Black Rain

i got a tester of this i sprayed on my left hand and i smelled it directly of my wrist my first reaction was disgusting what a mess and on my right hand a sprayed crystal rain which I liked 5 min after i start getting compliment i thought crystal rain was doing her magic but weird enough every person that complimented me said that was not the fragrance that they are smelling on me i was getting compliment over black rain and it seems the projection is crazy on this one because i was in open air and it was kinda windy and i only sprayed twice from 1.5ml tester =>start as a obnoxious dark scent but 20 min after turn into a clean and real violet scent with a hint of leather unfortunately i don't like the violet scent in any parfum yet i found it here tolerable

I was really surprised by this. I wasn’t sure what to expect - and when I hear “leather” - I immediately think of two fragrances: Tuscan leather and Rien. This is not that type of leather. In fact, I personally wouldn’t classify this as a leather dominant scent. At least not in the traditional sense - and to whoever mentioned montale below - I totally agree with that. In fact, I’d say it’s along the same lines as black gold from mancera. I get a strong feeling of luxury from this scent. It’s definitely a statement scent. I think this comes across as a complex unisex fragrance with lots of depth. You’ll be discovering new facets for weeks to come! Very enjoyable and highly recommended. 7/10

Was almost sure that here there is a huge dose of Montale-style synthetic oud at the beginning. Certain drama at the start. Now I see that was a combination of leather with musk - smells animalic, but melts into rose, chamomile and really well done ambergris. After testing both Crystal Rain and Black Rain - I Am impressed by quality, I Am not getting image of any "girl with umbrella " in this composition, but I strongly like it as a rose lover. It stands out among similar fragrances, - ambergris that I do miss sometimes ,takes it on a very crafty, sensual level. Big chances I will go for FB. Became really curious about other fragrances of Daniel Josier now...

This is quite a sensual and sexual scent. However, it's also a bit of a paradox because it at times felt kind of juvenile to me. It's sexual from the leather and rich depth, yet at times becomes too much like a soda from the prominent candied violet. I feel like this has pheromones added. My SO likes it on me. I like it a lot too and was considering buying a bottle—but there is one problem; It makes me sneeze a lot and tickles my nose. So I've ultimately decided to pass on it. But if you like sweet violet and dry, sultry, slightly spicy leather then definitely try this beauty out.

Love it. My favourite from the house so far. Rich, thick leather with rose and chamomile, easing off to the fresher notes of jasmine & orange & ambergris. There is something very attractive about this fragrance, something deep, something yet to be uncovered.. 5/5

Black Rain opens moderately warm, detected from the beginning a powerful musky-woody facet that dominates and becomes more powerful as it evolves in its development to drying is a very nice note of ambergris (Ambroxan) also leans more balance use to a more masculine side. Note rose and jasmine feel from the start, but in the background, are mere companions to this party ambergris, the hard little jasmine and rose note survives to join a soft patchouli and a light and delicate suede . During drying (and pegadito to skin) survives a pretty pale pink note and ambergris, very fine and well balanced, but here the amber becomes more ethereal and vaporous by a soft musk that surrounds you placidly. The qualities are medium-high and moderate lasting wake. I did not like this fragrance works in the same line of Acqua di Parma Ingredient Collection. It's like a mixture between Oud and Ambra clone. And a little more than the duration could have been improved. On the other hand, I loved the good overall progress and harmony with which Josier has linked within this combo note rose that looks great at the end result and powerful note of ambergris, making it more versatile, wearable and less tiresome than the "di Parma". Rating: 6.5

I had purposely forgotten the notes so I could test this with an open mind. Leather! This is all about the leather. It's slightly heavier and more animalic, but it's in the same family as the leather in Daim Blond by SL. The second most prominent note is ambergris and it's the pungent ambergris more popular in vintage creations instead of the white, airy ambergris interpretation found in most modern compositions. There's a dry sweetness here as well. This is not the exactly the same as Le Male by JPG but it's similar in feel. Warm, dry sweet, animalic, musky and enveloping. There's a subtle dark cherry vibe for me. I'm not saying there's actual cherry in here but it's what my nose tells me I smell. In my opinion, this is completely androgynous.

strong, piercing dry leather , more on the sweeter side (but would not say it was sweet at all!) this is a clean leather (as opposed to an oily leather). as a leather fan, this does not bring in the uniqueness factor but it is clearly a good quality staple for all lovers of leather. rates high both for projection and longevity. enjoy! P.s. I would not say it was powdery, the leather note is not muted, remains very crisp.

Black rain is a strong fragrance. At first application I was woww! pungent!! the rose opens strong on my skin them the violet it woww amazing lol. It's a bit sweet, warm and a bit powdery later on the Leather its the star of the show (a bit heavy and animalic). It's perfect for cold winter days! Sillage is moderate & longevity it long lasting on me!

I’ve got a funny relationship with this one. It projects really well and I love it ....as long as I don’t smell my wrist direct. It’s smells different then. As for the perfume itself - A lovely, gentle leather scent. One I would recommend to anyone new to leather as a safe place to start exploring this note.

Very similar to Colonia Intensa Oud by Acqua di Parma

I confirm what some previous reviewers stated: it's highly inspired by AdP Colonia Oud. (With a - little - twist to say "it's not a copy, buy it", obviously). Performance is average (at best). Not impressed with Josier's cash grabbing house, and I'm afraid that he repeated the model here for Renier. Not bad, just seen many times before, no originality, and way overpriced for what it is. AdP Colonia Oud can be currently bought for ~$80/100 for a 100ml bottle on ebay. This one is listed at $155 for 50ml. Make the math, and that will tell you how bottle worthy it is.

Currently testing this one on a cool, rainy day wearing a navy sweater and a leather jacket. It seemed rather apropos. This is a nice floral leather. Like other fragrances from the house, it doesn't reinvent the wheel. Although I haven't myself smelt AdP Colonia Intensa Oud, this still doesn't feel all that unique. Nevertheless it's an enjoyable fragrance that has started to grow on me over the past few days. In the opening I got a rough and tumble pebbled leather kind of vibe, sharp and a little bit pungent. But never fear - this one is a lover not a fighter. Soon the leather is smothered with a bouquet of dusty, almost creamy florals (powdery violets, supple rose, very distant chamomile) and cozy musks. The patchouli appears a little bit later in the drydown, but it's a shy patchouli whose sole purpose is to buttress this leatherbound vase full of moldering flowers. I get an old fashioned vibe (not to say that this smells "classic" per se), a kind of dustiness that reminds me of a Guerlain. I would say that if you're afraid of florals this one leans feminine, but being the ardent devotee to rose and iris that I am, this doesn't bother me. I think it's unisex, right down the middle. In terms of performance, I'm getting average longevity (~5-6 hours) and decent projection and sillage (2-3 hours). So far it's fared better on my skin than Kisses Rain and Crystal Rain, though not better than Oud Rain, which is the top performer of the house on my skin so far (though I haven't given Habana 500 a full wearing yet). Would I buy a full bottle of this? Hard to say, but probably not. I like it, that's for sure, but it's not a love, and I think that the "floral leather" slot in my collection is well filled by Dior Homme Parfum. Still, this one is well worth a try. 7/10 P.S.: I will echo a previous reviewer's comments about the caliber of Renier's customer service. I reached out to them about a minor shipping issue and they responded quickly and succinctly. What's more, even though I only ordered samples of the Rain line and De Lirius, I was lucky enough to receive samples of Behique and Habana 500 as well, allowing me to sample the entire house. Even if I'm not in love with all of the fragrances from Renier Perfumes, it's this kind of quality service, and quality artistry, that makes supporting small niche and indie brands like this worth it.

Renier Perfumes Black Rain by Renier Rodriguez Mendez (Review) this is classified as an Oriental Floral, the notes are Patchouli, Ambergris, Rose, Musk, Chamomile, Violet, Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Leather. A black rain that falls ever so gently, cleanses away the grey with the promise of a new day, as the thunder strikes down, it's so intense, I know we'll see each other once again. A gathering of angels that has fallen from heavens garden, a chant of a symphony of hope and prayer, it's a spiritual awakening of rebirth, light, destiny and solitude. My dreams of you are so vivid, as I feel you lay your gentle hands upon my skin and watch closely over me, what I wouldn't do to have you buried within me eternally. J.Sagona (2016) I get a ripened, murky, skanky, with a touch of dirtiness patchouli, that muffles a tea tinged, slightly sweet, herbaceous chamomile, and an ample, citric nuances, delicate rose. Then a darkened heart, slightly worn, mysterious, jacket leather, that falls through a musky, oceanic, watery ambergris, and a powdery, leafy, with a touch of green violet. I get the Patchouli, Rose, Violet, Leather, Chamomile and Ambergris, it opens up with a dark, pungent patchouli, and an herbal, grassy chamomile, the patchouli is strong, the chamomile is soft. After twenty minutes the chamomile dissipates, the patchouli softens, in comes a powdery, dusty rose, and a ripe, aromatic, black leather, the rose is strong, the leather is mild. After five hours the patchouli and leather dissipate, the rose softens, in comes a salty, watery ambergris, and a grainy, slightly metallic violet, the ambergris is soft, the violet is mild. Black Rain is a very warming, dark, earthy, sultry, deepness, a touch animalic, sensual, sexual, white floral and spiced nuances, unisex, Oriental Floral fragrance. This would be amazing from the Fall and Winter, I get average projection and average longevity, this is an absolute masterpiece from Renier Perfumes, 5/5 Stars. Black Rain is extra perfumey, meaning leaning feminine fragrance. The first thing you'll say is "Wow, it's beautiful!". It's also very forgettable. Since this is the 7th Renier I have reviewed (the entire line), I'll give you my list of my favorites. 1. Habana 500 Coffee and Milk (10/10) INTOXICATING, but HEAVY! 2. Oud Rain summery oud. Best blind buy you can make with a Renier fragrance.(10/10) 3. Behique situational fragrance that will help you sleep. (8/10) 4. Crystal rain (8/10) Tangy Aventus 5. Kisses Rain (7/10) beautiful fragrance, but definitely leans feminine. A woman may rate this as a 10/10. 6. Black Rain (5/10) Beautiful fragrance, but way too overpriced for what it is, and it's forgettable. ADP Colonia Oud which Black Rain is compared to is a 10/10. 7. My first impression was whoa! pungent and then it was yum! I felt like this is the combination of every night perfume I've ever loved. I got rose and amber, and mystery fruit, watermelon? I thought sure water Black rain, watermelon. The fruit becomes more cherry over time and mixes with Diesel? something fumie, then it becomes church incense. At some point when it was developing I was like this is what Escada Moon Sparkle smells like over Demeter Fireplace, with some rose added. (That's my ideal scent.) Sadly it didn't stay that way, but it dries down into a lovely incense-y amber.

Only having received and smelt the Rain line today, I can say that Black Rain is my favourite. Kisses Rain is gorgeous, and if I didn't already have Noir Exquis by L'Artisan, I would probably buy it, but it's very similar. Black Rain has an invigorating and complex beauty. A bright opening with the camomile and patchouli, it develops into softer leather, cushioning a sweet violet and creating something rather special on my skin. This is a Fragrance I will be buying. So well blended and beautiful.

Very nice leather and violet scent. Complex and quite fresh. Great performance. Renier’s line of fragrances has surprised and impressed me. Oud rain, kisses rain and crystal rain are my favourites, but this one is great too. Renier has 5ml sprayers on his website for nice price. Great way to experience the line.

This was a gift from a friend, it’s a very wet, floral scent. It’s like if you were standing outside in the rain in your floral garden. I wear this fragrance not often but I do like it in colder climates.
