Rock Lobster

Rock Lobster seems to me a spectacular perfume. It is one of the most unique and original gourmand perfumes I have been able to try in recent times. As other users say, it is characterized by its effervescent character, which almost seems to bubble on the skin at the moment of application. This, combined with the olfactory notes, creates a very realistic effect that reminds of the aroma of a freshly opened cherry cola. But it doesn't stop there; the rhubarb in the middle notes slightly acidifies the composition, preventing it from being excessively sweet, and even giving it a certain earthy character, with a scent that can somewhat resemble beetroot. The best part of all is the base, which can be noticed from the very beginning. There we find that strange note of crustaceans that, although it may seem odd, is really real. It's not like you're going to go around smelling like fish, far from it, but it is a salty and slightly marine touch that, to me, strongly recalls the aroma of angostura used to flavor some cocktails. The caramel and benzoin create an amber and sweet base that accompanies you throughout the whole day (applied at 8 in the morning, I could still feel it on my skin at 11 at night) and the ambergris reinforces that marine, salty, and even a bit dirty point, in a good way. As for the projection, it is quite moderate. Medium leaning towards strong for a couple of hours and then dropping to a medium-low projection for quite some time, creating a very pleasant and peculiar personal bubble, and settling as a skin scent towards the end of its development. Such an interesting fragrance! First whiff is bubbly and effervescent. I get brine-y ocean notes but it's not fish-y. The cola smell comes through as root beer to me, likely because of the rhubarb. The cherry is subtle. It feels like you're sipping a fountain soda at a beach-side restaurant, ocean air breezing through. The crustacean/lobster is definitely there but it isn't out of place. Very bizarre concept and I believe it was done well. I am happy I was able to get a small decant of this weird little fragrance!

I'm skipping to the most interesting part... Does it have hints of lobster? No, not really. Especially not in a photo realistic way. Does it smell like something that might remind you of lobster? Yes, there is a bit of ocean smell from the ambergris I assume. Does it smell like those red lobster gummies or hard candies you at souvenir store? Yes!!! Could you conjure a scene of eating seafood on the boardwalk while smelling it? Yes, definitely. Was this a fun little adventure to test? Yes. Do I want to smell like red dye #40 candy? No, absolutely not.

I wasn’t expecting to get the crustacean note up front, but it was the first thing I smelled from the vial and test strip and was still dominant when I smelled the strip again after letting it sit for several hours. It’s not overtly “fishy,” more of a briny saltwater smell, but it made me nauseous and was difficult to ignore while I was trying to detect the other notes. I’ll give it another chance on skin instead and edit if I smell anything new but I’m nervous I’ll have to scrub it. I knew this was a possibility, it’s one of the listed notes, I just thought it might be more subtle instead of immediately dominant to my nose.

to be honest I was so excited to try this fragrance I got my hands on a sample yesterday and I was extremely disappointed it is just so headache inducing for me, it smells like kids strawberry chapstick and cheap plastic toys to me?? I can confidently it is the most artificial fragrance I've tried so far unfortunately, maybe my nose is too juvenile but does not work for me at all.

Review 33 "Khlav Kalash Simpson's Vendor's Crab Juice" A cherry coke open, cannot smell lobster at all. I used to pull up lobster traps on a boat, I had three of them. Lobster is my favorite food. I live across from the ocean and beach. Everything about this scent is disappointing. Not a marine scent to me at all. 90s vibe, plastic feel, too synth. This is what I imagine the khlav kalash vender cart smells like. I gave this 2 chances, both were disappointments. Artistic perfumery done right, this is a nostalgic perfume that smells like being in a resort or a crab shack on the beach eating lobster and drinking coca cola, the crustaceans note is definetely there but is in no way fishy or disgusting. Quite comforting.

I speak for everyone when I say we ALL need this.
