Porcelain Pulse

I'm very sensitive to traditionally feminine-leaning smells...I don't think I pull off the "leans feminine" or even most of today's version of unisex. But this one is as right down the middle "unisex" as it gets. A female friend and I both put it on and we're surprised how different it reacted to each of our bodies. It smelled more masculine on me and more feminine on her. Anyway....it's a really great tea-note heavy hitter. I discovered how much I like tea accords when I first tried Imagination. While this isn't a dupe, the tea notes and fruity accords with a touch of spice made me immediately think of it. This one lasts a while....6+ hours. The sillage is a little "average" so it's OK to spray once more than you usually do. Really great safe blind buy if you enjoy fruity/spicy/tea frags. And you can probably share it with your significant other - regardless of their sex or pronouns.

I came across ROAN at a pop-up market recently and really liked all of their scents - they are all really well blended and unique. This one jumped out to me particularly. I have been super intrigued by black tea fragrances, and looking for another sophisticated scent to follow my appreciation of The Noir by Le Labo. So happy to have found Porcelain Pulse - it fits what I was looking for exactly! It's so intriguing! I love its development from the initial light fruitiness to a sophisticated blend of dried apricot, some carrot, and then hay and tobacco. It's lightweight, easy to wear, very unisex, and longevity has been great.

Full bottle acquired for my birthday earlier this month, so returning for a review! I think that ROAN created something super special here...What I love: the mix of tart yet crisp fruit and vegetal notes (much more fruit forward though), the creamy and comforting tea and spice components, and the ultra PRETTY florals. Dries down to a soft and cozy warm musk. I see this working for daytime wear from the first sunny spring day, up until the time the leaves turn in autumn. I feel sunshine with this fragrance, but not in the usual tropical summer sense. More like a pastoral fantasy meandering through a field.

It takes me back to the tea I used to share with my grandma: jammy, sweet, and floral. Rhubarb is such an underrated note, and here it shines, supported by accords that play beautifully around it. Pear adds brightness to the black tea, while carrot and apricot feel almost like the perfect marriage. A touch of cardamom is the perfect cherry on top. As it dries down, the sharper accords blur into a soft wrap of musk and hay. It’s one of my most complimented perfumes, and it’s easy to see why.

What a gorgeous black tea and apricot scent. I would not be surprised if you told me this was a Liis fragrance. It walks the line between Ethereal Wave and In This World in a way I didn't know I needed. It's got everything: black tea, dried apricot sweetness, earthy sweet carrot, dryness from hay, and that musky skin base. I realize I said sweet twice there, but don't get me wrong - this is not a super sweet perfume! It's very well balanced and so beautiful.

I got this because I wanted to try a perfume with a carrot note and I was NOT disappointed. It adds a really earthy sweetness to the other notes that makes it almost fruity on first spray and dries down into a beautiful woody tea scent. Like drinking an earl grey tea on a morning in early fall spring or early fall, when the soil is still damp. Absolutely obsessed and trying to save every drop (also huffing my clothes without shame)

I absolutely love this fragrance! I purchased the Discovery Set and started first with Mountain Memories but ended up having to pick this one up too! It has been my go-to all summer. It starts off with a sweetness that is not too sweet, like a vegetal sweetness that reminds me of the English countryside. The black tea really comes through on my skin, and it settles into a beautiful warm amber dry-down. Such a beautiful scent!

Extremely beautiful tea scent. The oriental spices and tea shine here. In my opinion very well blended and every note can be found. It’s very close to the skin though, so I’m not sure how it will perform over time. Testing it inside my elbows. It’s one of those interesting fragrances you can’t stop huffing. 2 hrs later and the spices and tea stepped away, leaving behind a complex sweet vaguely floral soap scent.

This was an out of nowhere surprise. I received a small sample from someone who said it was good and boy were they right!! This has a similar Thé Noir vibe meets Easter. It has some earthiness and a little carrot seed warmth but a very nice and smooth black tea note. It's honestly amazing and such a pleasant find.

This is dry black tea with earthy, slighty sweet carrots and fuzzy apricots. I also got a bit of some clean, fresh florals, and a wood dry down. I got smokiness from the tobacco and some dry earthiness from the hay, softened out by some musks. This is a beautiful cottage core esque type of tea scent

A delicious apricot-rhubarb tea laced with cozy cardamom, giving it a breezy, earthy depth. You catch a whisper of every listed note—it’s layered but easygoing. Smells like a refreshing, productive morning with the windows thrown open and the sun gently pouring in.

Lush opening which fades a tad too fast, but the mid and base notes are phenomenal in their own way. Gorgeous tea and hay linger behind peony and apricot. Sweet and earthy and fresh! I wouldn't mind smelling this all day at an office - very refreshing and chic.

Absolutely gorgeous tea fragrance with great longevity. It's soft but perceptible, and fades into a creamy, sweet scent with just a hint of the tea leftover. Perfect spring scent, and one I'll be wearing often!

Fresh, light, airy, herbal tea. The pear & apricot are a soft sweet with the balance of the earthy sweet carrot. I don’t get much tobacco, more ambery to me.

This is my favorite from the house and probably my favorite tea fragrance in my collection.

WOW! Fantastic and unique. Not much else to say. Would go for a full bottle of this one.

At first I thought this was going to be an overhyped, super-simplistic blend- and boy was I wrong. There is something in here that is a memory smell- burning hemp maybe? It smells like a fire that was just put out milliseconds ago- before the scent of the acrid blackness hits your nose. A lovely aspect. Very well blended. Black tea, hay, carrot, pear, peony right up front on me. A musky base stretching wide to envelop the full range of these many notes. Not getting much tobacco- if there is, it is very blonde- a dry, stale cigarette maybe. Rhubarb to bind everything together. Lovely vetiver gently mingling in the background. Vegetal carrot note is supportive here, and does not dominate. This is much, much more than the accords would indicate. Incredibly complex, and not too sweet. It does have a slight hint of bug spray in the background on me, but you'd really have to look for it to find it. An easy like for me, maybe even a love- let's see how it morphs as it continues to dry down. Ever so slightly feminine, moderate to low sillage. Great for summer, fall, spring especially. Fairly priced. Very complex, difficult to describe, and I'd wager skin chemistry is vital with this one. Definitely try this one for yourself. EDIT: its a like, not a love. The longevity was poor and there were no transitions during the drydown. It was only interesting at the beginning, until the notes all began to lift in unison.

This is such a well layered and beautifully blended fragrance. Porcelain Pulse feels like those gorgeous outdoor themed dinners/lunches people have. The theme for this brunch is late spring tea. The table is topped with raw, well washed, sweet veggies and sliced fruits. Full bouquets bloom over the dishes. There is a big green cardamom burst that dries well into sweet carrots, tart rhubarb, juicy pair and softened dry apricots. There is a vague sense of lush greenery surrounding it all. Whether it's grass, hay, or that lasting cardamom note I'm unsure. Could also be the tea, which is already steeped perfectly and without any cream or milk in pretty porcelain cups. The musks are clean and soft. Has a similar "fresh linen" quality that Current Culture had that in my mind is the floral pattered table cloth at this tea party. I'll definitely be wearing this in the early spring and hopefully to a garden brunch. Edit: After some time that detergent/linen accord was all I was registering at a distance. Getting a closer smell revealed the fruity notes again but like the other two in this set it's soapiness was giving me a headache. Ugh. Kind of upsetting.

OPENING - DRY DOWN This is beautiful. Green, fresh, and earthy nuances. All of the notes dance around the black tea note. There's whispers of tobacco, carrot, cardamom and musk. I was underwhelmed at first but as it settles into the skin, it becomes a complex harmony, one that comforts you. It sits softly on the skin, like a veil. REMINISCENT OF This smells like the message room of a Chinese spa, where they burn incense and the lights are low, there's warm towels and aromatics fill the air. OCCASIONS/SEASONS I'm loving the idea of this as an out of the shower fragrance, a bedtime fragrance, or one to lounge in on a rainy day. I think it could also work as an everyday work fragrance for those who work in an office space or a place where you share small spaces with a lot of people. FINAL THOUGHTS This is clean with green and earthy nuances. I've always been fond of fragrances with complexities similar to this composition. I think this could be a staple for the clean fragrance enthusiasts. The tea is present and complimented by the rest of the notes.

The opening is citrusy like a mix of grapefruit and lemons, but it's likely the pear, rhubarb, carrot, and tea. It smells vibrant and fresh. Then, it becomes tea and cardamom. Not a fan of that part but it softens very nicely as the florals enter. The end gives me the tea along with hay, musk, and a slight tobacco scent. This is definitely a tea-forward scent, so expect that to stick around for the whole journey. One spray on each wrist sits close to my skin and lasts for several hours.

I really love a whole lot about this fragrance. It's super interesting, changes often, and has a depth while remaining airy and aromatic which I super appreciate. In the world of tea frags this one is a standout. HOWEVER, I find I have to spray this verrrrrry sparingly. It is super strong in a way I don't like in my frags, and I find sometimes I feel like I'm choking on it :( I wonder if there's a way I can wear it lightly?

Porcelain Pulse is a burst of soft feminine, almost childish peony slowly drying down into a dry, mature ambery tea leaves scent. The peony is ever present in the background but sweet carrots, tea and a dry mixture of hay and tobacco create an addicting mix, blended so seamlessly i can hardly tell the notes apart. I'm not a floral lover at all but the depth of this peony forward perfume has me on my knees

This opens with an acidic fruit that seems like grapefruit, but it's likely that it is the pear, rhubarb, carrot, and tea blend. It smells deliciously fresh and tart. Then, it becomes tea and cardamom. Abstracted, lush sweet florals paired with the tea create a sour freshness. Finally, it becomes grassyish from the hay, but fizzles out before the other basenotes. I like it.

I like this! It's very unique and the apricot notes are interesting. Dry down seems a bit more masculine on me, but my nose could just be confused at this time. Won't buy a full bottle, but I may finish my 10 ml

I get hit with the carrot right at the start then it fades to a clean pear and tea scent with a hint of tobacco

An interesting, sparkly scent that makes me think simply of the term "garden." To start, it smells like a fruit garden. Upon settling, like having tea on a cooler summer day within a slightly overgrown patio. Overtly spring/summery, I think this would actually be a good fit on a crisp winter day. The fruits open with a "tang" for me, I get grapefruit as the first immediate scent that settles down into the apricot scent, but a tangy apricot. That fades pretty fast, leaving a powdery tea scent. I wanted this one for the carrot note and sadly I am not getting any of that, as the tea and spice notes seem to crowd over that (I just washed up some fresh, fragrant carrots last night, and this has none of the lush watery earthiness of carrot). It's a very well done fragrance upon opening, but I already can detect it fading and it has been mere minutes. So while the bottle is reasonably priced, you are not going to get much from the bottle, alas. It also has very weak sillage--I can hardly notice it on myself.

This oddly performed differently in each location I sprayed it. On my wrists, I absolutely got the warm, sweet notes – carrot, pear, and apricot - my clothes held onto the spicier notes – tobacco, rhubarb, and cardamom – and my neck and chest held onto the drier/darker notes – the teas and hay. The first few hours had decent sillage but I really couldn’t differentiate the notes that were projecting. The overall profile I was getting was similar to incense so I’m guessing that the tea truly dominated. The areas where I could smell the carrot, pear, and apricot mixed with the black tea were the nicest to my nose. The blend was fruity, but not too sweet or sugary. Unfortunately, the only place that the fruit/carrot notes were present were my wrists, and I had to really get my nose to the skin to actually smell them. I think if this performed more evenly, or at least had some better balance of fruity to dry notes, I would have liked it much better.

A lightweight scent, feeling proper and delicate, Porcelain Pulse, with all the daintiness of its ad copy, loses the steam of its tea party rather swiftly, leaving it feeling even more porcelain that what was perhaps intended. The carrots are subtle props in the periphery, dried apricot so distant as to almost be mistaken in scent for Crayola crayons, and the tea and flowers are a whimsical blur, as if yanked away by the March Hare before it could be fully enjoyed. This followed by Disney animated hay and tobacco, the kind that wouldn't wrinkle even the fussiest of noses; again it is distant and even a bit wan, leaving much to be desired. Don't get me wrong, its all pretty and pleasant, and I wouldn't object to anyone wearing this—that is if I could smell it at all. All the potential in this concept could've been pushed forward to a more dazzling effect. Recommended for those who are seeking an inoffensive, anemic tea scent.

This smells like gingery powdery carrots (but somehow more fruity than woody) which is actually quite nice but unfortunately, it really doesn’t last at all. It was hard to get into because of the short lifespan. I was a bit disappointed because of the beautiful descriptions people listed below! But maybe this problem is unique to my skin.

This smells exactly like Garnier Fructis conditioner. It’s a fruity soapy scent. Not my cup of tea but I can see why this would be appealing.

I used to like this one but now it smells like it's gone off somehow, the hay has come way too far forward.

Porcelain Pulse was one of the fragrances I was most excited to try because the note pyramid sounded almost perfect for my taste. Black tea, Darjeeling tea, carrot, rhubarb, cardamom, dried apricot, peony, and lily all suggested a refined, textured tea fragrance with a unique personality. Even the name, Porcelain Pulse, made me imagine something cool, elegant, and delicate. The opening absolutely delivered. Right after spraying, I could clearly smell the black tea alongside the carrot, rhubarb, and cardamom. Those notes blended together beautifully, creating a sparkling freshness that almost reminded me of fresh ginger, even though ginger isn’t listed anywhere in the composition. It was one of the most interesting openings I’ve experienced recently and immediately made me hopeful. Unfortunately, the fragrance gradually moved away from what I loved most about it. One thing I want to make clear is that the tea never disappeared. In fact, it remained one of the strongest parts of the fragrance throughout the wear. The problem wasn’t that the tea was lost—it was that the base completely changed the character of the tea. Rather than smelling like a cool, refined cup of tea, it became what I can only describe as a hay-scented tea. The combination of hay, tobacco, amber, vetiver, and musk transformed the fragrance into something much drier, louder, and less elegant than I had hoped for. I also found myself searching for the heart notes without much success. I never really detected the peony, lily, or dried apricot as individual notes. If they were present, they were overshadowed by the strength of the tea and the dry base. At times, the combination of the floral accord and the base even gave me a subtle bathroom-cleaner association. I don’t mean that it literally smelled like a cleaning product, but there was a clean, perfumey sharpness that reminded me of that type of scent and pulled me out of the experience. I gave this fragrance more than one chance because I genuinely wanted it to work. I tested it on my arm, on my chest, in different weather, and even reconsidered whether humidity or a mild headache had influenced my first impressions. After wearing it for hours on multiple occasions, however, I kept arriving at the same conclusion. The opening continued to impress me, but the drydown never became something I enjoyed. I don’t necessarily think hay is a note I dislike across the board. It may simply be this particular combination of hay, tobacco, amber, vetiver, musk, and the floral accord that doesn’t work for my nose. Together they create an atmosphere that feels too sharp and overpowering for the elegant tea fragrance I was hoping to experience. This was ultimately a disappointing sample because the opening showed so much promise. If the fragrance had stayed closer to those first moments of tea, carrot, rhubarb, and cardamom, I think it could have become one of my favorites. Instead, it evolved into a dry, rustic tea fragrance that simply wasn’t compatible with my taste. Final verdict: A beautiful and intriguing opening, followed by a drydown that completely changed the fragrance into something I couldn’t connect with. Unfortunately, this one is a pass for me.

the carrot note was there and cute at the beginning but this just smells like cheap kids shampoo to me. I want to love it but it's very plasticy and soapy on me, I don't get any tea. Girl at the perfume store said she liked how it smelled on my skin so there's that!

Rhubarb and carrot, with a bit of a tea note. Blended together, for some reason it gives off a white ceramic shard–like smell. As it develops, it slowly turns a bit sour and then shifts into a peony-style disinfectant / chemical scent.

This is my idea of a true spring fragrance. I imagine myself at a garden party in someone’s backyard. My dress is flowing in the wind and there are charcuterie boards filled with fruit. The scent is soft, a bit citrusy, floral, fresh and the added Darjeeling black tea adds a needed punch to keep this from being redundant. I’d definitely own a full bottle of this. The sillage is moderate but I think it’ll make a real impact in warmer weather.

I get the fruity onset drying to tea and hay, like others do, but it’s all so very sheer and light. However, I really am liking it. It’s like a half-version of Indigo Smoke minus the blueberry I don’t love. Mostly tea with some light fruit juice and citric acid powder tartness. Light, crisp. A good apricot tea scent. Nice but not for cold weather. Might be a lot better in spring or summer where it can bloom.

Whoa I like this. You're definitely getting a sweet vegetal greenness, masked by fruitiness. It's fresh without being too soapy, if you're not a fan of that. I like that it's both floral and youthful. I might look into getting a travel size.

starts off quite green, settles into a really nice tea scent. the apricot and floral notes are present as well, and they all blend together quite nicely.

I wish I wasn’t so sensitive to peony it’s a beautiful fragrance unfortunately I cannot get passed the peony if it wasn’t there it would be perfect

I was really intrigued by the notes in this fragrance but unfortunately the black tea is too prominent for me.

Smelled it. Loved it !!!! got a full bottle to me its this very fruity tea. Rhubarb tea :)
