Tawanna

I received a bottle of Tawanna in a lot of 6 vintage fragrances for $25. I had my husband smell it on my wrist. He likes 80's-type amber fragrances like Opium, and thought this was quite nice. (He is picky!) I was surprised looking it up to see that it is a true drugstore cheapie, currently available on Amazon for a whopping $9... I don't get the strong smoky element someone mentioned, but this is a vintage bottle and may be a different composition. For me it is more an amber floriental with some powdery vanillic core that reminds me a bit of Dana Tabu.

I bought this from the Regency Cosmetics website, and I really like it. It's a little fresh-spicy (clove?) and it's a little bit green, too. The rose is actually nice, not too intense and doesn't smell like old bathroom potpourri. The incense is there for sure. Overall a nice spicy floral with a mild amber background. Update: wearing this August 2025, I notice a strong similarity to Ciara. Not a copy but definitely getting little wafts that make me think of C!

Strong smoky spice bomb, long lasting too, but terribly linear. A distant relative of Femme Rochas and J`ai Ose parfum. In one word: smoky.

Terribly disappointed with this perfume. There is a reason it was so cheap, it is old and past its use by date. Save your money. This just about burnt my nasal cavities out and I am still recovering. Not all old perfume retains its memory of better days.

In the late 80's I worked a fragrance store which carried this. I remember that no one ever bought it. Just about everyone who saw it thought of Tawanna Brawley as that was going on at the time so no wonder it didn't sell. I remember it as a harsh oriental, not a floral as listed on fragrantica.
