Secret de Musc

I find this fragrance very understated but classy and elegant. It’s almost like a modern molecule fragrance in that it’s there but almost not there. It doesn’t shout its presence and feels light but also potent as I keep getting wafts of alluring musky tones. This is mainly about the musk with subtle touches. It’s fresh and clean but comforting too with hints of citrus, spice and slight floral tones, underpinned with an almost fizzy muskiness. Fortunately, I don’t get lots of lavender which would make this a different proposition. It’s all blended together in such a way as to create a vibe rather than specific notes. I see this as being a cross between Le Labo’s Cedrat and Bond’s Governors Island. The initial spray is bright, fizzy, sweet and slightly sharp, leaning a touch masculine. I find it a bit ‘perfumey’ initially but it’s the dry down where the magic really happens. As it dries down, the citrus and spice dissipates to leave a soft, comforting musky trail that lingers and is quite addictive. On my clothes, I can see why some say it reminds them of Creed’s MI but I don’t get so much of that on my skin and, personally, it’s not really a fragrance that reminds me of MI. Performance seems fairly decent with good longevity (I’ve been wearing it all day and I’m still noticing it). It wears light but is noticeable. Overall, it’s pretty much unisex although some times it feels slightly feminine and yet other times leans slightly masculine. I think this is one of those fragrances where people will get quite different experiences so it definitely needs a test. I broke a rule and blind bought this because I couldn’t get a sample but I’m really glad I did. It just draws me in and leaves me with a very pleasant feeling. Time will tell if I want better performance from it, although at the moment the lightness of touch seems very in keeping with the overall sophistication of the fragrance. I wish it were slightly more masculine leaning but overall, a very nice fragrance indeed.

Smells great. Reminds me of Millesime imperial.

Glorious fragrance. Low-key, musky citrus executed to extreme levels of refinement. Clean and comforting, smells classic and modern at the same time and doesn't overdo any particular note whilst being mostly about the musk. If you like elegant, understated fresh smells definitely check this one out!
