Desert Blush

When I smelled it blind, I thought it was the most subtle and sophisticated citrusy musk I've ever tried. It was subtle, but blended with skin so well that the result was absolutely crazy. Anything else seemed too rough and blunt after this smell. So I thought it was probably super expensive, something like $350 for a 50ml bottle. I was shocked when I discovered it was all sandalwood, and how far I was from the listed notes, and this whole branding which didn't align with my first impression at all! And as it usually happens, now, of course, I smell a lot of sandalwood and powder, and it doesn't seem musky, sophisticated or expensive anymore. Although I still like it a lot and consider it a masterpiece. I don't necessarily smell pine here, but I definitely associate it with Christmas and snow. Desert? I don't know, maybe not. And speaking of boronia, I do smell it here as well. I smelled boronia oil at Mandy Aftel's museum of curious scents, and it is absolutely divine...

My husband can't smell this on me, which I guess is good because he doesn't usually like my fragrances. It is a very warm smell, and is a fairly long wear time for me. Definitely woody, and I will probably purchase after my sample runs out. ETA: After purchasing and wearing this over the winter months quite frequently, I really love it. It smells like dry heat in a good way, and helps to warm me up on cold damp days. It lasts about 8-10 hours on me, although by the end it is a skin scent. I'm curious about how it will perform in the hot, humid summer we experience where I live.

I like this! Very evocative of baked rocks, with the sandalwood being more earthy than soapy, as that note is sometimes wont to go. I can't wait to wear this out the acutal desert, and I plan on layering it with Demeter's Saguaro cactus for the full experience. update: Everyone is calling this a floral and I can't, for the life of me, smell any flowers, then I realized there is violet in this, and I can't smell beta-ionones (non-detector, it's genetic.) Because of this, I consider it a very unisex to masculine smokey-woody fragrance that's a bit powdery, but not at all flowery. Interesting how that one note can change an overall perception of a fragrance so dramatically.

I really like Desert Blush. It's a beautifully earthy woody-floral with loads of dry sandalwood and cedar juxtaposed against realistic ylang ylang and powdery violet. I don't know how many of these notes are indigenous to arid regions, but the overall impression of this certainly is desert-like; the florals are in full bloom but not particularly lush. This is one of my favorites of this line. It's a gorgeously executed vision of dry air and prickly desert blooms.

Powdery violets, musk and sandalwood, this is beautiful, natural and for quiet reflection. I really would love to sample this as a spray, and not from a tiny vial. Desert Blush stays close throughout its life. It’s a perfume for people who don’t need to announce their arrival. I’m really impressed.

This is a beautiful and warm sandalwood. It's also dusty and dry in the best way. It's smooth like a cashmere sweater. It also has a powdery vibe to it with some sweetness and a slightly smoky undertone. It's really lovely! It's my favorite from their line with Wild Fire being my second choice.

Desert Blush is a MUSK BOMB, even smelling it straight from the atomizer. Once sprayed on my skin, the musk only intensifies. The opening is a mature musk, well-blended with sandalwood and osmanthus. During the drydown, the cedar and boronia begin to peek through. This fragrance does smell natural and it is STRONG. Unfortunately for me, musk-heavy fragrances give me an instant headache and smell like a mess on my skin, and this is no exception. I was hoping for a lot more sandalwood in this, based on the votes and reviews, but it is completely dominated by the musk. Also, the juice in the bottle is not light and colorless as pictured, it is an almost fluorescent green, which was a bit off-putting. Although it seems to be a well-crafted fragrance, it just didn't work for me. If you really enjoy musk and sandalwood combos, though, this is a must try for you.

Not floral. Woody. Almost smoky. I don't smell violet or osmanthus, but there is definitely something beyond just woods and musk in this. There really is something that, if you sniff and think deeply, resembles the scent of bricks/clay/rock baking in the desert sun.

Unfortunately I don’t smell a thing on me! I’m anosmic to this! Too bad I love the notes. So sad!

I tried samples of everything Raw Spirit offers (with the exception of Fire Tree) and this was my favorite among the bunch. However, that still isn't really saying much, because I quite dislike nearly all of them and do not even like this one enough to put it on my like shelf. It is an okay light woody floral. But all of their perfumes dry down to the same musky base, and something in the house base really does not agree with me. For a company called Raw Spirit they all smell highly synthetic. However, a big bonus if these perfumes do agree with you is the longevity and sillage are great. I had my mom try one and I could immediately smell it when I walked into the room she was in. It was also quite hard for me to scrub them off.

Im just getting into this line, and the woody ones are it's strength and Desert Blush is no expection. There is an uncanny realness in the way Raw Spirit captures the essence of the great outdoors, walking in a forest, breathing fresh air and being one with nature. Despite the name, this is unisex as wood is the star player here as the floral and musky notes are extremely muted which is fine with me. As exceptional as this is, I do not recommend blind buying this unless a refined cedar woodiness is what you after. While I don't think anyone would hate this, it might not what they are after in a fragrance. I for one am smitten, it smells fantastic.

Same thing to my nose as Wild Fire which I love and has lots of creamy fluffy sandalwood and musk. Just compared side by side. This is a touch more herbal, that a touch more smoky and woody.

All I can smell is sandlewood and I love it. Plays well with other fragrances for layering.
