The Bottle I am reviewing is over 15 years old. So we can say it has matured considerably well. I got this perfume from a grey market guy way back. I still buy from those guys. I got a bunch of stuff he handed me over the counter of a van and went on my merry way. It's a strange way to buy stuff but I still own and love a few of those bottles. No regrets. Insurrection smells like gentleman's Vanilla and it used to have a bit of a smoky top note. I used to call it my vanilla smoke and wear it for date night or a special occasion. The underlying notes are old school masculin and that's what anchors the classy part of it. The notes listed here are so generic for such a near perfect men's vanilla fragrance. It's a warm enveloping scent. There's a note that's akin to dry saliva on a microphone (you try describing scents with limited knowledge of chemistry).An animalic type of sharp honey note. Its a dry woodiness that's never overstepping the vanilla. It's powdery Vanilla and amber with a honey note (thats my saliva microphone thing) One guy below was right with cocaine. This is addictive stuff but I wouldn't drive this daily. It's classic and refined. It's sultry and sensuous. It's James Bond coming in to whisper in her ear so very intimately. I can say it matures well. No compromised notes although I recall it having a smoky haze to it that has evolved into a smooth velvet vanilla masculine elixir. Blended with all the currently favorite components in today's market (vanilla, amber, powder, wood, spice, with the exception of no citrus), you've smelled all this before, but probably not at a $21 price point and not with this staying power. As a marketing guy I cringe at the maker's use of complex, unattractive, cheap-looking but nevertheless cost-loading packaging that is actually off-putting and provides no value for the consumer. In my career, I've watched many companies underperform because they fail on these basics. Yet, though their marketing people are clearly incompetent, their perfumers don't fail in the chemistry department. You know it projects when everyone around you is saying they love how you smell and want to know what you're wearing. As a result of such enthusiasm, I have put the rest of the Reyane Tradition line on next month's purchasing schedule. If you go in for vanilla forward scents like Givenchy Pi, MFK Grand Soir, Micallef Vanilla Oud, Mancera Aoud Vanille, Maison De Darius Notorieta, Akro Bake, this perfumer will more than earn your money with this scent, IMO a 100% safe blind buy sure to delight. Great on its own, it's nevertheless very simple, so I played around with layering this with citrus, green and marine scents and for this purpose it absolutely kills. I layered this with Swiss Arabian's Raaqi and the crowd went wild.

this perfume reminds me of when i wasn't really into perfumery at all. I grew up on the basic like Chanel, Tom Ford, Dior, Muglar, etc. after coming back home after weeks in boot camp my mom got me the 1 million perfume which was my signature scent since i was 10 till 19. and bought me this beauty here, which was my my most beloved from 18-19 i wore it a lot. words can't describe the feeling this and the 1 million perfume gives. my most beloved. I just had to write this down to remember how, i always loved these "simple perfumes" which i don't think they are at all. I miss the days when i wore them no care, of the silage or longevity and all that bullshit. Now I'm just a monster, flashy snobby asshole, always trying to find the most vile smells and the most challenging and the ones to suffocate everyone in the city. its when i wear perfumes i ask myself do i wear it for me or people to be noticed or complimented or to paint a picture in there heads, which if you know me that not me at all i grew give no fucks about anyone opinion or what they think of me unless its good of course, but anyways this ain't me for real. so now I'm going back to my slut bug perfumes. as in these gourmand vanilla tobacco with rum chocolate diabetes all that ish. I'm coming home to what i really love what aligns with my motto, and what makes me happy you feel me.

Love this one! There are very few simply vanilla men's fragrances. This one says it has other notes but really it's just a straight forward vanilla. Its not overly sweet, thankfully, because there are plenty of sweet vanilla perfumes out there to choose from that most guys won't be comfortable with. In the same vein as Perri Ellis Black Vanilla Absolute in that they are all nice vanilla scents, haven't been overly sweetened or had other strange notes thrown in to make it more interesting, and are accessible to most men. No boozy effect like BVA but, again, does vanilla perfectly. This one is just great! The bottle has a unique lock mechanism and all Reyane Tradition products seem to come in packaging that shames bigger companies. I like (men's!!!) vanilla fragrance and this one is awesome. I'll be ordering another bottle or 3 just to make sure I have some if it happens to get discontinued. Like it that much. On another note, could women wear this? Absolutely. If you prefer a vanilla that isn't on the sweet side you may love it as well.

I fell in love with this fragrance 20 yrs ago as a kid, exploring different cologne in the mall for under $25. It's cheap, smells great, projects well, and bottle is cool!! Very powdery so the gals love to sneak and wear this too but in no way smells feminine. I get a strong vanilla, powder, and light wood scent that's golden like the juice, very soft. A cool-cold weather gem that can be worn all year around but feels warm and smells great enough to remember forever. 8/10 -- overall made for anyone any age, old-school yet legendary. Sexy and soft but built for a well-groomed man, similar to a Givenchy Pi but more attractive and less invasive. Still hints to cheap and synthetic as I would expect for the price.

It's looking very wintery and cold outside with the onset of darkness approaching fast. You've just locked all the doors. You're wearing your favourite woolly jumper, set your clocks forward while the fireplace is looking enchanting with the glow and sparkling light that's reflecting, radiating and setting the mood for a relaxing evening indoors with a loved one, all is needed is two spritz of Reyane Tradition Insurrection and the evening is yours. A real mood setter. Quite addictive. Cosey and comforting. Suited for fall ( autumn ) mostly. Not very versatile but glad I have a bottle. This one for me is not about scoring, just enjoying when the mood is right or to set the mood, 5 stars for that! :)

About the best bang for your buck you're gonna get if you like sweet vanilla scents. I got it because my best friend who passed away used to wear it, and maybe part of it is the sentimentality of it, but it's just such an easy scent to like. It's definitely sweet but not sickeningly so. Inviting like a plate of fresh baked cookies and a warm hug. It's inoffensive without being boring. I'd happily pay twice as much for this, but the price is just the cherry on top. Great any time day or night. Hot weather won't make it unpleasant and cold weather won't make it insufficient. Sometimes simplicity is king. Safest blind buy you could hope for if you like gentle sweet scents.

This stuff is so simple and good. It smells like Rochas and Michael Jordan Legend just toned down a bit. It's one of those fragrances you wished projected and lasted more like the beautiful Avon Wild Country. This stuff smells good and is definitely worth the money if you don't mind reapplying or layering with either MJ or Rochas. Another banger that I can only give a 8/10 due to projection and longevity all though coworkers did say I smelled amazing even one said edible 😳. Smooth sweet sexy vanilla with the powder and amber small sprinkle like a pinch of spice and wood. Finally no cinnamon in a gourmand thank u. Amazed this has no tonka.

Bought this for 21 on amazon (i could’ve got it cheaper i know) A-lot of vanilla and amber involved, dry down is more warm spicy than woody but quite soothing. Opening can be a headache if you spray more than 3 times, I’m layering this with my more woody and citrusy low projecting fragerence’s. Hits like a monster but smells quite nicely. Basic vanilla fragrance a beginner collector like me is worth putting into the shelfs, recommend beginner buy. Only cons is that it may have a synthetic smell to some, its bottle is so unwieldy and quite complicated, I had to figure out how to spray it properly..

Long before this house focused on doing clones this was a very original scent. This can compete with some of the more expensive Fall/Winter scents such as DHI and more known scents such as MIP and Givenchy PI. It has the lipstick vibe of DHI but has a kick of spices and a sweeter base. It smells sorta like Play-Doh. The vanilla/amber combo works great!! This is long lasting with arm's length sillage. At under 20 bucks this would make a great addition to anyone's wardrobe!

This does remind me of MJ legend in a way. It's less aggressive though. Slightly, but less aggressive. It smells soft and creamy, in a syrupy kind of way. Very sweet, not quite thallium level, but very sweet and a little powdery. I also get hints of dior home intense, maybe? Overall, solid buy. Longevity: Really good for price, I get a good six hours and I have dry skin. 8 Sillage: Surprisingly good. 7 Scent: Synthetic; not in an appealing way but overall likable. 6

I read a blog where a guy mentioned he wore this for the first time and two women in 2 different scenarios couldn't stop sniffing around him while he stood in line at a check out. I just received my bottle last week. Bang for the dollar good. I believe what i read in the blog. It's an attention getter. This house is one of fragrance worlds best bargains.

Figured I should throw in my two scents [sic] with this one, as it has been a favorite since I first got it. It's powdery vanilla, with added depth coming from the amber. Basically, this is like cocaine. I wouldn't pass it up if you're at all fond of vanilla/oriental/comforting fragrances, or if you just enjoy smelling good in general.

Idk who influenced me to buy this on tt years ago but they did, and it was my first sweet/winter fragrance I've ever had and I can happily say that it really does smell amazing and lasts. Crazy bang for $ but I got sick of it and gave it away. If you need a vanilla scent tho this is a great contender as it actually has longevity

I don't get the thallium comparison but I do smell a little mj legend however Insurrection is light and sweet and has a refined kind of vibe to it. I can't really describe it but this is a great scent to add to your collection and even in your rotation for fall or winter ! Scent A+ Silliage A Longevity A+ (8hrs +)

10/10 One of the sweetest and sexiest scents I've smelled since have idea. It remainds Givenchy Pi with that vanilla blast opening as well. Just for hanging out for dates at night and cools nights. That's it. Piece of art; hidden gem just like few ones out there. Good performance as well.

Love! Very reminiscent of Pi; BIG spicy & smoky vanilla with lightly caramelized woods carrying the scent. Major sillage, very persistent and long-lasting (10+ hrs). The locking mechanism can be a bit annoying, but the bottle design looks nice on the dresser. Perfect for autumn & winter.

"holy fuck". Thats the reaction I had when I first smelled this. Smells so good, and is at a great price point. It smells extremely close to givenchy pi. To me it smells like pancakes, or someother sweet cake, doused with maple syrup. so yummy!!

Purely powdery vanilla. There isn't much else to this fragrance and the simplicity of it makes it great for what it is. The longevity and projection is going to be there all day, every day and it might be at it's best in a colder temperatures.

warm ambery vanilla If I spray it on in the morning I can still smell it later at night when I go to bed. Its far too strong right out the box but once it dries down it warm and more feminine.

It's a Beautiful fragrance. Pure gourmand. This has vibes of MJ Legend, and I have two bottles of MJ Legend. If anyone is interested in having this then please ping me [email protected]

After a little time macerating (1mo) it had EVOLVED into a less synthetic more amber vanilla fragrance with a smell that takes on 10x the price. Very good.

Feel like you have been splashed with vanilla. Lovely scent. Longevity around 8 hours. Solid 9.5/10

This is ultra sexy. A great, cheap compliment getter for the cold weather. I own a bunch of fragrances in this category - namely, sweet, vanilla/tonka bombs. I only wear it during the winter; read: powerful. Others in the same vein (though not dups): Rochas Man (maybe it is the juice color, but I feel like Rochas has a more static, less syrupy/dense feeling to it than this one). There is also a unique note in here that reminds me of petroleum - smells chemically anyhow and is only faintly there, but this is, in my mind, what makes this smell different than other colognes in this genre. It probably comes from the very light woodiness and spice, which is what makes this feel like an aromatic cologne rather than a gourmand. Eau des Baux by L'Occitan also is in the same vein, but has much more spice to it and a more niche vibe. Michael Jordan Legend is also similar, and also with a slight chemically smell, though different from Insurrection's. Lastly, Al Rehab Choco Musk is also in this vein, although that one is straight up marshmello with vanilla that can bring some chocolate to mind, but more on the vanilla side of chocolate (mixed with Chocolate Man by Dame this smells much more chocolatey, love this combo, but low key hate Chocolate Man by itself because it smells like a weird, dry chocolate that is not quite natural -- kind of like CGI that is so close but then just slightly off and therefore grabs too much attention!). As an honorable mention, Dior Homme Intense (2012) has a similar feel. Insurrection does not have the iris and is much sweeter, but this has an uncanny ability to conjure the feel of DHI. I dig the bottle, but the top is just cheap plastic, not metal like it looks, so a slight disappointment to actually touch. The box is unique and super cool to open up (I know, who really cares about the box? Once it is out of it, I just store it away). Being sweet, this scent has great projection/longevity, much better than average, and is one that could definitely make yourself or others uncomfortable because it is so strong. I reach for this during the winter, but I tend to wear Rochas Man, Eau des Baux, or something sweet and tobacco based when I am in the mood for this type of fragrance. I hold on to it because it does have a nice scent and is slightly unique in my collection. I actually wear it more than DHI because DHI is too strong and less pleasing to others. I usually reach for Insurrection just to smell it occasionally when I look at my cologne collection deciding what to wear. Plus, this was my introduction to Reyane Tradition. I really like their Insurrection Pure line, of which I have Pure II, Wild, and Dark (sweet Aventus-like, tonka-tobacco, and tobacco cherry spice fragrances, respectively). Even though these are clones, I really like the bottles and the presentation is fabulous. OK, so what is the bottom line? Not a strong recommendation for most people to buy this fragrance if you are looking for your first wintery night fragrance; I would go with Rochas Man firstly. However, this is a must buy if you are fanatic about wintery night cheapies and you don't mind a slightly non-gourmand, non-spicy accord that is hidden in the vanilla backbone but strong enough to make the fragrance unique -- not bashing it for having a slight chemical smell - people love Farenheit, and at least my vintage bottle smells like straight up gasoline (and my sig other digs it, even though she generally hates weird/strong smells -- SMH).

Yuuup...I knew I never should have gotten rid of this one. Since it left my ownership I've been searching for the perfect Vanilla...that I USED TO HAVE. "Givenchy Pi" isn't it..."Dior Vanilla Diorama" isn't it..."P.R. Phantom" isn't it..."M-B Club Black" isn't it..."Versace Eros Flame" isn't it... I need to buy another bottle of this...asap! BOTTLE BOUGHT! We're back baby!!!! 19MAY22: It has arrived!! Ahhhh...that first spray and that familiar Floral-Dry-Vanilla hit. This is great for layering with spicier and "Bleu" fragrances. It has a really "Squeaky" smelling floral undertone to it...like it's so bright and dry that it squeaks like styrofoam when you first smell it. Its very durable however, when you sweat...it won't disappear. And humidity won't break it down or weaken it's scent bubble. I haven't been able to layer this with everything, but the fragrances that it DOES work with...it does GREAT!

I only use this for layering other colognes on top of. I hoped that it would be great on it's own...but it's just Vanilla. That's all. Super.....strong....Vanilla. And I rarely have need for just "Big Vanilla" by itself. But as stated...this is the perfect layering cologne for me, Goes perfectly with "Violet Musc" or "Violetas Francescas". I am trying to build a long-lasting version of "Burberry - Touch" with this cologne as the base...wish me luck. UPDATE: This has been superceded by "English Laundry - Oxford Bleu" and is no longer used. EL-OB is a much better layering base. 10MAY22 UPDATE: Man-oh-man...I wish I hadn't given this away. Now that I'm in LOVE with vanilla fragrances I'm left wondering if this would have layered well with all of my new awesome fragrances. I'll have to buy another bottle...soon...for testing purposes, yeah...that's the ticket!

Really not sure how i feel about this one. I can smell amber and pepper for sure with the vanilla heavy in the background. Not really a sweet vanilla. For the price its good. Its nothing exciting dull but i suppose its good for something you can just spray on and walk out. Winter/fall maybe cooler spring day This reminds me of the smell of Fondant icing on cake. Its not sweet but its got a cream vanilla smell. Ill update after more wears.. Update Day1: So surprisingly the smell has gotten clearer throughout the wear of this. I wore it around and to my surprise it smells really good so far. Vanilla period def made me crave some ice cream. Most surprising I got complemented by someone who thought I had something baking in the house. So far so good. Will update more in a couple more wears.

In my opinion this fragrance has this cosmetic/make-up bag vibe to it. For example Dior Homme Intense has this lipstick vibe to it. And this fragrance has the kind of scent of an entire bag filled with different kind of cosmetic products. At first it may come off as feminine, however the musk in it butches it up in my opinion. Again just to be clear, it doesnt smell like DHI, however the level of sweetness and type of cosmetic/make-up vibe is similar. I also find the longevity to be pretty decent, six to seven hours on my skin. The dry down lasts longer on my skin too leaving me with a sweet musky skin scent. I am quite pleasantly surprised by this fragrance. It got me very curious in trying their other fragrances.

This scent gives me evening at dinner party for promotion. I feel very soft yet masculine! I love this fragrance. I wear both men and women's fragrances and this one is very light. The powder and vanilla notes are very inviting. I reccommend this fragrace during the summer time. When the humidity mixes the notes with your body's natural scent...there is magic here. It last all day! I mean, I still have mine from like three or four years ago, and it it just now running low. Gonna get the Insurrection Iron Man soon and try that out...aswell as more Insurrection original! Good buy men!

I got this cologne few weeks ago,a blind buy based on the positive reviews on Fragrantica, after many time of using it i can say it's not that bad and it's not that good, it's generic. In the opening it smell good, vanilla, spices and woods but after an hour or more it started to smell cheap like kind of a washing powder or something like that, the dry down it's what make me disapponting and regret blind buying it. There's a lot of colognes smell better than this at same price or cost a little more higher.

I heavily overpaid for this from a mall kiosk on my first taste of freedom after boot camp YEARS ago. This is a vanilla and amber bomb - the nuances notes don't immediately come to mind as this was years ago, but I remember longevity was 2-4 hours until it was a skin scent (or you went nose blind to vanilla). It got compliments but would definitely be cloying anytime but the winter.

Well...now that I've wasted money on a full bottle of "Givenchy - PI" I can say that "Insurrection" is a DEAD RINGER for "PI"!!!! Now mind you, "Insurrection" is a colder version of "PI" but the scent profile is EXACTLY THE SAME!!! Dangit...wasted $42 on "PI" when I technically already had it and gave it away when I donated my bottle of "Insurrection"... >=[

Wearing this makes me feel like I work at a sugar cookie factory. Incredibly powerful vanilla, that's basically the only thing I smell, it's simple. If smelling like sweet ass sugar is what you want, this is 100% what you should think about purchasing.

Reyane Tradition Insurrection Eau De Toilette Spray For Men smells much like dozens of other cheapies - burnt sugar. Not much to it. I won't buy it again and wish I hadn't this time.

Safe blind buy. I Received it as a gift, originally i hated it because it was to loud. Now i enjoy the Longevity and Sillage. Beware tho It is a sweet fragrance, think mb club black!

IMO this is a very simple, light, isolated warm vanilla, scented candle/room diffuser scent that is definitely unisex.

Is a nice perfume and I will wear it more often now that I have removed the ridiculous topper.

Concentrated powdery vanilla from A to Z. Good for winter nights. Good longevity.

What I mostly get is a pleasantly powdery vanilla with a touch of amber. Borderline unisex. I don’t get much spice or wood. My bottle is brand new so I’m not sure how much this might change over time. As it stands it’s just a bit one note for it to be a love for me. Performance is extremely good. Nigh eternal, especially on fabric. If you’re looking for a simple classic fall/winter scent profile, for the price there are few better options out there.

Big expectations not confirmed at all. Nice smell but nothing groundbreaking, to my nose it's just an ambra-vanilla-incense combo not particularly up to date and a bit generic. Sadly it's a meh at the end.

It's literally a two-note cologne to my nose, pure sweet vanilla and powder. It knows what it is and executes those two notes well. It's simplicity makes it totally unisex and good for absolutely every occasion for any season and for all ages. It's very much a "less is more" case here. It's very good on its own but it's also fantastic for layering due to its simplicity. It goes amazing with "blue" freshies, floral colognes, woody colognes and Oriental/spicy colognes. For this alone, it's a high recommend. The bottle and packaging are very unique and look great on display. However, note that once you get past the cool artistic look of it, the bottle is actually quite unwieldly to use. The case is also tricky to open and I've sent the bottle flying more than once trying to get it open. The only caution to keep in mind is that it's a soft performer. Be prepared to overspray if using on its own and reapply during the day. Layering with other fragrances which I strongly encourage will help help alleviate that issue.

I'm back. ...and I've finally had the opportunity to smell (and hold) a bottle of the men's version of Reyane Tradition Presents Insurrection. The bottle is indeed a bizarre curiosity to look at, ...and also rather awkward to handle and spray, ...who'da thunk it. As for the scent, firstly, there is a strong and unlisted lavender-led aromatic accord to this scent. In fact, it's mostly that. plus vanilla, LOTS of vanilla; not amber, vanilla. So, to repeat: Lavender + Vanilla. What does that make you think of? That's right! Insurrection smells like a JPG Le Male flanker. Uh, don't ask me which one. I don't like to waste time or brain cells remembering which is which. Probably closest to Ultramale? So anyway, If you like Le Male adjacent fragrances, perhaps consider getting Insurrection instead. That way you can enjoy your tingling overdose of lavender-vanilla without any silly-looking bottle. Oh wait, ...nevermind.

I love this powdery, vanilla powerhouse. I finally used up a bottle I have had for about 20yrs (400+ fragrances to choose from). This has always been a friendly, warm, cozy scent. When I first bought it from a kiosk the seller said it was like Angel. I was disappointed at first but always received compliments and grew to love it. This is a unisex fragrance, it doesn't lean masc or fem, just a nice neutral scent. It lasts forever with great longevity and it's inexpensive. Glad I have a backup bottle. Try some of these frags from this house, they aren't too shabby. Hell, most of this house smell a lot better than what designers have put out over the years. Happy Sniffing

Blind buy and wow. Absolutely delicious! Prior to this my favorite Vanilla cheapie was Oud Vanille by Franck Olivier, but that also adds spice whereas this is a clean soapy warm soft Vanilla bomb. Paris Hilton Gold Rush Man is another great cheapie but Vanilla shares the spotlight with Amber and a notch down in quality. With this the spotlight is on Vanilla. But as many of said, I explored using this as a layer - and placed Boss The Scent on top! Wow wow wow, fantastic! If you have or buy this, explore something warm & spicy or leather on top.

Sweet vanilla. It would be more complete with some added notes to give it more depth. For example, it's compared to Givenchy Pi above. But, it doesn't have the notes (like Orange, Anise, Almond, etc.) that make Pi a more rounded fragrance. Insurrection is just sweet vanilla with a bit of amber. Dry down is powdery. Good performance. Could be unisex, but leans male. It's actually a decent fragrance for the price, if you like super sweet.

I picked this one up because someone told me they thought it was like Givenchy Pi but bigger and bolder. It’s not. If you love a honey top note, this has that, but it does as one other reviewer said call to mind spittle on a metal microphone, and it makes me nauseous. Ick. About twenty minutes in, that fades away and it starts smelling like a bad clone of Ultra Mâle. I don’t like Ultra Mâle, so I wasn’t super fond of this.
