Noir

I have finally took a plunge and bought it blind. Wow! Just wow! Noir is different and a lot better than what I expected. Very dark and bittersweet to match its name. Noir opens very sweet for a moment, bitter straight away than balsamic floral and settles into dark woody resin. Progression is gradual and ends in dry vanilla, creamy resins and suprise, violet. Before looking up the ingredient list, the first note I've recognised is the bitter aromatic Boswellia. There is a variation on myrtle - eucalyptus is in the same family. I've recognised myrrh that turns out to be opoponax. There are also sharp minty and camphorous notes, clear green and bitter resins, some very dark wood that I cannot recognise and the rest blends into a woody and creamy background with a multitude of faint flowers. I cannot detect any smoke and barely any citrus. During the later stages vanilla and slightly floral labdanum emerges, some conifers and powdery violet and the resins retreat to the background. Noir appears very natural and the list of additives is very short. It is strong, does not get upset by other scents around. I haven't tried any layering. It is easily wearable, I had it on for work today. If you like resins, you need to try Reminiscence Noir, highly recommended. Edit: I have added Halston Amber Man to the list of similar fragrances for the simple reson that the opoponax in Noir is the same to my nose as the myrrh in Halston.

I'm adding this one because a user asked me to elaborate more on my first review :) First of all, I think it's safe to classify it as belonging to a resin-like scent. It has a prominent opoponax top note, but not in a traditional sweet way. It's rather smoky, which I guess came from the incense in the mix. Secondly, there's a quite warm, spicy undertone throughout. In my nose, it smell a bit peppery from the mid notes onward, although I don't think pepper is listed as one of the note. In fleeting moments, it bears passing resemblance to Marc Jacobs' Bang (although I stressed the word "passing"). It certainly not a scent for everyone. In fact, I got it from another collector who decided that he couldn't pull Noir off. Here, it gets subjective. I'm a fan of unusual scents, and will chase after opoponax. So no contest here for me :) It's difficult to state which other perfume this one reminds me of. If forced, I would perhaps mention Charriol Royal Platinum. Yet it's still different. Piece de resistance, if I say so myself...

This beauty starts with the best eucalyptus and citrus note I have ever come across - it's readily recognized and so wonderful once you get past the initial shock of its potency. My skin plays up the gorgeous resins right from the start creating a smokey, sharp, syrupy eucalyptus and labdanum mix that is intoxicating. This fume is another secret sniffer (where you try to secretly sniff in public) that brings a smile all day long. Fantastic for grey days and rainy days, but the incense shines a little brighter in the heat so it is moderately adaptive to temperature. The scent does morph into a delicious, slightly animalic musk many hours into its life - and it is just another side of a beautiful fume. Warm and resinous, smells like a fusion of everything south asian, Indian and oriental: fragrant oils, sandalwood, spice and a ton of incense. I believe frankincense is the most prominent out of all the resins in this juice. You can imagine unopened box of really high quality incense sticks to get the general idea of what it smells like. First few minutes totally remind of eucalyptus candy, but that fades quickly. I can also add, it's so well composed, you can't notice any trace of synthetic components, even though it contains them. Lasts the whole day easily. I will certainly wear it during the winter to warm the soul. Also, even though Fragrantica says it's for men, a woman can wear it with no problem. Grab this amazing fragrance while you can, it's discontinued.

it was like light at the end of the tunnel!!! a great combo of eucalyptus and incense (mastyx, frankincense olibanum elemi)... the opening seems to be a little bit harsh (eucalyptus+citrus) with a slight oldschool undertone but its only a starter for a main player here- a beautifuly exposed INCESE (my favourite note!!!) ... and after a few hours i get a very soft woodsy/patchouli vibe (but incense is still there)... I guess they are using a lot of natural ingredients here... this liquid is a little bit sticky on my skin... i've made some incense/resinous home-made perfume and they were all very sticky, i works great on my skin in summer and in the colder weather, day and night... i can't stop sniffing my wrist.

There is something magic in "Noir". "Noir" (black) doesn't emphasize the dark side of our personality: it's only a fragrance that expresses a quiet strength. it starts with a sharp bergamot and eucalyptus, but the fragrance becomes smoother with patchouli, sandalwood, incense and opoponax. It's no use buying a viril fragrance to be a man : Noir is warm (but never stifling) and creates a kind of sensual "aura" around you...masculine without testosterone! Bravo.

Start: 50% Eucalyptus & 50% Incense Mid: 25% Eucalyptus & 75% Incense End: 2% Eucalyptus & 98% Incense While I don ́t think that this perfume contain any natural ingredient, I may be wrong. Noir opens very strong and settles down after a while. Female noses may be irritated by the strong smell. There ́s absolutely nothing dark about this scent. But Noir is for men, for those who love incense. Get it if you can, it`s discontinued.

sad to hear you don't like it. It is not for everyone. This is a really love or hate scent for sure. this is like musc ravageur in the dry down, niche quality. 9/10 for sure. only for the refined noses it's very balmy, not versitale. winter/nighttime (cold weather)

Wow first spray i was shocked. Didn't like it. Very domanation from the opoponax note. But than the dry down. Rich, crafting, unique, now i'm in love with this. It's so different. pure love. I'll buy this over and over again. It's beautiful.

Incense and herbs. Pure eastern mystique. Leaves quite an impression. Embodies the word "mystery", leaves more questions than answers. Does that in a tantalizing way. One of my all-time favorites.

A different incensy scent.very good...at the first impact...different maybe for the eucaliptus?i tried on paper and more time passed...more the scent became noir...and incensy...

This Reminiscence is lovely, very unique; nothing I have smells like this. With the cool weather, I can have this again.

Love it. Finally something that lasts through the day. Warm and very high quality.

Strange how sandalwood isn't directly listed in the notes, only "woody notes". In the description, "wood from Marakesh, sandalwood." I'm so reminded of Tam Dao with this. An incense version with a bit less cypress/cedar. The eucalyptus helps in the similarity I think, as well as the elemi resin, galbanum, and opoponax reflecting an amber like feeling. They both share musk and rose too. But wow... remarkable how nobody else has mentioned this. Maybe I'm one of the first few to have both Noir and Tam Dao? The blending of Noir is wonderful, complex while very approachable and not challenging. The flacon looks a bit feminine at first, but after giving it a good look over it can compliment either gender. It is totally clear (not white, as may be suggested by the photo). It's not a stiff rectangular shape, having this slanted front panel that gives a deja-vu of a "Lubin" flacon. Metal shell covered plastic cap, having matte and polished areas (nothing white). Looks nice! I'm really enjoying this... but Tam Dao won out. Oh well. Maybe I'll revisit it again sometime in the future. :-)

This opens with a great, dusty dry incense/pencil note without any sweetness at all - kinda like Gucci PH or a cleaner blast of Balmain Carbone with incense and peppery coriander. The sweetness then comes slowly creeping from the opoponax disguised as a resinous vanilla wrapped in amber. I do get a hint of the menthol/eucalyptus note every now and then through the opening, but it seems quite subdued to me. This combination of "opposing" notes makes it very unique to me - it's a very rich and modern scent with good projection and longevity. I'm not sure I get the gender determination on this one : on top of this page it says "for men", but in the text below it says "RN is a fragrance for women" ?" IMO it's for everyone who enjoys a dry incense...

I've (kind of) blind bought Reminiscence Noir, after asking opinions from other reputable members here and it took me at least 2-3 full wearings to actually love it. It's an unusual scent, a very smooth combination of fresh and oriental notes: moist-resinous eucalyptus with a fresh bergamot welcome you in top notes, followed by a smoky unsweeten balsamic incense middle stage, very realistic (reminds me of our orthodox churches in a Sunday). Base notes are coming their way much further (6-8 hrs), with sweet flowers, amber and a faint vanilla, all surrounded by the dry incense vale. A good quality not-so-known scent and a valuable addition to my collection. My personal rank 8.8/10 ☣☣☣☣. Recommended.

At first it is very powerful, be careful to spray (max 3-4 last long) .. eucalyptus initial predominates ... in the heart notes feel very cedar and woody notes ... then, after a while enters the 'incense that is imposed. A perfume unique, very strong suitable for winter days in my opinion. Sillage: 9/10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Scent: 7.5/10 Overall: 7/10
