THE TALE OF GLAMOUR HARE AND CHARLOTTE TORTOISE 'Look at me!' said Glamour Hare to the other animals, 'Look how sexy and elegant I can look.' Glamour Hare began to dance through the forest ballroom. All the animals agreed that the Hare was very elegant and attractive. Then the Hare spun back to her starting point. 'Look,' she cried, 'I'm not even sweating. I can be pretty and elegant for hours and hours.' 'Yeah, that was nice to see,' said the yawning Sleazy Lioness. 'So, who wants to challenge my beauty and class?' said the Hare. 'Do any of you here think you can beat me?' None of the animals dared to speak. 'Look,' said the Hare, 'you're all too scared to even try?'. 'I'll try,' said Charlotte Tortoise. Glamour Hare laughed, 'You? The clumsiest creature in the whole forest? I deserve so much better than competing with a Tortoise'. 'What's the matter?' said the Tortoise, 'Are you afraid I'll beat you?' All the animals laughed at this and Glamour Hare was quick to cut through the growls, 'Very well then, Charlotte. We'll see who's the most graceful...and then we'll see who ends up laughing.' 'Okay, my dear,' said Charlotte Tortoise. 'Let's get ready then and show off our elegance tomorrow at 5:00 sharp'. The next day, all the animals gathered in the clearing very early to watch the preparations. Glamour Hare went shopping at the mall for a nice designer outfit, shining new shoes and a new expensive perfume flask. But there was so much to choose from... she was just taking a lot of time. Anyway, she would be on time for the pageant for sure. 'Are they ready yet?' asked the Sleazy Lioness. 'It's hard to tell with Tortoises,' said Trixie Badger. 'I don't see Glamour anywhere, but Charlotte seems to be arriving'. 'Is she? Really?' asked the Lioness. And indeed she was. Charlotte was wearing a nice, comfortable outfit, and sprayed herself with her trusty Revlon's fruity-floral-oriental called "Charlie Gold". Everyone nodded convincingly at her scent and looks. 'Charlotte Tortoise, are you ready to start?' asked Jeannie Crow. 'I mean Glamour Hare seems a bit late... But there's no reason for you not to start impressing us!...'. 'Don't worry,' said Charlotte Tortoise. 'She'll certainly catch me on the dance floor. I'll even try to speed up a bit. You'll see.' The crowd of animals watched impressed. Charlotte was well prepared. She slowly made her way to the clearing and executed some well-trained but safe dance steps. She even looked almost attractive and elegant. Her scent was quite convincing as it was feminine enough, mildly sweet and with pleasant notes of caramel and woody accords. At the end of the demonstration, all the animals applauded. And Glamour Hare was still nowhere to be seen. In fact, the Hare arrived a minute before the end of the Tortoise show. She arrived at great speed wearing a marvellous designer dress, four expensive-looking high-heeled shoes and scenting the surrounding air with a classy musky-civet-castoreum "Extract De Parfum". It was just too much for Sleazy Lioness' keen senses. While everyone was looking at Charlotte Tortoise, the Lioness pranced, jumped and caught Glamour Hare... 'It's not fair,' wailed Glamour Hare, 'it's not fair.' But no one was listening to the Hare. Music: Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Are You Ready Eddy?"

What a magical fragrance of golden delicious juice!!!.... I find it odd some people complain that the bottle is ugly. It's not ugly it's just simple. I bought this EDT clear bottle off of eBay for less than $5. It's a very warm ambery smell. Very impressive for perfume so inexpensive. To be honest I really don't like the smell of cinnamon so I was thinking that I would not like the smell but I absolutely adore it because it doesn't smell like cinnamon on me. It smells beautiful flowery freesia but sweet. Chloe Narcisse, Treasure, and Ellen Tracy comes to mind immediately!The initial blast is a little strong but the dried down is absolutely phenomenal. It smells so fresh and classy. It's a very refined scent for very mature women. It's very powdery and I get the notes of plum, apricots and peaches. It smells so nice. Right now I cannot afford really expensive perfumes. But it's okay because these types of old school fragrances are classic. The newer fragrances try to emulate the older fragrances. They just package the fragrances for a lot more money and put them in a prettier bottle than Charlie does. This fragrance does not smell synthetic on me at all because its not synthetic its made from REAL PRECIOUS OILS. I'm really happy with this purchase the bottle is huge. I absolutely love it. It has a nice sillage and it lasts a very long time on my skin. Try it I think you'll like it. Update- the longevity of this perfume is unreal. I put it on at 9 am and it's now 8 pm and I can still smell it. It now smells more like vanilla or carmels. My friend said it smells soft and beautiful. What a gem! Another update- I had just sprayed this on me and when I got into the elevator an older gentleman said " WOW YOU SMELL GREAT". When I told him is was one of the Charlie perfumes he said it was one of the best he smelled! Another update 08-26-18- I wore this to work today and a co-worker said I smell like cotton candy!

Diamonds and Rubies Lite. Same parent company. All the rouge snuggly class of Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Rubies without causing headaches, causing others to faint, or lingering for a month in a room where it has been sprayed. Charlie Gold also has a hint of semi-sweet fruit like apricot that gives it an even more friendly appeal. I have previously compared ET Diamonds and Rubies favorably to Hermès Rouge in essence, except Hermès Rouge doesn’t have that signature Sophia Grojsman fuzzy angora sweater feeling that Diamonds and Rubies has. Charlie Gold gives a more slender impression of Diamonds and Rubies as well as Hermès Rouge, with just a hint of the texture of Diamonds and Rubies. Of the three, Charlie Gold is the least intimidating, and of the three it’s the one that won’t cause anyone to lose their appetite by evoking the feeling of having eaten a bottle of perfume. Yes, I love Rouge and D&R, but to smell them is to eat them. Charlie Gold is pleasantly non-invasive by contrast. Charlie Gold doesn’t smell cheap, it’s not overbearing, it’s very wearable, and its overall character is gently reminiscent of a distinctly classy, rare Hermès gem. The extended dry down is classic, chic, and better than the dry downs of many perfumes that cost a hundred dollars more, but I should mention that I detect a slight chemical smell in the dry down. It’s still an amazing value. Charlie Red is piquant, almost tart, and fresh. Charlie Gold is softer and sweeter.

The immediate opening for the first minutes is a bit harsh... But after one minute, the notes of this come out powerful and pleasant. For me, plum, peach, amber, and freesia dominate the scent... It is fairly linear until the far far dry down when the sandlewood finally announces itself, and it becomes a slightly sweet, amber, sandlewood scent with a touch of florals. I find this fragrance to be well rounded and timeless. My sister wore this when I was a kid, and it first came out, and I remember always loving the fragrance.... As an adult I love finally being allowed to wear "female" fragrances that I loved smelling as a kid, and teen, so I always have a bottle of this. I get where some people say that this fragrance has an "old woman" smell.... The musk gives this a slightly powdery characteristic, that can give that vibe... But it is not a strong vibe. You have to really search for it. To me this fragrance is very youthful (albeit dated, since it smells like a 1990's fragrance). The fragrance is a bit too playful and bright to be "old lady" to me. Definitely recommend giving this fragrance a shot if you are a 1990's kid and want some nostalgia.

Don't let the opening fool you with this one. Charlie Gold starts out quite old-school, like a typical peachy 90s floral. Think of something like Chloe Narcisse, but sourer and less appealing. When I first smelled it I was really surprised because I expected caramel and spices. Then it changes to a sunny, happy spiced stonefruit scent. Slowly but surely the cinnamon takes the center stage, and in the end, the lovely caramel note comes out. It's smooth and not as sticky-sweet as many caramel perfumes today. The peach and apricot never really leave, and their lush and juicy texture contrasts so well with the powdery sandalwood and dry cinnamon. It all becomes so warm, comforting and beautiful after a while. So, if you sample this, give it some time. And consider that the tester bottles for scents like this one often stand around for a while on the bottom shelves of the drugstore, so the topnotes might be a little off. The drydown is wonderful, you can't find many fragrances this good for the 5-10€ they're charging for Charlie Gold.

Charlie Gold Revlon (Store test) I test out Charlie out from curiosity and it is one of Pioneer fragrance in cosmetic house. Charlie seems to be highly impact back then it is re-release a few month back in Thailand (White, Red, Silver and Gold). Cost only 15 dollars. Consider the price point, this is surpassingly good in term of note rendition. Soft sweet, cosmetic, Plum-Aldehyde sweetness with synthetic powdery amber in the base. With respectfully add a drop of animalic tone. There is soft-spicy tone dancing a bit the background. Airy and emitting. This is very enjoyable experience. It is amber-floral with soft oreintal tone at the back. I admitted that the material in here is not so good but consider the price. I can see this as CoCo's younger sister. I think this is more than ok. A fragrance that can communicate the clear message. of Sweet, Warm, Motherhood / Woman like quality, hug and open. I could definitely see someone repeatingly wear this as a work scent for repeating message. Charlie Gold, is a firm love for me.

Tempted to blind buy this... I remember I got this as a gift when I was young, but I didn't really wear perfume then and can't remember how it was. I see few people here finding similarities to Chopards Casmir, which I own but has some notes in it that I dislike. I also can't detect that much cinnamon in Casmir, which is a shame. So maybe this cheapie would be something a little similar in style but better?! Edit: I just had to go and order it and I'm wearing it right now :) I think it was a wise decision to pick the Eau Fraiche version instead of the Edt. Since the bottle is big, I am now able to spray more liberately and use it before it goes off :) Of course, it's not that long lasting or strong in this concentration, but not poor either. I even tried layering this with Chopard Wish, which has caramel in it too, and CG emphazises the note nicely and brings warmth. I like this very much! Warm, cinnamoncy caramel, rose and fruity sweetness... Very suitable for the upcoming Christmas!

I have only recently become a member of fragrantica despite having used it to research perfumes for a while. I have been adding my perfumes as I go along and last night added Charlie Gold after remembering that I had put some perfumes I was not wearing much in a separate cupboard. While reading the reviews I saw a few people mention Tresor, which is currently one of my favourites, so I spritzed my wrist with Charlie Gold and could not believe that I have had it for years, although I haven't worn it in quite a few, and now that I am in the middle of a love affair with Tresor, did not realise the resemblance!!! When looking at the main accords they don't bring the same type of fragrance to my mind. Charlie Gold is wonderful however I have to use a light hand as it can be a bit overpowering as I discovered again last night - longevity and silage are huge! This was a happy re-discovery for me.

Charlie Gold is my favourite from the Charlie line. It’s honeyed peach with golden amber that’s dry and slightly powdery. It reminds me of my beloved and discontinued Gucci Accenti but without the obviously vintage animalics. I sprayed 4 times then went for a springtime walk along the lakeshore and enjoyed smelling my powdered peaches with honeycombed amber. I don’t find it vintage, in fact, one of my 20-something colleagues (who isn’t even old enough to know that Revlon even made fragrances) asked me what I was wearing as she liked it. Charlie Gold is not as powdery-cloying as Tresor, it’s not as warm spicy as Diamonds & Rubies, it’s not as pineapple-y as Mackie, it’s not as yellow floral forward as Poeme - to me it’s much closer to Gucci Accenti than any of these others. It’s so cheap that it’s 100% worth trying - but my snobby side wonders if it’s too cheap to become a signature.

I bought this perfume for purely emotional and nostalgic reasons; I'd smelled it as a child, I'd just lost my mom a few months ago and she had this fragrance and bought many bottles to give away to family and friends as presents, and I thought it would remind me of better times. When I first sprayed it I almost gagged! It was horrible! What was I thinking?! It was super screechy and overpowering. I put it on the back shelf and left it there for a few weeks. Fast forward to today and for some reason unbeknownst to me I picked it up and sprayed it on my wrist... AND I WAS MIND BLOWN! It's so beautiful. I can smell the peach, the rose, the jasmine and all the other notes and the dry down is to die for! I guess it just needed to stand and macerate, and mature for a while. This is a beautiful, seductive perfume. I'm never going to doubt you again, mama!

This one is my signature! I got 2 bottles and planning to get even another one sometime soon as I don't know if they will carry on sell where I live. Everyone compliment me and ask about when I wear Charlie Gold! When I tell them they got surprised as is not a perfume and is very cheap! I bought a eau de toilet and an eau de frâiche. This stuff lasts all day! Impregnates my clothes even after I wash them! I don't mind as I love it so much! Just avoid spray on your clothes unless when you wear black as left stain in the clothes. Not that I never done that but happened once when I was getting ready in a rush. This smell so vintage like ( as I am a vintage lover). So sweet, powdering, cinnamon, warm smell. I recommend only wear on the night and during the cold months.

I would love to wear Vintage Feminite du bois or Paloma Tentations every day but since they are discontinued and cost a fortune being so rare I can put them aside for special occasions and wear this delightful $10 bargain scent everyday. The carnation, cinnamon, sandalwood and cloves and plum notes make this similar in alot of ways to these scents. Also reminiscent of vintage Tresor with sweet apricot-peach before the reformulation which I now despise so that is also great. This is the only caramel containing scent I can wear as I don't like foody sweet sceny but in this slightly old fashioned blend it is just perfect. Gorgeous juice and sadly overlooked as the box and branding probably seem dated to modern consumers but their loss.

I love cinnamon perfumes and I'm always on the hunt for fun, inexpensive ones. This is fabulous in everyway and after one sniff made it to my favorites shelf. It almost smells like Lancôme Tresor and Chopard Casmir had a baby. The peach, cinnamon, and caramel show up the most to my nose. I wasn't aware when I ordered this that there were different concentrations and I accidently ordered the eau fraiche version which is in between eau de cologne and eau de toilette. Since this is so cheap, 7 bucks a bottle on ebay, I went ahead and ordered an edt version also so it will stay on my skin a bit longer. This one lasts about 4 hours which isn't bad but I prefer more longevity. A real gem and it's real cheap. Love!!

I wore this in the 90s. Forgot about it till recently. How fun is this one..it has a little something for everyone. At first spray, the orange, apricot freesia jumps out at you..then the peachy plums ..more jasmine..a little bit of spice adds interest, the notes take turns dancing around. Caramel and sandalwood rise up to a gourmand scent. Cozy...think Tresor with caramel..boozy, rich cinnamon, Dolce Vita... What a lot of bang for your buck with this one..but make sure you like the peach accord everyone was working in the 90s...related peach apricot orientals include: Tresor (fruity jasmine peach apricot), 273 (White floral to peachy apricot), & Giorgio Beverly Hills (peach apricot to white floral)...

If Chanel’s Coco and Giorgio Armani’s Gio were to marry, Charlie Gold would be their remarkable offspring. This fragrance has a creamy vibe that feels both contemporary and timeless. While it may not be the best fit for Gen Z, it’s perfect for someone who can effortlessly wear a blend of amber and fruit notes. I catch a faint whiff of Dove soap, cinnamon, freesia, peach, jasmine, and a hint of plum. This was a blind buy, and I’m thrilled it turned out to be a true score that’s definitely going into my regular rotation. AT THE END OF THE DAY: I still really like the way this smells...like it has enveloped me in a embracing hug of jasmine and powdery amberish muskish comfort!

Literally so comforting and feminine and seductive. Imagine a lady standing at the beach as the sun sets on her, wind blowing in her hair ever so slightly. Then she sits on the sand, basking in the setting sun. This is a caramel powdery sex bomb. God it is addicting on the skin i cannot stop smelling my arm. So fruity, powdery, warm, its like having sweet, syrupy pancakes covered in powdered sugar and enjoying them for a late dinner at a beach house. I can see this scent being perfect for winter too, but something radiates summer for me. Like, summer around 6-11pm. So delish. I can only imagine how it smells being sprayed in the hair and the wind tussles it along.

Once more I have to put my thumbs up for this gem. Today I've used my Charlie to go out for just over an hour. Once I back home, to my apartment, minutes after I arrived my hubby arrived in the lobby. When he opened the door of our apartment the first thing he told me was " I knew it that you just arrived at home because soon I opened the downstairs lobby door I noticed your nice perfume ". This is a Charlie EDT! And based alcooh fragances doesn't left trails after you've sprayed for over a hour ago ( at least is what I believed). That's means one thing... this one is even better than I thought ( super staying power, super silage!).

Another of my Summer blind buys. This is a very likeable scent but too intense. For me Charlie Gold is a rich, spicy, and exotic fragrance. The cloves and cinnamon seem to dominate this entire fragrance. I wanted something softer where the rose and powdery softness would surround me. I won't be repurchasing but am still happy that I got to experience this for myself. UPDATE - I just bought another bottle,and I love this fragrance of caramel,spice,woods,and rose. I got 3 and a half hours of wear time. Very beautiful scent. Charlie Gold does remind me of Tresor and Poeme. I must have bought a bad bottle the first time around.

Thanks to a lovely Fragrantica member(Tippy, thank you once again)I am wearing this beauty right now. I have to admit that the reviews for Charlie Gold left me with mixed feelings and I couldn't make up my mind whether to blind buy or not. But at the moment I can't stop smelling my wrist. This perfume is sweet on my skin - I can sense a tasty cocktail of caramel, apricot and peach. The cinnamon it's not too much. I can't distinguish the flowery notes yet, on me it's a fruity gourmand fragrance. IMO the scent is suitable for winter, spring and fall. Sillage and longevity are excellent.

I tried this on in a fragrance boutique, but my nose was so overwhelmed there by all the spritzes, it wss hard to tell what this was really like. I almost didn't get it, but the price was so good, I couldn't say no. And am I glad I got it. Lovely! Warm, round, soft, feminine. I thought it might be daytime only, but no, its good for night too. Will be enjoying this bottle. I get a lot of peach, apricot, just as in Tresor. But unlike Tresor, thete is a light spicy undertone. No sweetness, at least not on me. I love it! a keeper! esp at this price!!! just under $10!!!!
