Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition

Love it or hate it! Is definitely something new! This is the scent of bad girls!! Is very heavy and I can feel the leather and smoky scent from it. Also GREAT lasting power!

Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition opens with an oud accord commonly seen in many western exclusive oud fragrances, sharing the leathery, earthy and slight nutty characteristics of cypriol, and devoid of any animalic, musty or musky facets of the oud. A jammy rose discreetly runs underneath, but thankfully never steps out of the shadow. Saffron provides mostly its fuzzy warmth, but none of its tantalising fruity yet bitter medicinal aspects. The fragrance mostly remains this standard western-style oud, but with one intriguing addition: an incense note reminiscent of clean burnt dirt. Smoky, but not arid or aggressive, and it adds a surprisingly airy vibe to the otherwise dense oud accord. The perfume doesn't go under any major development. It just becomes more creamy due to the amber and vanilla in the base. The sillage is moderate, and the longevity is around 10 hours. Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition was released in 2013, right when the oud became so fashionable that every designer brand was producing at least one exclusive oud fragrance. Inevitably, many chose to play safe, only adding minor variation to the common oud accord, which is what this Oud Edition did in my opinion. That being said, this Oud Edition feels surprisingly smooth compared to a few smoky oud fragrances in recent years that rely heavily on certain aggressive, extra-dry woody amber aromachemicals, for which I'm grateful. If you enjoy designer oud fragrances with less emphasis on rose, Roberto Cavalli Oud Edition might be an option to consider.

First impression is wao, awesome, but I know this smell, it's an incense, some minutes after, omg, not incense, it's like cherry cigar/pipe:) Definitely unisex, colder weather or evening time fragrance, well done For me this is rather heavy smoky-incense smell than oud.

To my nose, this is somewhat floral. Although not listed, I get loud rose and no saffron. The basenotes are quiet and in the background.

I like certain oud blends, especially when combined with rose and musk...but this one....YIKES!! It's a dirty, sweet, smoky/incense-y Oud, very rich, black and gravelly in texture with a strong musty leather note...the saffron adds an additional punch of spice, and the vanilla-amber sweetness merely 'attempts' to tame these wild, beastly notes. It punched me in the nose and continuously did so, and when I tried to scrub it off at home, soap and water failed! The scent still lingered for hours! I had to wash it off 5 or 6 times and spray something citrusy over my arm to be able to stop smelling it. It doesn't smell like Black Orchid but they share the same vibe. They are two of the darkest, most morbid female scents my nose has ever chanced upon. This is another one that black widows, occult practitioners and serious bad ass chicks need in their collection. Guys could wear this too. But PLEASE, not more than 1 spray, it could knock someone down!!

My life is full of oud scents, everywhere here in the Mideast Gulf region. Roberto Cavalli Oud is really not that special in this context. There are several exquisite private perfume/oud shops that make amazing mixes, either as oils or EdP/EdT etc. and for a better price. Roberto Cavalli Oud is not a very clean, smooth scent and seems to have some ragged edges. It is very masculine, at times almost harsh. The transition from opening to drydown is a rough ride. If you want oud, try Montale or Mancera.

It's super heavy on aoud and saffron in the opening, medicinal and 'hot' (from saffron) smelling til it settles down. About 10 mins in a surprising amount of orange comes through with some noticeable neroli, followed by an only slight incense appearance after that w/ an oily leatherish smell. After about an hour the leather really comes forward on me; melded w/ the oud (still going strong!) it has an expensive car-leather smell vs a saddle or a leather jacket. I may add that this is NOT a burnt leather smell (ie lightyears away from Bvlgari Black type which is all burnt rubber on me!! ack!) but a smooth and expensive leather w/ a certain type of conditioner set on it. It is tar-like at the start but mellows as it wears in. I'd say it's fairly masculine if I'm being honest. The oud is VERY potent so I could see that note being thought of as medicinal by some so I guess it depends on your taste. It's really interesting. It is undeniably badass; it's so smooth for how dark and heavy the ingredients are! The oud stays the whole time and the orange/neroli stay for quite a while once they appear but move to the background, just kind of balancing out the heavier scents. But only just. I'd LOVE to smell this on a guy. I go back & forth questioning whether I can really pull it off or not but for now I will keep battling it out until one of us wins. P.S. Quite similar to Golden Boy, I prefer this one because I can actually detect tones of white floral and incense as time goes by, whereas w/ Golden Boy I found the oud-like scent + saffron to be absolutely overpowering compared to the other notes. My nose was a bit stuffy at the time though so take it w/ a grain of salt *shrug*

Wow! Oud and leather sweetened by amber and vanilla, which are prominent at the beginning but lose the battle hours later and you are left with a supersmoky oud with a touch of sexy leather! I never thought before Fragrantica that I would want to test, never mind buy a fume by Cavalli, but, where praise is due this is a very well composed frag and a badass at it. As a fume for a date or evening out amazing, but a confident female can wear it any time! More like this gem pls!

Oh-oh-oh, but this the real thing! Even believe that it is in the RC, stuck to the nose without any markings, never would have thought to RC, would have said some niche. Leather-foot-rail-oil, so to speak. This beats my very soul. Brutal thick skin (not thin suede), then hear rubber sole shoes, then a little creosote, then some technical oil-that I so hear this confusion. And why is claimed to be female? Unisex it, I think men should feel free to test!

Flowery top notes quickly makes way for a nice leather followed by amber and delicate synthetic oud. There is quite good depth to this perfume. Only worn once or twice but I could wear this as a guy as it is overall smokey. Alluring for a lady who wears Western Oud not sure about the bottle a little garish. Cannot comment on how long it lasts but others on here say it does. Good stuff

This was a sexy, long-lasting oriental oud-leather perfume blended to perfection, with a bold and distinguished feminine powdery vibe that was mesmerizing. Discontinued, but deserves some tribute for what it was. Probably was one of the best and most addictive feminine ouds ever.

I tried it few days ago, the opening was fruity & sweet,but 30 min later a the leather warm it up the dry down is smoky leathery amber, my nose didnt pick the oud but great perfume any way.
