Robert Talbott

Robert Talbott. A brand I own a quality, Goodyear welted pair of shoes from. Unfortunately, the brand has hit rough times and seems to have shut down all psychical shops. Even the website listed on the bottom of the fragrance box (Roberttalbott.com) also is dead. They are known for their ties and shirts mostly. But in a post covid world, menswear will cease to exist as we work from home in our joggers. I stumbled upon this fragrance for 29.95 on Saks off 5th website, but actually purchased it for 17$ from Fragrance X. MSRP was 130$ apparently. As far as the fragrance goes, it immediately reminds me of Terre D Hermes. Definitely pick up on orange and grapefruit. And dry down is definitely wood and cedar heavy IMO. This fragrance is an insane value at sub 20$. The quality is great, and it’s a fragrance for a well put together man. Think smart casual on a bright spring day. Or business casual at the office. Oh wait, it’s 2022 and everyone works from home! The packaging is even great too. Very high quality and reminiscent of what the Robert Talbott brand once was. Im Surprised no fragrance youtuber reviewed this fragrance yet. There’s not a single video of it up, and there’s no reviews for it other than fragrantica. I say it’s a must buy at 20$. Once it’s gone, it’s gone for good as the brand no longer exists. Farewell Robert Talbott. You, Brooks Brothers, and other menswear brands will be remembered as we head further into post Covid times.

James contacted me via private message, asking me to add Robert Talbott fragrance. I have forwarded the request to the database team, but it caught my attention that the fragrance is heavily discounted from $120 to $29 on Sax Fifth Avenue. Elena did a deeper dive and found out about the financial troubles of the Robert Talbott brand, and last year the company was for sale. It's a sad story for such a beautiful brand. Elena bought the fragrance, and this is a steal. It does remind slightly of Terre D’Hermes but it is a much more sparkling and mood uplifting fragrance. I am so glad to be able to acquire such a great fragrance before it's sold out.

It’s nice. All the reviews are accurate. Masculine spicy citrusy woody scent. Dry down is pure pencil shavings. The performance is pretty weak on my skin. Smells better on my clothes. The presentation is very nice, I love how it sits in the box. Excellent for work, professional and inoffensive. Update June 2024: coming back to this now and I must say this is great. Very similar to terre dhermes. Really nice natural smelling frag. Seems to be sold out everywhere online. Found mine for $30 at a Rexall here in Canada. Grateful for this lil gem.

Not sure about the longevity or sillage of this yet as I’ve only had it on for a bit over 30 minutes. I haven’t smelled Terre DHEREMES... But alone, giving this a good rating based on the price. Picked this under for about $20 with shipping included. Definitely smells above the price point. Fresh spicy, woody, aromatic scent w/ a slight undertone of the orange note. This is a pretty light fragrance and one that’s easy to reach for. Will this scent blow your socks off? No. But this is just an overall nice easy scent to wear.

This fragrance is a hidden gem that I stumbled across on the Saks Off Fifth website... Beautiful packaging and bottle give way to this spicy citrus fragrance. As has been already noted, this fragrance has a thread to Hermes TdH but I actually like it better! It also reminds me of two other fragrances which I also love and that is Cereus No. 5 and Yardley's discontinued Citrus and Wood. For thirty dollars, this is a no-brainer... If you like any of the mentioned fragrances, pick this up. You will NOT be disappointed!

I've had it for a few years and it is definitely the best daily fragrance. It's similar to terre'dhermes with it's DNA however this has an almost ozonic quality while being more wearable and uplifting; a sort of 'sparkly' vibe. It reminds me of the spring sunlight, carved wooden desks, libraries and Europe??. I truly loved this fragrance and it's a shame I no longer can wear it. 8/10 for the smell but I give it a 10.

This is indeed a hidden gem. Found heavily discounted as discribed by Zoka below. Beautiful smooth Vetiver is the driving force here accompanied by lovely soft woody notes with a teeny tiny bit of "pencil shavings" in the background. As already described this hints at Terre D'Hermes but I find this easier to wear. Smells so expensive...I love it!

It’s basically a cleaner TDH for $20. Get it while it lasts?

The fragrance, it is clearly influenced by Terre D'Hermes. Both open with notes of orange and grapefruit. After the initial application, Terre D'Hermes develops into an earthy orange with woody undertones. Robert Talbott's fragrance, on the other hand, opens similarly to Terre D'Hermes, but as it dries down, it transitions into a woodier scent with orange undertones. Essentially, it has a very similar scent profile to Terre D'Hermes, minus the iconic earthy note. In summary, this is a slightly lighter and more uplifting version of Terre D'Hermes.

If you like Terre d'Hermes and want something similar but slightly less dark/heavy, this is an excellent option! To me, it's like TdH with a bit of sparkle and more of an uplifting vibe. I get the same orangy, peppery top over a woody, earthy bottom. Heard about it from TZ Fragrance over on YouTube. At the time of this writing, you can find it at online discounters for sub $20 USD.

...an unexpected pleasure...a slightly lighter, fresher Terre D’Hermes...very easy to wear three-season aromatic edt...if you only know RT for their seven-fold ties you’ll like this...nice four-square bottle with wooden cap...a hidden gem at the price...

Mature, masculine and luxurious smelling. 3rd wear and really digging it. Sillage- So far seems much more than moderate. Longevity- 5 hours in right now and still going quite strong on me. First 2 tests were interrupted first by sleep and then swimming. Price- Jail Break price point. Added Bonus- Presentation and bottle are classy looking and top shelf. I am definitely going to grab a few for gifting and look like a big spender. An absolute pleasant find and surprise.

This is like a blend of two Hermes classics, Terre D'hermes as has been mentioned, but the citrus/aromatic side very much makes me think of the Voyage D'hermes EDT. I think if you did a 50/50 mix of those two it would be this. It works quite well and I can see why this one is getting raves as a legendary cheapie.
