Guimauve

I love this one - although once the top notes fade a little, it's quite a simple perfume, an "artisanal" marshmallow perfume, (I think basic is the wrong word - it isn't, & it's VERY French, I really do like it, it's lovely,) but I often spray it, & they layer it, later - some ppl say it's quite "flat" after the top notes, & I see what they're getting at - but no; some of those Paco Rabanne (& even JPG, now) ALL made by Puig, unfortunately - dry down to a v flat, cheap-y vanilla base - that they buy by the millions of gallons, no doubt - & boy are they flat, but this isn't, but it is, quite simple, in the far dry down - so if that's not for you, then maybe try a different one - & if you're looking for a less expensive Killian LDBS - then you want Dragee (which I find a little bit too mandarin orange, a little bit "thick" maybe almost a little "syrupy') - but then I struggle with any "too food-y" gourmande - & with Dragee - for all it's noticeable mandarin orange - it's just not a gourmande with a "fresh" / citrussy aspect - it's just v foodie indeed, & as said, a thick one; there's also a slightly soapy quality to me, too - it's merely ok, & not my thing, tbh - but I 100% do, prefer Dragee to LDBS, (bc LDBS is a bit too much, & way too syrupy/orange blossom - so there it is. I wouldn't say this was toothpaste-y - & I certainly don't find any Lily of the Valley, or similar; tbh the floral accord in here is v subtle, (& I'm thinking more like clover; la Guerlain AA Herba Fresca - but only a little, & some, subtle orange blossom, in here) - & nowhere near as much, as in Killian LDBS, or even Dragee (although Dragee does hv some similarities with Guimauve, but I prefer this so much, more - it is true to it's name, it really does smell like French country, artisanal, guimauve. Actually, I do have to be in mood, to wear Rem Guimauve - hv to want to wear a "marshmallow perfume" - & I don't wear it everyday, (unless away, for a weekend/long weekend etc - just occasionally, but it's lovely (it's maybe not a super hot weather wear, obvs) - but the mint/lavende/rosemary/vanille marshmallow-goodness, I find to be so v French, maybe even a little vintage; am in Paris, Grenoble, (& in Northern France,) quite a bit outside of the pandemic - & during the worst of the pandemic, this has always reminded me of being there + it's such a great, cuddly, comfort perfume, if that's what you feel like. Spray 3, or 4 times - & it's gentle but present, 3 more than 4, rlly - bc it is a true gourmande perfume - & more could be too much. It isn't though one of those gourmand perfumes that after 10 minutes you hv to wash off, bc it's gotten to be too much - sprayed lightly, this is subtle & beautiful - although as said, the top notes may surprise some - the mint is good, the rosemary/lavende etc may come as a surprise to some; it's quite "herbal" almost, in the beginning - & the ambergris throughout gives a richness & a much more substantial nature, even if it is, almost delicate - & bc of these thgs, you wouldn't mistake this for any mainstream, U.S, designer perfume - it's v European, & definitely "artisanal" - less sugar, less mass produced & less than most standard gourmandes - & definitely all the better for it. There is something just slightly bitter & "herbal" through this, alongside the ambergris, within the mix of this gorgeous, not too sweet marshmallow accord - & to me, Rem did an amazing job - it's not like any other perfume, amongst my several hundred bottles;I must not, must not, must not, order any more - until at least after Christmas, or this time next year, more like) - ppl on Fragrantica are the worst enablers; I blame you all!

Amazing MARSHMALLOW that pulls together diverse elements... Once the spray dries and the sillage starts to open up, I can feel the powdery almond accented by citrus, fresh-spicy & aromatic nuances. I don't know how they did it, but the overall effect, even in the opening, is "guimauve", or marshmallow. As it transitions to the heart it gets sweeter and white-florals emerge including neroli & jasmine with clean, fluffy, sweet, green & spicy nuances that are all somehow pressed into the service of the marshmallow effect. As it's drying down, the vanilla comes more forward, while tonka here leans to the powdery, sweet, soft-spicy, woody & tobacco-flower facets, rather than the fruity aspects. Musk and sandalwood here fluff up the marshmallow with creamy sweetness. Overall you get an amazing fresh marshmallow that's nuanced from the powdery exterior, to the pillow-y softness, to the creamy sweet interior. The performance is slightly above average for year round wear. This was love at first scent for me. 10/10. Enjoy! Contrast to Love Don't Be Shy By Kilian: These are different, but there are similarities with a marshmallow vibe. Love Don't Be Shy has a more forward caramel quality in the drydown, while Guimauve keeps it in the range of powdery marshmallow sweetness. Guimauve has stronger performance. Update 03/09/25: Have been wearing this off and on over the last few days. It's so creamy marshmallow-y, but I was also struck by an impression of orange-blossom although it's not listed int he notes. It's stayed on my coat for 3 or 4 days so far. I paired it with Orange Flower Oscar de la Renta to bring the impression of orange-blossom out even further. I can pick out all the notes if I look for them, but the first 4 ranked notes are the most dominant (vanilla, almond, tonka, neroli). Love it a lot.

another perfume that i would've missed out on based only on the notes and main accords. i love this perfume so much. it reminds me of a dollhouse, dusted with marshmallows powders. powdery marshmallows, a bit minty but it keeps the fragrance from being too sweet. there's also a bit of soft, cute sweater-wearing grandma vibes and sugary, powdery scent that i love about this. it's a very... cute fragrance!! it's soft and fluffy and the minty note really does bring a layer of fresh attitude to this scent that is otherwise a little dollhouse named 'guimauve'! 💗 [this is my ideal day to day, comforting and cozy and huggable fragrance. it's a dollhouse for sure and i want to be a doll so badly so it's perfect for me, haha. when someone says "you smell like your house" type of fragrance and this is the fragrance 😍 i really do live in a house that looks like a dollhouse so it feels very personalized] also: i know about this perfume from gabbylovesperfumes, she mentioned the three within this set and she was very accurate even down to the mint being a tad unpleasant 😅, but the reviewer who really sold it was chrissylove. she mentioned it smells like hotel shampoo and i love chic and stylized, romantic hotel settings. preferably if there are surrounding palm trees, jazzy music playing, a café within the resort, cool winter air, something about it is artistically sleazy and i just really love it 💘🌴🌹

The PERFECT blend of green/gourmand! I am a lover of both of those genres, and this is the best of both worlds! Guimauve is such a beautifully blended fragrance and honestly surprised me with how much I enjoy it. I can definitely appreciate the LDBS references from the neroli, but I don't find Guimauve nearly as cloying. I know a few reviewers have stated that this marshmallow is much more of a powdery take, like the outside dusting of an artisan marshmallow. I would say this is a pretty accurate description. The powdery-ness of this fragrance is also reminiscent of 'chalkier' candies like candy hearts or Neccos. Honestly, this is the first fragrance I have come across described as "powdery" and I am not immediately reminded of old ladies when I smell it. The notes truly work so well together to make this a light girly scent. Even my boyfriend commented and said this smelled "pink" and "girly", which is a pretty good description from him! haha Overall, I actually prefer Guimauve to LDBS. I find this to be comparable, but I definitely wouldn't call this a dupe by any means. This is a good option if you also find LDBS to be cloying. Uplifting green notes balance the fragrance but may be off-putting to some. Good year-round fragrance and I find myself reaching for this one VERY frequently!

I am surprised that people list this as a predominantly winter scent as to me this is a brilliant sunny summers day smell. It has been properly hot here today, not just "British hot" which seems to be quite cool by the standards of some! But today, clear blue skies, the sun shining down, the temperature hitting 28 degrees Celsius and this perfume smelled fantastic! As others have said this is a really "pretty" smell that luckily does not venture into the categories of cloying, sickly sweet or cheap smelling. It has quite an airy feel, projecting well and creating a lovely gentle aura of scent around the body. While I have worn and enjoyed this during much cooler weather and enjoyed it, for me it really shines in the warmth of summer. I also find that this scent reminds me quite a lot of Guerlain La Plus Beau Jour de ma Vie, not quite the same but for me very similar, which is an added bonus. Longevity is moderate to long lasting and projection of about 2 feet. Definitely one worth trying, it is now going very definitely into my Want list.

I used to own Love Don't Be Shy and it had an off note on my skin that reminded me of a warm locker room. It might read sexy on some folks, but on me I couldn't stop feeling self-conscious. I eventually sold that bottle, but I was a little sad about it. I love marshmallow scents. I recently acquired Guimauve Reminiscence for a cheap price with low expectations. Reminiscence has that same marshmallow-y blossom that I enjoyed so much in Love Don't Be Shy without any of the BO accord.. Don't let the note pyramid deceive you, it all blends together into a candied white floral, sweet and decadent--just like the cute bottle. I can't really detect any rosemary, mint, or lavender but I can speculate that together with vanilla these could read powdery sweet like marshmallow. Projection is LOUD, it will fill the room, so two sprays are really all you need. I put it on at 6am, went on a run, drank coffee, ran errands, and came home. Six hours later, I still smell it. A great scent for a hot day, but I could see it wearing well in cool weather too.

Finally put my hands on the third bottle of this lovely collection. First: I love the packaging, vintage and pastel, perfect for a romanic woman of any age. The line is gourmand but not overly sweet and powerful, it is actually a french, grown-up and refined gourmand, with a complex and well balanced pyramid of ingredients. This one in the line, Guimauve, is my preferred one. I never ate french marshmallows (guimauve) but I love this complex scent that is pleasant, cozy, comforting. Every single note is not easy to detect, there is definitely an almond accord with petit grain, lavender and neroli, then jasmin and neroli will prevail. The beauty of this fragrance is mainly the skills to be a strong memories-evocative scent, able to brings you back 'reminiscences' of dolls and fragrant countryside. My second preferred is Dragee, which is very (too) similar, while I have mixed feelings for Heliotrope. It is truly an hidden gem, safe office scent, safe blind buy if you love gourmand fragrances. Recommended 4/5

Such a strong opening on a blind buy, I thought I'd hit the jackpot with this beauty. I had, but it didn't last. Sadly it totally vanished from sight (or rather, nostril) after only an hour. I wondered if I'd maybe not sprayed enough, so give myself another seven or eight, all over. All that remains is a beautiful and delicate powdery rose on my clothes. It's totally gone from my skin. I keep getting the most delightful whiffs as I move, from the top I'm wearing and I so wish the longevity was better. I'd pay more if it was, please note Reminiscence! It puts me off buying more in their range, in honesty. Such a promising opening, strong medicinal mixed with powder, like walking into an old world sweet shop or pharmacy. Dries down to powdery hints of rosey musk, with sandalwood and ambergris wafting in and out. I ADORE THIS but it makes me sad that I'm going to end up going through it faster than a body spray, for the price.

It's interesting how polarized this perfume is when it comes to comparing it to Love don't be shy. I tried my LDBS sample yesterday and recieved Guimauve in the mail today. The opening isn't quite alike LDBS. I pick up a lot of mint (which is outstanding here!) lavender and bergamot. But during the dry down I definitely smell LDBS here. It's not as sickeningly sweet and cloying as LDBS is, but apart from that they are TRULY very very similar! Guimauve is in fact more wearable. I think Love don't be shy is way too juvenile even though I love it, but since guimauve doesn't have that prominent marshmallow note it is it a more sophisticated. As I said - they ARE very similar! And guimauve is MUCH more affordable. I paid around 30 euros for my beautiful 100 ml bottle. Great longevity too! If you love LDBS but think it's too expensive, give this one a go! Dossier made a great dupe of it too called floral marshmallow.

OMG! After three years of search, finally! It seems I kept missing out on this one every time it was available on Fragrancenet or FragranceX, but after setting a notification to be sent when it's available again, I finally scored a bottle, for a whopping 30 bucks! I just opened it, and I honestly can't say what wowed me more, the bottle or the magic liquid inside of it. However, i can not really call Guimauve a gourmand, even though that is what this perfume is supposed to be. I definitely smelled this before, way back when i was a little girl (i am in my 40's now). I am not sure what it was, someone's perfume or someone's face/hand cream, but I smelled this before, and a long time ago. It has a vintage feel, so it might be an acquired taste for those who prefer sweet, modern fragrances. As for me, I consider this one of my top 20 in my collection. Absolutely amazing.

A gourmand that's not too sweet, but soft, fluffy,airy and a bit powdery. Yes I get marshmallows, but it reminds me more of a type of meringue cream that my grandmother used for her cakes. It's such a soothing and comforting scent, and soo different from other gourmands. Like it's in a category of its own. It's so well blended that it's hard to distinguish individual notes. But it takes me places... somewhere in France, at a patisserie, a young petite lady dressed in pastel colors is waiting in line and this is scent trail she leaves behind. You feel like an airy meringue is hugging you. Life is not so bad. Another thing I must mention is that this has a soft sillage, as it should. It would probably be suffocating any other way. It's a scent you wear for yourself, when you want to feel comforted and cuddled. Even better if you have a special someone to cuddle with :)

I expected Guimauve to be a mainly lavender and vanilla fragrance, which is a note combination I absolutely love. Well, Guimauve isn‘t quite that, but I love it nevertheless. It‘s a wonderful mix of sweet and fresh. Ultra-creamy vanilla, tonka and almond combined with a lot of cooling mint, green and herbal notes and just a smidge of lavender, rounded with a beautiful neroli note. If this is a marshmallow (=guimauve), it‘s a gourmet artisanal one, or maybe even more of a marshmallow fluff. It‘s not powdery and dry, just extremely fluffy and creamy, like a cloud of pastel pinks, greens and yellows swirling into each other, smooth, well-blended and one of a kind. A multifaceted gourmand, girly and somewhat innocent, but with depth. It starts out quite intense but becomes more mellow quickly, so I‘d say this is ideal for daytime wear. It makes me happy to smell this :)

I have to admit that I barely wear this fragrance. I am wearing it today because I have a bit of rosemary oil in my hair so I picked a perfume that had a rosemary note hoping they would pair nicely together. Well, well, well! I am loving Guimauve more than any other time I've worn it. It’s sitting so pretty and really developing in this mild Midwest winter weather. I'm able to detect more of the individual notes now, than during summer. I finally smell the citrus and green brightness. It's not pulling too sweet or cloying. It's more a dusty sweetness, not so powdery. Very lovely! This smells nothing like LDBS. Similar vibe, although to me LDBS is very thick in sweetness, while Guimauve is airy in comparison and is a beauty all its own. It's quite soft and doesn't project too far. A close comfort, if you will.

This lovely gourmand fragrance has quickly become one of my top five favorites. While still drying, its mostly about the mint and citrus. Then for a lengthy period, Guimauve reminds me very specifically of Evening in Missoula tea (give it a quick Google), the herbal tea version of Dr Pepper or rootbeer. After a couple hours, this herbal accord transforms into the most delicate marshmallow note. I've read other reviews suggesting it smells like the powdered cover of an undisturbed marshmallow. I agree. Guimauve creates a personal scent bubble without much projection... which is fine by me. I love wearing this to bed... I can still smell marshmallow in the morning. I also love Reminiscence's Heliotrope (powdery marscapone), and Dragee (powdery, woody gourmand). But Guimauve is my favorite. Love this! 🦋🧡🦋

It's a nice scent and I definitely smell the lavender, mint, and vanilla in it through the initial spray. The sillage is only "arms linked" or if someone gets within your circle with only spraying yourself 3x times.......now maybe you might need 6 to 8 sprays but I feel it would eventually choke you or the next man, woman, or child out with that many sprays" if in the same room" lol. Now at the dry down, I do get a slight bit of Killian "Love Don't Be Shy" vibe but it's only a tiny bit......it might be due to the tangerine, orange, neroli, or other green notes. It's also leans a bit powdery/sweet and It lasted 2 hours on my skin but I have yet to spray it on my clothes to see how it performs. I see this being worn in the spring, summer night "when it's cool" and fall.

This is heaven in a scent. I have been wearing it this past 6 months my husband adores it on me and always ask what is that perfume its lovely. Now I have a lot like most here but this is a new favorite. The scent is warm sensual and very beautiful, all the notes make it a gourmand but also a perfect oriental vanilla. The jasmine, almonds vanilla etc all compliment one another. Its not overpowering in any way just a scent that leaves you feeling very warm and reminds a little of Angel and John Galliano both favorites. This is a little more subtle but very beautiful its intoxicating and its so fresh and sweet when first on with a lovely dry down that is warm and sexy with a fresh twist. One for the ladies who know who they are. Enjoy it and treat yourself.

This is such a weird fragrance! I love it! When i first spray it on me it smells like menthol and bubblegum, then it evolves into a sort of powdery almond and rosemary scent that smells a bit soapy on me but in a very fresh clean sort of way. I cant stop smelling my wrist as its ever changing and so interesting. Finally it settles into a sweet spun sugar scent, sort of a grown up candy floss. When I first put it on I was very unsure, but the more I wore it the more I loved it. Im surprised by the amount of people who said this was a winter or night fragrance, as I think this is absolutely daytime, and probably all year. Its a bit too innocent for night time. I am very glad I blind bought and added to my collection.

This is just beautiful..hands down. From the feel of the box and design of it, to the pink and gold bottle with bow as an extra added touch, to the fragrance itself. I’m actually in awe at how pretty it is and that’s the word that sums this one up for me. It was a blind buy but I figured I’d be displaying that bottle either way and in first spray my eyes may have rolled back a little. It’s powdery, citrusy, musky, a touch bitter and sweet all rolled into one. I know it’s compared to LDBS but to me this is seriously it’s own fragrance. Longevity was amazing with 10+ hours and had moderate sillage. I expected this one to be super soft but most definitely is not. It’s a love for me

Whoever is voting this to be a dupe for LDBS, needs to get themselves checked. You should spend more time with both of these perfumes, obviously, and not samples off of ebay, but full authentic bottles. They are nothing alike. I have and wear both.GR has a sharp note that cuts like a blade over your jawline, and it screams mature, sexy woman. LDBS is practically sweetness of the entire World, packaged, more appropriate for girls under 30, even though i wear it at my glorious 49. This misinformation that is running lately on Fragrantica is worrisome. I wonder how many people are missing out on great perfumes because of others buying questionable samples on the internet.

If I had a beautiful and feminine daughter, with a sweet and sunshiney disposition -- this would no doubt be her scent. This is drop dead pretty, people! To me it is definitely of the Loukhoum family. Reminds me very much of the Keiko Mecheri scents that are Loukhoums. I have a large decant of Loukhoum Poudre, and that fragrance fills my space for this type of almond, powdery and puffy goodness. But if I didn't have the KM, I would surely get a nice decant of this pretty gal. She is something that doesn't suit my "persona" but I can wear her at home, especially in bed. Cuddly delicate deliciousness. I'll bet my man will enjoy snuggling with me wearing this. ;)

This is my second favorite in the collection with the green bottle being my first. This one is the sweetest in the collection. They all blast strongly at first spray then settle into a skin scent. First spray of this is magnificent. So delicately herbal and sweet and fresh all at the same time. Its unique and yummy. If you look at the notes above, this is exactly what you will smell in each stage. One note doesnt overpower the other. The notes are all equally present which makes an incredible unique scent. I would say I find this collection romantic, a sweet innocent first love.

This perfume smells exactly like Nino Amaddeo's La vie revee. Not surprising as I believe Nino used to work for Reminiscence before starting his own brand in 2019. This is a beautiful and slightly sweet powdery fragrance. If you can't get your hands on La vie revee, get this. Or vice versa. They are the same. I have both and tested side by side. This will probably end up on my swap shelf only because I already own LVR. Really lovely. PS- If you are afraid of the mint in this, don't worry. I don't get any at all. If you look at the notes of LVR there is nothing minty there.

one of my top favorite perfumes of all time. this is one of those perfumes i want to wear everyday but i love it so much i don’t want to waste it. the smell is very marshmallowey sweet and ‘fluffy’ smelling. you know how people say some perfumes give off a ‘just got out of the shower vibe’? well this is i just took a bubble bath with the most expensive soap kind of vibe. clean smelling sweet perfume, the opening i can smell the mint as well but that kind of disappears after like 30 minutes on me. in LOVE with this perfume. everyone should have this imo.

This house has definitely got their goumandes collection right! This is pure sweet marshmallow, cotton candy-ish with a light dusting of superfine powder, just like real marshmallows. They couldn't have made this any more true to the name if they tried. If you're looking for a sweet but not teen scent that smells like marshmallow you need this. The woods and resins surface ever so gently in the mid-base, providing some depth and another interesting facet but not detracting at all from the sweet beauty. Love it.

OMG, wow this is so beautiful and for the price it’s better than Kilians LDBS! I saw this mentioned on a YouTube video and I just had to try it! Boy am I glad I did. This my HG from now on. Such a creamy vanilla with a hint of floral. this is what Prada Candy should be. Wow I’m so happy this is in my collection. this is more of a feminine scent than Unisex. Hands down this is better than some niche brands. Vanillic fruity gourmand scent. Highly recommended. A definite must try and at such a good price!

Reminiscence is definitely not for the average person, if you’re into niche you will def appreciate this. The herbal top notes is what probably scares away most people (honestly not me tho bc I like the lavender mint combo). Good out of the shower scent and grows on you as the day goes by. Starts as a fresh aquatic herbal fragrance then transitions to a light marshmallow with AMAZING sillage. Lasts on moisturized skin for about 8 hrs, skin scent up to 12 h. Good for all ages imo

Powdered candied hearts, White tictacs and Jordan almonds. No, there isn't any “unlisted” wintergreen note. It's the herbal notes and mint, contrasting with the petitgrain and neroli. I love this quirky fragrance. I wish it wasn't discontinued. If you don't like ultra sweet orange blossom fragrances and you also enjoy herbal/green notes, check this one out. There's nothing else like it

I scored this for 44 bucks on FragranceNet and I’m SO HAPPY. I know it can be hard to find here and there but this literally smells like an artisanal marshmallow. Sweet and powdery with a beautiful herbaceous undertone. It’s gentle but still very long lasting and strong. Sweet vanilla overdose with fluffy marshmallows just make this so so good. I can’t stop smelling my wrist tbh.

It's a heavy, rich, powdery marshmallow, with herbs and some spices. NOT your typical 'young' gourmand. The beauty of this is indeed in the drydown, which smells quite "fluffy". It is quite complex contrary to what you would expect from a girly bottle (which to me is actually super adorable).. Recommended for gourmand lovers that also likes spicy/oriental.

With a name “Marshmallow” you would think this is immature scent, but this is grown-up feminine sophisticated and beautiful gourmand fragrance. Review right below mine (by Sofia87) describes notes and performance perfectly. If you like complex not overly sweet, powdery, almondy FRESH gourmands - try this beautiful concoction....it is divine.

I love this scent, smells like very expensive and very well-made lotion. Lavender, neroli, and almond are the most dominant to my nose, balanced by a soft vanilla and solid tonka. Amazing sillage and long-lasting, it's such a comforting and nostalgic scent. And the bottle, how lovely! Looks like it would be on Sleeping Beauty's dresser.

I have tried this one, I was at first sceptical because of the name ( Guimauve is the French for Marshmallow) But it was NOT the immature perfume I was expecting ! Definitely not ! Yes, it is sweet , but it is very complex and interresting ! BTW I believe this scent is "MiFa" , with just a different name , am I right ? O_o Confusing ...

Wow, what even is this? I don't know how to describe it, but I am very fond of it! Carrot cake (cold, out of the fridge) and marshmallows doused in lavender and herbs? Sweet but decidedly aromatic and complex. I had no idea what to expect before smelling it and I am pleasantly surprised that I still have no idea.

Just got a bottle in that I ordered from Fragrancenet.com for about $45. The youtube, Takira Thompson raved about it, so I had to try it! It so good, reminds me of actual marshmallow dusting. Kinda gives me vibes of Kilian Princess and D&G pour femme. The bottle is soooo feminine and pretty!

This is amazing! I can detect almonds, citruses, herbs, sea notes and floral notes, but despite that, this scent quickly transforms into a lactonic comforting skin scent with a hint of candy aroma. It's quite interesting and intoxicating, yet pretty light.

Very good alternative to Kilian's Love dont be shy. Fair Lonegevity and projection. Good value for money. best love dont be shy dupe in my opinion. Heavy citrus and marshmallows but warm syrupy undertone

This has that sweet marshmallow quality I love in LDBS, but sadly it isn’t as sweet. I think this is full bottle worthy, but I’ll have to wear it for a day to see if the florals are migraine-inducing.

@advabart I have both and they smell exactly the same! I'm also wondering about the BIG difference of the notes as you! Hmmmm Anyhow, Guimauve IS Mi Fa - lovely scent, one of my faves!

All three Les Notes Gourmandes are wonderfully warm, sweet and cozy. All are more or less almond based but they are still uniquely different. I started with Heliotrope, then added Dragee and soon realized that I had to complete the trio with Guimauve, although the minty note in Guimauve made me hesitate for a while. So here is a short comparison of the Notes Gourmandes: Heliotrope - has the strongest almond base with the intensity of bitter almond and vanilla extract used for baking or in marzipan. The green color of the bottle perfectly references swedish princess cake. Heliotrope really is like princess cake in a bottle but with a fresher, greener twist. The fig and the green notes are subtle and very well-blended but take this Note Gourmande out of the warm, sweet, cozy kitchen and into the fresh green smell of a winter garden on a cool autumn/winter day. Definitely a cold weather scent for me. Dragee - probably my favorite, although the least gourmand of the three. Here almonds are replaced by almond blossoms, combined with orange blossoms, petigrain and cardamon for a slightly spicy, citrussy freshness. There is a vanilla base that gives it that gourmand quality, but it is the 'spicy florals' that set Dragee apart from the other two in the series. Dragee is the lightest, subtlest and least 'offensive' of the Notes Gourmandes and is a scent that works all year round. Guimauve - fluffy, sugary, pink vanilla marshmallow, but not the cheap supermarked type. More the exclusive ones you buy in tiny, expensive bags in an artisan shop in Provence where the lovely scent of lavender, rosemary and other herbs in the store infused into the little guimauves (marshmallows). It is a very girly/feminine fragrance but in a grown-up, sophisticated way - if that makes sense. It is just a lovely lovely take on the sugary gourmand scent that hugs you with its warm cozy sweetness but keeps it interesting with the herbs, petigrain and pepper in the background. I was worried about the mint being too dominant (not a favorite of mine), but it very quickly blends nicely into the background and does not bother me at all. I'm not getting an awful lot of almond, by the way, and don't understand why 'marshmallow' is not among the notes of the fragrance pyramid, like it was for Mi Fa in Reminiscence's original Notes Gourmandes series, that Guimauve is heavily based on. All three are very interesting, very well-blended gourmands, each one with its own herbal, spicy, fruity, citrussy twist that takes it from pure gourmand to another level ("french niche gourmand"). Sillage is moderate on all of them. When it comes to longevity, Guimauve and Dragee last a good 5 hours on me, while Heliotrope lasts all day. I really love them all and find it difficult to rank them. If you can't decide which to buy and have the resources to get all of them, go for it.

Guimauve by Reminiscence has been on my wishlist for ages, so when I saw they were discontinuing this one, I had to scoop up a bottle while I could. I always start with the bottle in my reviews and this one absolutely suckered me in, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. This is one of those beautiful, girly, romantic bottles you can’t help but want to hold and sample. I think it suits the fragrance inside very well, though I definitely don’t feel the scent is for everybody. Definitely gorgeous to display, though. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but I can honestly say this fragrance smells EXACTLY how everyone has described it in reviews. While I would agree this is a fluffy, powdery marshmallow fragrance, the top notes are VERY herbal. I could immediately understand why some people said they found it off-putting, because if you’re expecting a gourmand, this is absolutely not the perfume for you. The top notes are where the herbs and flowers truly shine, however that is the ONLY time they seem to do so. Once the heart of the perfume begins to develop, those plants seem to fade away almost completely and the powdery confectioner’s sugar becomes the star of the show. This marshmallow is pillowy and airy, but not ozonic or particularly sticky sweet. It’s moreso the suggestion of a marshmallow than the gooey, chewy sweetness of eating one, almost the dusty remains of them in a bag or on a plate. This is a well-dressed lady on Easter throwing a tea party in her garden. Once the fragrance dries down, completely, it’s like a sweet, dry powder. I could easily see this being worn by anyone at any age, though I wouldn’t say it’s particularly mature. The sillage is somewhere between intimate and moderate, I wouldn’t particularly say it’s very strong but it’s not weak, it’s in that Goldilocks sweet spot of inoffensive but still there. This is definitely not going to be enough for nighttime or particularly extreme weather conditions and I don’t see it lasting all day. I see this as perfect for spring or autumn. I would highly recommend this for those who want something whimsical and light but who love the idea of a sudden burst of natural plants at first. Overall, I really enjoy this perfume. I don’t get turned off by the opening or the lack of projection, though many might. The bottle is very much to my taste and I think I will be reaching for this fairly often. Definitely a great blind buy for me, personally. 7/10, in a good way.

Oh my! I'm not sure WHAT to think about this scent yet, as I just got it today. I'm very surprised, to say the least. I was hoping for something very powdery in a non-gourmand way. Think Joseph Jivago Sweet Dreams or L'Erbolario Iris. I did not get either of those; BUT, Guimauve is NOT unpleasant, so please don't get me wrong. After the initial spray, I immediately thought of Sarah Jessica Parker COVET. Definitely green and almost airy. Where COVET was too sharp and green to me, the initial greenness of Guimauve was smoother, softer, and more wearable. After about 5 minutes, the change surprised me yet again. It all of a sudden made me think of HYPNOTIC POISON or MANDORLO DI SICILIA. This is when I got scared/worried. I can wear HP, but NOT MdS. HP is softer, smoother, and has a slight woodsiness that counters the sweetness wonderfully. MdS became too sweet and cloying. They both have a slight root beer note, but MdS turned into the ice cream of a root beer float and was just unbearably sweet to me. Fortunately, the root beer note went away as quickly as it came in Guimauve. It became more similar to HP, but then changes slightly. There's more of an underlying floral note in Guimauve. The base notes give it more complexity, and adds a hint of powder (though still not as much as I want). It's not too musky, woodsy, or floral. It's also no longer green. What I was initially afraid of, never came to be. I can see why someone above says that this isn't just a cold-weather perfume. It's actually quite lovely in warmer weather too. I'm not sure if it's good for stifling or even humid heat; but for now (in 80 degree dry heat), it's quite pleasant. The sillage is like a soft puff, coming out every now and then (sprayed on wrists only). It may be stronger sprayed on the neck. Staying power is quite decent. I'll update with that soon.

The intial spray gives me sweet bubblegum, herbal, slight minty vibes. I can tell it's gonna sit close to the skin. It’s LDBS’s shy looong lost herbal cousin. I live in Sweden and I read every single review before purchasing this. Like another Swede down below mentions, our chewinggum Jenka (taste like Rootbeer) comes to play. Also, it reminds me of liniment used for pain relief, but not quite as potent on the mint. It ́s a very girly scent. Gourmand and slightly minty, sweet but not overbearing. The orange/mandarine are sweet and juicy. The herbals really makes this fragrance interesting. Instead of being a boring sweet scent it has some aromatic green nuances. I don't love the opening as much as the drydown. I enjoy when the vanilla, tonka and sandalwood come out to play. The florals and mint take a step back to let the green notes, sweet fruits and base notes play harmonically. It leans feminine, little bit powdery and the name "Guimauve" (Marshmallow in French) is THE perfect name for this. Projection and sillage is not the best, lasts on me for 4+ hours. Would wear this in summer/spring with the heat. Not my first choice for date-nights or special events where I want something stronger. More bedtime, lay-in the sofa cozy up scent.

“Artisanal Sugar” Smells like marshmallows purchased from a vendor at an upscale farmers market in northeast US where white affluent progressives mingle. These progressives have taken on anti-racism work with such moral vigor it’s their new religion. I imagine Reminiscence Guimauve actually smells of a specific European type of dessert or marshmallow I’ve never had. It starts off like toothpaste, with a lot of minty vanilla. Just ignore this phase because you might want to scrub it off. After 15 minutes or so it develops into a delicious and airy aromatic sugar-vanilla scent that’s as if you took Pink Sugar and revamped it into something more aromatic and interesting. It’s a delicious scent. I’m especially impressed with the airy quality of the notes the first 1-2 hours. You do smell them separately as they waft around you. Just barely moderate longevity and low projection. I like it.

I grabbed a full bottle of Reminiscence Guimauve (or Marshmallow in English) on sale, and it has been a beautiful discovery. It opens with a vibrant burst of warm and aromatic spices and bright neroli, lifted by an unexpected, refreshing twist of green mint. As it settles into my skin, a comforting vanilla slowly creeps in, seamlessly blending with a fluffy, decadent marshmallow accord that perfectly captures the fragrance's name. Guimauve shares a distinct DNA with Prada Paradoxe EDP Intense, but it wears like a spicier, greener, and more unconventional cousin. I am absolutely captivated by how gorgeous and unique this scent profile is. My only complaint is its performance; I desperately wish the longevity matched the sheer beauty of the fragrance. Despite the fleeting wear time, it is a stunning gourmand with a green twist and a fantastic addition to my collection.

I grabbed a decant of this back when I was on my marshmallow hunt (I guess I still am, and probably always will be). It's a unique fragrance, but does smell like a better blended, less soapy version of Replica funfair evening. It's such a hard fragrance to describe too. A well blended flora herbal gourmand almond and powdery sweet soapy citrus and smells a bit like baby powder.. that's pretty much all the listed notes above anyway lol. I wouldn't say it's predominantly vanilla in the accords though. Don't be afraid of the black pepper, its super minimal and enough to create airy spice. So it's my most researched fragrance, I almost blind bought this but glad I didn't since I don't reach for my decant often and I get a bit tired of it and it has decent longevity. Oh- you might like this if you like Lancome Trianon.. different frag but same family of scent.

This took me a while to make a decision on my feelings about it, but the more I wear it, the deeper I like and appreciate it. I can definitely understand the correlation between this and LDBS, if you have smelled that and don't like it, you most likely will not be a fan of Guimave. For whatever reason, my nose detects the marshmallow in here as a mix of those multi-colored candy necklaces, jordan almonds and the powdered sugar on those firmer pink style marshmallows. It invites the picture of pastels and light spring colors to mind and reminds me of ballerina's. It's very feminine but not sickly sweet. I think if you like sweet, you can layer with something like Kayali Vanilla 28 and you'd be good to go. I am pretty fascinated with this, but it's NOT a crowd pleaser to my nose. More for me!

Thanks to Xrayer, I have been able to try this one a few times now. And I had to try it a few times to try to get the measure of it. I'm still not quite sure what to make of it. I was expecting marshmallowy sweetness but this is a sweet and yet slightly smoky vanilla fragrance. Warm, subtle, amber heavy and voluptuous, the dry down is creamier than the herbaceous opening but still there's something that grounds this one to make it unlike other more linear oriental vanillas which often tend towards that in your face cupcake sweetness (not a bad thing, just a thing). Perhaps it's the sandalwood. It's nice, whatever it is; not remotely gauche or attention seeking but when you do notice it, Gimauve is warm, sensual and moreish.
