Vanille

As a devoted lover of vanilla since long time, I’d been searching high and low for a vanilla signature for years.. not necessarily aiming to find the perfect or breathtaking one (which I hopefully may come across in one day), and certainly unable to test every single Niche offering in this immense field after trying/owning about everything in the mainstream category centered on that note, all I craved for was a not ordinary but neither bizarre or overly complicated, maybe a bit complex, overly feminine, refined but not in a pretentious way, and most of all beautifully done fragrance where my beloved vanilla was the main character. Vanille by Reminiscence fits my expectations, totally. For once I feel a scent is really close to my personality as it’s someway reserved, overly sensitive and uncompromising at first encounter and only after a while it reveals itself as warm-hearted, friendly and caring although sometimes capricious and moody... its soothing, innocent but also intense attitude suggests there’s a little world of unexpressed emotions and hidden feelings which only few people will unlock. This may be the ideal fragrance for a Cancerian, if you ask me :) Perfume-wise, Vanille’s olfactory structure is at once easy and unpredictable: I perceive an effortlessly sinuous transition through different textures where vanilla, from nonexistent in the first stage, gets more and more pronounced and gradually shows its multi-faceted features and moods while complimenting perfectly the other notes, enhancing them with its well-known qualities (vanilla is generally perceived as sweet, warm, comforting) while retaining kind of an inexplicable, innate uniqueness. An unusual accord of bergamot (not very perceivable) and juicy osmanthus provides an immediate sense of bright and relaxed exoticness, reminding me of a sunset watched through white silk curtains.. soon, at least to my nose, follows the austere benzoin, with its almost medicinal-oily balminess that’s smoothened and rounded by the velvety almond nuance of heliotrope and an extremely natural vanilla in the heart: here’s the exact smell of vanilla bean as spice, i.e. almost devoid of sugary aspects. Just the right amount of praline is added, creating a refined cloud of yumminess around the wearer that seems to replicate the actual smell of a fine milk chocolate rather than its taste. From there on, it’s all about powdery vanilla with a hint of leather... a soft but persistent trail of resinous benzoin accompanies the wearer through the last hours of this EDT, that’s very long lasting on me (it stayed with me an entire evening and night, and in the morning my hair and neck were still deliciously fragrant: I would say it lasts on me not less than 10 hours). What else to say? I adore Vanille, each time I grab my little bottle with the printed silvery stars I feel like a child, and when I put it on my skin I feel cuddled, emotional, elegant, surrounded by warmth... let’s be grateful for little pleasures of life. (To anyone looking for a good quality but also affordable, non pretentious or extravagant vanilla fragrance: please don't overlook this one, you may love it too)

Reminiscence Vanille is what some have called the 'poor man's' Cuir Beluga and stated that it has less sophistication and less complexity. In some ways, this may be true. In others, this is an understated good friend of Cuir Beluga's that depends on less to be appreciated. Cuir Beluga relies on everlasting strength that it just can't deliver. After several hours, it becomes a faint skin scent. This is probably a not so common occurrence, but I'm reporting based on my experience. Reminiscence Vanille has a soft projection, but will be noticed by others for up to 18 hours. Longevity means next to nothing, but this has to be talked about. $370 for a fragrance that lasts just past 12pm after spraying it at 8.30am is inexcusable. Reminiscence Vanille has a bourbon vanilla base, as the name would suggest, that pushes this fragrance on and on and on. Tonka and praline provide this with a distinctly more edible aroma than the one in Cuir Beluga that really just smells of super creamy suede and curry. Reminiscence forgoes the fresh orange citrus and aldehydes, opting instead to use bergamot and osmanthus (which is quickly becoming a favourite). Osmanthus, I'm coming to realise, can take on many different scents depending on what it's paired with - it's a chameleon. In this, it takes on the sweeter scent that it is more well known for. The dry down of the scent includes resins & musks. It is a much boozier and floral version of Cuir Beluga, which seems to have given it more dimension than the acclaimed Guerlain scent. The heliotrope in this is beyond beautiful, as it is in Cuir Beluga. Go for this if you want something that may be a little more floral than vanilla, but still highly sophisticated and elegant. Well, as elegant as a gourmand-ish scent can be, anyway.

I received a partial bottle of this in a swap, and what a treasure! I've since bought a full backup bottle. This is a true beauty - mainly vanilla - but so many intricate layers. It opens with vanilla and a hint of citrus and as it dries down, a whole bouquet of intriguing floral notes appear. The one that captured my attention and made me swoon is heliotrope. I've never experienced such a lovely fresh heliotrope note in anything else. Fresh and slightly powdery and oh so feminine. It has a bit of a vintage feel, but still a very modern scent. Soft white florals, a hint of musk and patch - all work so well together to create a scent so far beyond just "vanilla". But it has to be said that the vanilla is glorious. Not sticky or overly sweet, but oh so delicious. Great projection, lasts for hours and can be worn year round in my opinion. This one is on high rotation for me. Intricate, but beautifully blended and balanced. This fragrance is responsible for my new love of heliotrope and I've been busy seeking out others. Reminiscence makes incredibly beautiful quality fragrances, and the cost is within reach for most. It's a love for me!

This is by far the most beautiful, amazing, mesmerizing vanilla perfume I have ever smelled! As the previous reviewer mentions, it's so special; it's difficult to describe. The bottle and its stars fit the personality and body of it perfectly, as it is simply creamy and dreamy. Take a whiff and you will be wafting through the stars on a chilly Parisian evening, floating amongst the clouds. It's sweet but not really gourmand and certainly not sugary. It's the adult vanilla that reminds us to be playful, that dares us to take a chance. I imagine myself walking along Blvd Haussman in Paris when I wear this or taking a stroll along the Seine. It is amazingly soft and gentle, in fact there is something childlike (yet grown-up) about it. If a perfume can tell a story, this one is a novella. It's truly like no other. If you were aching for Le Labo's Vanille 44 or wishing for a Lutens Bell Jar to cure your rainy day blues, you only need look as far as this perfume. It's every bit as amazing as those masterpieces, yet within your reach. Perhaps that's what makes it so incredible.

It's very soft, not just a gourmand, it's more powdery, the hliotrope note is really there, and the different Vanilla facets used here give different notes, from rich and creamy, to fruity, to the suede note you get from the Ouganda Vanilla; I don't get much of the floral notes, and better so! The only ones I get are Heliotrope, adna bit of osmanthus maybe at the very beggining, with its creamy dense softness. Frankly, a really nice fragrance, worth some "niche" ones, like I previously said, Cuir Beluga, in sucha reasonable price, sillage is quite good, but it stays quite close to skin, it's soft, it lingers around, wraps you in a sort of powdery creamy cloud... perfect of winter clothes, furs,velvet, cashmere, I love it on my scarf and gloves,and also when I wear suede or leather, then i just add a drop of Daim Blond here and there, they mix together perfectly! It adds some more to the suede note but still being much powdery soft. Really love it, this is going to last in my top 5 for good!

this is cloudy soft, powdery vanilla, with a very mellow undertone of soft delicate suede note... just like Guerlain's Cuir Beluga, just a bit lighter, which is even better, the first being really a bit "fat" and heavy. The Reminiscence one, is just as soft and elegant, perfect for winter cold days; it makes me think that it could have been perfect in times begone when ladies wore furs, and used to perfume them with powdery notes, as their make up jadis... the Heliotrope note is really there, but it still remains a vanilla, it's not an almond-based frag' like Etra by Etro or Louve by SL. It's really a very nice, soft vanilla, a great surprise for me by this brand xhixk I never felt too attractive, maybe because of their best seller "Patchouly" solinote... the one thing I really cn't stand! So give this one a try, for such a reasonable price, you have the very exact copy of CB by Guerlain ;-) and even connaisseurs are bluffed! ;)

This is a beautiful and mature vanilla fragrance, no "girly" vibes at all and it's also a non gourmand-definetly unisex. It has a fleeting and "airy" feeling to it, a tiny bit of leather keeps it interesting and elegant. Some say it is a dark vanilla, I would say it's quite close to the raw vanilla bean - but it has more interesting layers to it, than a single, raw vanilla bean. I guess the layers are the various types of vanilla used in the blend, that gives the fragrance more facets and depth. I haven't tried Cuir Beluga (as many refers to here) but I have tried many high end/niche fragrances for many years, and this little gem has a quality that could be in the same league like niches/high end fragrances. 5/5

This was a blind buy for me but I have had a decant of Guerlain CB so was expecting a similar scent. Well....I wasn't expecting it to be quite so similar - in actual fact I think I would have a difficult time picking them apart! This is absolutely lovely, a smooth not-too-sweet vanilla and I just can't believe the quality, I think it's probably longer lasting than CB too which is a bonus. Sprayed two sprays this morning and got two compliments while out, unheard of for me. I don't really like overly sweet gourmand vanilla's but this is just perfect. This is an under-rated gem. Edit: can't wait to try your layering recipe with L'Heure Bleue Sheppards Wife!

contrariamente a tutte le vaniglie sin qui provate, questa volta mi trovo a sniffare una vaniglia matura, quasi astratta, poco o niente gourmand. la nota di vaniglia, qui bourbon più che mai, è centrale ma non invasiva, sicchè non copre ma si fa piuttosto sorreggere da sentori floreali (tanto da farne quasi un profumo esotico) come il gelsomino e l'eliotropio, e aromatici/resinosi. l'effetto complessivo è di una vaniglia discreta e sofisticata, molto morbida, indossabile anche con caldo, benchè non dia la sensazione di trovarsi in pasticceria tantomeno in spiaggia (ricoperti da dolcissime creme solari). ottima esprienza!

Reminiscence Vanille is one of only two bottles in my collection, both discontinued, that made me track down a backup bottle. This is how angels smell. Powdery vanilla and softest suede, faint almondy heliotrope, gentle sweetness that never remotely becomes cloying. Perfectly elegant, composed, understated. Airy and simply divine. Stunning. I want to wear it much more than I do but I'm scared to use it up, as it's now impossible to find. My only consolation if that day comes is that it is so similar to Cuir Beluga I'd still be able to sniff its doppelganger at a Guerlain counter. Perfection.

yes! It's really kigh a less cloying version of Cuir Beluga! it's right the same, just a bit lighter, not so "thick"... slimmer! You get the very same "suede" powdery effect from heliotrope, and vanilla is light, not sticky; if you can, try to compare them an the same time, like I did once, on my left glove i put CB and on the right one Reminiscence; well, after 5 min you could barelly make any difference. Well, yes, actually there is a huge difference after all ... some $$$ ... here CB is 180e/75 ml ... Reminiscence is 50e /50ml and 75e/100 ml! so... give it a try! ;)

Simply beautiful! A vanilla with sophisticated layers and a bucketload of personality. In no way cheap or synthetic smelling. Up there with the finest most expensive vanillas around. Ive tried many vanillas and this is fast becoming a fave. Ps it's not JUST vanilla though, it has smoky and fruit/floral nuances. Gorgeous but if you're after straight up vanilla, perhaps not what you're looking for.

Gorgeous dark, floral and resinous vanilla scent. I was fortunate to find a full bottle for a reasonable price, but I keep looking to get another bottle, with no success! masterpieces like this should never go away! I love it. It is everything I want in a vanilla scent, it is sweet, it feels edible but floral and resinous at the same time. It lasts and projects well. What a gorgeous scent!

This is my favorite vanilla gourmand. Ohmygawd. It is just pure deliciousness. Sweet and creamy yet the supporting notes give it a sophisticated feel. And it does not get powdery at the dry down, it actually gets better and more sensual with some muskiness. You would think it would be heavy but it really isn't, it's soft and elegant.

How to talk about this? This is not really a perfume, this is a light wind, late at night on the flowering vanilla plants. Moving, undulating. The petals sight their mysterious lightness, I guess their soul more then I smell their scent, The caress is elusive translucent and yes, superb.

i had to try this after comparisons to cuir beluga, which has become one of my favorite scents. it's a lovely heliotrope-vanilla with some powderiness and a bit of praline. so gorgeous, warm and enveloping and i am thrilled that this vanilla isn't too overly sweet or loud.

I thought I would love this, but my nose picks up a very unpleasant note among all the niceness that is this perfume. It's a bitter, green note, probably cassis/blackcurrant leaf or something like that. Maybe I'm just crazy, but it ruins it for me.

In Italy available only at Sephora! Got the 100ml due to a special discount in local shop and i'm so so so so happy :) This is the first fragrance that match exactly my expectations: sweet,soft, not offensive and lasts for days on the clothes!

yes this really really is very close to Cuir Beluga, in a less expensive option, not bad at all; the heliotrope almondy notes are noticeable, and the vanilla here is so soft, cloudy, not sticky or candy like at all, very nice!

Cna't you find it at Sephora's? Don't they sell it also in Australia?

I'm mainly going to comment on the smell of this perfume, since I only got a 1mL sample of this and dabbed some on my wrist 15 minutes ago... I don't understand how vanilla is perceived as the main note/accord here. I'm not even sure if 'vanille' should be in the name of the fragrance. I do believe that 'reminiscence' is a good name, though. On my skin, this smells quite soft and more like a powdery floral with just a hint of vanilla. It's very much like an expensive baby powder. The impression I get from the scent is a demure but well-dressed lady, reading a book to a small child as night approaches. I'm not sure why, but I also get impressions of Victorian England and doll head. This perfume is very comforting, and not exotic or sexy by any means. You could wear this all day and not feel bothered by it or have anyone around you be bothered by it. Notes: I can smell Jasmine and white musk, and a vague vanilla and chocolatey (praline?) scent. Patchouli haters: you cannot smell any patchouli at all, and this is coming from someone on whom any patchouli sticks out like a sore thumb. Sillage: Very soft. I can't accurately comment on longevity yet, but it already has faded somewhat from my skin. Overall verdict: Nothing more or less than 'like'. At this stage, I'm not interested in buying a full bottle.

The "Main notes according to your votes" pyramid on Fragrantica's page for a perfume can sometimes be misleading, since scents are so subjective and even a single person's experience can vary a lot depending on weather, mood and other circumstances. But in this case, I think the collected wisdom of all voters got it just right (or at least in accordance with my own impression): the bourbon vanilla is definitely the star of the show here, and from start to finish it's about twice as prominent as any other note, but it doesn't totally dominate the scent - there's too much else going on for that. The gourmand notes are complemented very nicely by the floral notes, and the sweetness is balanced out by the murkier notes in the base, especially the patchouli. All this complexity makes it an interesting, versatile kind of vanilla - rich enough to tempt a gourmand lover, but not so edible as to overwhelm those who are not. Very nice!

Well this cheapie is a real surprise. I read all the comments and figured it was a safe blind buy. On immediate spraying I was reminded instantly of Gucci Rush, the unusual lactonic burst. On smelling my old bottle though the resemblance is only in the first 10 minutes. For a supposed edt this is so powerful, lasts ages making it even better value for money. it is definitely a cosy Vanilla, cannot compare to Cuir beluga as I don't have it but to me it is heady and thick but not cloying, occasionally when I smell my wrist I get a bit of Orchidee vanille but this is fleeting, I don't really get the heliotrope like I do in their Gourmand vanilla line which I adore, this is not at all girly, totally unisex for cosy autumnal and winter nights by the fire with pj's and a glass of warmed armagnac and a good book, hold the warmed glass to your wrist and smell delicious.

Similar to Lea St. Barth on my skin, although a bit lighter. This is okay, I do get a lot of vanilla here and some balmy. I don't know, I'm not finding this to agree with my chemistry. It's not sweet at all on me. It's just more vanilla and balmy with a tad of spiciness. I'm not a fan of Lea St. Barth nor this. Try before you buy if you can, although near impossible with this one, since it's only available in France. I do find I can detect it on me every move I make and it lasts quite long, for hours. Close to the skin fragrance. I doubt this will reel any lover in closer. I wouldn't even describe this as gourmand on me. The way the notes line up I thought this would be a real hit on me. Sadly not at all.

This is not just a vanilla scent. It's one of those grown up vanillas. Upon first spray I got something almost watery, but within 5 minutes it dissipated and settled into a very powdery and almost dusty sort of vanilla, in a good way. The vanilla is sweet and subdued, very quiet. It's a tiny bit floral and has lots of powder. I like it though! On me it settles down to an almost elegant sort of vanilla, with the powder creating a soft veil. Not totally gourmand, yet still very pretty and comforting. Soft sillage, pretty much a skin scent, and lasting power is about 4-5 hours. It's nice! It makes me curious to try Cuir Beluga.

I'm not a great fan of gourmand scents, so I approached Vanille with caution. But it was a nice surprise, because Vanille Reminiscence is not sweet, it is more resinous and creamy. It’s linear and its intensity increases with time, but it is not invasive at all. I love the heliotrope in it, I think that's what makes VR very pleasant even for a "non gourmand lover." And it's soft and gentle and emphasizes in the person who wears it the same characteristics – sweetness and kindness. It’s very feminine!

Despite the name Vanille is not a real gourmand scent, it's not too sweet, a little powdery. It opens up with a strong synthetic scent that I dislike. After 30 minutes you only get a soft vanilla scent, very simple like the other Reminiscence perfumes I have tested. Maybe it's better on clothes than on skin.

I think that Dandyman describes this best when he says it's STUNNING and BEYOND BEAUTIFUL. It's certaimly the best Vanilla perfume That I have ever tried, ( The older formula of course, the one with the stars on the box) but I suppose it's very rare now, even to find one on Ebay.

Very very powdery vanilla. Lots of heliotrope and lots of musk. I don't get the balsamic accords but the florals are certainly present. It's nice, sweet and I like it, but for me it's not a love or FB bottle worthy. Happy with my decant though.

This is a lovely vanilla with praline and helitrope base. A must-try for gourmand lovers. Really soft sweet not offensive. Much better than many expensive vanilla perfumes out there. Well done Reminiscence!

Unsurprisingly, this one smells like vanilla... sweet, gourmand, balmy, but rather flat and unsophisticated... For me, it's too simple to wear as is - perhaps can be used for layering with another frag.

Cockiesweet toffee vanilla with a hint of musk. Very skinclose - a come and hug-me-scent. kaksöt toffee vanilj med en aning av musk. väldigt hudnära - en kom-o-krama-mig-doft.

I have a love-hate relationship with this one because I truly love the vanilla - it's almost the pure scent of it, very natural. It's not too sweet (at least on my skin, or maybe I've been sensible enough not to exaggerate with it) and it's comfortable. However, there's something that bothers me a lot, and I'll try to explain in the best way possible because my senses get messed up: I feel this dark green accord on it, bit earthy and wet. Along with it, I get this medicine-like/cough syrup smell, too sharp for my taste and doesn't go away as easily. At all times vanilla is balancing these two, but they're very present in the background. It's definitely a fragrance for cold weathers. I'm going to keep it and try to wear this, but I truly wish this base notes weren't so evident on my skin.

That’s a strange vanilla. I like it, but it also has something minty and powdery (like a toothpowder). I believe it’s heliotrope that gives note. So for me it smells more of body care of some cosmetic product rather than actual perfume. It’s also a little salty and balsamic in the base. So super strange. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

A thick, warm, vanilla scent with a benzoin base, and a very very sweet progression, which is too much for me, and not quite my style. The synthetic vanilla note(s) don’t gel with me. For colder months, if you find this Reminiscence perfume works on your skin.

Reminiscence perfumes don't sell in my country so I never had the chance of trying them.I have also never tested guerlain cuir beluga.but as a devoted vanilla lover when I heard that a swap buddy has an unsealed 100mil bottle of vanille reminiscence and wants to sell it,I knew that I need to have it.so I immediately paid the 75$ he asked and waited eagerly to receive it in mail.I had a lot of expectations and hope.I was almost sure that I'm going to love it head to toe.I love heliotrope as much as vanilla.tonka,benzoin,musk and praline are also favorites.a vanilla scent with right douses of floral,powdery,gourmand and balsamic undertones could be my HG. I was so surprised and disappointed to find out I don't love it.now that I came over my first hours of disappointment,I can see that it's actually a good fragrance and it delivers all it has promised but it lacks something I needed to love it Vanilla is the main actor.it's there from the very first minute until the last and other notes never cover it.I detect tonka and heliotrope as next prominent notes.but I wished heliotrope and other florals to be stronger.I can detect a touch of tamed patchouli and what other reviews refer to as suede.yes,it's there and I can also smell something like labdanum(which I hate,but fortunately it's faint here). There's no praline to my nose.it's not really gourmand and I won't even call it sweet.yes,there's the typical vanilla sweetness but that's it.I was looking forward to a chocolate-like caramelized buttery sweetness.I could love it if there was more florals,some delicious notes,more balmy benzoin,more femininity.as it is,I find it totally unisex all in all I like how it smells on me but that's because I love vanilla.I can see it's not a vanilla solinote.even though it has a soft balsamic vibe and a softer floral vibe,I find it very simple.Maybe because it's more than 80% vanilla. Longevity is be good but sillage seems to be soft to moderate.I'm not sure people can smell it on me in outdoor.I haven't received a comment on it yet.I asked my husband's idea and he said:is it a new perfume?don't you already have perfumes smelling similar? I have marked like button.I can easily use it,specially for layering and I like it's soft and cozy scent(I also like it's bottle)but if I go back in time,I'm sure that I won't buy it

100% agree with HappyMe2009's review (who is now the owner of my old Reminiscence Vanilla bottle!) She is completely dead on.. Given the notes in this scent as well as the reviews, I was expecting a fairly simple and straightforward gourmand vanilla bean scent with heliotrope. That is not what I received. There was a very odd, spicy plastic element to this which smelled vaguely like vanilla, but not. The scent overall is very powdery and completely ruined by the dominating, unnatural plastic note that came out on my skin. This is not a sweet scent to my nose-- at all-- it is smokey and spicy.. the spiciness makes me kind of nauseous actually :( A very strange and unconventional scent. I am not familiar with Cuir Beluga so I can't compare this with that one, but I can say that this is definitely *not* a gourmand scent in the traditional sense.. and if you buy it thinking will be getting a sweet vanilla scent, you will probably be disappointed (as I was.) Not a fan of this extremely weird, non-sweet scent.

I now have RV after my very first swap. I was interested in this frag because I love Cuir Beluga. Like so many of the Guerlains I adore, CB is out of my price range. RV is a fantastic substitute. It may start off a little thin but given time it mellows into something completely wonderful. If I didn't know better, I would think it was CB. The icing on this vanilla cake is to top spray with a little of Guerlains L'Heure Bleue odt. Absolute heaven.

It's a blast of vanilla frosting. Not for me, however it does have great silage.

Vanilla in perfumes has many guises: it can be dark and smoky, like the pod itself; it can be balsamic and boozy as showcased in Spiritueuse Double Vanille; and it can be the sweet, rich nectar that is vanilla extract. The vanilla in Réminiscence's Vanille is the latter, and it's truly a thing of beauty. I love sombre and cerebral vanillas such as Un Bois Vanille, too, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes there is a call for an unashamedly lush and puddingy vanilla, and this hits the spot like nothing else. Vanille opens with a sugary, tangy osmanthus laid over a caramel-and-vanilla base, and then gradually the slight fruitiness fades and the vanilla takes over, with a heliotropic powderiness (the classic doll-head / Play-Doh accord) gradually becoming more noticeable though never very pronounced. The apricot note of the osmanthus lends a touch of perfumed sweet fruitiness, but it serves primarily to balance and enhance the vanillic syrupiness rather than playing a leading role. This fragrance calls to mind an apricot sponge pudding completely smothered in rich, creamy, homemade vanilla custard – in other words, the apricot is there, but it's not the main point. It doesn't have the same level of sophistication as crème brûlée, but Vanille is a comfort scent par excellence and when people talk about their ultimate vanilla fragrance this is what comes to mind for me. Admittedly it's one of the sweetest gourmands out there, but the sweetness is tempered by the jammy sharpness of the osmanthus, so if you are looking for your HG vanilla do try this: it really is the vanilla to end all vanillas. As a bonus, the tenacity is excellent but the sillage is moderate, so one can indulge at length in this addictive, toothsome fragrance without inflicting it on those with more, ahem, urbane tastes. I'm very glad I bought this – it was a bit of a gamble, based on a quick sniff in the shop, but it's paid off marvellously.

I am a vanilla lover. Usually I prefer simple vanillas, without much else into the composition. Bois1920 La Vaniglia and Vanille Bourbon are examples of what I consider a perfect vanilla concoction. I wanted this one based on the fact that I own Tonka from Reminiscence and I adore it.... that has more vanilla than this one! Given the notes and the reviews, I was expecting a gourmand, sweet, purely scraped vanilla bean here... not such luck. I never smelled the Cuir Beluga, so I cannot comment on that... but this is not what I expected. It's a rather strange vanilla. It's soft, not much silage at all, but long lasting as a skin scent. It is not gourmand by any means. It isn't even sweet. According to my nose, it's powdery, a little smoky, a little woody, and very dusty. I can't say it smells natural, and yes, I have plenty of vanilla beans in my pantry, I know what they smell like. It will probably sound unfair if I say this, but it is almost like the perfumerer avoided the moist seedy inside of the bean, which is the most flavorful, and only used the bark outside of the bean. Very bizarre choice. I am not saying this as a negative point though . I am just giving you heads up, in case you get it and hope it will smell like you rolled yourself up in freshly cut beans ( which is what I would have liked ). You won't get that effect. In conclusion, it is a soft, pleasant, dusty vanilla bark, lacking the sticky delicious mess from inside the bean. A non gourmand skin scent, that goes very nicely for day time, innofensive and possibly sexy, as it sort of melts inside the skin and doesn't smell like perfume at all. For now I intend to keep and enjoy my bottle, simply because it's rather unique and I never had this kind of vanilla before.

First If you Haven't smelled cuir beluga before then here is a Brief description of Vanille Reminiscence: Opens up strong and loud with powerful smell of Oily Vanilla , Then it calms down to a really pleasant smell of vanilla with very unique combination to florals,and hint of smooth comforting suede like smell. "in the designer game" Vanille Reminiscence is really unique, it is really a bottle worthy if you are a big designer head,because no much designer fragrances these days come with this high quality and concentration.on the other hand Vanille Reminiscence resembles "Cuir Beluga" which is one of the best fragrances of all time IMHO. longevity: count by your fingers and your toes its will never end , LOL!! projection: Great!!. you will be noticed for sure Compared to Cuir Beluga ,Vanille Reminiscence: 1.Smells Much oily at the first 30 min While cuir beluga smells smooth from the first blast. 2.in the dry down you will REALLY REALLY smell how close Vanille Reminiscence to Cuir beluga. Of course there are some slight differences between them especially for experienced noses out there,But if money is an issue I strongly Believe that those differences can be some how negligible. Hold on your Calculator and make your decision Vanille Reminiscence you are looking around 100$ price range/100 ml Cuir beluga is about 290$ / 75 ml if not more due to the changes in the prices of Guerlain fragrances annually. It is Your Money , It is your choice !!.

Happily, I got this in a trade. I had never heard of it, and it was one of those rare trades in which my swapping partner gave me only one option. This perhaps artificially paved the way for seeing singular specialness in it, but alas! Once I got my nose on it, I found it to be a real gem. The juice is dark and the bottle has little stars on it — I think it is an older formulation. Vanille is rich like vanilla extract, but with a creamy, floral smoothness that steers it out of boozy-gourmand territory. It’s a frothy, pillowy, cozy vanilla fragrance but with sturdy bones. A phantom dusting of cocoa powder comes and goes, yet somehow still without evoking sickly-sweet gourmand concoctions (after all, vanilla extract and cocoa powder are far more bitter than sweet!). Uncomplicated, yet sophisticated. Vanilla as a note can easily be flat and lotiony or thick as paste (with a synthetic edge to boot), but the vanilla here is vibrant and solar, like fossilized amber with sunlight shining through. There is a musky patchouli deep into the drydown (my least favorite phase), but mostly you’re going to get several hours of rich, realistic, mildly creamy vanilla with a timid sillage. It even kept its composure on an unseasonably hot day — in my experience a rare feat for benzoin!

This is a review for Vanille edt in the original bottle design with sparkly stars and rich golden brown liquid. (Stunning design, by the way, why did they change it?) This was a blind buy. I ordered it hoping for a straight up, simple, but good quality vanilla fragrance. I've been craving gourmand fragrances lately, vanilla in particular. At first spray it became obvious this is NOT a simple vanilla. In fact, it's patchouli and benzoin heavy fragrance sweetened by vanilla. The overall vibe is spicy/warm/sweet amber/resin/patchouli fragrance that reminds me a lot of Amber by L'occitane. Very cozy and inviting. Tempered very lightly with floral notes. Now, patchouli and amber are among my favourite notes so I certainly don't regret this purchase. But this is not straight up vanilla, and can be described as autumnal and earthy, so I can imagine it won't be everyone's cup of tea. The simple one-note name is a bit misleading. The vanilla note smells very natural, as mentioned by previous reviewer. It definitely brings to mind cutting into a vanilla pod. So overall this is rich, warm, spicy, sweet, delicious and not so simple. Best worn in autumn and winter. Thumbs up (with gloves on)!

-Opens with a cloyingly-sweet blast of vanilla, reminiscent of Serge Lutens- Un bois vanille. -The cloying factor dissipates within a minute. -Said to have more complexity than the average straight-up vanilla fragrance. -Dries down to a delicious smoky scent on a tester strip. (a toned-down, less masculine version of Maison Margiela- By the Fireplace) -Longevity: Low-Medium. Lasts 4 hours as a skin scent. -Projection: Low. I can barely smell it on my skin 10mins after first spritzing it on. -(Could i have grown anosmic to this?) *Update* -First wearing: Used 4-5 sprays and found it cloying. -Second wearing: Used 8 sprays..and yet i can't smell it unless my nose is 3cm away from my wrist. -Overall: This is a pretty, rich scent that oozes class. It trumps your typical juvenile, single-note vanilla fragrance. -Verdict: While this is a strong like, I wouldn't purchase a full bottle. -I simply prefer being able to smell what I'm wearing. -Not fbw, unless you live in a perpetually-cold climate like Siberia. I received today a nice sample of this wonderful scent : what a discovey, this is not just plain sweet vanilla. Not at all, it is the refined Vanilla perfume for people who normally would dislike it... Sounds contradictory but it is more a soft, creamy floral ( i smell definitively the jasmin and heliotrope) "coated" with vanilla :-) it is not a typical "gourmand" scent, i could imagine to wear this also during my work because it is such a refined, soft vanilla scent. The Vanilla is not screaming all the attention, it provides structure and harmony to the bergamot, osmanthus and the jasmin/heliotrope and the additition of benzoin and tonka creates that sensual suede dry down. Mmm, really a "dreamy" perfume, not the loud exotic vanilla bird... This is really a different kind of beauty and hence i decided on the spot to buy a FB, i was just mesmerized. I think i need to test their "Tonka" and "Ambre" as well !!

Oooohhh, this is goooooood!! This was a blind buy, based on the reviews and the fact that it has so many of the notes that I love in my perfumes, and also that I was able to pick it up at a great price. It’s a winner. When it first goes on, straight up I get the vanilla (no big surprise there, given the name!), but with a faint boozy note. The boozy note disappears once it dries down, and then it’s just a beautiful, warm, soft cloud of creamy vanilla and musk. I think it was brilliant to include bergamot in this – it’s just the right amount, which gives it a faint tang and stops this from being too sweet. I also get faint whiffs of smoke and leather, which stops it from being girly-girl and instead kicks it into more “grown-up”, sophisticated territory. And even though there’s no chocolate in this, I keep getting faint wafts of it – yum!

I own the old bottle. The liquid is deep brown (no stars on the bottle though). Bought it in Montreal from a French beauty store that was selling a bunch of older perfumes they still had in stock. I regret buying this one to be honest. They had other Reminiscence perfumes that I would have like better. It's not a typical vanilla perfume. It's rich and boozy. It's strong and not gourmant. I smell something woody, rich woody smell. It's a dark perfume in some sense. This is mature. Totally unisex to be honest. It would fit a well-dressed gentleman or an alluring woman. It's a fantastic perfume for those who love this kind of perfume but this is not for me. It's overwhelming to me. If anyone is interested I'm thinking about selling it sometimes as it takes lots of place of my shelf and I never ever reach for it.
