Capucci Pour Homme

I put this on after a shower a few nights ago and fell asleep smelling it, as did my wife. Classic, chic and a wonderful chypre in the Italian style! This is not modern, but that is why I like it even more...its authentic charm. Could definitely be unisex on the right woman, but I think this leans towards being masculine. The burst of mainly lemon & lime with some bergamot joining in is fantastic on top - fresh-squeezed and very juicy! Most people today, except for those who know fragrance, would strictly classify this as a Spring/Summer daytime scent that needs warmth and sunshine. Well, a well-constructed chypre that has good mid and basenotes is actually year-round, like Capucci Pour Homme...and could most definitely be worn in the evenings of Spring, Summer and even Fall days. Cold Winter nights is about the only time you couldn't wear this out. However if you're staying inside and just took a nice, warm shower and want to smell amazingly fresh, clean and chic - a wearing of this juice and you awake the senses ;-) ! The florals are very nicely integrated - lavender, jasmine, cyclamen with a wonderful earthy note of bay leaf...that play nicely with the drydown of warm tobacco, patchouli, very nice musk and fresh-cut leather - all resting on a damp, green and very natural moss. A refreshing citrus/floral/green chypre that never gets cloying or heavy - just stimulating & invigorating. Classy - yes. But, you could definitely wear this dressed down in nice sandals/loafers, a polo shirt or a button-up (short or long-sleeve) I would say that this is a fragrance for the 35 & up crowd of men who are confident, sensual and know what a gentleman smells like. But, after revisiting numerous times, I don't feel this will smell dated at all. Wear it with confidence and anyone can pull it off! If you lived on the Italian Riviera (or have visited as I have), this evokes wonderful memories. It creates its own sunshine, as I am writing this review on a rain-soaked day. One good spray on the back of my wrist and Capucci Pour Homme is radiating. 8+/10 and a strong recommendation for those who understand fragrance and fresh chypres! I find this to be rather similar to a masterpiece in the top and middle notes (not base), of Gianfranco Ferre for Man...which is so dear to me (but only for the current formulation in the black bottle - lighter, bright lemon on top with well-integrated florals, patchouli, light wood & moss with a pinch of tobacco). However, there is no deep, rich wood like GFF for Man in Vintage form and the leather and vetiver is not nearly as prevalent. Important to note the difference between formulations as this actually wears like a "fresh classic". Capucci is not linear at all, but it maintains the refreshing vibe on the damp moss throughout the full wearing. Personally, I like to apply moderately and refresh at least once during a daytime wear (after about 3-4 hours - because one who loves chypres cannot get enough of this wonderful, fresh herb-tinged citrus/floral opening that greets you with an aire of classicism and refined masculinity...making this such a truly great scent!) Update - full wearing today...weather is overcast and cool, but not windy. This is so vibrant and refreshing! While the citrus gets the attention here in reviews (and holds throughout the fragrance), it is the very aromatic bouquet of herbs, the blossoming heart of florals and nice green notes the make this a wonderfully balanced chypre with the nice moss adding the touch in the base that enrichens the entire scent (as Grottola pointed out). The touch of Italian leather is fresh and light (not at all dark) and the musk is a just a hint dirty, with the tobacco further emphasizing that facet - again adding touch more complexity, as well as warm depth in the base notes. But, this never gets heavy and retains its beauty and citrus/floral chypre vibe throughout. Yes - and Capucci Pour Homme could be an everyday office scent as pointed out. Created 45 years ago and as invigorating as the fresh-squeezed, juicy citrus sitting on top of this chypre! After getting more light wearings before today (including just a few spritzes after showers), I was more and more impressed. This full wearing today brings my score up to 9/10! *Additional Update* - this has been in my rotation and shows incredibly well in warm weather - I reserve it mainly for evenings on balmy nights. I find the scent to be so inviting, soothing and aromatically rich. A perfect scent for dinner on the patio of a fine restaurant and a friendly game of bocce ball. Refined, distinct, but somehow casual. This scent is the essence of what a magical chypre offers and makes so endearing & charming to the wearer. A scent that I will enjoy year-round, indoors on cold days, but shows very well with rain and humidity as it stays aromatically fresh. The bay and lavender, as pointed out by my friend krmarich (wonderful, brilliant review & so happy you have this in your wardrobe - cheers!) keep this very fresh and clean indeed...from the gorgeous and radiant citrus opening through the heart and base, this retains its vibrant freshnes and harmony. Exquisite.

This one needs some modern marketing. It's possibly the best summer fragrance I own. If you are a man of distinction, then this should be in your summer wardrobe. It's the kind of scent that will have women crooning if you are the right type of guy. You have to be stylish, a professional with a light heart. That's what this scent convey's. It's a citrus masterpiece. Modern fragrances aren't this exact when it comes to the lemon/orange zest that this one has. Acqua Di Parma is definitely comparable to this. Also, Eau Sauvage (not Sauvage). It's hard for these type of fragrances to smell dated though, even though they are pretty old. They smell too citrusy. Citrus doesn't smell old. It smells like citrus. As Citrus-y fragrances go, these notes last pretty long on this one. There's a grass in this fragrance though. That grass reminds me of an older gentlemen who is on a golf course. It truly reminds me of guys who when I was a kid had all the money and played golf. Seriously, this stuff smells like you should be loaded. I'm just saying honestly. I think that's something. Everyone else is out smelling fresh and good and playful for the summer. This will set you apart because you will smell like you are a man. Also, a man who has money. Which one of these scenario's gets more guy's laid? I rest my case.

As of January, 2025, this is available for around $28 for 100ml. So It is not currently discontinued. But that could change. I love old school fragrances, but despite trying really hard, I just could not like Eau Sauvage. The bright lemon, the green heart, all had great potential, but those cloying chypre/floral notes were just too much, and I had to admit defeat. Then this one came along. It has all of the positives of Eau Sauvage, but either reduces or eliminates the chypric/floral excesses, and pushes the whole composition into a fougeric direction. The citrus is a bright but dense melange of lemon and lime, a complex herbal accord of basil, bay and oakmoss give this a nice bitter chewy green heart. The tobacco and leather don't stand out alone, but integrate with the ample patchouli to shout OG masculinity. It is the masculine to something like Cinnabar's feminine. This is powerful, long lasting on skin, but with office-safe projection after the first 30 minutes. For under $30, this is blind buy worthy for anyone who likes 70's masculines. Once the current batch is gone, this will be going for over $100 on Ebay, so don't wait.

Beautifully blended perfume. It opens fresh, invigorating, but transforms perfectly into mature, classy, sophisticated juice, that stands on its own compared to Eau Savage or Aqua di Parma colonia. Two days ago I have tested side by side Aqua di Parma and Cappuci. They are similar, but while Aqua di Parma has fresh, strong opening of various citruses, it stays like that and it is pretty linear and not so long lasting. Capucci on the other hand, evolves and transforms from beautiful lime/lavander combo to oakmoss perfection. IMHO Capucci is way, way better than Aqua di Parma. It has character, a fragrance personality of a well groomed gentleman. Rating: 10/10. Better longevity than Aqua di Parma, too. though projection is subtle, but with 5-6 sprays throughout the day you will be just fine. If you are buying this as a substitute for Aqua di Parma or Eau Sauvage, then, well, just don't, because it is a unique fragrance, that basically does not need to be compared to others, it is that good.

I love this shit. Classic! Some people say its harsh or outdated. For old men. I think it smells great. Nice sharp slightly bitter herb and strong citrus opening. Lime and lemon pop loud and clear from the start then it softens up with the bergamot basil and anise. Soapiness. The basil is there with a nice bay leaf note. Then the florals shine with the lavender more dominant on a base of ambery musky leathery patchouli. There's a touch of tobacco and incense in the base too. All seasons, day or night and a great 1970's flashback. Atomiser sucks ass so for a long lasting scent give it a good 8 squirts or it'll be gone in a couple hours. Projects well for 2 hours then eases off into a 6 hour presence. Fresh citrusy opening with herb and spice floral into the mid and a nice masculine base. 9/10
