Unforgettable

What a siren! This reminds me of a woman who has the chutzpah to wear real fur (not caring a bit who knows), dark red lipstick, and black or... WHITE suede stiletto boots dripping in silver or gold chains. She came of age in the 70's and frankly doesn't give a single damn regarding her overabundance of 'statement' necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets because less is never more. "Less is exactly what the word says it is, dammit." She has a hatred for the status quo and rocks AC/DC and Led Zeppelin much too loudly 'for her age' in her vintage Camaro or Corvette. Her 'soft' music is probably Journey. Her hair is still big. Her perfectly bold red nails are extra long and it's all going to stay that way. If you ever see her once, she is unforgettable, just like this fragrance. Bold, sexy, powerful and bright yet smoldering and a tad bit mysteriously dark at the same time. Wow! This is one of the finest amber frags I have ever smelled. It is thick, heady, juicy and woody; perfect for fall and winter. The sandalwood in this juice is killer loud and proud; quite unashamedly woodsy/smokey as a bonfire or nightclub and this is not by mistake. Unforgettable is a femme fatale party girl. The iris is gorgeous and powerful as the woman I imagine wearing it. Longevity is forever, as she is sure to leave her mark. I still smell hints of it even after a proper and soapy shower. It does smell similar to Joop Femme but Unforgettable is her much prettier, glamorous sister. She looks like a barbie and parties like a rock star. She owns the room and the road and will fight to the death to get her way, and does, without much effort. She is a force of nature and everyone knows it. She truly is Unforgettable... and I am completely in love with her. (Warning: Use with caution. This EDC has lethal potency. It is stronger than most concentrated pure perfumes. One VERY light-handed spritz of a few misted drops on a wrist or between breasts will do the magic. Anything more will RUIN this beauty.)

Gorgeousness. I've had Unforgettable now for only one day, but she is already living up to her title. So unusual in a perfume, to perfectly represent her given name. ;) We have divinely blended Amber, Musk, Florals... and what smells like a hint of civet. In other words, Unforgettable is a siren of a perfume! Two surprises: 1. Freesia usually hates me, yet here I don't smell it at all. Whatever chemical is used for freesia typically goes quite sour on my skin, but nothing of the kind happens. 2. Iris actually makes itself felt! It's quite difficult to find inexpensive scents with a (noticable) IRIS note, so I am one happy camper. As a final note, comparisons to Joop are correct. These fragrances have a lot in common, though a different emphasis. To be precise, Joop is considerably more Potent and longlasting. Unforgettable has a gentle cologne strength ( in spite of it's intially powerful top notes ). I find that Joop is more about tonka and sandalwood, while Unforgettable shares many rich floral notes notes but has a WARMER, more musky/amber vibe. Of the two, Unforgettable is more delicate, evoking a golden or copper color. Conclusion: No doubt about it - a 5 star drugstore classic! SEDUCTION itself....

I bought this on eBay and just got it in the mail today. My bottle has the red and black top. I have no idea if that makes it older or newer, but it's the only frame of reference I have for others. This is absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad I gave this a chance! On me it is mostly powdery wood with some amber and white flowers lingering in the background. It does remind me of samsara, and something else I can't quite recall. Tuscany per Donna, maybe? Nope, nothing like Tuscany, but very similar to LouLou. It's been a while since I've been so enamored with a blind buy. It's so beautiful 😍 By the way, for a truly magical experience try it with a little of kuumba made amber paste. Holy cow, next level!

If you can find it buy this! I had it in the 90s and recently found a 00's South African bottle and matching body spray set for a song. It's just like I remember. A sultry ambery incense with lots of orange blossom and niche quality orris and sandalwood. Naturally sweet creamy vanilla in the base. The freesia and jasmine is more prominent in the body spray. It's very sexy and sultry and better quality than many scents being produced today. To compare it to other perfumes I would say it's equal parts vintage Samsara, Joop Femme, Ciara and JPG Classique. All of which are not really me but come together in this powerhouse of a basement price scent.

Unforgettable was one of my very first perfumes (from High School) & my signature scent for years & years. I realise now it is responsible for my love of Amber notes. Slightly spicy, musky & a tiny bit powdery, the orange flower gives it a little bit of sweetness. Unforgettable has great sillage. After I finished my last bottle of Unforgettable I moved on to Joop! Femme, which I describe as the "grown up version" of Unforgettable. I then started on my fragrance journey so I don't have a signature scent anymore. I bought 2 bottles at a Revlon sale for nostalgia, they sit at the bottom of my cupboard, like a shrine to my obsession!

I am wearing this wonderful fragrance today. I sprayed it on about 30 minutes before leaving my house for work. About 3 hours later, I get an e-mail from a co-worker asking me not to spray my perfume in the office because it was way too strong. This is a sillage MONSTER on me. Just a little warning if you have people who you work with who are snobs when it comes to delicious smelling perfume ;o) I am going to see if I can find another bottle to stock up. Reading the reviews it seems like it is getting hard to find. Update: I found a bunch of them on eBay for a really low price! If anyone is interestd......

I used to LOVE wearing this powdery, sweet, sexy scent! I wore it throughout the 90's! Incredibly long lasting! I used to wear it to a former workplace and my ex-manager despised it (she told me so, she was incredibly rude about it). Needless to say, it used to hurt my feelings, then I got over it and bought more and doused myself in it like it was going out of fashion. Unforgettable taught me a lesson - NEVER let negative people try and rule your life. If you like/love a fragrance, WEAR IT, no matter what.

Wow where has this been hiding the past 26 years? It's beautiful! It's spicy and I keep thinking honey drizzled over some amber, with a dry down of sandalwood. It lasted a whopping 10+ hours on me the other day with it being hot out and me being outside all day...I'm impressed. Do I get the Joop Femme reference? With it being a favorite of mine, I sure do! I also feel a tinge of Revlon Ciara in here so if you like either, you can't wrong. Unforgettable truly is unforgettable...and a sex kitten ;)

It’s ironic to me that a perfume named Unforgettable went completely forgtten by me until I came across a photo of the bottle. Instantly the scent memory came flooding back, “oh YES I remember THAT one”. Amazing to me how the drugstore perfumes of past now stack up against current designer & niche offerings. Unforgettable is a charming ambery-musky floral, with a feminine powdery dry down and terrific performance. We need more of that today.

Absolutely gorgeous. Almost a little fruity in the top though no fruit notes are listed. Powdery iris, orange blossom, musk. Perfect and unique. Not overpowering like old Revlon but soft and gentle yet more than a skin scent. In the base more amber comes out, and it is ALL about the iris. The perfect iris fragrance. People are dropping $300 on niche that aren't as good as this. Great. Keep the secret and the price down.

WHAT?!? This is described as soft to moderate more than monstrous???? My skin eats scents for breakfast. I literally ran all my coworkers (3 floors) out of the office wearing this. Wow. Chemistry IS a tricky monster. I absolutely love this fragrance though.

I wore this fragrance in 10th grade- such memories! It was very powdery and a little sweet. I don't remember it smelling very floral though, so the notes surprised me.

Unforgettable Red Hot Candy & Snapper Fireworks, Or, Trying to describe Unforgettable Part One I know some people hate long winded reviews, ones that describe faraway places, or images, or found/lost memories inspired by fragrance. Many people would prefer single paragraph, scientific descriptions about the notes, the sillage, the lasting power, the pyramid breakdown, and end it there thanks very much. But this perfume is so strange yet so compelling for me that I have a lot to say about it. So the people that like to-the-point, no-nonsense, no musing, no past history, and note-by-note perfume reviews can stop reading now, and rightly so, as this perfume is by Revlon, forgotton as a perfume player, and the ironically named Unforgettable, was discontinued forever ago. So this review will be on one of those sad 6 review pages of ignored perfumes. So. I had the EDT, which was so loud, and so crazily aggressive, even to my old school nostrils, that I donated it to Goodwill. Then, I missed it, and got the widely available "Cologne" concentration. The EDC I wear only when I know I am headed for a hot shower. Isn't that weird? This is one of the few perfume I like for reference, and I miss the scent of, but I don't want to wear all day, much less spray on my decollatage, because the spicy notes are simply too much, and make me feel like I am 7 years old again. Unforgettable is simply the oddest, weirdest perfume I've ever smelled. It not bad, or poorly constructed, it's just freaking WEIRD. The overriding notes are not of amber, or amber maybe, fine, but amber via Red Hot Candy + Gunpowder. When I was growing up, our treats were not of chocolate, but of candy. We had Jolly Ranchers, PopRocks, Sourballs, Fruit Strips, Candy Rings, PushPops, Gobstoppers, Pixie Stix, and as an adult, I recognize how inappropriate these are--Big League Chew (standing in for chewing tobacco! How awful!?!) and Round Up "Cigarettes" that actually had a puff or two of powdered suger to immolate smoking, actual immolation, as if you were burning down your cig by puffing away!! But you could just chew the gum after the powdered sugar puff was gone. I remember I could also buy Snappers fireworks, you know, so when I was done with my cigarette I could throw down some gunpowder and make some noise! I could buy snappers right next to the Jolly Ranchers and PushPops and Bubbletape and all the rest, but by the time I was a teenage they were illegal to sell at the drugstore--but I'm sure Amazon or someone sells them now. Oddly enough, the Snappers are the thing I miss most, more than the candy or anything else, and there disappearance makes me think--hey, why can't anyone have fun anymore? There was something so satisfying about throwing those little tissue papered balls of gunpowder around and making that arresting yet soothing noise. If you weren't into candy and fireworks, you could buy chocolate, but your options were a sold Hershey bar, a bag of Kisses, or maybe a chocolate covered candy bar like Whatchamacallit or Snickers. But if you were on a limited budget, like the average 3rd grader, you went for the hard candy, because it lasted longer. A pack of Chicklets will give you 20 individual pieces of gum. A Jolly Rancher will last hours if sucked on judiciously, and besides, you could buy 20 for a dollar--no way a Hershey bar was 20 for a doller. Lastly, and most important, you had to WALK YOUR ASS TO THE PHARMACY FOR YOUR CANDY. My walk was about 15 to 20 minutes long, this was for a first grader walking 'downtown' and later to a strip mall complex as an 8 year old. In the 80s people let their kids wander around a lot more than they do now, and for that I will be forever grateful. Nothing bad ever happened to me, and to this day I think my freedom as a child helped me develop my fascination for simply WALKING, going to a new town and checking it out, maybe they have Jolly Ranchers Bubble Tape or Snappers that you can buy for a few pennies, and have them last all day. So that's the nostalgia, but really, the thing that's weird about Unforgettable is how it smells like Red Hot Candy backlit by Big League Chew, with a smouldering Snapper underbite. It doesn't smell bad or anything, but that's what the 'amber' smells like to me, like a candy section of a older, family run drugstore, an open, spilling box of Red Hots, combined with bubble gum, and other saccharine candy, but also maybe the candy section is next to their school supplies, because there is the unmistakable smell of fresh paper as well. Perhaps a new notebook, pen, and a box of Red Hot Candy for the first day of school? That's all I smell for hours. It's not amber, it's Red Hot and Mead paper. Not to say I don't like Unforgettable. It has that cinnamony, red hot amber, paper, woody, iris (in the EDT, at least, not so much in the EDC.) It wears like a fire siren, seriously, this is freaking LOUD. I tested it today (for the millionth time) and 1 spray on one arm, but a 'walk through mist' on the other, and the walk through technique actually worked--it was more of a subdued amber, floral, woody, satisfying base type thing. The saturated spray though was candy sweet-hot combined with sweet amber, paper, and some sweet saturated florals. I don't know, I've tested this a million times and I still can't describe it right. I really doesn't smell like anything ever worn, but the memories it brings back are vivid--long solitary walks to the pharmacy to get some affordable treasures, gum, candy, and fireworks, a bittersweet memory because I would often walk and wander out of boredom and loneliness, but as an adult I'm at least grateful for that, because if I was a kid today I wouldn't be able to wander at all.

This smelled horrible for months when I first got it. Experience tells me to wait while it settles and gets used to my climate. It’s 54 degrees Fahrenheit here in Minnesota, middle of February and this smells good for the first time since I bought it well over a year ago. Used sparingly, cuz this was made in the days when perfume was made like a real perfume. Just a dab and it’s rich, sweet, warm and slightly smoky. Not sweet in the way the younger kids like but sweet in the way florals can be sweet. It smells better in the walk by air than it does close up on the skin. It’s a very adult fragrance. A woman’s fragrance as in confident, self assured, and strong willed with wisdom. This isn’t for the young girls looking for attention and approval. This is for the grown woman who isn’t ashamed of who she is and doesn’t need anyone’s approval to exist fully in her own sovereign being. This is beautiful. I pray these times come back soon.

Oh how I loved this when I was a teenager and my aunt would let me sample her large collection! I finally found a bottle years ago on ebay (black and red cap) and I was in heaven! It is STRONG as your typical 90's perfumes were, but this was true an eau de cologne. Slightly spicy with a thick amber musk base. It is very sweet and floral but woody with a touch of powder (orris root). To help other get an idea (this is what always helps me out when I read others' reviews) is... -the most notable notes as I listed above - smells similar to JOOP Women. Actually VERY much alike. - also a bit like Revlon Ciara but without the Rasberry note and a classier wood. I'm trying to sell at least half of my collection (I've mention I seem to have a bit of a problem) but I'm still on the fence to list this one for sale, or keep for nostalgia! Ugh! 1st world problems.

Deodorant: My first thought of the overall scent was incense but looking at the notes, I guess it's a mix of every listed note: amber with a twist of woody and floral notes. I'd say it 's more floral than musky. The scent-combination between amber and some flower note is similar to a honey scent, so it could get "confused" with that. So Elixir by Yves Rocher and also Road Runner by Looney Tunes are all unique in their own ways but I definately find them a bit similar to this fragrance. It's a very elegant and classy scent with aplomb, suitable for any occasion and season. Although I find this blend of notes highly interesting, it's not among my favourites but I would wear it and for that reason I recommend it to those who think they'll like it after seeing the notes.

My mom had a small bottle of this (with the black and red cap) when I was 11 or 12 years old. I think she got this as a gift; she tried it out here and there but ultimately she didn’t like it enough to wear it all the time, so it wound up going bad 🙁 Before that, I used to sneak whiffs of this whenever I could. It was a nice enough scent- light enough to not be overwhelming or particularly memorable, but not too light to be boring. I hazily remember finding another bottle of this somewhere a few years later that must have turned because it smelled a lot like a spicy Cherry Cola. I wouldn’t mind trying this out if I found it nowadays.

Amber, musk, and as it dries, the woody-powdery notes come forth (mostly orris I think). I don't get floral or fruity in this one, at all. Not sweet, and could possibly even be a unisex. It was so unlike anything else I've smelled, I had to keep sniffing to make up my mind. Grown women wore this one. While not heavy, it's no ingenue fragrance. This is "You Might Not Be Able to Handle Me". Real men only dare this lady. Wear it when you're in that "I Am Woman" mood. Looked at the vintage ads on this one, on Youtube. A "sex with no winks in it...do you dare?" vibe that perfectly suited Cindy Crawford, and, this perfume.

i have vague memories of this one from when i was young. recently found a small spray and decided to try it and it does seem somewhat familiar. i get primarily orange and amber with a spiciness. it reminds me of coca cola with spice, which may be the orris root (?) i feel like there has to be some resin or incense in this as well. it smells a lot deeper to me than the notes would suggest. (just noticed someone below said that a turned bottle smelled like spicy cherry cola, so maybe that's what i have here.) anyway, i still kind of like this. it's spicy, orangey and reminds me of christmas.

So I bought this because I love avons mirada and there was always something about mirada that reminded me of Christmas in my childhood but it didn’t come out back then so when I saw that this is similar to mirada I thought this has got to be what is giving such nostalgia- well I received it today and it’s NOTHING like Mirada 😞 and it’s not familiar at all to me. Nor do I even like it 😞 it smells like hay and motor oil.

I wore this in the early '90's and loved it. There was a version that had sparkles or glitter in it and was pretty. I would put it in the category of Dune or Deseo and that kind of warmth. I miss it. The Mirada scent from Avon reminds me of Unforgettable.

If anyone knows of or has a bottle of the 1999 edition called Unforgettable Too, please drop me a line as I really want to try it. This is definitely reminiscent of Joop! Femme. I love both.

The box is smart, it's just one solid piece of card that's been folded cleverly to incorporate a nest for the scent. I was expecting the actual scent to be a lot stronger but it behaves like a typical edt on me, unlike some edt's with good performance, this is real edt quality. The bottle looks different to what's pictured above. I like the cap on the bottle which reminds me of a Chinese roof.

"Unforgettable, that's what you are ..." or so sang the handsome Nat King Cole in the advert with a young Cindy Crawford. I did buy this when it first came out and while I liked it, I didn't love it. One night I was playing around on Youtube and came across the advert mentioned above, and so decided to hunt it down and have a sniff for old times sake. I found it at Myer, a department store here in Australia, and asked the sales assistant if I could have a spray. It has certainly been reformulated because it was just AWFUL! Really acrid and unpleasant with none of the soft amber and musk notes that I remembered. Even the assistant remarked how off-putting and strong she thought it was. So like all good perfume hunters I managed to get a hold of a vintage bottle from eBay. And there it was, the beautiful fragrance that I used to wear. I actually think I like it more now - it's almost Tom Ford-ish in some ways, and conjures up a sense of modern glamour before the bling brigade hijacked that word. Unforgettable indeed!

Weirdly sweet ambery musky iris! I got a tiny sample from a fragrantica friend who loves vintages and i am surprised how this is pleasant to me! it has that weirdly fruitti top note that is mixed with musk, amber, & iris in away that it vanishes within few seconds from applying! that sweetness isn't cloying at all and not fully fruitti either! it has that orange blossom tingly factor with the sharpness of cedar and the darkness of the amber musk blend as i can sense lily of the valley quite clear. It's quite impressive actually ONLY if the top sweet note could have stayed there for more than seconds before it vanishes! but i can't deny that it's a cute vintage vibe frag. Interesting. Edit (15 minutes in) the drydown is orange sweet amber with musk and lily of the valley. NOW i can smell the 90s era quite well... Oh my childhood :D

Today I found both Unforgettable and Unforgettable Too at a chain pharmacy in South Africa. I tried both, one on each wrist. Pleasant scents - I could wear them, but not every day. Perhaps on a cool evening. Because of the sillage, I don't think either is suitable for the office - I can see that not everyone may like them, although I do. Unforgettable is sweeter and lasts longer than Unforgettable Too, but they have a distinct resemblance. Unforgettable is not expensive and also available as a deodorant body spray, which makes it excellent value if you like this sweetish, flowery, ambery fragrance.

This is quite the fragrance, and I'll admit it, I'm not sure what I really think. My first powerful impression was some kind of candy smell! It was so sweet and fruity, almost too much!. Then, after an hour (!) it simmered down to powdery and really pleasant, kind of flowery violet like for me. Then it gets very subtle with the dry down and is woody and ambery, that's yum to me. I feel the need to practice with this perfume. It is not the average fragrance and I am glad to have it!!! (Thanks ebay!)

I bought a group of vintage mini bottles that included one of this fragrance. The sandalwood note is really good here, and it's not too floral (I consider it unisex). If you find that niche amber fragrances are too syrupy and lack balance, yet you don't want a lot of florals or spice, this is one to try. However, I think that you should find a vintage one, because I can't imagine that this would be reformulated very well. Anyone know how to tell the difference?

This is a very nostaligic fragrance for me. A close family friend had bought it when it was out new and it forever will remind me of those times. I was in my early early teens back then and would cut out images of Claudia Shiffer and Cindy Crawford from Revlon campaigns and scrapbook then. So...based on that I have very postive feeling associated with this fragrance. It is strong but in such a lovely way. This fragrance is sophisticated to my layman's nose.

I found a near-empty bottle of Unforgettable at an estate sale. One whiff and I was hooked. A must-have for my fragrance wardrobe! Warm and comforting, a spicy amber scent that, when warn with restraint, adds a subtle, but noticeable air of confidence and mystery to the wearer. Reminds me of Joop! Femme but not quite as tenacious. I don't get the floral notes, but that may have to do with the vintage bottle I found. Delicious!

Don't know if anyone is interested but a few bottles of this have turned up at a pharmacy in Camden Australia. It seems to be new and shows the South African revlon website address on the back. I'm wondering if they are bringing this one back. Seems identical to how I remember it with great show stopping sillage and longevity so I'm of the opinion that it's genuine. Warm, deep and heady. Oh the memories...

I used to wear this in the nineties, loved it and a co-worker of mine loved it as well. When I bought my second bottle I bought one for her as well. She was thrilled but brought it back to me and said it stunk on her, she was so disappointed. I was disappointed as well, but a little self satisfied too. How often something smells wonderful on someone else but not so wonderful on me......

i remember this perfume but at the time avon sold it, bc my sister used it all the time and i loved the smell, i have been trying to find it again for myself, i will never forget the smell, i am hoping this is the same fragrance though bc everything has to change and never stays as it use to be, it says revlon but i know for a fact it was from avon,

I get a honeycomb element in this. On me it might be too old, like its a thick smell. Not unpleasant, definitely warm and rich. Not bad for the price here, don't know how easy it is to find now though. I had to order one, the tester was probably old ish, but I still liked it. I think I either have it tucked away, or gave it away.

I'm still clinging to my bottle of this that was reintroduced with Halle Berry when she was doing the James Bond movie. I still love the scent of this and I have a couple sprays left but I never use them. Too afraid. And yeah can't find it anywhere at all. Sad.

Niche quality of the blend. Think Sonoma Studio type of fragrance or Penhaligon's. Aromatic, deep amber, tamed musk, sensual mix of jasmine and orris root, earthy, feminine and instantly likeable. I never wore it, yet it makes me feel nostalgic. Need a bottle.

I don’t know why they discontinued it I loved the the most. I have the very old one from the 80s still just a little bit left I love it still I’m so lucky to have some. Or many people have this Purfime. It reminds me of when life was the best times

I love love love this perfume. It really works well on my skin and lasts such a long time. I think the sandalwood dry down is quite beautiful. Not too overpowering but just right. Im looking to have this in my collection verrrry soon. :)

Hi Rhemay Hi Simone i actually found the original vintage version of Loreal Unforgettable on Ebay along with cosmetic bag and lipstick/nailpolish. I think it cost around 80 dollars. I hope this helps
