Xia Xiang

Ha! Haaaa! Scored a bottle off Ebay! Yes! This brings back so many wonderful memories of people who wore this and places I visited (while wearing this). I also found a company (online) who recreates discontinued fragrances! This one is on their very lengthy list of options! The company is called Scentmatchers.com. Just google them. I emailed them and they are up and running! *Please note I have not ordered from them, yet. I wanted to receive this bottle first to compare. Surprisingly, I scored a sealed bottle still in the original packaging and the fragrance is still on point. There are now calls for Revlon to reinstate some of their classic fragrances and this definitely made the list! Xia Xiang can be worn every season. Due to some of the richer notes, I'd opt for; weekends/holidays, evenings and church. I would avoid extreme heat (outdoor weather), due to some of the sweeter notes in this perfume. However, you could wear this in an air conditioned setting.

Great... thanks to Fragrantica, I have yet another discontinued lovely to ache for, until it is mine again! I had forgotten this one, and I actually feel terrible about that... I wore it quite a bit in my teens, and I can smell it strong as ever just from memory. The adjectives that come to mind are warm, soft, sweet, powdery. It felt "young", but not juvenile. Often, powdery scents can go kind of "church lady" on me (nothing wrong with church ladies, I just don't necessarily want to smell like them, haha)This one did not. This powdery went the way of fuzzy sweater/ kitten fur. The vanilla was just present enough to make it warm, but not at all gourmand. I remember it smelling "pink"... but not in a rose or peony or cupcake way... maybe jasmine did it? I'm not sure about that, but I am sure that my husband will be coughing up $30 for .8 ounces on ebay, very soon. How in the world am I going to break this to him... ;)

What a gorgeous fragrance, and what a pity it has been discontinued! This made me a "Xia Xiang hunter", always looking for more bottles to join the ones I have. By the way, it is amazing that they still smell great after all this time! I keep them in a cool and dark place and the fragrance is still wonderful, even though I cannot detect much citrus anymore (I am not a citrus lover so I do not really mind)... the warm flowery heart, the beautiful chamomile and oakmoss are still there for me to enjoy... It's a shame that fragrances like this one are no longer produced and the market now seems to be focused on candyfloss/caramel perfumes.

I wore this perfume when it was launched in the late '80s and have such fond memories that I recently purchased an un-opened and sealed bottle off of ebay. I could immediately suss out that the top notes (amalfi lemon and tangerine) have turned, as citrus tends to do (and I mean, it HAS been 26 years!). Gradually the dry-down produced the familiar powdery oriental smell that I remember, but I do miss that initial citrusy spritz. Is it wearable? I can't really tell yet; I think I'm too afraid to commit to putting it on for a full day's wear, especially in hot weather, and especially because it's a bit sweet.

This was such a beautiful scent. One if the most beautiful powdery orientals. It was a very special perfume to me. I had the gift set perfume and dusting powder with a gorgeous dusting brush. It really looked lovely on a vanity with powder puffs and powder jar, the whole works. My Grandmother and I had the same taste in perfume so I bought her a bottle and she loved it. Ahhh, memories. I always thought this perfume could have came out in the 20's era, it makes me think of Claudette Colbert in Cleopatra. Exotic. Powdery. Oriental. Spicy. Makes me want to purchase it again.;)

This was by far my favorite Revlon fragrance! It was just heavenly, one of the first oriental florals I just fell in love with & swore by. I would still love to have it again. I remember the ylang-ylang really came out on me & I loved it. I wore it for years. It was similar to a spicy Anais Anais, if you can imagine that. And it lasted longer on me than AA. For boardbat, if I am remembering the pronunciation right, it was like "SEE-AHH SEE-ANGH", excusing my southern sccent!

This was my scent back in the day. I worked as a secretary in the Sydney CBD and women and men would comment on this perfume All the time. I would be asked what it was and where to get. I must confess, sometimes I’d make up that it was an exotic scent I had made up while in Paris, not a chemist bought perfume under $10. I wish I could find something the same or better yet, Revlon start making it again. Ps...Visited Paris for real at 52😂

Xia Xiang is what started my fragrance journey My Mum had it when I was very little & I used to obsess over it's beautiful bottle & always beg for my Mum to let me hold the bottle & wear some Sadly one-day it fell from a high shelf & smashed on the tiles, Mum & I were right near by & couldn't figure out how it fell, no wind gust or anything but for months our house smelled incredible especially when it warmed up

I use to wear all the time when it first came out. And, had several bottles before changing up. Another I wish I would have stocked up on. All the family kids used to cuddle to me and say, oooo you smell so good. And, that's about the only thing I can remember. At that time it was considered very sultry, an oriental.

my mom wore this and i used to sneak wearing it to school when i was like 10! I loved it too. I recently bought a little bottle on ebay for my mom to pay her back but it did not smell the same. Great scent, very mesmerizing to me.

I really loved this in the mid eighties. It would be fantastic to see a reboot. I often wonder if I would love it as much now. They had a cute canister of golden bath beads that were beautiful. Miss it so.

Xia Xiang has wonderful staying power and great silage. I adore Revlon for making this sexy scent. It competes with my much higher end scents by far.. 100/100

Oh why did they stop this one it was amazing i really loved it. Very different from I wear now. Revlon please bring it back!!!!

A green blast like galbanum, then sweetly balsamic. I like it very much.

After a few years of hunting this down I finally scored a sealed bottle in original packaging. It was worth the wait! If you like the big oriental hitters from the 1980s you will love this! I have a soft spot for Revlon Ajee and although this isn’t as stunning as that it could be seen as its little sister. This has a beautiful incense quality to it which rather than south east Asia reminds me of Moroccan souks or Catholic Churches with undertones of leather and tobacco. I only have one gripe and that is I would prefer it stronger. Saying that on me the perfume evolved beautifully, so many layers. I’d say this is a perfect scent for autumn I don’t remember this perfume in the UK at the time which is odd as I was already on my perfume journey when it came out.

I guess I am one of ladies here who love this perfume since it was launched and used it until Revlon stopped making it. I love the bottle and Ad print photo, too. I guess the name means nostalgic so the ad photo really fits it. BTW, I also love the smell of Revlon facial cream Eterna 27, which is at the verge of extinction. Of course, I am using this cream for a facial care for a good reason but the scent is an added bonus to me. I think Revlon is very good at making Oriental-Spicy perfumes which smell much more expensive than the prices. Other good examples are Charlie Oriental, Ciara.

It has all the appeal of a vintage perfume (as already stated by many), but something I can smell (that I'm not sure others are perceiving) is a roasted oolong tea note. It's subtly blended in with all the other notes, but it's a really great touch if you can pick up on it. Just wish it was listed on the note pyramid. Tested on skin from a vintage flacon.

Another nice cheapie from the late 80's. Lovely floriental and not overly spicy.

it has been a long time since i've smelt this...however i can say i'm not a fan.apart from the difficult to pronounce name,it also made many around me request i never wear it again in their company lol

Revlon's most beautiful Oriental. Xia Xiang (not cha-ching because they did not do this to make money but to make a great work of art) is a Chinese garden. This starts off fresh and energetic with citrus namely lemons and tangerine. Normally I dislike citrus but they are always at the top for so many frags that I'm now accustomed to it and don't mind it. After all it goes away as the fragrance begins to kick in. Once Xia Xing starts to play it's Chinese music it's a flowery beauty. It reminds me of a Chinese Empress in Imperial China. She hardly sees her husband because at that time the women were segregated from the men and lived in communities where they did "women's work" which meant they cooked, cleaned and made clothing out of looms, weaving and sewing clothing and tapestries. This is a lovely tapestry of colors and scents. The floral heart is so romantic and beautiful. To my nose the rose is the subtle little mastermind behind the scent. It's clearly there but it appears and disappears from time to time allowing time for other flowers to dance. It's like Geisha girls dancing in kimonos and fans. There is jasmine, African Orange Flower, gardenia lily of the valley and ylang-ylang. The jasmine gives it that Oriental touch. They dance and dance and you're in Heaven just smelling these flowers. When the fragrance begins to dry down and leave it's floral side it becomes green and woodsy. It has sandalwood and patchouli but they are really not as heavy as one would imagine. Someone said that this scent is reminiscent of Clinique Aromatics Elixir but to me it's not at all like it. The fruit notes stand out even at the end. It smells of delicious peach and plum plus there is vanilla. This is a fruity floral chypre but it's not as intense as other chypres. There is an over 8 hour longevity and lots of sillage so maybe that's why others think it's like Aromatic Elixir. This is not a perfume you have to douse yourself with. It's a one spritz and that's it type of fragrance. Very beautiful. It was the fragrance I bought in Hong Kong during a trip there. It always takes me to Hong Kong. I see the harbor and the Chinese sailboats. So beautiful. This is probably the only Revlon fragrance I wear and like. I have not invested too much of my money on Revlon. I will have to try out their other stuff.
