Balqis Reine de Saba

I love Reine de Saba fragrances. I sampled some of their fragrances and I couldn't find one that I didn't liked. They have a beautiful line of unique, beautiful fragrances, for every tastes, that really worth the check. Their collaboration with very well known master perfumers resulted in some wonderful creations. BALQIS Reine de Saba opens with a bright mix of citruses and osmanthus, with very soft peachy nuances and a bit of spiciness. An elegant scent of magnolia, with a slight of earthy undertones is added shortly. Balqis evolves beautifully on it's way to the dry down, turning into a more sultry, warm and creamy sandalwood-vanilla scent, with a floral bouquet in the background. Because of its earthy touch and soft spiciness, I would say that BALQIS is a good fit for men and women as well. I enjoy wearing this to the office. Smells elegant and unique.

I wasn’t expecting to love this one so much with all the other intriguing offerings from this house. Balquis manages to be texturally soft without being too powdery, and sweet without being juvenile or cloying. The final dry down is a gorgeous creamy vanilla sandalwood. Great work from Lorson!

I normally don’t like patchouli (looking at you Chanel Coco Mademoiselle) but this I can get on board. Another perfume that has patchouli that appeals to me is Estée Lauder Modern Muse. It’s got a good mix of spiciness with flowers and creamy vanilla. The dry down is pleasant. The notes are well blended when they settle on my skin. It’s warm but with character. Nice. Chic

Vegetal scent with musky vanilla dry-down. Is neither too citrusy nor too peppery but it has nice subtle uplifting quality remining of a freshly cut herb. It's very light and stays close to the skin. Pleasant but a little characterless. Unisex.

Pretty, safe, pleasant sent without being unique or original. The performance on my skin is next to none, but this could be just my skin.

Smells like orange pez with black pepper

Peppery, orange-y, crushed-vitamin scent on top of an ultra-personal patchouli musk. Like, a Narciso Rodriguez level of personal musk -- flirting with that clean/dirty boundary -- but a totally different DNA. The patchouli here is devoid of any camphor or sharpness; it's a hazy, fuzzy, almost glandular (sorry), flesh-on-the-bones, old-school patchouli with feathered edges. The vanilla is so evenly distributed that I don't get vanilla as such -- it's as if the whole composition rests on an off-white, pillowy vanilla canvas. In the base, I do get an amber sharpness that reminds me somewhat of Dior Homme Intense. Very retro, thoroughly unisex. I love it! (And by they way, what is it about pepper notes that evokes the cozy smell of someone you love? Pink pepper -- absent here -- often gives the impression of clean skin and black pepper reminds me of hair and scalp.)

I actually do get the nod to tocade... there's something about the amber that made me think of it too...however...to me...this is if franceeca bianchi byzantium amber and miller harris violet ida somehow got their genes mixed up with a sparkly and very very nice 90s style amber (not sure why I thought of tocade ae this is so much nicer and higher quality)... probably my favourite from the range so far and totally different to ambre in the same range (which is more of a modern idea of amber...the smooth warm aromachemically kind of amber)...I guess it makes sense this is Nathalie Lorson and this might just be the amber I've been looking for (ambre nuit is on my wishlist but is more smoky than sparkly... totally different styles of amber).

Soft powdery patchouli scent, with some sweet floral touches from the magnolia and Heliotrope. Patchouli here is dominant, it is fresh, green, aromatic. Not dirty but close to "skin like" sensation. Elegant and smooth, seems they were inspired by Chanel scents. I like it.

On the beginning you smell a coco chanel then it will be gris Dior and the base it similar to Dries Van Noten FM no thing special.
