Lady Rem

I bought this perfume mainly because I really like Black Saffron by Byredo, but currently I'm having different priorities as far as expensive perfume purchases goes (I want to spend that much money on some other perfumes). Lady Rem appeared to be a nice, yet cheaper dupe and so far I'm absolutely loving it. :) The opening is kind of sweet and raspberry like, almost mouthwatering, then it proceeds into this ashy, sweet yet quite bitter tobacco scent I really, really like and I can't stop sniffing my wrist. Longevity and sillage appear to be quite potent, too. Black Saffron is a little bit sweeter, but that doesn't matter, the sweet raspberry is in Lady Rem, too, although it's way more timid than in BS. If you like perfumes that are sweetish yet bitter, tobacco and leather like, this may be a good blind buy. But only if you like this kind of scent, because it's really "bold" and strong, too (I do understand why some people may smell ash tray in it). The only thing I don't really like is the cheap looking bottle. :P it looks really cheap, but the juice is way better, trust me.

SOTD If you like TF leather, you will like this one. It adds a floral scent that makes it smell "fresher" than TF to my nose. I kind of get why it is categorized as a female scent; however, it can absolutely be worn by a man. For under $40, it is definitely a good value.

A wonderful leather perfume, very classy and wearable for women and men. Same quality as niche offerings and to be had for a decent price. I got myself a Black Friday bottle 100 ml for 40 Euro postage included, very happy with it.

I heard this one was very smoky, so I avoided it, as many things that smell smoky on me end up smelling kinda sour and "campfire-y". It is true that it's smoky - it's like a tobacco-leather kind of smoky, but it's also very smooth and non-cloying. Kind of a clean smoke, without the coughing and it also smells quite expensive. It smells like something Amouage could have had in its line, similar to Black Iris, but without the carrot-like smell. Totally unisex, despite the raspberry - I would have loved this on a man. My husband smelt this further away and said it smelt feuity and fresh winter air (it smells fresh to him although winter air often contains smoke from people using fireplaces). I think this is a really good representation of the time people used to smoke everywhere and tried to cover up the scent with a nice perfume. Some of those people still smelt disgusting, but some actually ended up smelling really good - this is the smell of those people. BTW: I'm not a smoker myself and have always hated it. It doesn't mean that the smell of tobacco is bad. The bottle design is... not my cup of tea, and doesn't represent this fragrance well at all. I guess I was just a popular choice of style before. Hot Couture from Givenchy is totally in the same lane as this fragrance - I absolutely get the comparison, and it too comes in a style of bottle that isn't at all representing the smell of the fragrance.

This shiii is BOLD. I blind bought it after briefly looking it up here on Fragrantica. I saw on the accords that the sweetness dominates (btw. this needs to be changed here guys) and that there is some raspberry with the heavier tobacco-leather-patchouli combo which seemed very intriguing. For some reason I was convinced the previous reviewers must have been a bit too sensitive to darker fragrances - who puts a pink etiquette on a heavy perfume and calls it Lady REM after all? Boyyyy I was wrong and I apologise to all the people below for underestimating your words. This is the strongest, boldest, most headache-inducing, suffocating fragrance I have ever smelled in my entire life. After the first spray I thought it went bad but no - apparently that is it. Imagine a one tiny ripe raspberry buried under a ton of freshly dried tobacco with a few patchouli leaves put in a particularly fragrant leather suitcase sprinkled with more leather ... IN A ROOM MADE OF LEATHER. This is quite something. It is NOT a safe frag. People will be bothered, relationships will be broken, wars will start if you wear it on regular basis. This is the first scent I think I might seriously struggle to pull off. If anyone has any advice on how or what to layer it with to make it more approachable please share! xoxo

My gosh, what a perfume...Reminiscence is so much more Niche than 80% of the so called Niche perfume brands. They dare creating something like that, so close from Bulgary Black and so give a good punch in the over make up face of the feminity stereotype. No dear ladies, you have no obligation to smell like a candy shop , a cotton candy, an industrial syrup or hyper clean hygienic (no)flower. The contrast between the pale pink of the bottle and the intensity of the leather inside is really a good surprise, I hope a lot of real ladies will give it a chance.

@delyana Thanks for the advice dear, much appreciated! Have you tried to put some scented body lotion on before applying the Rose Jam? Depends on which direction you’d like to take it but either a lotion with something vanilla or sweet rose or even powdery/lactonic. I have managed to get rid of some slight unpleasant notes this way before. Of course that would not work for this monster of a fragrance aka Lady REM haha!

A dark bold fragrance. I can smell leather, tobacco and incense. This perfume is more masculine and for a mature man to my opinion. I love tobacco but I hate incense; and I can really smell a strong incense note, here... Why? No idea! --> So, for me, it is an old man in a church (Glup!). 5/10 not my style

this perfume opens with raspberry and a very strong leather note, followed by tobacco. it mellows into a raspberry-leather with subtle tobacco and patchouli. i think this one is really interesting and i love leather notes, but for the first part, this particular leather is too bitter and strong.

I will say that the descriptions of this perfume are very accurate.so I should have known I'd find it hard to wear . saying all this I'd think this perfume veers more masculine .I've layered it with other sweet perfumes and it was amazing .but il pass not a love it's ok .

For me it’s leather and apricot, not raspberry. If it had just a little sweetness in it, I think I could live it more. The leather is a bit harsh at first. Nice scent, but not enough to buy it full size.

Starts with weird combo of sharp bunrt cigarette tabacco followed by violet & pink lollipop.. I hoped for leather dominancy here, but I can smell only overshadowed leathery note somewhere in distance, and that is bitter carwash deerskin. Soon comes the drydown - an artificial hairdresser salon smell.

I wanted to love it so much, unfortunately it makes me sick. Beautiful bold fruity raspberry opening but then I only get cigarette ashtray. I had to scrub it off...

The opening is fruity and sickly sweet. As it dries down, the sweetness is overshadowed by the confidence of leather, but it's still there. This one has an addictive quality, I had it sprayed on my hand and each time I move my hand close to my face I find myself distracted by the scent. On my skin, it feels like I it's the little sweet sister of the experienced and bitter Lampblack by Bruno Fazzolari. I feel I might have liked it more without the raspberry note. To my nose, this leans more feminine but a man can pull it off, not in a hot weather, please! I might pass on this one since the sweet accord is still there at the drydown. Meanwhile, I will enjoy this vial till the last drop.

I was expecting something far more challenging based on the reviews here. To me, it's a more tobacco raspberry/leather combo, a cousin to heavy-hitters like Byredo Black Saffron or L'Artisan Cuir Grenat. Where those lean into fruit, Lady Rem veers in a floral tobacco direction. There's something of a persistent whisper of gasoline, similar to what some people find running through Dior's Fahrenheit. The mental picture to me: a woman driving an old car with leather seats. If you enjoy Fahrenheit, this smells nothing like that, but you may like what Lady Rem has to say. This is a blind buy I totally regret, this is leather from top notes to the base, like Galop by Hermes, definitely not for me...I had expected a softer scent, I expected rich of course,, and some leather, but this is an overdose of leather /tobacco, and a lot of it...in a linear way...only in the dry down is it maybe wearable, still, not even for me...why create such a masculine scent and call it Lady R.E.M. ?unless the lady in question has no feminity whatsoever. I can see a guy wearing that...going for swap for sure...

@notedecoeur. Layering works well with the quite watery Isparta 26. I have tried combining it with Lush's Rose Jam, but they somehow cancel each other. I am planning to layer it with Bon parfumeur's 401 and/or Reminiscence Mandarine fraiche. Btw, I am still trying to figure out how to make Rose Jam work for me. I like it but then, there is this sour note that drives me crazy. Any advice will be appreciated.

To me this smells exactly like Acqua di Parma Colonia Leather Eau de Cologne Concentrée... which I was totally not expecting. Especially given that the name and bottle etc bares no resemblance at all to the scent. It should be called Samhain or similar and be in a black smokey bottle! Nice scent, just not what I was expecting...

I like it, when I am at home... by myself. I was ill prepared on what I was receiving by the packaging (the Lady Rem name/pink label): definitely mistargeted. All the same - this is a unisex fragrance with moderate projection. The longevity? well- this pretty much lasted my entire life.

Right off the cap, I get that same greenish tobacco-leather tone I get in Cabochard. I was positively surprised spraying it on skin: it still has that vibe but with an added layer of bright raspberry jam. The word that comes to mind with this one is "quirky".
