R de Capucci

Im happy i got this before it (likely) dissapears off the face of the earth soon. So if youve smelled Eucris by Geo F. Trumper, you know 80-90% of what to expect. This is a SUPER clean, Mega well groomed masculine scent. As far as the "most mossy fragrance ever" as people say, i dont agree. Polo Crest is oakmoss absolute beating you over the head compared to this. And its actually kind of perfectly polite yet strong enough in performance to satisfy fans of old school fragrances. As far as the Eucris comparison, this is pretty much current Eucris but with real oakmoss. I dont know if finding a vintage Eucris bottle is even possible, but this would likely be extremely similar. I got this in the mail today, wore it to work. 2 unsolicited compliments and one thumbs up from a 20 year old guy i talk about fragrances with occasionally. This is just an extremely well made and timeless (i suppose barbershop style) mens fragrance. Two thumbs up from me. Edit: upon a little further wearing, ive noticed that in the drydown the vetiver actually jumps out, at least to me, and its very nice. That vetiver drydown makes it different from Eucris which stays quite sharp its entire life on my skin.

The definition of a Chypre in its true classical form. Opens citrusy, sharp, strong, then softens up with subtle elegant florals, then ends over a woodsy, leathery, mossy base. Fine smoke rises from a combination of moss and leather, while Vetiver enhances the composition with its woody structure. A timeless but vintage masculine scent that competes with some of the best of its time. It reminds me of Lancetti Monsieur, with leather and smoke, and without the dry rosewood/sandalwood accord to paint a clearer picture.

Green, herbaceous, and a good performer. It's in the same neighborhood as Bogart by Bogart (Signature), Basile Uomo, Worth Pour Homme, and Francesco Smalto Pour Homme. If you like any of those others, you should like R, but it may feel redundent if you have a few of those others already. (I have full bottles of R, Bogart, and Basile, while passing on Worth and Smalto after their mini-bottles; partly because of sameness and because I like those other three better.)

This is my favorite cologne. I love the smell . very distinctive and lasts a long time. I get massive compliments when i wear this. since it is very hard to find i wear this only to special occasions . when it was in production it was never that popular. back in the day it was more of an alternative cologne for the elite! rate this a 10/10 .

My husband smells so delicious (in a clean, sexy way) wearing this and it has wonderful staying power! It has an elegant refined masculinity that's enchanting and a slight green "sweetness" on the dry down that isn't ever overpowering. Beautifully balanced and very memorable. I've got to locate more for Father's Day! :)

Yeah, this reminds me of Bogart. One is interestingly a fougère and the other a chypre, though the line between the two can sometimes feel blurred. Anyway, even though these fragrances kind of remind me of each other, R de Capucci is vastly superior

Beautiful, reminds me of Chanel Antaeus the older juice. I go to the shop everyday just to wear some...I will have to purchase the tow splash bottles they have.

Long live Evernia Prunastri. Unfairly villified and restricted, when for decades and decades of its generous use resulted in no fatalities, no permanent disfigurations, no incidents of widespread pandemonium. Just a handful of case studies involving allergic reactions when the pasty, undiluted solvent-extracted absolute from the raw plant material was slathered neat on skin and left for several days. Oakmoss is not the villain. The true villains are the lobbyists of gigantic firms who want to ensure that their products are the standard and the only option to create this fabled note in fougeres, chypres, and beyond. This bottle of R de Capucci was from a time where oakmoss could be used in rather generous amounts (which in reality was only around 2% to 3% of the perfume concentrate max in most compositions) to lend not only formidable fixative value, but also to lend an enveloping quality, a texture, an unequivocal 'naturalness' to compositions. It's a keystone, and here, it is in full form, exalting the green and herbal notes through the heart and even to the base. I splash it on and I am left with classical ambience, enraptured. This is living!

The dryness of the lavender and citrus off the top of R de Capucci has promise, but my biggest complaint is that it doesn't hold. After five minutes, the bracing and dessicated aromatics give way to a sweet powder and soft sandalwood, with a vague hint of greenery on the periphery. Some say the powder is tempered by the greens; I find the soft, woody heart too overpowering. This is the definition of "perfumey" to me. If I want stark lavender that slips into softness, I'll just use Pour un Homme de Caron. That said, R de Capucci has appeal for being otherwise faultless, obscure (which is a plus in today's niche-obsessed culture), and classically composed. I guess it's good for the office, but frankly I think you run the risk of being labeled "cologne guy" by your coworkers.

I am getting similarities with patou pour homme aftershave in the opening and more gucci pour homme in the drydown. I was lucky enough to pick one up for $20 for a 30ml... i will be going back and buying a couple more for sure. This is a very masculine and green, spicy, leathery fragrance
