Tonka Nutmeg

I was skeptical about this one. So I bought a sample before jumping headfirst into a full bottle. Initially, the fragrance didn’t blow me away. I felt it was good, but not earth shattering. It’s a unique scent, but somehow manages to include enough strands of familiarity so it doesn’t come across as weird or unnatural to your nose. It REALLY began to grow on me after wearing it a few times. By the end of the week, I was hooked and found myself craving it. Once I used up the sample, I eagerly pulled the trigger on the full bottle. Shoutout to Krystal Fragrance for taking such good care of me ;-) Fast forward to today. I’ve been wearing it on and off for about a month now, and at this point, the fragrance has made a huge positive imprint on me and the Mrs. as well. Whenever I wear it she tells me “you’re smelling so yummy”. Have you ever remembered a smell so well that you can almost literally smell it, even when you’re not wearing it? Yeah, it’s one of those... Then, when you actually spray it, you get a beautiful fragrance buzz. Almost like a shot of caffeine or sugar hitting your system. INTOXICATING is the best way to describe it. It’s fresh, but also deep and dark at the same time. It’s kinda hard to describe it specifically. Sort of like Prada L’homme Intense, but deeper, and with the added smell of Irish Spring soap somewhere in there. I fell in love with it, and can testify. It’s clean smelling, sexy, mysterious, strong performing, and leaves a lasting imprint. A very pleasant fragrance, yet at the same time, unique. I suggest getting a sample first if possible. Because it’s not something I’d necessarily classify as mass appealing. One caveat, it’s fresher than I expected, with a name like Tonka Nutmeg, I thought it would’ve went a different direction. Kind of reminds me of how they did with Vanilla Tobacco. That one was fresher than expected as well. However, I really like that one from them too! This indie house has definitely made me into a fan. Longevity 9/10 Projection 10/10 Sillage 10/10 Uniqueness 9/10 Sex Appeal 10/10 Update: the freshness is what makes this fragrance such a masterpiece. It’s what makes it more versatile. Apologies for the super long review. But it takes me on such an amazing journey whenever I wear it. It deserves the chef’s kiss for real!

Tonka Nutmeg, like most of other offerings from this house is a perfume that packs a punch. This perfume projects strongly with stellar longevity. So if you love perfume with good performance Tonka Nutmeg is a good contender. As for the scent, this is an aromatic tonka scent, and the tonka here is nutty and is not sweet, and the spices are always there accompanying the tonka, creating a spicy cloud to elevate the almondish nature of the tonka. This is a wonderful scent, and I think there aren't that many perfumes that are built like this.

I’m in love with this fragrance. It seems not many people know about it. I’m a fragrance addict, and I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite fragrances in my entire collection. I’m planning to purchase a few more bottles because I don’t want to ever run out of it.

One of my fave in this line. I got a present from a friend. Longlasting with deep dark styling a bit. I enjoyed wearing it so far. The smell is quite unique and has character for the wearer.

First Impression: I just received my bottle and sprayed a few on my hand. And I am surprised because it's not as strong as I had thought it would be. It's not weak either though. It's a nice mid-projection. At first I got more of the powdery nutmeg but thay has quickly died off to give way to the tonka. And I'm a tonka fanatic! So naturally I am really feeling this. I do have Tom Ford Noir Extreme in my collection as well and I can assure you that yes these are absolutely similar. I may enjoy this one more though, so far. To me, this is a Unisex fragrance, not leaning one way more than the other. It's well-rounded and nothing challenging, but you have to enjoy some spices in your fragrances. Powdered Spices+Tonka is what you get. Their bottles are cute and different, certainly not my favorite but it does give off a vibe with the wrapped hemp rope (not positive it is hemp but it looks like it). This is enjoyable. I will come back later with more update on longevity and feelings after giving some full wear tests. Happy I have it, but not thrilled.

Thanks to Anne Lauren on YT, I purchased a sample. I'm SO TORN about this one. Yes, it opens up really sharp, leaning astringent but not quite (there are so many peppery notes!) Then you catch the saffron/tonka/vanilla and are finally introduced to the sweetness. IMO this one is a toughy to pull off. If I caught a whiff of this on someone, I'd be intrigued at the very least.

I can definitely see the resemblance to TF Noir Extreme, and could be a cousin to PR 1 Million. Somehow fresh and spice-y and a little powdery. Not a bad scent but it is definitely more masculine. I definitely smell the saffron in there.

@franc1sCygnus was spot on in this review. My initial thought was that this smelled like Versace Eros EDP. I’m not familiar with too many men’s colognes because I mostly test feminine fragrances, but my brother in law wears Eros and my first thought was that this smelled like what he wears. It also needs to be said that I don’t particularly love Eros. I do think this is more unique and a little sharper. This fragrance is too masculine for me to want to wear, and maybe a little too strong too. But if you’re looking for a masculine fragrance with longevity this might be worth testing.

Unexpected Gem! Upon the initial whiff, I couldn't help but think, "Wait a sec... is this supposed to be a dupe for Versace Eros EDP?" Or is it really just me??? Idk why but the resemblance was uncanny, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had stumbled upon a hidden gem that could rival one of my all-time favorites. As a former Eros EDP junkie (NPC scent ik) I must admit that this fragrance brought back memories of my go-to night scent for an entire year. The familiar notes, the warmth, and the boldness were all there, but with a unique twist. It's like meeting an old friend with a fresh perspective – comforting yet exciting. To make things even more interesting, I discovered that Rirana is a Malaysian brand – my own country! It's like finding a treasure in your backyard. Made a conscious decision to steer away from Eros EDP in 2022 because...well you know. However, my recent encounter with this fella has brought me back to the allure of Eros, albeit in a new form and is perfectly unisex, perhaps leaning a bit feminine which I personally like. The fragrance opens with a burst of nutmeg, offering a quite spicy and invigorating start. As it settles, the tonka and vanilla (pretty loud vanilla actually) takes center stage, providing a creamy sweetness that harmonizes beautifully with the lingering nutmeg. The overall composition is rich, warm, and is slightly less 'sharp' compare to Eros, but still undeniably seductive. What sets Tonka Nutmeg apart is its versatility. While reminiscent of Versace Eros EDP, it manages to carve out its own identity. Longevity is commendable, and the silage is pretty strong (I did 4 sprays) – not overpowering but leaving a subtle trail. My conclusion, this fella has earned its place in my fragrance collection as a versatile and captivating scent. Whether you're a fan of Versace Eros EDP (but steering away from smelling like an NPC) or on the lookout for a distinctive fragrance from a local brand, This is a MUST-TRY. It's a delightful surprise that has reignited my love for something like nutmeg - vanilla type scent, and proving that sometimes the best discoveries are found close to home.

This is definitely a performance beast. My skin stays shiny wherever I spray it for a long time. It’s rare that I can visibly see the oils for a long period of time. Be careful spraying your clothes with this one! This is too masculine for me. Fresh and spicy is right. It almost leans medicinal when I take a deep breath.

Far too green and peppery for my tastes. Like if baby pinecones and pine needles were mixed together in a vat of dessert spices and made into some type of exotic treat. Uncanny, but not quite offensive. Just not for me. I much prefer Noir Extreme.

Gorgeous...just gorgeous. Fresh and very spicy nutmeg opening but then extremely smooth and slightly powdery. Husband loves it, well priced for such a high quality, lasting scent!
