Leather Petals

This deserves to be a star from the RdF line-up. Beautiful, evocative and perfect for any gender. Very special, find yourself a sample and give it a try. It’s a great reprieve from the usual gourmand confections that are all the rage. (Not hating on gourmands, but we all need variety.)

The opener is very vintage and BIG. Powder. Iris. Then it moves into a gorgeous, soulful floral. Based on the name, I was expecting something kinda tough. But this is classicly beautiful.

Leather that is a deep bottle green in color, cooling and medicinal like vintage barber's soap. Iris, powdery and darkened by patchouli. Assertive, sensual and earthy. I love it.

This is a much more feminine fragrance than the name and notes imply. Its like smelling a fresh bouquet while sitting on a leather couch. I think it's pleasantly beautiful and feminine.

This is said to be an homage to New York City, but to me it smells much more of nature than anything particularly urban. The beginning is a moist dank cave full of old moldy soil and rotting leaves. It’s dense, animalic, and heavy. You can feel the greasy fur of the resident animal brushing against you. Before long though the perfume takes you to the side of the hill the cave sits within. There is an herbaceous green leather, and a fruity aspect from Davana. It makes me think of the grassy nest of some type of herbivore creature. There’s still a little soil and some dirty fur but the dank factor has lessened considerably, it’s as if the fragrance is starting to dry out. And that drier feeling sets the stage for this perfume’s 3rd act, by far my favorite. A hot dry leather, accented by an apricoty spicy osmanthus, carried in on the breeze. Maybe it’s a bird now, soaring on a heated summer wind. I’m not a fan of the 1st stage, the second stage is just ok, but I love this last stage. So overall Leather Petals gets a 3/5 from me. I think the name is misleading though, there’s not much floral in this. It lasts a solid 7 hours on skin.

This is stinky! & the stink never really goes away, but it warms up and rounds out sweetly. Leather Petals is giving bold, animalic floral bouquet that should've been tossed out at least a few days ago. Not an easy wear, but I've been lifting my wrist to my nose again and again throughout the evening... would be a perfect pick for a wintery night under a long fur coat or leather trench

Got a travel size in a full bottle purchase from Regime Des Fleurs - sprayed it once and thought, well that's a nice soft leather with some slightly medicinal greenage throughout. Well I kinda forgot about it for a couple months, and wore it today, and awoohoo!!! I fell in love with this. Leather, yes, but in a tufted vintage stool in an old boudoir kinda way. Where the furniture is all intricately hand-made from rare wood and there's expensive fabrics draped everywhere, and there's a haze of dust in the room. I also smell citrus in the top, like orange peel, or maybe even little grapefruit. The orris and patchouli in this are so well rounded and blended so perfectly it's balance is chefs kiss. And I think those are what give this the dark feminine edge I love. It has great sillage and lasts quite a while on my skin. Even though I would consider this a thicker deeper fragrance, I would 100% still wear this in the summer. There's something about all of the aromatics that lighten it up to this floaty sheer leather symphony. This might be one of my next full bottles.

Billed as an ode to New York, which is maybe why it didn’t jive with me as a certified Californian. I’m more of a fruity leather gal (see Byredo’s Bibliotheque or Black Saffron). The only floral I’m getting in Leather Petals is the phantom of such. A dried bouquet, forgotten in the back of a nightclub cloakroom. But there’s something too earthen, almost volcanic, about Leather Petals to be New York. A metropolis, roiling and smoking upon an eldritch wasteland. An ode to Isengard, perhaps. Mental Snapshot: Dark magic. Oiled leather, gunpowder, ashtray. But imagine one made of polished black marble. Saruman’s ashtray. tl;dr: orc influencer 👹🌃

Amouage Myths Woman lite. I described Myths Woman as a perfume a profoundly confident older woman would wear (think Miranda Priestley); Leather Petals is her younger understudy, her Andi Sachs. There really is something embedded in here similar to moldy dying flowers in a vase (leather meets galbanum) but I find this vastly more enjoyable and wearable than Myths. It’s gothy for sure. Infinitely more so than the misnamed Blood Spider Lily. I’m not a fan of delineating frags by age, but I don’t see many under thirty enjoying this. It’s mature, self-assured, that frag your boss’s boss wears.

There is something in the opening of this fragrance that I personally do not like. I agree with some of the other reviews that describe the first impression as rotten or moldy. To me it's just really pungent and green. I got the discovery set and noticed this smell was in a lot of the other perfumes. This has lasted on my skin now for 12+ hours it is extremely fresh still and traceable. The dry down is a powdery rich floral which I enjoy. Overall, just has a lot of character which is nice.

Opens with a pungent blast of sweaty verdancy. Vascular pectoral Artemisia in the vein of an 80s men powerhouse permeates the opening. Orris and osmanthus help soothe out the sour green prominence lending a sweet powdery accord that ushers in the leather. It's sour greens grappling with restrained hints of sweet. Last on my skin about 8hrs with good projection. Almost worthy of it's price tag..

I wore this fragrance and my girlfriend said she was no longer attracted to me and broke up with me on the spot. Now every time I smell it I get a ptsd trigger to her saying she no longer wants to be near me ever again. I hope Alia Raza is happy, because I never will be ever again.

the dry down is really amazing. as someone else wrote ir below “Its like smelling a fresh bouquet while sitting on a leather couch”. it’s not too flowery or too masculine.
