Poème d'Azar

This is a very pleasant and comforting perfume, well suited for bedtime or relaxing on a quiet, cozy, meditative day. It is not a very complex or particularly balanced perfume, but it is addictive. It consists primarily of powdery tonka and orris blended with vanilla and almond milk, with a bit of black currant running through, and a hint of pomegranate in a woody base. The woody base note really should be included in the pyramid, as the pencil-shavings ISO-e is very present, throughout. Rose is only lightly detectable and the patchouli isn't that noticeable. I actually wish I got more of the rose, and I yearn for more tart pomegranate and fruitiness. Overall, I get a woody pulpy, pudding-like, powdery, cozy vibe from this, with a bit of black currant, which is really nice. I don’t know who voted Poison Girl as a smells-like, because this is not a sugary sweet cotton candy scent at all, and does not resemble PG. This is more of a relaxed and powdery, ambery personal scent with a pudding like vibe that brings Noir Pour Femme more to mind, because they share certain elements (though not all). To answer the question that one of the reviewers posed below, this blue bottle is the older style bottle, which is the version I have and have somewhat reluctantly put on my swap list, as my collection has grown quite large. I’ll try to get to a store to compare the newer version in the transparent green bottle to see if there were any changes.

Mmmmm...this is a lovely fragrance. I was so intrigued when I saw the article posted about this new perfume from Rituals. As someone with a Persian heritage, I just had to have it! It's not every day that a perfume is created and centered around an ancient and still popular celebration of the longest night of the year: Yalda, the winter solstice. The name of the perfume refers to the day/night Yalda is celebrated, which is the last day of the month of Azar in the Persian calendar. This is a warm, enveloping scent, with lovely powdery and fruity overtones. The pomegranate (traditionally eaten during Yalda) and the black currant are interwoven with a soft, slightly spicy/earthy/powdery background of orris, tonka and patchouli, while almond lends a subtle nuttiness to the composition. I can also detect the Rose and vanilla playing in the background, giving this a bit of sweetness, along with the fruits. This is a perfectly cozy scent for the colder months. I'm so glad I purchased this; a very successful blind buy. The presentation and packaging are also gorgeous; with the crimson red mimicking perfectly the juicy sweet pomegranate and the deep cobalt blue symbolizing the deep, dark night of winter. LOVE!

This perfume wowed me, i had this but i ran out of it quickly then it was discontiued which im very sad about because the blend is so comforting to me, at my rituals store where i live they had a discount sale where they got old stock that they needed to get rid of and oh how lucky I was when i saw the bottle of this perfume, I was like is... is that the Poeme d'Azar. I instanly bought two travel sized perfumes of 30ml because they didnt have full size bottles of them anymore. Any way i am so happy i found it again and got to repurchace before they completly ran out of it, I wil forever keep this on my shelf and wear it for special occations. P.S. I hope they bring this back one time

I absolutely love this. Just perfect for cold weather. It's warm, soft spicy, sweet, slightly powdery with a nice fruity nuance. The sillage is more soft to moderate, but it's just right for this kind of scent. And the longevity is fantastic. I tested it at around 10 in the morning and I could still get whiffs of it at 18. I ended up buying it today as I was very impressed!

I’ve had two bottles of this one and I remember that the first one was sooo much better. Richer, in both smell and performance. Perhaps it was reformulated, or I just remember it differently. I’ll have to go and test again soon. My favourite rituals perfume anyway :) 8.5/10 good fragrance and plus points for being such a cheapie.

To me this is tonka, almond and orris - with a gentle, sweet, fresh floral background. Softly spicy, warm, comforting. Very feminine. Perfect for fall and winter if you don't wan't something too heavy. Long lasting and soft projection.

Creamy beautiful scent, feels cozy and very pleasant in winter. I bought it years ago and I always come back to it in this time of the year. It is a loved member of my perfume collection.

the juice of poeme d'azar is a nice and well blended (almost too well blended) mix of almond milk and tonka with hints of orris and pomegranate. the tonka and orris keeps it slightly powdery, while the pomegranate gives it a hint of fruityness and the almond milk keeps it sweet. safe, inoffensive, cozy, but not necessarily boring if you love those notes. this is a really good cheapie for one of those (sounds a bit boring but hear me out) days where you just want to smell nice but not necessarily noticed, because this doesnt have the biggest sillage, but it has good longevity. tbh it doesnt give me fragrance vibes, but more of a cozy, mild and soft scented candle vibe, or like a laundry product. definitely not a must, but if you love tonka and almond milk/blossom like i do, then try it i care a lot about the look of my bottles, and the presentation for this is STUNNING - it has an amazing sprayer and a good wooden cap + it comes with a gorgeous box with a mixed green color palette the pic for this on fragrantica isnt accurate, its more of a transparent green bottle.

There's no vanilla in here, or I don't get it... It's tonka bean, iris and pomegranate. Really lovely, I wouldn't say it's fruity though, really a fresh oriental floral. Not too sweet, but really complex, the notes develop slowly - as all rituals perfumes do ! -, it's veryyy well blended, slightly spicy, and once again super original. Rituals really have unique perfumes. I feel like this sits quite close to skin, but then again when i spray it on my house it stays looong even with the windows open. I'd say it works better during spring or summer, a bit too fresh for winter and the sweetness of it just goes better as the skin warms up. It's lovely. Not a safe blind buy, as it's super well blended, but it's nice and inoffensive. A like for me.

This was an instant love for me. I first tested it om paper, then on skin and went home with one of those mini bottles. Unfortunately, with a full wearing, I also for the same annoying astringent in the background as rubyhexagon. You know that synthetic, perfumy and almost toxic annoyance that you can taste in your mouth? That. Such a shame, because otherwise this is near perfection. It is so beautiful, mild without being weak. Emotionally I'd place it in the same category as Noa Noa; comforting, innocent and kind of motherly at the same time. A scent that is easy to wear, that wouldn't offend anyone. Very likeable, very feminine. Warm and fruity, but not to sweet.

This is a fruity oriental gourmand, very well excecuted and full of beautiful subtexts, particularly the link to the ancient Persian ritual of YALDA. Pomegranate and watermelon can indeed be found in the topnotes. The scent quickly merges into something very soft, warm and comforting. It has a sweet side to it, but it doesn't feel overloaded with sirup or honey. Not a very "characteristic", let alone novel kind of scent, there are similar fragrances on the market (much more expensive ones) which play with the same theme of warmth and orientalism, but a really lovely perfume, pleasant and friendly.

I have the light blue bottle, which I bought in 2025 - not sure if it’s been reformulated or not. It’s a soft and mellow tonka and flowers, which is lovely but weak. It lasts less than 90 mins on me; to the point that the perfume I previously sprayed hours before has outlasted it. I can’t reconcile my experience with the positive reviews below. It’s lovely but the performance isn’t good enough to fully enjoy it.

A marvelous duet of tonka and vanilla - that's the best way I can describe this fragrance. It's deep, yet wearable, decently fruity (more not than yes) and very sweet. I can imagine it can give headaches to some while others fell in love with it. Definitely not what you would expect from a cool-toned bottle - it is a gorgeous woody oriental scent.

My boyfriend isn't interested in perfume and would never reach for a feminine looking bottle. I tell him to use whatever he wants and a lot of my collection is unisex anyway. However, he usually applies this the few times he wears perfume! See, the bottle looks quite masculine. But, shhhhh, don't tell him it's for women. It smells great on him 😉

So warm, a sweet blanket, comforting, bordering gourmand (mmmm, this sweet rice milk note!). Reminiscent of something I can’t pinpoint, maybe more a mood or a situation than a parfum? I would recommend it to anyone anxious in need of a cuddling scent or suffering from fall spleen ! :-)

Softly sweet. Relaxing and comforting. Almondy and very soft powdery. A crowd pleaser. It’s really very nice. A good perfume for a new mom. Final note: 6,5/10

I have a small bottle of this, gifted to me by an ex who went out on a scent shopping trip with another woman (I know, what a jerk!). He bought himself a few scents from Rituals and I suspect he got this for free. I have never been a fan of the brand, I don't think their aesthetic and prices are targeted to me especially. It's basically a hyped up body shop, with a limited product variety, right? Anyway, despite the interesting and supposedly warm notes this scent includes, they meld into one ambiguous and one-dimensional smudge. It smells like a reed diffuser or scented candle, very 'home fragrance' with something annoyingly astringent in the background. I want to like this, the bottle is pretty and weighty and the wooden top is a nice touch. Just not for me at all. I can imagine a woman who thinks wearing a leather jacket is punk liking this and making it her evening scent. No shade...

A sweet fruity perfume that, to my nose, does not follow the line of Black Opium, although they share base notes. After a somewhat aniseed opening, what predominates in the composition is the scent of blackcurrants, with a touch of powdery orris root in its first phases. It lacks the overwhelming sweetness of Black Opium and also its citrusy aspects, although they have in common the base of vanilla, almond and, predominantly in this Poème d’Azar, tonka bean. It has a moderate-soft sillage and a duration, in my already quite macerated bottle, of about 5 hours on the skin. Since it is not a very long-lasting perfume nor a very elegant composition, I use it in autumn or winter for short and informal outings. Scent 6/10 Longevity 5/10 Sillage 5.5/10 Quality/Price (Discontinued) Versatility 5/10 Packaging 8/10 Would I buy again? No
