Emeralds of Atlantis

I'll give my honest opinion. I'm extremely critical when it comes to perfumes, and my expectations for this fragrance were incredibly high, yet it still managed to exceed them. This fragrance is the dreamlike embodiment of a journey to the depths of the ocean in search of the legendary lost city of Atlantis. It's as if there were a region of the sea made of fresh, crystal-clear, gently salted waters. Instead of ruins, you discover a living city, surrounded by the world's finest apple and melon orchards, with patches of moss, seaweed, and delicate water lilies adorning its architecture. The presentation deserves special recognition. The box resembles an ancient treasure chest in a vibrant cyan shade with golden accents, while the bottle—also shaped like a chest—is crafted from emerald-green glass with an aged gold finish. Inside, where the fragrance rests, there is an antique nautical map featuring maritime routes and a beautiful compass rose in a lighter cyan hue, reinforcing the entire theme of the fragrance. The opening is exceptionally clean and almost completely linear. Cantaloupe melon, traditional melon, and, above all, Granny Smith apple deliver a fruity, juicy, and refreshing aroma. The pear and plum simply reinforce the fragrance's fruity accord without stealing the spotlight. The aquatic notes emerge shortly afterward, accompanied by a subtle salty touch provided by the salt and seaweed. The water lily shines at the heart of the fragrance, bringing a delicate and luminous floral character. Meanwhile, the oakmoss merely supports a discreet sense of mystery from the ocean depths. The incense... regrettably, it never even got called onto the stage. The base genuinely surprised me. Despite containing amber, musk, and cedar—notes that typically provide a perfume's longevity—they appear in a remarkably restrained way, especially the cedar. The amber and musk evoke the feeling of sun-warmed skin, as though rays of light were piercing through the ocean and reaching its floor. The true protagonist, however, is the sugar, which ties the entire fragrance together and makes the fruits feel even juicier, sweeter, and fresher. The projection and longevity were among the few aspects that disappointed me. It lasts between 3 and 5 hours and quickly settles close to the skin, although during the first few minutes it scents the surrounding area very well. Given the concept, I expected a more marine and salty fragrance, but the fruity side ends up sharing the spotlight with those facets. The atomizer is also rather weak and doesn't distribute the fragrance as effectively as it could. It's a pragmatic, youthful, clean, elegant, and perfectly balanced sweet fragrance. Perfect for warm spring and summer days. In colder weather it loses a considerable amount of its presence, but on the other hand, I didn't encounter a single discordant note throughout its evolution. And although it shares the same olfactory pyramid as Odyssey BA HA MAS by Armaf, the distribution of its notes and its main accords result in a distinctly different olfactory experience. It deserves a solid 9.7/10.
