Wow. Just... wow. This fragrance is unlike anything my nose has encountered in recent memory. As a seasoned perfume collector I rarely encounter a scent that genuinely surprises me. But this one? Goosebumps. Literal goosebumps. At the heart of this olfactory delight is a rich, charismatic coffee note — the star of the show. The opening features a zingy burst of ginger that keeps things fresh for about an hour, before gracefully stepping aside for the warm trio of amber, vanilla, and leather. Together, they swirl into a creamy coffee concoction so comforting, you’ll want to wrap yourself in it like a luxurious throw blanket. Longevity and projection? On point — much like most of Regalien’s offerings. In short: this is a must-sniff. But, as always, sample before committing.

A sophisticated perfume. Requires perfume experience. It is not suitable for general taste. It wants a stone house, boutique hotel, fireplace, Turkish coffee and nostalgia. It is a perfume for collection purposes rather than daily use. If the city of Mardin had a smell, this would be it, its streets would smell like this.

To be honest, I tested it just for 1 day, but it was enough to understand that it is not my type of fragrance at all. In order to describe the scent, it is literally: Arabian desert, caramelized dates, Turkish delights ,closed in a bottle. Even though it is really strong and sharp scent, its sillage is moderate . I personally will not spray it on myself again.

I just got this yesterday and after it sat in my mailbox a few hours in the FL heat, I sprayed it and only got a nasty cigarette smell. I should have waited but usually I have no issue with using my perfumes the first day I get them. I only bought a 5ml sample but I was so disappointed. However, I am going to let her sit and macerate because I have faith the notes I like will come out... Fingers crossed. Out of my 200+ decant collection, if this scent doesnt change, it will be the first one I actually dislike and cannot wear. :( I will update my review if the notes change. Edited 3/24 - Ok the stale cigarette smell is slowly going away thank God! I’m going to wait a few more weeks and try again.

The notes drew me in, but the execution leaves much to be desired. I agree with the review about the stale cigarrettes sent, not something I want to smell like as a woman.

Part of the heritage collection, this series is supposed to reproduce scents and atmosphere of Turkey: part of a more larger phenomenon of the entrane of Turkish culture in a Western-Euro-centric domain (see the numerous telenovelas made in Turkey aired in Europe). Hatir should be a representation of the Turkish coffee ritual, which does not involve only coffee, but as a discursive social practise it involves cigars, pastries, and conversation; in a word, conviviality. Now Turkish coffee is not made with pressurized water as espresso nor is it make with a moka, but with cezve. the grounded coffee is basically being boiled in water, a process that makes it extremely dense and releasing an interesting, aromatic, rosted scent. Hatir captures very well this smell. There is no added sugar, no edulcorated sweetener. Just coffee with a slight undertone of nuts. This becomes sweeter with time as a note of chocolate emerges. The scent is still good, but the opening that amazed me and wanted me to buy it has gone. Now the Turkish coffee is slightluy morphing to a Starbuck latte, and it is saved only by the smoky undertones that I believe emanate from the vetiver. But what really bugs me is the drydown: a generic combo of vetiver engenteled with iris: we smelled it way too many time before.
