Aqva Narcotica

Aqua Narcotica owes its name and formulation to a 17th century alchemist who created and dedicate it to Marcantonio Giustiniani, 107th Doge of Venice. Perfume for a man then, but that makes it clear how habits and conventions of that time were very different from now. The fragrance, albeit as transposed in a modern fragrance, appears to have a feminine connotation. There's a citrus opening that evolves into floral notes of rose and lilac and then settles on an amber drydown of patchouli with hints of styrax. It is one of my absolute favorites. A perfume with personality and softness. And its box, well it's gorgeous. It recalls a book, because the first 5 fragrances of the maison were dedicated to the characters of the novel written by Fulvio Fronzoni, entitled precisely "King Profumo (Re Profumo) - wealth is knowing how to dream ". Its black and shiny cap seems to recall the gondolas and the atmosphere of the of Venice canals, that ambientation between a fairy tale and reality, the brocades and the reflections of the colored glass, the luminosity of the venetian squares and the darkness of the alleys, the contrast between quiet moments and the precariousness of the gondolas sliding thin and silent on the narcotic waters (acque/aque narcotiche) of the Venetian canals . This fragrance envelops and accompanies you throughout the day, first as a floral and sparkling coat then as a more intimate and warm scent of amber and styrax, leaving you only the next day with the desire to wear it again.

I received a sample with my purchase in a niche perfumery. I sprayed on before leaving for my ballet class and by the time I got there, I wanted to sniff my arm constantly. Very sweet scent, nothing groundbraking but lovely to wear and slightly addictive.

Pink lilac. I do sense allot of pinkish in here and lilac. Creamy floral and freshly cut. Slight styrax, slight oranges, and slight amber. IT's very creamy floral. It's quite delicate. Cute.
