Punjab

I scored a vintage bottle of Punjab just recently. This was a blind buy based purely on the nostalgic reminiscence of a friend of mine who wore this in the 80s.I was not disappointed! Punjab is a beautifully constructed oriental fougere that aptly pays homage to its namesake with its rich spicy notes. Punjab retains an elegant old world aura but avoids being outdated, a trait shared by other classic perfumes. Too bad Capucci discontinued this gem.

definitely beastie. totally unisex. very colorful experience. smokey bars, lots and lots of cocktails. head shop incense, explosively scented cosmetics. chemical dinosaurs roamed the earth. funky disco played really really loud. don't stop til you get enough on the wild side wearing punjab, going nuclear, maybe even with village people in the navy, but then again it just might ring your bell. lingers a long time.

This really is SPECTACULAR. I'm so happy I scored a 60 ml vintage bottle at a good price ($60). Punjab is solidly put together and its performance is excellent. Aside from other notes, there's a dry incense element to Punjab that reminds me of GBH V.I.P Special Reserve, which I also love. Highly recommend.

brought a decant with me to venice--perfect. i reread my earlier review; and neither it nor i changed. still a roaring burst. enjoying the biennale in my own "avant-retro" cloud. what separates punjab from it's 80's cousins is the playful resinous almost pine-sol punch. it takes no prisoners.

My very first memory of a perfume: I was a kid (in the 70es) and stole a sample from my mothers & I treasured to sniff it... Birth of my love/taste for oriental frag's.

It's August 1980, he is getting ready for a night on the town, hair slicked back impeccably, Levi's leaving little to the imagination, he's getting amped up, "Beyond" by Herb Alpert blasting from the stereo, the disco lights are just starting to be relabeled as "dance" to remove themselves from the stigma. He is about to rule the night. One finishing touch: about six sprays of Capucci Punjab, strategically applied, and he is on the prowl. Grab the keys, grab the money clip, grab the Trojans, one more look in the mirror, keep it cool, and we are off. He's feeling warm and spicy. Punjab is the catalyst, redolent of animal magic and Fire Island pine sap, the rustling of bushes, distant smoke, carnation bushes and geranium leaves (crushed by one's back in the throes of passion, naturally), and the liturgical essence of dawn's penance from the previous night's exploits. Raw, shady mustiness, echoes of fervor and rapture. Someone's had a good time. Punjab has that aura. It's alchemy, and I am not so sure that it can be replicated in the present day. Or maybe it can, if we draw from the past with an open mind and without resorting to tired, Internet-driven mimesis and hackneyed tropes.

While digging thru a pile of dated things to throw out of my life,I find a bottle of this cologne,sprayed it on a tissue,man! this is some powerful stuff,but you can wear this during the winter season with limitations.
