Kisses Rain

A beautiful dream. In the opening I was immediately reminded of Fève Délicieuse, one of my all time favorite gourmands. Fève of course is all about the titular bean, and is a bit more mentholated with the mint opening and lavender. This one, however, is a bit less conspicuously gourmand. It's less sweet, spicier, and more floral than Fève, and also softer in terms of performance. The opening is a beautiful mélange of almond, powdery heliotrope, cardamom, rose, vanilla, and what I assume is tolu balsam (I must admit that I'm not that well informed on how that note in particular smells). A very clear image emerges in my head of some kind of fairy dust or powder being thrown into the air in front of some red velvet. Soon a subtle but noticeable coffee note emerges from the powder-sweet cosmetic haze, along with woods (I don't so much of an oud or cedar impression from those woods but I suppose that's what they are) which serve to anchor the composition. In the drydown, this down-to-earth (literally) woody-coffeeness continues to develop, but the fragrance never loses this kind of ethereal halo-like quality - aerialness, skyward orientation, lightness, whatever you want to call it. In that sense it does have a romantic aura to it, not just in the conventional sense, but also in the sense that it has the character of an idealist, a dreamer, a poet. I could see this on one of those waifish kind of Gothic poets with gaunt features and wild hair that died young. And I do get the sense of a rain of kisses, as other reviewers have mentioned. It's like a kiss from a girl with vanilla lip balm that lingers on your lips for hours after she's left, whose heat can be rekindled if only you lick...This is the stuff of dreams and desire that is suffused with some kind of magic. Now that I've gushed like a blushing schoolgirl, the negatives. I find the performance, at least on my skin, to be tragically lacking. Of course, I must add the caveat to every review that I write that I have perfume eating skin and live in a hot and humid nearly tropical climate (northern Taiwan). Almost nothing lasts on my skin here. However, I'm trying this on a relatively cool day (18 degrees Celsius with 50% humidity), and getting, max, 20 minutes of projection and maybe 4 hours of longevity as a skin scent. At $150 for 50ml, that is pretty ludicrous. Now, this is only my 3rd wearing, and the sample set had to take a long international voyage to get here, so it could well be that it still needs some time to settle. Nevertheless, I'm never optimistic about performance improving with my hungry skin, so I have my doubts. For just a little bit more, I could get 125ml of Fève Délicieuse, which is by no means a beast but still performs decently well on my skin, and is equally beautiful. I'll have to do some more testing to determine whether this is bottle worthy, or if I'll let our short, passionate love affair end with 5mls and a kiss. 8/10 P.S.: I will echo a previous reviewer's comments about the caliber of Renier's customer service. I reached out to them about a minor shipping issue and they responded quickly and succinctly. What's more, even though I only ordered samples of the Rain line and De Lirius, I was lucky enough to receive samples of Behique and Habana 500 as well, allowing me to sample the entire house. Even if I'm not in love with all of the fragrances from Renier Perfumes, it's this kind of quality service, and quality artistry, that makes supporting small niche and indie brands like this worth it.

Ok, where to start with this one. Ladies and gentlemen, this is special stuff. The first assosiation I got was Feve Delicious. The opening is similar, but its not really that sweet as Dior. It soon dries down to a very smooth, creamy almond and vanilla with hints of spices (cardemom and coffe?). It actually reminds me a bit about Naxos from Xerjoff. The quality is sky high and its very natural feeling. In opposite to many other fragrances in this category, Kisses Rain are not overly sweet and loud. Just perfect strength. Kisses Rain is a cozy and smooth fragrance. Imagine that its raining outside. You are wrapped in a cashmere blanket while looking into the flames of your fireplace. You get a magical kiss from soft lips with vanilla lipstick. Its not a normal kiss. Its one of those kisses that make your heart beat faster, yes its boarderline erotic. What will happen next? Thats how Kisses Rain make me feel. 9/10

A very nice scent, giving a mature but still a modern unisex vibe. Ideal for autumn, currently my signature scent, giving a good projection of 2-3 hrs and great longevity of 8+ hrs. It does get compliments and to my opinion is one of the most artistic perfumes ever. It's an amazing fragrance – it smells great and costs almost half the price of the most niche perfumes. Updated: Lots of compliments..second best to GIT!!!!!!

Kisses Rain is an scent PERFECT for colder days & nights. lovely unisex, creamy oriental semi-gourmand fragrance. Its Elegant and sensual; my favorite so far from the brand! on my skin the vanilla, rose, Tolu balsam and almond are the stars of the show! Simply a perfect romantic fragrance for Fall & Winter (Currently my favorite frag of the season) :) Sillage its heavy-moderate and great longevity on my skin!

i love this frag. it opens in a powdery almondy way on my skin. it creates a nice and delicious bubble around me for 1-2 hours. it stays on my clothes over 10 hours but it does not project so much and gets closer to your skin in 2 hours. anyway i love the way it smells and that smell comforts me. it is one of my favourite winter scent.

What a great fragrance!!! It's smooth and velvety, sweet but not too much, powdery almond and spices. In the dry down all that with musk and wood. Just wow, love it! Would love it on man also! Must add a great customer service at Renierparfums!

How I love to wear it! The begining is so fresh and sweet (lovely creamy accord) and later the Kisses Rain turns a warm and sensual balmasic/smokey tone. I totally agree @Blackened, it is a joyful gourmand, elegant scent. I love it!

Thanks to its sweetness, the oud is not very scratchy, but the sweetness is not too stingy. A perfectly delicious blend. The spread and permanence are quite good, but I can say that it is a slightly masculine unisex style.

Masterpiece! Blind buy now!. First spray in 3 second I knew it. Ordering a bottle tonight!

lovely unisex fragrance, would defo consider buying

We’ve had an unseasonably cool and wet Spring in the Pacific Northwest, so I’m still wearing my Fall/Winter scents. The forecast is about to change so I’m in a hurry to test a few of my heavier samples. Today’s turn is Kisses Rain. The scent itself opens with dense gourmand notes: almond, vanilla, a splash of coffee and a lot of spices. I don’t think the pyramid above is complete... I have not investigated this scent, but I’m willing to bet that cumin and/or caraway seed is in the composition. A good quality, synthetic oud is present from start to finish, but it’s not dominant. I feel that something is not working in the composition. It’s fun as a wannabe perfumer to imagine what I would do differently; a little too much spice and not enough rose or patchouli? Not sure. Kisses Rain is thankfully not a sweet scent, but for my taste the spices are too powerful. It’s just a big gourmand spice bomb, and very much a niche offering as I can’t imagine this one having mainstream appeal. Extreme lasting power with projection. Kisses Rain is not a masterpiece but it’s very well done and, for lack of a better descriptor, interesting. I find it oddly appealing, though it’s probably not the right scent for me. Edit: Going on 5 hours and Kisses Rain is growing favorably, warranting a second wearing when my husband commented that he “loves” the scent. I should know better when testing complex fragrances, to not form opinions until I fully understand the scent profile.

This is a beautiful fragrance with MONSTER Projection and longevity. Totally unisex, and by no means a girly, candy sweet, delicate gourmand, something I may have conjured up after reading several of the reviews - though I am able to pick up some of those notes. Just wouldn't want readers to anticipate a true gourmand with celebrity-type-fragrance sweetness and then be disappointed. This stuff is strong, with the unmistakeable quality and depth of a high end niche perfume. Certain qualities remind me of some of my Moresque and Spirit of Dubai fragrances. The website offers a discovery set of all 4 fragrances for a very reasonable price (with quick and friendly service). Definitely worth checking out. Best part is that they ship to the US! I started with the discovery set and days after receiving it purchased a full bottle of Kisses Rain.

Soft floral gourmand, well rounded with a smooth almond milk. The wood/oud combines with the almond in a way that reminds me of creamy horchata even if there is no cinnamon listed. There was another association that slipped in as well of baby wipes, not in a bad way, must be the powdery floral mixed with almond. It is satisfyingly sweet without being tooth rotting and lasts well. This smells the way I thought Shaghaf Oud Tonka (and similarly Velvet Tonka) would smell, how I wish it did smell when I blind bought it, but this is a much better rendition of almond.

Hard to know what to expect here. I actually don’t find it too feminine, although the name is embarrassing. The scent itself is in the same ballpark as mancera black gold - probably with more florals and a little brighter. I don’t find it unique - having sample a few other “rain” scents from this line, it’s easy to see that they’re all related. Overall, it’s ok. Is it a masterpiece? Hardly. It’s a decent unisex scent that will appeal to many - but might not wow you like you’re expecting.

This is not the mesmerizing romantic scent I was expecting. I get a soft, blurry vanilla and almond scent. That's about it. Maybe there are some more notes hiding in there if I smell it up close, but they are hardly detectable to me. It smells pleasant but there's nothing intruiging about it. It lacks complexity and stays very close to the skin.

Pointless release when it comes to any innovation in the industry. From what I have tried from this house only the one with azure blue bottle stood out as unique. Rest was all clone material. This one is Dior's Feve/Guierlain Tonka crossover with very off development pulling quite feminine for first 3-4 hours. Quite sad to see this lack of innovation in the range. Priced half the current retail it would be a maybe for me or as a gift for wife but at its current retail it's no bueno.

Gourmand floral oud. Nice (assuming one has the patience to wait for the drydown), but already seen before. At $155 for 50ml I'm expecting more than "just nice with average performance". Pass for me.

Kisses Rain by Renier Rodriguez Mendez (Sample) New (Review) this is classified as an Oriental Woody, the notes are Bergamot, Agarwood (oud), Cardamom, Rose, Almond, Atlas Cedar, Coffee, Heliotrope, Amber, Musk, Patchouli, Vanilla, Tolu Balsam. Kisses Rain is the third instalment in a series of fragrances from the Renier Rodriguez Mendez's fragrance house, the other two being Black Rain and Crystal Rain released in (2016) Kisses Rain is a sensual and modern perfume, with a floral character, it is a sophisticated and spicy fragrance, strong, but in its right measure, while still losing its charm of conquest. The cardamom and rose give a luxurious appearance to the perfume, while the chords of Oud combine very smoothly with the Heliotrope, Vanilla and the almond giving as a result a creamy, poetic and floral melody very artistic. Towards the base it becomes a more interesting perfume thanks to the patchouli, Musk and Vanilla, the latter in its rightful measure brings a tender sweetness to the whole composition itself. I get a blackened, musty, dried, warmed, agarwood (oud) that crashes through a murky, green tinged, soiled patchouli, and a powdery, slightly sweet, delectable vanilla. Then a fiery, balmy, comforting, fluffy, with a touch of vanilla amber burns through a hazy, fogy, floral heliotrope, and a deep, tepid, amber nuanced tolu balsam. I get the Agarwood (Oud) Amber, Patchouli, Vanilla, Tolu Balsam and Heliotrope, it opens up with a smooth, woody agarwood (oud) and a grassy, earthy patchouli, the agarwood oud and patchouli are strong. After thirty minutes the agarwood (oud) dissipates, the patchouli softens, in comes a dry, dusty vanilla, and a warm, resinous amber, the vanilla is strong, the amber is mild. After six hours the patchouli and amber dissipate, in comes a sweet, nutty heliotrope, and a sweet, aromatic tolu balsam, the heliotrope and tolu balsam are mild. Kisses Rain Is a very mild, citric nuances, a touch spicy, sensual, woodiness, powdery and musky nuances, unisex, it leans more masculine Oriental Woody fragrance. This would be beautiful is the Fall and Winter, I get average projection and average longevity, this was a wonderful fragrance from Renier Rodriguez Mendez Perfumes 4/5 Stars.

Lovely semi-gourmand of the master Renier in collaboration with the baton of Daniel Josier, which begins with a fig note, not that wet and green fig common in other perfumes but more explosive in its side of sweet and fruity pulp, and that gradually goes retreating to be soaked in a sweet layer of almond and coffee (very well drawn) that brings a nice evolution towards the landing in a slightly balsamic vanilla. It has the virtue trait of a cheerful woody/gourmand, easy to wear (but still persistent) that makes it versatile, pleasant and elegant .. and put it apart from the sphere of a cloying sweetness or from those that have difficult adaptation to other contexts out of "spring" . It is a very nice perfume that .. in the same way as that "rain of (desired) kisses", evokes the image of a joyful, warm/fresh and not bothering sweetness.
