Gold

This is such a well composed fragrance. For me, there is nothing to dislike about it. It is so wonderfully done. I don’t understand the notes list though, because you would think from reading them that this would be a heavy scent. Actually, the opposite is true. It is very light, airy, citrusy (bergamot), with light florals (as opposed to heavy flowers) that stays that way for some time until the velvety smooth, lightly powdery base notes appear. Light airy florals were always my first love, which is maybe why I am so drawn to this scent. Patchouli, which I normally hate, is very well done. Not overpowering or medicinal, just the barest hint. The sandalwood and amber add further smoothness and depth, with a powdery iris, and the tonka adding a little sweetness that further rounds out the scent. To me this smells much more expensive than it is, and much better and more interesting than Chanel Gabriel, another perfume created by Oliver Polge, as it lacks that horrible sharp grapefruit opening note so strong in that fragrance. Though I’ve worn this in the winter, I think it is much more suited for the spring and summer because of its airy lightness. Longevity and silage are good, though not great; but one can afford to be heavy handed and reapply when needed because of its inexpensive price. Personally, I think this is a masterpiece of perfume artistry. It fits its name. It is truly gold. I love it!

This is an odd one for me. It seems to be really affected by subtle changes in chemistry and environment. The first time I tried it, it seemed very artificial and gave me that harsh "bug spray" scent. I'm trying it again today, and it smells more light and natural. It's not the type of gardenia I usually gravitate towards - that buttery, almost mushroomy and earthy type. This one smells lighter and more green. It calls to mind the gardenia in Aerin "Gardenia Rattan". I am surprised how well the amber works here. It's not the deep, resinous smell I associate with florientals and other, more wintery fragrances. It's sheer and gives the composition a bit of depth. The musk is the clean and fluffy type, not the least bit animalic. At this point, none of the other notes really stand out to me. I'm sure if I focused, I would pick up on some of them, but honestly, I just view this as an easy, breezy type of scent. I just enjoy it for what it is - something I don't feel a need to deeply contemplate and definitely generic. It's an affordable way to smell good on the way out the door. Nothing more, nothing less. It's pleasant and a solid like, but not something I would go out of my way to repurchase, even at the very affordable price point.

Unfortunately, I can't agree with the previous comments. This perfume is one of my favourites. It's very warming and wraping you up with it's powder notes. For me it's quite natural to associate it with gold as I almost feel the glow radiating from this perfume. My mother, who is very capricious concerning prfumes, often advises me wearing this misterious (as she calls it) scent.

I got a sample of it, and I didnt like it. It remains me the perfumes of the 90 ́s. It is quite strong and mature. Not for me

Quite powdery due to orris root, warm and cozy due to amber, tonka bean and sandal, this has a beautiful drydown, soft and dark at the same time, I can hardly detect musk nor patchouli. A powdery dark gardenia on a somewhat warm spicy bed of tonka bean and sandal. Sillage and longevity are medium. To me, this is a floral woody oriental. A sensual night scent, preferably.

I have to say, I love this fragrance. And the price is inexpensive yet smells expensive. Warm, sexy, very feminine. I'm so glad I picked up a bottle.
