Merveilleuse Saba

An invigorating and modern rose/tea combo, I really dig this. A less sought out option from the brand but it deserves some love. The clary sage helps to tame the rose and keeps it refreshing; this is nothing like that vintage rose/tea fragrance (I’m sorry I forgot the official name, but most of you probably know what I’m talking about lol) perfect for an easy going spring or summer day. This isn’t too complex but it’s certainly executed well.

This was the best offering in the brand to me. It's a pleasant tea scent suitable for spring and summer daytime. Opens up a little spicy with slight florals and a noticeable tea scent throughout. I would say this is deserving of a 4.3 rating or so. Projection is moderate. (It's a tea scent) Longevity well I feel reapplying after 3-4 hours. This is nice for a short errand out, a quick coffee or lunch. Could be an office scent, I'd invest in an atomizer though. Value to me at $325 is ridiculous. Funny enough, the owner of this brand has a podcast on YouTube criticizing brands with low costs and high prices. I think for this scent I'm happy to pay $80 tops if u factor in the over the top presentation which I don't care for $100 or so. Also the over the top presentation with that enormous cap makes this fragrance difficult to use in the car or in ur gym bag. Those two places are where I'd want to have access to this the most. I bought the discovery set for the brand I tried the whole set with two friends on two different occassions as well as randomly at home. Three different sessions to find something to buy from the brand. Although you had top noses, nothing felt really innovative, especially not at the price point. Many of them share this West looking at the East vibe so Eastern perfume as imagined by Western noses as opposed to Frederic Malle's Eastern perfumes viewed from within the Middle East just French execution. I hope that's clear. The brand was a disappointment I gave the discovery set away to a fellow fraghead. I don't believe they bought anything either. The other offerings that were decent-ish Divine Tentation I don't even know how this was award-winning given it's a similar DNA to Angel's Share, Oajan, Ambre Tabac which all were riding Ambre Narguile's coattails. Even with the 20 years gap between them I find the Hermes is still the clear winner. The other two were Olivier Cresp's oud and Maurice Roucel Fig/Rose. Decent but not at these prices which are just about 5% below Frederic Malle. If this attempt was trying to replicate what Frederic Malle did over 25 years in 2 years it was an epic and utter fail. Overall brand (All perfumes average 7-8) Packaging is the plus point. Gift this to a non fraghead they will be impressed thinking like its the best brand on earth. Value for money to me. I would pass on 80% of the line, I would buy Alex Lee's Tea (This) and Roucel's Fig/Rose at $100-120 max. That's factoring in the packaging. Had this brand went for cheaper packaging and lower prices targeting $120 I think it would've had something for most people to at least consider. So brand pricing and execution. Epic fail. Kudos to Alex Lee for a marvelous creation. Hope to see more of his work elsewhere.

This is a really lovely rose/tea/bergamot fragrance. Completely unisex. But is it really worth the FB price when there are a zillion other, almost identical rose/tea/bergamot fragrances out there? It might be, if only because compared to the others in that category, this one has really great longevity.
