Musky Rain

I have wanted a sample of this perfume for like ever and a wonderful Fragrantica friend here gave me one. I was scared to blind buy this perfume but I didn't need to be. Musky Rain is absolutely beautiful! Heady, buttery, green, animalic, fresh, spicy, floral, Dewy, wet and lush combo of both narcissus and ylang. The spring of the northeast USA narcissus blooms meets the tropical regions of Madagascar ylang. What an interesting and stunning combination. Musky, deep and rich while still remaining very transparent, simplistic and gauzy. Like lightweight silk. Feels fresh and airy while still having weight, texture and body. There are slight similarities to Tom Fords Jonquil Nuit here but that perfume was more of a fantasy floral not a realistic one like Musky Rain is. Also, Musky Rain has the TF beat in longevity and projection. This perfume is very, very FB worthy! Love, love this one. Also, if you love Zoologist Civet you will love Musky Rain as well. Edit: 11/27/24. As much as I loved this fragrance and enjoyed wearing it I'm passing on a FB. The narcissus note while there is somewhat overshadowed by the ylang, vanilla and heavy musk note. It reminded me of a stripped down Zoologist Civet. I love Tom Ford Jonquil Nuit but the sillage and longevity are terrible! A problem with most of the TF that I love. If I find them boring, they perform great. Such is my luck. I just picked up Providence perfume company Moss Gown instead. Prominent narcissus note with other florals and cedar moss. It has much better longevity and gives me that spring green feeling where musky Rain while beautiful is more tropical IMO.

A stunningly beautiful, almost photorealistic shot in time of new, freshly cut blooms. A dewy, but not overtly green, presence exists beneath a gorgeous buttery narcissus. The heady top makes way to a softer heart, where the jasmin and ylang bloom together in a slightly waxy but delightful melange that melds the top notes together in indolic bloom. The sandal and amber base are not dominant and lend supporting features to what is a magnificent narcissus floral. The civet extending slightly to the sweet but sultry side of the narcissus, its nubile qualities presented here as a tease; its naughty but sheer - you definitely want more of it. Masterpiece indeed.

This fragrance evokes primal instincts with its intense musky and animalic notes. While some may find it intriguingly raw and bold, others may find it overwhelming and off-putting. Its unapologetic character makes a statement, but its divisive nature may not be for everyone. I think Musky Rain is disgusting. 1/10.

This is way too animalic for my liking. I really cannot get past that to smell anything else in this fragrance.

Incredible white floral. this is what TF wanted to do with Jonquille de Nuit but failed... Realistic freshly cut narcissus with its delicate musk and characteristic bitterness. It’s green, powdery, soft, bitter, and sweet all at the same time, just like the real flower. very fresh and natural smelling, too, and my favorite part is that it keeps those qualities without getting sweeter, soapy, or synthetic in the base. It’s like smelling a narcissus bouquet on a cool spring morning. Love!

Heavy yellow floral, smells very old fashioned but I like it. It stays on the skin for eternity! Baffled that there’s no patchouli in the note breakdown. Patchouli is the most prominent base note!
