Cravache

i have an emotional attachment to vintage perfumes. they are a constant joy. i currently have a 30ml which is being happily depleted. to me, while unisex, reminds me of a handbag that has lingering vintage vapors, the mix makes individual notes impossible for my nose to detect. herbal sweetness deep and full. a dress up white shirt, jacket and tie. not sure how popular this would be for contemporary tastes but it still is gloriously rich. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sept 28, 2022 a 240 ml splash bottle arrived today. another bottle of wonderful fragrance that will last me a nice long time

I already have and appreciate Aurélien Guichard's 2007 re-rendering of Cravache, but I found a lovely atomizer bottle of a version from the 70s and I must say, while Guichard did a fantastic job in its re-launch, this is really something else. Both sunny and rich, with very little patina from age, petitgrain and lavender are most prominent, and a quartet of moss, vetiver, leather and chic-smelling musks make this an ultra-classy wear, in a tan tweed check three piece suit with a double-breasted waistcoat kind of way.

This is a fragrance from the "Mad Men"- era which stands out a little, as this fragrance from the house of Piguet also has a prominent floral-moss-leather accord in its vintage version. It projects mildly, yet somehow feels powerful. A 'kind of blue' scent, with lots of citruses as well as lavender. A great classic. Now very out of tune with the times and wasted on the masses, it is to be used cleverly and with care. Impressions from a well-preserved seventies 480 ml bottle.
