Snowpeach

Ahhh, Snowpeach, you little cutey you! I was not sure what to make of Snowpeach upon first application. It brought very strong memories forward fo 'something' I had spent a good deal of time exposed to at one stage. Right on the tip of my brain.... It hit me upon a second smaller test application that this smells exactly like sour peach lollies! I must have consumed a few kilograms of them in my time. The peach in here is not a natural smelling one nor is it exactly sweet (although overall, this is a sweet perfume), it is clouded with salty and sour notes. Extremely unusual for a fruity floral and Renee has shown some real flair for the dramatic here. Like Guerlain Insolence, this is one of those perfumes which are not exactly candy-sweet but still posses a candylike quality to them. I usually find them off-putting but with time, to be extremely endearing and cute to wear. Towards the end though I find that same aerosol note that troubled me in L'eau rears its unflattering head here too. I notice that both contain 'green notes' so I can only surmise that whatever these green notes consist of they are to blame.

Peach in fragrances can often leave me less than impressed, however this particular fragrance has delighted me in ways that I never thought possible. It tends to be more clean than fruity and/or sweet, and for me personally, I wouldn't want it any other way. Snowpeach is all about peaches. It doesn't take a scientist to figure that one out. What I like most is the way in which this fragrance has been composed. The peaches in Snowpeach are sour and crisp, and the grapefruit accord helps in creating a bright, sparkling finish. It reminds me of the scent of shampoo, and I mean that in the best way possible. Sometimes there's nothing better than smelling fresh and clean, like you've just stepped out of the shower. Believe it or not, men really like that fresh smell too, and over the years I have received more compliments on my choice of shampoo than on my perfume. Snowpeach might challenge that. Orange blossom and grapefruit when blended with the peach, do tend to freshen up the composition. I find this fragrance quite energizing, and it never fails in bringing a smile to my face. I suppose you could call Snowpeach simplistic, although I personally think its straight-forward approach works in its favour. The drydown is a lovely blend of clean white musk and juicy peach. I've worn this fragrance for two days straight, and have been amazed by its wonderful lasting strength and moderate sillage. It works in almost every season, but Spring and Summer are probably the best seasons to wear it. I think more people need the opportunity to test this fragrance and the rest of Renee's line. I hope Luckyscent will start stocking them all again. Australia definitely has some talented perfumers.

This house from Australia seems pretty obscure, and if not for my fragrant friends abroad, I'd have never encountered it. According to Fragrantica, the story of former realtor Renée's humble origins in perfumery began when she took a liking to the scent of tuberose soap at a hotel where she stayed. Well, okay. This particular perfume, SNOWPEACH opens just like a freshly cut peach. Within less than a minute, the peach does a Benjamin Button and becomes unripe--green, to be more precise. I smell a fair dose of hyacinth, but by the drydown the combination of the fading peach and the hyacinth yields something like the scent of an unripe peach. I find some overlap here with Annick Goutal Petite Chérie, what with the green and the peach. One difference is that the Annick Goutal variation on this theme features more of a grassy green and less of a hyacinth or green peach scent. Still, they are similar enough to be able to say that if you like one, you'll probably like the other. I like both. Unfortunately, the longevity of Snowpeach is rather poor.

Once again, thanks to a dear and cute friend (:D) I have this beauty! It starts as fresh cut leaves and dries as a delicate and almost "eatable" peach. Fresh, but strong and longlasting. It stays with me for more than 12 hours :)
