Blood Spider Orchids 2025

When I was deciding to try this, another fragrance afficionado described this as “Jasmine spiced applesauce” which I could immediately conjure in my mind and created an immense desire to get my nose on Blood Spider Orchids. One declutter and an a blind buy later, my bottle arrived last night along with 3 other RdF samples. The opening of Blood Spider Orchids is dominated by spices: cinnamon, clove and smoked nutmeg. I do not get “potpouri” or a “holiday candle” like I have from some other inexpensive fragrances. That's usually happens when a fragrance isn't macerated, poorly blended, thin and artificial. In BSO I can smell the woodiness of the cinnamon. The warm, pine-like freshness of the nutmeg On the RdF website it lists the note as smoked clove which creates a smoky tobacco/leathery aspect which I definitely pick up on, particularly in the dry down. The first few hours are when the Jasmine shines. Along with a note that smells of tart stewed apple. The combination of stewed apples, spices and jasmine remind me of Sugar Leather and PDM Oajan. In Blood Spider Orchids, the florals accent the apple and spice wearas in Oajan it's accompanied by a cream of wheat/ oat porridge nuance. Sugar leather leans less on the spice and more on the leather but it's shares the sweet, almost boozy spiced opening that will remind many of Angel’s Share. The performance is above average and like my other favorite, Green Vanille, projection hovers above the skin. Another win for me and happy to have this in my collection.

I just got my sample from Luckyscent thank goodness for switching to sprayers and no more dabbers. Blood Spider Orchid is the essence of autumn captured in liquid form. The opening greets you with a wave of spicy warmth comforting yet refined, like stepping into a room where the air carries the scent of clove, cinnamon, and smoldering wood. There’s an intriguing, almost fruity nuance that dances through the composition, even though no fruit notes are listed. It’s not a bright orchard fruit but something deeper, like warm apple cider steeped with spices or a cranberry mulled drink, rich and glowing in a firelit setting. As it settles, the fragrance unfolds into a tapestry of seasonal comforts. I imagine the faint aroma of gingerbread cookies baking in the oven, their sweetness curling through the air, mingling with the spice and warmth of the room. If Hansel and Gretel were wandering outside, they would certainly be drawn in by the richness of these scents, as if the fragrance itself were beckoning them toward the hearth. The overall effect is enveloping cozy without being heavy, nostalgic without feeling predictable. Blood Spider Orchid is not just fall coded, it is fall personified: a scent of comfort, intimacy, and understated beauty. It carries you into the heart of the season with a sense of richness and warmth that feels timeless.

This is exactly the cinnamon fragrance I’ve been searching for. I hear all the “smells like a Christmas candle/potpourri/apple pie” and I get that for people who grew up with a lot of christmas/christian influence this is neither dark nor mysterious, but as someone who doesnt associate incense with church or cinnamon with holiday cheer this is a perfect moody winter fragrance. The resin-y dry down DOES remind me of a lot of a lot of other ambery fragrances and to someone less obsessed with finding this exact scent you could totally dupe it. But i tried it side by side with a bunch of other ambery things I like and find it distinctly different. Someone mentioned diptyque’s ambre/narguile candles and this does really resemble that. I love it.

This is utterly gorgeous. I haven’t tried the fair main version, so my impressions are based purely on the permanent release. On me, it opens with a dark fruit, something that reminds me of cherries. This impression is deep and subtle without being the star. It quickly gives way to a smoky Tonka. There is a hint of a strangeness to it that reminds me of Bapteme du Feu from Serge Lutens, perhaps a hint of bitter orange? It is certainly more wearable and friendly than the Lutens. I love it for the upcoming Fall season, but it’s an opulent scent that I’ll reach for throughout the year. It’s long lasting and projects maybe 1-2 feet off the skin, though it’s not loud. My favorite release from the house, well done!

I absolutely adore this perfume. It starts out fizzy and rich, reminds me of root beer. As it dries down it loses the fizz and becomes more warm, think hot apple cider or spice tea. After it’s been on for a while it smells exactly like apple jacks cereal. Overall it always has the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and is especially perfect for the colder months. This is honestly what I wanted tonka cola by mancera to be, it’s equally fun and grown which is definitely my sweet spot in perfume!

spices and whimsy! the thing about regime des fleurs is that i want every single perfume they release, not for the smell but for the experience itself, this immediately made me think of my goth phase, it’s very gothic/gloomy/whimsical to my nose, probably because it reminds me of a specific old bath and body cherry candle i used to light up in my room as a teenager, oh to have unlimited money and no adult obligations so i can also add this one to my collection :(

Got a RdF sample set for my wife as a fun holiday gift and ended up not only stealing this one but wearing it almost every day since she opened the box hahaha. I'm a warm/cozy/fall/wintery type and this makes me want to snuggle up by the fireplace with a book which is literally what I've been doing for the last 2 hrs. I keep smelling myself and smiling. Anyway, totally unexpected but I'm probably going to get myself a full bottle.

9/10 Honestly I’m obsessed but to be fair I love smelling spices every morning in my cupboard like a freak perv. This is like a one to one pure clove and frankincense scent and I LOVEE it, I would wear this to a renaissance festival or Halloween events ASFF

If you love spicy and love patchouli then you’ll enjoy this. The opening is strong clove and cinnamon, smells kinda like Christmas. The dry down is warm, cozy and patchouli heavy.

If the air of apple cider and apple pie had a baby. Not cloying. Amazing.

I like it, I can even say I love it. It turned less dark and more airy than I expected and most certainly hoped for. Nevertheless it is very much a beautiful perfume. I was very nervous about the patchouli projection to turn out as synthetic and as blaring loud as it can get in many, I could even point to Fleur Eclair (I looked forward to it so much, but it turned out nauseating because of this one note and gave it a Taylor’s detergent smell-had to gave it away). Lucky for me this one holds it with lovely balance. It has an apothecary quality to it. There is a syrupy fruity note I smell with each spritz at the beginning and that I love! I can definitely pick up the cinnamon, maybe some clove, something similar to earl grey tea with milk as well. It’s projection is close by but it does linger well past 7-8 hours especially on clothes. I do wish that it was deeper and darker as advertised however the final product is beautiful and lovely for the fall and winter.

Smells a little bit like the inside of a McDonald's apple pie. A bit cinnamoney/nutmegey, a bit apple-ish. I get the mulled wine scent others have mentioned. Definitely an autumn or at the very least, late November to early December vibes as the scent also reminds me a bit of the sort of desserts I find people like to make around Christmas time. I was expecting something a teeny bit more herbal or green, perhaps witchy, given the name Blood Spider Orchids. It's more gourmand than I imagined. Which is fine, I generally like gourmands. It's just not what I expected. I have a small sample of this and while I do like the smell of the fragrance itself, I don't know that I'm at all intrigued by it to get a full size. By no means do the two smell similar at all, but it's got a similar vibe to fragrances like Turmeric Latte or Cardamom Coffee by Lush which I already have and is priced more competitively. Longevity on me also leaves quite a fair bit to be desired.

Initially a red hot cinnamon-incense burst, and it mellows out quickly into a softer winter spice candle-type scent. I didn't pick up on any apple or mulled wine fragrance until I started reading reviews, and now I'm noticing it, which is fine... But I think I ultimately prefer a deeper smokier incense (Clue's With the Candlestick!), although this is more wearable overall, and still very nice and cozy. I will without a doubt get through my sample this winter Update: wearing Blood Spider Orchids and With the Candlestick side by side and think I'm liking Blood Spider Orchids more in the end! Softer, less harsh, more enveloping

This would be amazing if performance was better and it should be especially for the price they are asking. That said this is an interesting take on spice. All the spices are there but this is not a dry spice fragrance, there is something very moist here and it smells to me like a spiced cup of jasmine tea. So there is a delicate quality here to this fragrance. If you are expecting the smell of orchids I think you will be disappointed. There is no orchid accord here at all only a delicious cup of heavily spiced jasmine tea. With a snack of cut up apples on the side.

I really loved this at first because it immediately smelled exactly like going to the mall with my grandma when I was a kid and I was hit with a huge wave of nostalgia. Then I realized pretty quickly that as much as I loved the memories it was bringing back, I don’t really want to smell like an early 2000s mall. Also was ultimately a bit bummed because I expected this to be a lot darker and witchier but I wasn’t getting anything sinister in the slightest.

I bought a sample of this based on the name alone, because I'm a spooky bitch, and I was not disappointed. Spices, incense, patchouli, what more could you ask for? Perfect scent for the fall, or anyone who wants a mysterious, witchy air about them.

i'm torn between being sad that this isn't as wonderfully gothic as the name implies, and happy that my wallet is safe from me falling in love with a second overpriced régime des fleurs scent. this is a sweet, spicy-resinous scent, dosed with a sorority's worth of pumpkin spice, extra heavy on the cinnamon. i like the woody facets of it, which are more evident in the drydown and make it a drier aroma, but ultimately it is a little too tame, too sweet for me, it smells like a yankee candle. i'm sure some would love it for how comforting it feels; if you like spiced gourmands but want something a touch less food-y, you might enjoy this. i'm absolutely certain i have something similar, if not identical, from alkemia. (after checking my indie oil collection spreadsheet, yes, it's alkemia's the spicetree that this reminds me of. also discontinued, ugh. regardless, i think you can find this scent profile from an indie perfumer without the hefty RdF price tag.) it's definitely not intended for this warmer weather we're having; i'll have to return to it in autumn or winter and update my thoughts, i might appreciate it more then.

Initial spray smells EXACTLY like walking into a Lush. You pick up literally every bath bomb ever, all at once. Like, if you stayed in the store for too long, you might become sick... it smells nice, it just... smells... so... much? Then, it settles into the cinnamon—warms up a lot, and blends more into your skin. Spicy cinnamon, nice cloves, slight sweetness, very autumnal... I feel that this can only be appropriately worn during Autumn. Reminds me of a craft store, or storytime at the library in primary school. Nostalgic.

This feels flat to me. Smells kind of like a craft store during the holidays. Warm, spicy cinnamon with something sweet in the background, likely the jasmine. Honestly I find it boring and wish there was something darker about it, a bit more sinister. "Witchy" where? This feels like an extremely easy to wear warm spicy fragrance leaning fem. I can see people wearing this as a going out scent in the fall/winter. It doesn’t feel particularly deep, complex, or interesting. But not everything has to be.

Right off the bat, smells like cold apple cider with visible spices in it, yk? Then it kinda transforms into a Michael's during fall or Christmas time. It gets a little spicier over time, but it's definitely very synthetic. I agree with the comment that says this should be a candle. its good, but i cant find any blood, or spider, or orchid.

You MUST be a cinnamon lover for this one. Unfortunately I am not, so this wasn’t really for me. It smells too much like a cinnamon apple candle in my opinion. There are certain occasions where I would crave this, like during the Holiday’s, but those occasions are so few and far between for me.

This smells exactly like the hot mulled red wine they sell at christmas markets in Europe. It's nice and lively, but not a realistic everyday wear. I can only see myself wearing this one month out of the year. It's very lovely, just not practical. Rating: 6.5/10

Holy cinnamon, Batman. This is definitely heavy on the cinnamon note. It kind of reminds me of those scented pine cones you get from the store. Honestly I could see wearing this layered with something smoother during the winter months.

Strong mulled wine, boozy almost. I got sick of smelling it very quickly but, after applying generously at 5pm, I was impressed that it started to fade away at 9am the next morning!

It opens very cinnamonny, clove, like pumpkin latte ish but with some woods like cedar. The dry down was a bit weaker than I thought?

The notes themselves suggest something right up my ally. But when I got my nose on it I was shocked. Apple? It reminds me of the apple cinnamon potpourris that were so ubiquitous in the 90s. I suppose if that was before your time you won’t have the same scent association with this particular combo. I was expecting something dark, brooding, nuanced. Instead I got flashbacks of shopping at Michael’s the night before a science project is due. Mom is mad, there will be no sleep tonight. If you were a good student that never had to make those last minute craft store trips—or if you were born after 1997–maybe you’ll be fine, but I’ll still politely implore you to reconsider.

I can appreciate the quality of this but a big nope for me. Smells too much like home fragrance. Reminds me of any type of fall fragrance/potpourri/candles you can buy from anywhere. Tested on skin and there’s no redeeming qualities.

The opening smelled like smearing goopy Carmex across your mouth on a hot summer day. Absolutely nauseating. The dry down was more pleasant and spicy but I can’t escape that opening.

Literally what she said below. 4 gourmands so they wanna capitalize on gourmands - fleur eclair, green vanille, wicked honey, and now this - ok that’s obvious. But goth is evrywhere now too so they pretend witches and vampires have to do with the smell of craft stores and apple pies. It's a cashgrab. Were regime just lucky this whole time like. Did they know what they were doing when they made tears or was it straight up luck. they're slipping because they churn smth else out every few months and need us to hype this shit up instead of trying. anyway this is apple pie and a michael’s, if u wanna smell like thanksgiving go ahead n do that. nothing wrong with that but stop lying because this yankee candle shit is worthless!

Underwhelming. The name confuses me because I don’t get anything reminiscent of blood, spiders, or orchids here. It smells like any other typical warm spicy amber and leans a bit gourmand with an apple pie/cider accord like Angels’ Share. I thought this would be something unique and dark based on the name. Performance and sillage is surprisingly weak.

This was disappointing. Smells like a bowl of potpourri with dry cinnamon and unsweet plasticky cranberries. I'd agree that it just smells like a craft store. Flat, boring, and missing something.

I had this on my want list, but alas I am removing it. I have a sample, and let me tell you this is very weak. Does it smell good? Yes, just like the people below me are saying. It’s apples, spices, and a craft store. I think if I wore it out people would not even think I was wearing a perfume. They might think it’s something in the air of a shop or something. Now that is if they even notice, which I doubt they would. I sprayed a couple sprays of my official sample and could barely smell it unless I pushed my nose into my arm. This doesn’t waft around you. So, I tried many more sprays, same result. It’s a shame. I thought the potential was there. Anyway, $275 is too much to spend to wear something that I can’t smell and therefore enjoy. The perfumer seems like a lovely person. I often wonder if they test these perfumes out and are really okay with something only slightly detectable.

It honestly makes me sad that the name and concept were wasted on a juice like this. I expected a perfume named Blood Spider Orchids to be in the same vein as RDF’s best offerings: Leather Petals, Gold Leaves, and Jade Vines!!! I agree with statue_sweet’s comment about this being a cash grab, especially when masterpieces like Gold Leaves, which more align with the brand’s image, are tossed to the side. Sorry for mentioning three other perfumes in what’s supposed to be a review, but I think that just goes to show how much of a nothing burger fragrance this is lol

Was this an impulse blind buy? Yes. Do I regret it? No, not one bit. This is the perfect fall scent with spicy, sweet dark fruits that dry down like the best stewed apples, even though there is not one fruit mentioned in the notes. It envelopes me with wamth from the spice and a cocooning sweetness from the jasmine and tonka. I will have this in heavy rotation come the cooler months of fall and winter.

Instead of anything evocative of blood, spiders, or orchids, I got more sharp cinnamon and clove that melts into a bath and bodyworks fall-Esque apple pie cliché. Not bad if that's your niche, but in that case just get bath and bodyworks instead. I layered it with White Rice by D'Annaman and it turned into a more Christmas Hobby Lobby scent, enjoyable but unimpressive.

Reviews akin to Oajan, and oh, yes, I see that. This is lovely. I adore this. It’s very similar vanilla spiced woods, but instead of the strong woody base of Oajan, it’s floral notes. Oddly the florals remind me of lilac, but that might be the spring air doing that this week. Oajan with a creamy light floral base instead of the woods. I am loving this one.

As a witch and orchid lover this should be right up my alley. It's underwhelming. The initial blast is a divine cocktail of spices, at once familiar and alluring. Dries down to something way more subdued and generic autumn candle. It's a nice smell, but it lacks presence. If she were on Bake Off, Paul Hollywood would say she's all style, no substance.

Dense dark cinnamon mulled wine. Smells similar to sugar leather and angels share. I’m not sure what note it is but there is a jammy dark fruit floating around in there, not listed on any website. I blind bought this for my birthday and I’m so happy I did. This is my favorite regime so far.

I loved this on test strip and got a 1mL sample... On my skin? HOLY POTPOURRI BATMAN!! Unfortunately the comments with the Michaels Craft Store comparisons are ringing true for me. But honestly, one less RdF frag to lust after is good for my bank account, so, a net positive!

Christmas in a bottle. Warm cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and sugared notes. Amber drydown. A little bit creamy like a Chai Latte. It can be a little too much if you don't like spices. I will finish my sample. It feels well done but not sure I would buy a full bottle.

I want to like it but to me it’s a cloying autumn scented Bath and Body Works candle. It would be a much better room spray; I can’t imagine wearing this as a perfume. Very strong, very saccharine. Not my cup of tea, unfortunately!

I’m a cinnamon addict. I don’t mind smelling like Christmas vibes!! BUT, why do recent new, cinnamons, also smell of apple pie? Literally anything new with cinnamon, also has stupid apple pie smell. Grr

It’s so.... Gourmand? Raisin bread vibes. Cinnamon roll. Has a little bit of Ambre narguile dna. Kind of reminds me of outlands as well. But more sweet and approachable

The opening reminds me of Tom Ford Lost Cherry! No wonder Cherry Punk is also listed here. I love how this develops as it dries down!
