Red Pearl

Hello friends! I first experienced Red Pearl by taking a chance and ordering a bottle that was only $9.00. As soon as I sprayed it I hopped online and ordered two more bottles for fear that I may never come across it again! This perfume smells so rich. Not as in, "I am a wealthy woman, rich" but in character. It reminds me very much of the perfume my mom used to wear in the 80's called "Raffinee". I don't get a gourmand scent so much as a warm rich floral with a bit of fruit that comes through in the first phase. This perfume has good silage and garnered many compliments. I wore this in Mexico last summer when it was VERY hot and humid. I don't think this necessarily is a "winter" scent. It is enhanced by the heat and humidity of the sun. The bottle is pretty and the "juice" is a golden amber color that expresses the warmth and depth that will come through on your skin. This scent is just so warm, sensual and indulgent. Try it~ I think for the most part it is a unknown winner...Sort of like a small winery that puts out an amazing vintage in small quantities that not many people have heard of, but if head to head with a 96+ pt heavily marketed $$$$ wine in a competition, it would win hands down. 2020 COVID19 Quarantine update~ Revisiting old perfumes to try to cheer my bored self up. This is one of my favorites, and I finally figured out why-- on me this smells like Poison, the ORIGINAL Dior Poison, knock-you-on-your-butt-spicy-warm. I bought this in late summer, and I was miffed to see that everyone who reviewed it said it was pretty inexpensive to purchase. Anyhow, it was worth the price. From beginning to end, this is warm, spicy, intoxicating. It has a sweet incense like scent on me, with a hint of the tonka, violet, and fruit--but not like the new very fruity scents. If you loved the middle and dry down of Poison, but can't get past the beginning, this may be the scent for you. On me, this is all the things I love about Poison without the price tag. It's longevity is insane, and after 12+ hours still smells exactly the same on me. This perfume is not by a fashion design house. It is wonderful. It is rich, spicy, warm, distinctive. ***2 years later... This scent does not so much as evolve--as the notes play hide and seek, but always with an over all scent like when it was first warming up and blending with my chemistry. Also--if you love nag champa or dragon blood incense, you should really give this a try!!! I really loved this in the fall and winter, seems overwhelming for summer days but an excellent summer evening scent, especially a humid evening...but beware! She packs a hell of a wallop, spritz with a light hand until you know how it reacts with your chemistry. This follows me, but never gets there before me--and if I am in one place for a bit, will linger after I've left.

The reviews of Red Pearl were tempting, especially because quite a few of my favorite reviewers and perfume quasi-twins are here, rooting for this unknown supah cheap blue light special of a juice in one of the uber tackiest bottles I have seen - in person, the huge red plastic "pearl" top wrapped in gilded plastic planetary rings has to be seen to be appreciated...yikes!. So I had to have it. Surpriiiiise!!!: Yes, Red Pearl is gorgeous in two phases: coming out of the gate munching on pralines and candied flowers and hours later, drying down to sweet amber with a vanilla mainlining habit. Perhaps its my sweets gobbling skin chemistry, but the "in between", ummmm - not so much. On me, it has some off note of citrus, passion fruit and black currants left to macerate too long. However, in my naughty, non-purist way, I have found that a spritz of Honey and The Moon (Tokyo Milk) or Ava Luxe's fabulous "Honey" blend the icky compote back into the other ingredients and creates a perfect bridge between fabulous opening and lovely drydown. Despite the small and easily adjustable issue I had with the not-so-pleasant fruit compote someone left out all night, Red Pearl is worth a LOT more than you will pay for it. So to all the other reviewers on this page, I say thank you - great advice, great discovery, and for (metaphorical) pennies only!

Red Pearl by Paris Bleu is an indie perfume that nobody's heard of. I first bought it from a street vendor in Soho, NYC in 2004. It always reminds me of that trip. It is a spicy amber oriental with a distinctive silage like no other. Years later, I smelled it at an open-air shopping mall in metro Chicago. The silage was left behind by a lady who knows. I searched a long walkway looking for her so I could ask her about it, but I never found her. I always have a bottle of this. Sometimes I get a bottle with a sprayer that sticks, and you can't use it unless you rinse the nozzle with warm water every time. Red Pearl is available online at an affordable price. I noticed availability dropped for a time, and now it is back. Paris Bleu, the original manufacturer, was restructured and now has a different owner, SPCC (Societe Parisienne de Parfums & Cosmetiques.)

Red Pearl is really beautiful. The vanilla is warm and rich, the tonka bean gives it an edge of spice but not too much. It stays on the side of sweet and delicious. Give it a half hour to settle in to the above, the first little bit it's struggling. But once it settles, omg, it's soooo good. The floral, praline, passionfruit, all the other notes listed are balanced and not really ones you can pick out. It just works perfectly. I can get a bit of musk but again, it's not overdone. I found a bottle on an auction. It was under $20 and a blind buy. I'd never heard of this one before. The box it came in was really that of an expensive perfume. It's nestled in almost kind of a display stand when you take the top off. I have 100ml and glad to have it because I doubt I'll find it again.

Just bought a bottle of this for AUS$20. After reading the reviews, and having some horrible expensive mistakes after blind buying, I thought how bad can this be. Well, so far (15 minutes), this is a stunner. Warm, ripe, but not over ripe. Without that OTT blast of white florals that screams at me and makes me headachy. The smell of rich vanilla, luscious fruit with rose and a hint of geranium (ah, rose and geranium one of my all time favourite combos)and FINALLY, a perfume I can SMELL!! So far, this is LOVE! If this stays true, I will be ordering more bottles. I can just see this enriching cold nights, and cold days...but I can also see it working all year round. Very happy indeed. Will update if it all turns to tears...

This really is great bang for buck if you enjoy "florientals" and want to smell like a million bucks but spend peanuts. I agree with Angel10 it does give me some hints of what I love about Hot Couture and similar type perfumes, but it also is very distinctly different in it's own right. The fruits and florals are so lush on my skin atm, I seriously cannot wait for the drydown! Given how much I love this perfume already, I have a feeling that was the best $30 I have spent in a while! I think I can almost guarantee too that my Mum will be trying to pinch this one off me once she smells it...

Bought this un-sniffed and I do love it very much. I can smell the air of Alien by Mugler in the mix, only Red Pearl is more spicy. I like that about it. I find it to be pleasing to my senses and it last a long time on myself. Some fragrances remind me of the Holidays and this is one that makes me think of Christmas. I love the bottle! It is very heavy glass with a gold and red lid. The fragrance is a dark amber. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box that will keep the fragrance fresh for many years. So ladylike and with a hint of powder to it. It is very pleasant.

This is gorgeous!!!! This is what I was expecting seductive red by guess to be only with a cherry twist. I had the opportunity to buy this over a year ago but I thought nah it’s probably grannie style... based on the newer reviews I gave this a shot and I’m so glad I did! Sweet spicy but not heavy. It’s not heave like samsara or amarige but it is like a lighter version of those two mixed. I would call it amarige red or samsara flora. Let’s not get the YouTubers onto this or the price might get hiked and we don’t want that... let’s keep this our lil cheapie 🤫

I just love delightful, somewhat hidden gems from the 90s like this. The packaging is beautiful - it comes in a pretty substantial box in which the fragrance is uprightly cradled in a tray lined with a velvety fabric. The juice is the epitome of rouge. The nectareous passion fruit and currants fluffed with the soft powdery violet and other florals is so elegant. And the sweet, ambery drydown is delicious. If you like White Diamonds en Rouge, Marquis by Remy Marquis, or Always Red by Elizabeth Arden, you'll love this.

Like this very much. Starts with a note that reminds me of a cup of black tea with some milk in it. Then flowers, fruits and vanilla join in and make a slightly sweet and very easy to like light oriental that never fails to put me in a comfy feelgood-mood. Love it most after about 20 minutes when the flower/spices blend is most lovely and that phase lasts many hours. It's an airy and veil-like oriental but with very good staying power. Quite unique stuff actually. I'm glad to have it.

thanks for the reviews girls. i found a great discount in a website. and bought it inspite of hving Victoria perfum already. so my mom says this is wayyyy much better than vs. the smell actually fills the room, its a bit too sweet for me i think. but overall, i love the package, the box, the style, its very beautiful, and the smell stays for such a long time. i just bought it, so need some time to see what the guys will say about it :) but it worths it!!!!!!!! nice Parfüme must buy

A beautifully decadent gourmand! Lots of yummy vanilla, amber, passionfruit, tonka, and praline working in delightful tandem, keeping the scent surprisingly linear for the duration of the day. The floral notes are very fleeting to my nose, a few whispers here and there. Lovely sillage, and long-lasting to boot, at least 8+ hrs on clothes. Will be using this heavily in winter, and the bottle! Positively gorgeous.

I haven't heard about this perfume but I was so glad I blind-bought this in June last year. It smells rich, sophisticated and classic. I always get wowed when I smell it on myself or on my handkerchief. It is truly a gem. My first bottle is nearly empty and I would definitely buy another. It is truly a gem and I love it!

Use to be my signature about 17 years ago and was obsessed. It's quite hard to get in stores in australia. It's quite unique and performs different on everyone. Can be quite strong and quite sweet as well as being soft and feminine. Would suggest testing beforehand to see how it performs on ones self.

Woo - delicious perfume! Brilliant! I looove it! Gourmand! Fruit! Flowers! Lovely rosewood, bitter tonka, delicious yummy praline and beautiful vanilla, amber and musk dry down. It's a gorgeous floral, fruity, woody gourmand. Beautifully sweet, bitter, rich, smooth, dreamy - altogether a delight!

This is an amazing perfume :the scent is Very deep, feminine ,warm ( hot even ) and mysterious.for a sensual and unique allure. There's something devine in it that i can't find in any other fragrance ,a real pleasure to wear ,Aaaand i get plenty of compliments.

this one here is the best parfum i had ever smelled in my life. so nostalgic the women around me used to wear it when i was a kid i always wanted to own it but it's rare to find but i got my hand on one that will be mine the next month.

Oh this brings back memories of my youthful 20's in the early 2000's. Use to be available here in Australia in drug stores and paift perfumery but can't get it anymore. Am still searching for it

This is a oriental balanced with some floral tones but very unique scent something different.I love wearing scents that may not be as popular because then I wont smell like everyone else

holy shit batman; loving this one with main dominant notes of passion fruit, tuberose central, musk and tonka; although this is tuberose laden it still is very gourmand in nature

Amarige meets VW Boudoir and a little bit of sweet magic. Love this stuff. Could definitely be a little drunk auntie for some, but unf. I love it.

I bought this hoping it would be close to Poeme, and it is! Also brings to mind Vanderbilt, another great love. Red Pearl for the win!

I got my bottle yesterday and I am quite pleased. I sprayed a couple of spritzers on this morning and the scent of Red Pearl has been by my side all day. At first it 's quite heady with the burst of flowers and fruits but than it mellows considerably and I get whiffs here and there. A reviewer somewhere compared RP to Mackie, and I agree, Mackie could be called a distant cousin, but if I remember Mackie correctly, I would say that Mackie is more heady floral throughout and stronger in general, whereas RP has an added spicy warmth to it and mellows quicker to a comfortable scent that lingers pleasurably. From reviews that I have read I expected RP to be much more of a power house than it actually is. I am wondering whether RP blooms much more in warmer weather. It is late autumn now where I live and I like it very much. Maybe I get a bit of a surprise when it is warming up again... Forgot to mention that the powdery note is not very prominent and appears only in the base when the spices take over and the florals/fruits are pushed back stage.

On me this has very similar notes to Angel (burnt caramel praline) and fruity tart notes like an over-ripe melon which makes it smell like Chance on me also. Slightly dissapointed as I hoped this would be more of a spicier oriental, gourmands are not really me and I find the tart passionfruit note in this really comes through and becomes irritating. All and all this is a well crafted fragrance for a great price. I will give it another go and if we don't get on I will gift it to a friend who I am sure will be overjoyed to recieve it. Edit - I have given this another try and over a vanilla lotion it is delicious. I definitely does have some oriental notes in the drydown also tried it over a musk lotion and it smelled amazing. So I would recommend trying it this way if it doesn't quite agree with you on the first try. Definitely a great perfume for a bargain price. Definitely smells very french like something Fragonard would have produced that I have owned before but cannot quite place.

Interesting, likable and an astonishing bargain but I'm not sure that I'd consider this an oriental at all. I've been wearing it all morning and my take is a lovely floral with a sweet amber base: definitely violet, noticeable tuberose. I believe the vanilla but I don't think it's what you'd say first if you didn't know it was there. There are none of the nasty artificial notes you usually find in a perfume in this price range and it doesn't "turn" as the day goes on. Unlike most violets it doesn't have the usual twinned rose note so it won't remind you of other scents. It's definitely a perfume that people won't recognize. My only warning is that, at least on me, it's sweet. It's not cloying or unpleasant but it's not a dry or a gray amber. Well worth investigating and recommended. Sillage: 3-5 ft but soft Persistence: 4 hours and counting Fabulosity: not fabulous but very nice Price to value ratio: excellent 7/10

I must get this! This will be one that I will say, "I'll never tell" and wink when people ask what I am wearing....unbelievable price too! ($25 for 100ml EDP, and am getting another I found 100ml for $15!!!! Fantastic. So yummy....great lasting power, and I am SO HAPPY to have finally rec'd a fragrance I really like! I have rec'd 12 that I am selling as they just don't make the cut, some of them costing 5-8 times as much as this one! I might buy another just to tuck away....sweet & juicy & rich & truly one of a kind! I am thinking it smells a touch like Nicole Miller & Hot Couture No.1, but not absolutely. Has its own fingerprint.

I've had this for a couple months, now. At times, it is a sweet, soft cinnamon. At others, it is a yellow floriental, very reminiscent of Lancome's Poeme. It has a certain, pleasing synthetic smell to it. Silky latex. Smooth, hot, melted plastic. I love that aspect of it. I really like this, and it is quite interesting, especially for the price. It is so mysterious, I am still not sure what I think about it.

I found this perfume in my local chemist and I wear it as my every day/work scent. I really like it, on me it smells like cinnamon, but I need to pour it on to be able to smell it myself. I frequently get complimented and asked what I'm wearing when I have it on. This perfume is reasonably priced, I think it smells like a more expensive perfume.

smells like a mix between QUEEN by queen latifah and bijan VIP. For me, a sweet vanilla sugared rhum... with no rhum^^. A little balsamic. Poor lasting power on skin. Better on clothes but not great... detectable 2 hours.

This is absolutely lovely! Great value and lots of character. If you want to try a floral oriental that doesnt smell like all the others this is IT. Classy and very long lasting. Its a keeper.

Have to say I do like this one. A hidden treasure. Warm and inviting. Does not cost a fortune. Stays on my skin for ages.

It is safe to say that I am at least a little disappointed. Based on the accords and notes I see here, I was hoping for a beautiful vanilla amber perfume, deep, vintage, and opulent. But it turns out to be an undescriptive sweet fruity floral, and a bit sharp in the opening. It does have a vintage vibe tho, which is good. Also, the bottle, especially the cheap plastic cap, feels low quality to me, while in the pictures it looks gorgeous. Just another reason why I am disappointed. I am trying really hard to understand this fragrance. I will give it some time.

Thanks to Fragrantica, I discovered Red Pearl. I love the sharpness of the rosewood and violet combined with the soft deliciousness of praline. I agree with a lot of the other reviewers--it smells way more expensive than it costs.

YES! I got this one today. Totally wonderful. Soft, deep, superwomanish, gorgeous...Not to sweet, not to much flowers and great basenotes with vanilla, amber and tonkabeans..I'm in love with Red Pearl. Eau de Parfum-version. Good thing on the box - they printet prod.date.. thats good. this one is made oct 2008. this is a true Oriental Vanilla scent! Helt underbar doft! mjuk, varm, djup och superkvinnlig. Inte för söt, inte för mycket blommor och basnoten är superb. Jag känner vanilj, amber och tonkaböna tydligt och mjukt. Sjukt förälskad i Red Pearl! På boxen har företaget stämplat in prod.datum, vilket jag tycker är bra, mer sånt! Denna Eau de Parfum är gjord okt. 2008. Denna är en sann Oriental vanilla- doft!

After using it for a few times, I have discovered that I don't like this at all. The top notes are all right because I like vanilla, but after about an hour I detect it resembling a cherry based cough syrup. There is also a sickly oily some kind of smell that I get. Like they used some very cheap oil to mix up all the ingredients in...The dry down is tolerable, but I have to like the perfume in it's entirety. I am new to fragrances and not a perfume snob at all. But this one screams cheap, and does not smell French at all, imho. EDIT:100 ml Edp, up for swap in my country (India).

Thanx to fragrancex.com who had this treasure for sale. I love Red Pearl and on my skin its perfect. Little bit of black currant, Tonka, Vanilla, Amber, Passionfruit and Musk. Its a bit sweet and just wonderful - for almost no money at all. Worth trying if you like Oriental Vanillas. Tackar fragrancex som har denna lilla skatt på lager. Jag älskar Red Pearl och på mig blir den perfekt. Lite svart vinbär, Tonka, Vanilj, Amber, Passionsfrukt och Musk. Lite sötaktig och helt ljuvlig - för nästan inga pengar alls. Värd att prova om du gillar Oriental Vanillas.

I bought Red Pearl in the middle of the summer and like so many other reviewers was thrilled by the very nice sweet oriental opening and an incedible price. But give it some time and the cheap chemichal composition asserts itself, especially in the drydown. After the top notes disappear all is left is synthetic and almost nauseating sweetness. Made me feel like wearing glade airfreshener. It will probably be used as an air freshener....would be a nice scent to add some Christmas spirit around the house.

I'm not sure if I like this, or maybe it's just the wrong season to wear it. It makes me think of a rum laden fruit cake or plum pudding, the kind sold at Christmas. I think I need to put this away until the holiday season. It seems like it might fit in better at that time than in the spring. Just a heads up for future purchasers of this fragrance. You have to twist the cap otherwise it won't pull off the bottle. Speaking of bottles, this is unique and worth having even if you don't like the fragrance.

Red Pearl, a delightful yet somewhat dated oriental floral perfume. Do not be fooled by the notes' votes as this is in no form or shape a vanillic amber with tonka, praline and rosewood. This would be La Vie est belle. Red Pearl is a tuberose-rose-geranium-aldehydic composition, only slightly warmed by all the fabulous sounding aforementioned warm notes. It can be found for a great price, so you can try it for yourselves, I recommend it to all 90s oriental floral lovers

This was a blind buy for me; I was intrigued by the perfume's group (Oriental Vanilla). The only good thing I found about this perfume is the dry-down. But even then, it smells exactly like Givenchy's "Amarige" at that point ! I absolutely abhor the "cherry based cough syrup" resemblance that's evident in all the phases preceding the dry-down... Gave this perfume away instantly.

I have this one but it is not really me. It doesn't smell like an oriental at all. All I get are the floral notes, especially violet. If you love violet...try this! It is a very pretty bottle and very inexpensive as well and I know that a lot of people love it...when I did wear it I did get compliments on it. Can't hurt to try, especially at the low price.

It smells exactly, like the price is. A sweet, chemical black currant amber compote. Scrubbed it off. However, the lasting power is really good.

After giving this a very quick evaluation a while ago it got stored at the back of my scent-wardrobe where it kept getting overlooked till I found it on a chilly february day and I -finally- decided to test this sweetie for a whole day and see what surprises it had in store. Boy, is this a beauty! My first thought was: If Shalimar & Cabochard had a love-child, Red Pearl would be the result. On my skin it's a rich vanilla (NOT cloying or overly sweet but rather a sensual vanilla) with a very lush rosewood note that gets quickly accompanied by a cozy tonka-bean. Hints of florals and fruits further beautify this hidden gem that could be your next *secret* scent that people wonder about! The dry-down is a warm amber with a civet vibe. I also get (throughout) a smokey sensation that is not at all disturbing but rather adds to its oriental feel. Despite the friendly price it's not cheap smelling at all! It smells very complex and lush. An addictive and warm vanilla Oriental that is a must sniff for vanilla/Oriental fans! If you like scents in the vein of Shalimar and/or Cabochard this is a wonderful addition to your collection, simply because it's closely related to the two, yet different enough to be true to itself. Silage is: you have entered an amazing Oriental Souq! -- Longevity is 6+ hours in which it travels through a few stages of enchantment then settles on a warm close to the skin amber base with a touch of rose. A real treat for a friendly price! Try it and be amazed (I was!) : )

I don't know what I think of this most very unusual fragrance I was expecting a sweet modern gourmand but it's more of a classic aldehyde .I know there is no aldehyde in there I am at loss as to what makes that vibe It has a cold sparkling frozenness to it overlaid on a much more complex gourmand that is really not very sweet at all . The only note I can imagine makes it smell like that is the rosewood .In just this aspect it reminds me of Dior's Dune but Dune does also have aldehydes as well as the rosewood It is an absolute mega beast .I can smell it throughout the entire house it also has good staying power .It is a most striking and unusual scent unforgettable .I am most intrigued by it .People have given me many favourable comments to the point some have bought it And the price it is ridiculously cheap for such a brilliant fragrance .

Oh, wow. This one is a keeper with tons of character. I find it Floral Fruity Gourmand rather than Oriental Vanilla, and it's definitely not old fashioned, it's vintage. ;) The scent may seem to be quite heavy for those who like fresh scents, like Light Blue. It reminds me of Classique by JPG and Maroussia by Zaitsev. There is something very addicting in the notes; perhaps it's a mix of amber and praline which evokes the images of ice-cream parlour and yummy café-bakery in the morning. The perfume smells so good it's almost edible. The biggest advantage is the staying power which is over 10 hours on me.
