Charlie Naturals Forest Herbal

This herbaceous beauty opens with the wonderful sharpness of galbanum, very much like its cousin, the original vintage Charlie, but soon tempers into softer, yet still brazing notes of green grass, yellow pollen, pine needle and moss. With a soft, very distant echo of that distinctive scent in the 1970s, emerald colored, Herbal Essence shampoo. The floral elements in this fragrance are aldehydic and quite translucent, they evoke the sensation of soft breezes blowing through a verdant field of wildflowers. The drydown is an earthen mixture of moss and woods, and is quite tenacious, via a highly aromatic base of vetiver, sandalwood, cedar, and musk. This is one that will make lovers of green fragrances swoon! Woodland greenery in a bottle. PS. This layers beautifully with floral soliflores. I've tried Honeysuckle, Violet, Rose, Gardenia, and Lilac. They were all terrific, especially the Gardenia !

I like that is different from Charlie original. You get a vintage vibe, like and old vetiver -sandal -ish- wood drawer with violets mixed with some flowers. Lovely, takes you to another time. Hard to find though!!

I vaguely recall this one being around in the later part of the 80s, but I didn’t have it back then. It has a little bit of the original Charlie DNA when you first spray it, but it settles into a green 70s chypre scent, along the lines of Chanel 19, Silences, Rive Gauche. With a dose of Aromatics Elixir. The bottle I have has the notes still intact, so it seems to have held up through time. Not bad at all for an 80s drugstore fragrance. This probably would work well in a cold, dry climate.
