Willows

Beautiful powdery mimosa turning into a beautiful powdery iris scent. Unusual and easy to wear, initially I was thinking I wouldn’t fall for it but during the dry down I decided it was a love. This is well done and maybe it is the wheat note that makes this so unique. Whatever it is, it works. I can’t have everything I fall in love with, but would enjoy a used bottle. I can imagine many opportunities to wear this scent.

Willows is a gorgeous fragrance. It reminds me a little of Prada Infusion d'iris, but this has an unusual note, maybe the wheat. It's so sad that the fragrance is gone in a flash. One minute you are surrounded by a beautiful scent cloud and the next there is nothing. It literally lasted about an hour on my skin. With better longevity this would be a favourite.

At first, it smelled like a typical iris fragrance. The dry down is more interesting, with wheat coming out. It's powdery, floral, and a bit bitter smelling. It's blended very well, with nothing seeming out of place. It's quiet and subtle just like most of the other Regime des Fleurs fragrances and would be better worn on clothes than skin to help it last.

I love the way how it smells on my skin is feeling comfortably and it’s a compliment getter. Somewhat the warmth I capture all the time I wear this and the inedible sweetness of mimosa like if I could have smelt from a fresh flower like this scent. Maybe bees would have loved it, too.

Cold and powdery. The epitome of untouchable - I wear this when I want to channel Fleur Jaeggy.

The first puff of sillage smells like tender mimosa, but when I bring my nose close to the skin the scent is distinctly wheat-y. It has a coarse, bread-y aroma, and it reminds me of how the crust smells on the proper, dense bread, albeit without the toasty, baked vibe--which is a plus in my book. For a short moment it makes me think of Bois Farine, thanks to that bread-y vibe, but they're not really similar scent-wise. The woody notes dominate in Bois Farine whereas Willows grows more and more floral in the heart, so the resemblance to the l'Artisan fades out very quickly. Mimosa re-enters the stage in the drydown, joining forces with slightly starchy iris. The scent is sweet, clean and disarmingly pretty, playing the airy brightness of the mimosa off against a more powdery facet of the iris, a little as if someone experimented with combining doses of the mimosa-forward Impossible Iris and starchy Muskiris. I don't get much violet out of it, but there's a twist of tonka bean in the drydown, the softly powdery kind that gives off a little cherry facet. It fits very well in the overall clean, sweet and demure aura of the fragrance. A charming, dainty offering, like a more subtle and sublime take on the Lolita Lempicka aesthetic.

This smells so much like Orris Tattoo to me -- both are lovely, neither are my favorite iris.

I've never been an iris fan, but this one gets me close. The tonka bean is really creamy and seductive, and the normally sharp florals are smoothed out by it. Ultimately, though, it smells a bit too powdery and cloying for me. I could imagine liking the smell on someone else, but it doesn't match my vibe that well.

frankly, i have never smelled iris, violet, carrot seeds, or quite literally.. any of the notes themselves so in reality i truly can't give off a realistic description of what this perfume smells like. but the instant mental snapshot i get is similar to that of when i smelled Oh La La by Teo Cabanel; white collar corporate job, office, paper that is freshly printed and came out of the printer. at its first spray, i can get a whiff of a really forward wheat note that sort of reminds me of starchy flour, but mixed with paper that makes it very neutral. the scent then starts to slowly melt into a more softer, introverted feel with the absolute slightest hint of sweetness, but really, the scent journey isn't that complex and doesn't progress further than this. there's such a strong sense of neutrality here, and it doesn't fall into any.. conventional or commonly known gendered associations in perfumery. it's just in the middle, and its sophisticated, classy, quiet but stern. it has a similar aura with the term quiet luxury. minimalistic but goddamn is it cool. and honestly if anyone wore this i think they are a respectable individual in their field of work, and i would know that they are very dedicated to their work. that google calendar is packed, schedule is tight, she's on time, and she knows how to get shit done. if this perfume had a song, it would be Portal by Fine, or Disappear by Mazzy Star. https://open.spotify.com/track/7LYCoMFe1ciXBMdwZLmvG2?si=11a4a04d56274438 https://open.spotify.com/track/0dYOhXotUJibq5j61vZQVg?si=8a9bbd9656184557 and by the way, this smells exactly like Encore and Oh La La by Teo Cabanel mixed together. i have both perfumes sampled and i smelled them together and yeah.. it is 98% similar. though i will say Willows have a more softer dry down. updated: for some reason, on the dry down i feel like the base smells like Zoologist perfumes lol idk how to describe.. just very Zoologist-y..

Someone mentioned melancholy, and I think this is interesting. How can a perfume be melancholy? But I can totally imagine it with Willows . It's cold, like iris is usually cold. Floral-cold and creamy. I think this is really nice. I'm always inclined to like powdery scents, and that is probably why I like this as well. I like it, but it was clearly not meant for me. You know sometime you just feel you borrowed someone else's perfume (although it's your own sample). I get this strange feeling of 'borrowing' here. It was not meant for me. I think this is feminine-leaning. I'm not an iris-perfume using woman. It's beautiful. Perhaps I would say mellow rather than melancholy. Ideal for autumn.

Willows is beautiful. It's also very difficult to describe because the notes sound so odd, but they are put together perfectly. The iris mixes with the carrot seed giving Willows a lovely, almost starchy quality that cool and appealing. The mimosa provides a sweet, light floral and the tonka gives the fragrance an almost cherry-almond base. If I read about this perfume, I'd think it wasn't for me - starchy? carrot seed? wheat? It doesn't make sense when you read about it, but it's great when you smell it.

Perfect mimosa and orris-buttery iris, just a touch of violet. Soft and cold and powdery green, with a touch vanillic warmth. This perfume is nostalgic for me as it reminds me of my grandmother yet doesn’t smell vintage or “old ladyish” at all to me. This is a comfort scent. I think it projects quite well and lasts. I’m so glad to have a bottle of this discontinued perfume!

Fairly poor projection and performance, but the real nail in the coffin for willows is a weird Dr pepper accord, that I think I'm going to chalk up to the iris. It really reminds me of ELDO's she was an anomaly, and I've never heard anybody else complain about it so it's probably personal, but a deal-breaker nonetheless.

FYI, the notes list on the carded sample I received is slightly different: White Pepper, carrot seed, mimosa, orris root butter, rye, violet, tonka bean absolute. Starts off very violet-y, which I dislike, then becomes a more neutral, almost savory powdery smell. VERY light. It's weirder than the notes make it seem.

Smells like a happy memory, faded by time. Comforting yet melancholic. I hope the brand re-releases this at some point.
