Revillon pour Homme

My review for Vintage Revillon Pour Homme - I was very fortunate to find a large, mint condition (with absolutely perfect juice), 8oz flacon from a private estate sale! It is classified as a Woody Chypre (and it is a classic and excellent one that is nearly impossible to find)! Here is the pyramid: TOP NOTES Lavender - Artemisia - Petitgrain - Rosemary HEART NOTES Carnation - Geranium - Pine needle - Cinnamon BASE NOTES Cedarwood - Moss - Fir - Tonka The notes are absolutely true to form. It is a wonderful and aromatic fragrance with Fir and Pine being the two predominant wood components - mixed beautifully with a soft cedar. I would say this is a "sharp" and lifted fragrance with the lavender, artemisia and carnation along with fresh-cut rosemary on the top. The petitgrain is nice here - opening with a green and slightly herbaceous citric aroma. While the cinnamon is just a hint - nothing strong, it creates a slight dusty spiciness to the overall fragrance which is perfect. The Pine needle blends in almost immediately - and this is the key to this fantastic scent. It is as if you are in the middle of a coniferous forest - standing in a beautiful field of flowers (carnation and geranium are blooming alongside the well-integrated lavender), grasses and herbs. It is so very up-lifting for the first couple of hours of wear (again, very forest-like)...nothing synthetic at all here in the slightest. I get a drydown that is wonderful and harmonious that warms up, yet stays definitive. The Fir/Pine needle blend along with the Cedarwood in the heart and drydown are what make this woody-chypre unlike any other I have tried. The Moss is definitely present, but it is not a heavy moss. The pine and floral keep it from becoming musty. I love moss - and it was used perfectly here to add the "forest floor" to the base notes. I get the fresh-cut wood, needles and even some pine resin - but nothing is too strong here, just refreshing and spicy. The florals intermingle and refresh the olfactory senses wonderfully, but don't dominate. What I like about this Woody Chypre is that a wonderful, fresh and invigorating pine is the focus of the scent - not lavender mixed with wood. Lavender is articulated nicely but not overly used. Like the Tonka, it makes a small appearance in the evolving drydown of spice (cinnamon) and wood - adding a sense of warmth and comfort. However, it does not change the fragrance or turn it into something else. This is simply awesome vintage juice, in my humble opinion! I get about 6+ hours out of it in moderate application (it is not overly strong - another plus), yet I find myself refreshing with a couple of dabs or spritzes from a decant I made, just to get to start the pleasure over after 4 hours or so! I prefer to put smaller amounts on several times during a day of wear - similar to how I wear Vintage Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and other classic scents with rich blended notes, so I can enjoy the Top-Middle-Base transition multiple times versus putting on a large amount and having it fade throughout a day. Vintage fragrances should be admired and adorned - pause, breathe, enjoy and even write a little (so we can all learn)...and then capture the essence again while the fragrance is on you by "touching it up". I find that I pick out individual notes better that way as well. For example, the artemisia and rosemary are very key here - I noticed that after a couple of wearings (each with at least two or more light applications). Those components really bring the herbal notes together in this masterful juice. I can now pick them out when I wear this very easily. Revillon Pour Homme may be one that strikes some of you, at first, as a little different (as it is rather unique, but of truly great quality). It took me just two hours into wearing it for the first time to realize how good it is - then, I was in awe. This is as close a scent I have found as walking in a pine forest in the Autumn, with the sun peaking through the trees and breathing in deep, smelling the natural aromas! Surrealism, in a bottle... I would rank this Vintage bottle of Revillon Pour Homme a shining 9+/10 - quantitatively, but it is to me, sublime and the qualities make the fractional score meaningless! Revillon Pour Homme is stunningly natural, so intricately woven and truly harmonious...gorgeous!

Am I so @#$! luckly to find a 4oz/120ml vintage in a tall oblong falcon. I have to agree with ericrico and alfarom, this fragrance from Revillon opens with is a herbal rich green aroma from artemisia, oakmoss and pine needles shining through. A floral aroma of geranium and a very crisp lavender making this fragrance ABOUSOTLEY MUST HAVE considered that it was first launched in 77' The only notes I'm not able to smell is cinnamon and rosemary. Aside from that this fragrance is well balanced aroma of green's/(sweet) tonks bean powdery/woodsy aroma. Longevity; after spraying it twice, I'm able to detect this juice well past 6hrs. Silage is also moderate about 2ft away you are able to smells this fragrance. Finally, I have to pinch myself, how fortunate I am finding this EXQUISITE fragrance which is well worth having. The woods notes is subtle yet enough to give this juice a real attractive masculine vib. The natural aroma of green's of pine needles and fir is what love as soon as I spray it on my skin. 9.5/10

What better way is there to pay tribute to the pines than to deplete the ozone layer with an ol' Revillon Pour Homme pressurized atomizer— let's give that forest primeval a sense of purpose! Goodness knows how old this bottle is, but the citrus and coniferous terpenes are shockingly fresh, and the opening is like a handful of fresh pine needles and rosemary. It is verdant and resinous, between cedar-leaf and cedar-wood in the heart, and the tiniest bit of pine tar undertone. When it settles into a skin scent, there is a light cinnamon-inflected mossiness and a whiff of church cellar earthiness. It isn't exactly a powerhouse, but its civilized character has a certain charm. If feels like it's meant to adorn rather than douse the body. I would put it in the same vicinity as Captain Molyneux, Ebène de Balmain, Krizia Uomo, even the aromatic aspects of Capucci Pour Homme. It's proper stuff, if not entirely unique; a great addition to the masculine scent archives.

Ozonics from the 1990's, mousse de chene bombs from the 80's; these are examples of what was in fashion at certain times, or with what the cosmetic industry worked with throughout time. In the case of the 1970s, Yatagan, Krizia, One Man Show and others come to mind. So, in part, it does not fall too far away from these, but in its favor, this is quite elegant when compared with the rest. My favorite among this bunch was the original Captain, but the "honcho" spirit of the late and the boldness of the rest is nowhere to be found here. It might be a tad louder than Monsieur Rochas. A good one for nostalgia's sake: get that 1970s tailored-cut tweed suit from your wardrobe looking dated the right way and wear Revillon - the smell of wool and the scent will make a perfect match. That wold be classy.

Such a revelation this Revillon Pour Homme! It opens with the most classical herbal lavender paired to mossy notes to then introduce a pine / coniferous driven middle phase that shares something with another of my all-time favorites: Phileas by Nina Ricci. The central dark green accord is joined by masculine florals such as carnation and geranium while a super solid woody-mossy base supports the whole composition. Complex and refined but, most of all, while being unquestionably old-school, it sets itself apart from most masculine fragrances of the same era for being incredibly civilized while still resulting full-bodied. Incredible quality of the ingredients, fantastic performance. A must have and an instant favorite. Rating: 8.5/10

A great perfume, very similar to the great Captain Molyneux. Let's say it's C.M. who meets Ted Lapidus ph. Conifers, mosses, earthy smell, chopped pine wood smell, forest smell. A balsamic perfume among the most beautiful ever created. In summer it is very fresh, but it is good for all seasons. Very good duration, monstrous for the red version H.C .. For ADULT men.

It's hard to believe this was launched in 1977. It smells so crisp and so timeless. The opening with Lavender and Rosemary is so elegant. Very happy and grateful to have smelled this.

An exquisite masterpiece from the past. Well worth hunting a bottle in my opinion. Classy uncompromising green. The moss is right there in the early stage.fir and pine play a major role providing a Nice macho feel. Hundred miles from the nowadays trend. Longevity is superb yet it stays close to the skin.

Got this at a yard sale over the weekend. The pine needles note is the most realistic I ever smelled. Some will call it dated but if you like pine you'll love this. Christmas tree in a bottle.
