Chai

I received a free sample of Chai de Robert Piguet when I ordered a sample of Youlong Cha from Nishane. I bought a bottle of Chai soon after! :D It gives fresh and mood-lifting vibes, but also smells sophisticated and bold. Not generic tea scent. Slightly masculine and sexy. I read in one of reviews that it’s “intelligent” and I love that! It’s a bit powdery, (or I would even say gives me associations with pollen - I believe that’s because of beeswax... or mate?), but also has very smooth and creamy woody dry-down. After a full day of wearing it my daughter said I smelled like our favorite jasmine milk tea. Sits close to skin. An interesting twist on tea-themed fragrance. Now curious to try other fragrances from Robert Piguet! My associations with smelling this perfume - listening to bright, resonant acoustic guitar concert in a dark quiet concert hall full of people

This perfume is one of the most great combination of notes.I personally think that the tea leaf and the honey mix absolutely amazing together,as natural too. HONEY and TEA. Love a lot this perfume, I am 40 and my daughter which is 16 rates this one of the best niche perfumes I had, and I had a lot :-)

I spontaneously layered this with Jo Malone's Lime and Basil and received thousands of compliments. This fragrance is very true to green tea, not spicy milky chai. Perfect for summer and spring.

Don't smell honey or tea but whatever it is I smell, it's gorgeous! Almost green, almost 'neroli', but not. Pity it's so darn expensive.

Spring in a bottle, although this fragrance is also perfect for summer, sunny days and for the first autumn days, when it is not yet cold and the sun's rays are peeking out from behind the clouds. There is a lot of green freshness here, such a tea one, but having nothing to do with Arden Green Tea. Here it is mostly mate tea mixed with a decent spoonful or even two of good quality dark honey and a bit of beeswax and it would seem that it must be sweet here then but not at all. This nice freshness is enhanced by bergamot and woodsy notes which are in the end cover this all by warm, pleasant cover. To put it simply, Chai is freshly woody honey and extremely comfortable to wear, very universal, and although it is simply constructed, it has gained my sympathy and I would like to have it at home and relax with this tea.

I really enjoy Chai. There's not much going on here, but sometimes a cool cat such as myself needs something airy and inoffensive. A palate cleaner, if you will. Enter Chai: fresh, sweet tea. I'm pleasantly surprised at how long the bergamot hangs around before the clean musk takes over! Sort of shower fresh? It's not complicated and I can't imagine anyone hating the way I smell when I wear this. Chai has much, much better performance than most other similar tea perfmes, with soft sillage and moderate longevity. Useful! Will get a bottle if I get a good deal.

It breaks my heart a little to give a Robert Piguet perfume a bad review. Early in my perfume days, Fracas and Bandit were both really important to me, and I still love them both and want to defend RP against all comers, out of gratitude. But Chai is just awful. It opens with the sweet alcohol/nail polish remover smell I remember from 70's products, and it goes to hell from there. It's got a sweet busy-body rose to it, and it smells nothing like tea, let alone like the milky, spicey, rich scent of real Indian chai. It's just a nasty, leafy green, with a horrid geranium note. The nicest thing I can say about Chai is that it's pretty short-lived. I need to go console myself with some Baghari, just to steady my nerves and reassure myself that all is not lost at present day Robert Piguet.

I don't know if Chai in reality smells like this but Piguet's Chai smells like urine on my skin. I only smell black tea and mate. It's a light bitter green scent, I think that it smells like a cup of green tea that has gone bad. It has absolutely no lasting power, you should feel lucky if you have it on for 15 minutes or so. It would be ridiculous to mention the word "silage" for this perfume.. For that price range I prefer buying Bvlgari Eau The Vert.

Does not last!! I applied and within 15 minutes I could hardly smell anything. Actually, that was okay because I did not like the fragrance. Could smell the tea after the initial opening but not much, not much of any of the notes came through. When I ordered the sample, I expected a chai tea-like fragrance. This is nothing spicy like chai tea. Very bland.

Wow... goodness no! Reading such complex reviews here! Smells nothing like a typical tea you would know and every bit of bug spray -in particular Aeroguard. I have a tolerant nose but this is just a carbon copy of something in Australia we always remember in summer to spray all over to keep the mozzies away (mosquitoes).

I rarely defend for a perfume, but I think Chai is a lovely perfume. The middle notes are very strong and interesting, and the base notes are very smooth and pleasant. I would not consider it a tea-scented perfume though. More like a floral oriental. I think people are comparing the new perfumes to the Robert Piguet classics (Fracas, Bandit, Visa, etc) and find them disappointing - that I can understand but I think that the new line is not bad at all. The only problem, in my opinion, is that the new owner of Robert Piguet is putting all the eggs in the same basket, asking Aurelien Guichard to create/recreate their whole line. Besides Fracas and Bandit, almost all the perfumes have a similar undertone. (Kind of like your music library only consists of Enya albums.) Is it good or bad? Let's say, if you like Bond No. 9's Chinatown, I suggest you check out Chai.

This Chai works for me better than other tea fragrances... It doesn't have the super fresh synthenic green tea note, like Arden's green tea line. It has better sillage and longevity than Bvlgari Thé Vert and Thé Blanc. And it's a bit different. It's not that simple as L'Occitane tea creations (and also, with better longevity). It's fresh and sweet scent, it recommends me a smell of "white earg grey tea" sugared with honey, but not to much. Honey is not overly sweet, I would even say, that it's not honey but a nectar from orange blossoms... It's not a dry fragrance like lot of green tea frags are. And not boring, tea note is treated differently than usually. But I'm still not sure if it's worth the price.

It's a chai day for me today. I was expecting an indian spicy concoction here...I get jasmine, but a very very subtle one. Apparently there is bergamot blossom in here, not getting the bergamot but plenty of green, more of a soapy, subtle green, not herbal not fresh, subtly soapy and floral green. The tea aspect is a touch lost on me here but maybe an Asian jasmine tea I can align it with. I do like this, but it's soooo subtle.

Light, pleasant, nothing wrong with this delightful Piguet creation, refreshing concept to create scents that will be enjoyed by lovers of fresh , modern scents. Not a fan of honey, so for me, this is not one I will have, although it is light enough that the honey note isn't too heady. Still plenty of other great choices in that brand!!!

And Now: Thanks to the best efforts of Guichard, to complete the fall of style of that poor Piguet, we have the eau de parfum version of a common honey-camomile shampoo. A clap!

I have to agree with Eloquaint's review. This smells like some sort of cheap air wick fragrance. It's awful. Elioquaint eloquently explained this fragrance's awful-ness.
