Eau de Rochas Homme

When Eau de Rochas Homme hit the market, fragrances with the same olfactory signature already existed, so it didn't represent a major innovation at the time. But it was important for the brand, that the male version was up to the female version, which continued to bring good results with sales, even two decades after its creation. The acting perfumer of Rochas - Nicolas Mamounas -, who also created the feminine version, bet on a classic citrus-aromatic, which could bring the elegance that existed at the time when the feminine perfume was launched. Going back in time, we had Eau Sauvage (Dior, 1966) and YSL Pour Homme (YSL, 1971), with their citrus accords, floral body, and woody base. The formula was always the same: lots of lemon, bergamot, basil, verbena, geranium, moss, and vetiver. Eau de Rochas Homme did not escape the rule and brought a composition full of ingredients, just like in the old times, that is, without minimalism. Officially, there was no talk of reformulation. But along with the repackaging of men's fragrances, which occurred in the 2000s, some adjustments were made in several lines and Eau de Rochas Homme was not left out. Visually, it hasn't changed much, except for the lid. Regarding the fragrance, loyal users since the 90's claim that the recent version is no longer as mossy. However, they say that it is still very loyal to the original version. On the skin, Eau de Rochas Homme is a refreshing treat. Unlike other perfumes from the competition, this one brings more versatility and a touch of youthfulness. The first stage explodes with a more natural and light aspect, the evolution is not as astringent as in the other fragrances mentioned and the drying does not seem so heavy. Does this mean that it has left aside the classic style or, as it is popularly called, the “uncle/grandpa” style? No. But the uncle who wears Eau de Rochas Homme is younger, takes care of his appearance, and just turned 40. Which does not mean, that the young man in his twenties, and sober soul, is forbidden to wear this fragrance, just to make it clear. Obviously, with so many volatile notes, Eau de Rochas Homme is not the best example of trail and longevity. But it is, still, one of the best options available for hot days, if you are that type of user who doesn't get along with watermelon nuances, ozonic accords, or soapy effects. More than a citrus-aromatic, this perfume has a chypre aura that makes all the difference. In particular, I smell fresh lemonade, slightly sweetened, and without any sour side. It is a clean, fresh, and elegant perfume (without having to take etiquette lessons) and with an invigorating appeal. Of course, I can only speak for myself, but if you like this type of fragrance, I believe that you will no longer be without a bottle after you know this one.

Like sunlight streaming through an open window... Eau de Rochas Homme is a very good, comfortable, fresh summer scent that carries a surprising amount of weight for being a such a citrus cocktail. The opening lime and bergamot could fairly be described as “confident” and VERY bright. There’s something wonderfully balanced about the old-school and modern citrus accords, too. They are fresh without being too sporty, and clean without smelling like a post-marathon scrubdown. The basil adds an aromatic twist that gives it depth and a slightly earthy quality, with the overall effect being like gardening in a lime grove. The middle notes introduce jasmine, carnation, freesia, rose, lily of the valley, and violet, all of which is either charmingly retro or mildly concerning, depending on your tolerance for florals in men’s fragrance. It’s handled with such restrained masculinity that it never tips into grandfather territory, though. A touch of bitter artemisia and spicy-fresh coriander balances out the florals very nicely. While there are absolutely some similarities, it’s not quite a 1960s Eau Sauvage kind of floral (though I love Eau Sauvage, too). The spicy carnation does most of the heavy lifting here, providing just enough pepper to give it a botanical kick without edging you close to a sneeze. I would like to see them push up the freesia a little bit to carry more of the green accord along with the existing white florals, but overall it works very well. The base settles into cedar, sandalwood, and oakmoss, which remain the holy trinity of “serious gentleman smell”. The musk in the base notes does have a little bit of 1990s laundry soap accord, but it doesn’t really carry the sense of dial-up internet or frosted tips. If it is now finally time for the 90s to start feeling “classic” more than “vintage”, this note could be one of the first in that catalogue. Mostly though, it’s woody in a way that suggests desks with brass fittings and leather-bound books, but for someone who is also at home outdoors getting dirty. There is nothing stuffy about this scent. This is nature filtered through the lens of someone who can hike without a trail, clean the battery contacts on an old Land Rover with a can of soda, make tea in the bush, and then wash up, put on a linen shirt, and arrive for a nice dinner with a flattering natural suntan. The performance is thoroughly appropriate. It is present but never pushy, and lasts just long enough to get you through lunch without requiring a refresher. It projects with a volume that works well for indoors and close quarters, or catching a whiff on the breeze outside. Overall, it’s a good fragrance for those who value discretion over projection, and those who want to smell like a summery gentleman rather than a lifestyle brand.

THE BEST LEMON FRAGRANCE? After wearing more than half of my big bottle, I decided today to test my vintage Eau de Rochas pour Homme. OPENING: Strong zesty Lemon-Bergamot-Lime-Verbena loveable explosion with noticeable aldehydes. One of the best citrusy opening I have ever experienced. DRY DOWN: Still a citrusy ambiance but with a stronger Vetiver and Moss domination. It is a magnific fresh EDT! The fragrance only consists of various lemon accords (or citrus fruits) and basil, but these ingredients are perfectly balanced. So that you smell a tart, fresh and masculine lemon. What a triumph! One of the most authentic fragrances I know. And for little money for the recent reformulation still available. There are two different formulations. The box of the vintage bottle says "Eau de Rochas pour Homme", while the new one says "Eau de Rochas Homme" and it has a silver cap. The older version had natural oak moss, a less strong citrus note and a warmer heart (herbs, myrhh?, hard to say). The new formulation emphasizes the citrus note and goes silvery into the somewhat weaker heart with a weaker base. The effect is more similar to Aventus, but smarter and less vulgar. Both versions are fantastic, and above average to average performance for this type of fresh fragrance. Eau de Rochas Homme and the rest of the Rochas line have somehow evaded me through the years. Despite being widely available online at excellent prices, they rarely seem to grace the shelves of the major boutiques. Recently, I found myself craving a citrus: the paragon of carefree, beautiful scents. When properly executed, a citrus fragrance becomes a companion for life, ideally serving as the anchor for a full kit of delightful necessities: soaps, shampoos, and deodorants. Good citrus fragrances are notoriously difficult to find; great ones are even scarcer. Much like chess, the genre is easy to learn but exceptionally difficult to play well. I’ve never cared for the countless "ozonic" clean scents that lean on aggressive wood-ambers and musks. Similarly, I struggle with traditional Colognes; even the greats (like the discontinued Institut Très Bien trio) barely survive two hours. Then there are the "cheats", masterpieces like Chanel Pour Monsieur or Monsieur de Givenchy which are actually Chypres using a mouthwatering citrus opening as window dressing for a mossy, woody drydown. To my mind, the only genuine citrus fragrances that endure without becoming loud or vanishing entirely have been the masterful Eau de Guerlain (perhaps the greatest ever) and Hermès Concentré d’Orange Verte. These are far more than colognes; they are proper, full compositions. I am thrilled to say that Eau de Rochas Homme now joins this sacred band. It is the most wonderful "proper" citrus I have worn in years. It opens with a bold, rich blast of high-quality citrus verbena and transitions seamlessly into an exquisite woody-green drydown. It captures that specific, carefree beauty that feels both timeless and pure. My only regret is that I didn't opt for the 200ml bottle immediately. I’ve been wearing it so fanatically that I’ll need the extra volume soon. Plus, that sculpted bottle is simply gorgeous.

Fresh, summer citrus done right. An initial blast of lemon-heavy citrus hits you with a sunny burst. A few minutes later, as the citrus recedes a bit in intensity, I get fresh green as verbena and basil make an appearance. Settles into a floral heart before the oakmoss and vetiver pop through in the blend. I also get a note of something that reminds me bit of ginger, but I suspect it's the coriander seed mixing with those bright citrus notes. I get no amber, and very little, if any, of the darker florals (rose, carnation, violet), mostly freesia and lily. Kudos to Nicolas Mamounas for adding jasmine to this with such subtlety, rather than the usual cloying, headache-inducing sweetness. Everything about this says light, airy, some may even say watery, though it doesn't have much in the way of traditional aquatic notes, it does have a bit of an oceanic, beach breeze vibe as well. One of the things that I love most about this (besides the mystifyingly cheap price) is its surprising similarity to Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. I haven't seen anyone else mention that, so maybe it's just me. This is a little heavier on the citrus, but both have very prominent lemon and vetiver notes. Grey Vetiver is the superior performer, but at this price, don't hesitate to spritz a midday refresher if you need to. Longevity: 7/10 (4-5 hours, not great, not terrible) Sillage: 7/10 (Soft to moderate) Versatility: 9/10 (Can be sporty, casual, or even business casual/semi formal, dress it up or dress it down) Value: 10/10 ($20-$25 for 100 mL) Scent: 10/10 (One of the best in my collection) Overall: 10/10 Bottom line: Bright, summery, refined, elegant, well-blended, and a must-have for every collection. And at this price (mine was 100 mL/3.4 oz for around $20), there's no reason not to add it to your collection. I'm very pleased that after 25 years, this is still available!

This is a nice fragrance to wear after a shave and a shower on a spring day. Overall, it's zesty and lemon fresh smelling. Description in 2 words: Lemon and whiskey Comparing it to other fragrances: This fragrance doesn't have as much personality as the lemon heavy Allure Homme Sport Cologne (clear bottle). Allure Homme Sport cologne has personality because of the sharp notes, while this fragrance doesn't have any sharp notes. Eau De Rochas Pour Homme has a much more likable scent on it's opening right out of the shower. I'd also compare this to Bucheron by Bucheron which is also lemon heavy. Bucheron Homme has the best smelling opening lemon scent out there, although the dry down on Bucheron is nauseating to me and reminds me of old lady perfume. (just my opinion) This is the least offensive of the three, and the best overall for someone else sniffing you. For me, I do get a strong smell of lemons as if you just cut open a real lemon. The scent isn't synthetic at all. When I take a longer sniff, I get a bit of musk which I don't really enjoy. This scent smells great on you, and I don't really like the long close up sniff of this because of the hint of musk towards the end of my sniff. The drydown is where this edt shines. It's about 80% lemon and 20% vetiver. In other words, it smells like a dirty lemon. This may sound horrible, but I really enjoy it. It's basically an enjoyable light scent which is non-offensive, but doesn't really have a personality that stands out. Overall, it's a great sub $25 fragrance that you will enjoy, and most people that sniff you will enjoy. I feel that it suits a man 30 years or older best. Great for a spring day. I had almost exactly the same experience as Dead Disney below. The first time I tried this, all I got was artificial lemon reminiscent of furniture polish. I'm not sure if it took my brain a while to get used to it, or if introducing a little air into the bottle caused the top notes to settle down a bit. Now this is one of my favorite citrus forward fragrances, and one of my favorite fragrances period. It's unique, and to my mind nothing like Eau Sauvage at all. Eau Sauvage has a dollop of chypre and a stealthy leather accord to connect it to your skin. Eau de Rochas Homme doesn't retread Roudnitska's sleight of hand, sneaking an animalic backbone into a citrus aromatic fragrance. Here Mamounas plays it straight, but makes the fragrance interesting through its floralcy. The carnation and lily of the valley accord serve as pleasantly floral heart notes, connecting the citrus top with the cedar in the base. In Le 3e from Caron, Akiko Kamei and Francoise Caron breathe new life into the fougere structure through clever use of white florals. This fragrance plays a similar game, albeit toned down, with a citrus aromatic--pushing the floral elements, making it easier for men to wear flowers by placing them between citrus and woods. I would hate to be without this one.

Eau de Rochas is a fresh, subtle, and classy piece of fragrance history. It has HEAVY lemon and the lemon verbena in the opening. Obviously much nicer than your typical cleansing agent, but I can see why some might think it resembles Pledge or whatever. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how much you like lemon) that opening dissipates pretty quickly, giving way to a smooth, warm concoction of florals, woods, and a bit of moss. It steers the fragrance in a much more masculine direction than the opening would suggest, and it's much appreciated given how many citrus fragrances these days dry down to a simple musky base. As nice as this fragrance is, as other reviewers have alluded to, it just doesn't last. I need to go 7-8 sprays to get any sort of performance out of it. Luckily, it's cheap and easily stored (the bottle is as space-efficient as it is beautiful!) so I guess that's a decent trade-off. Performance issues aside, this is a nice fragrance to own, especially if you're into the evolution of the contemporary "freshie." It does smell "classic" but not dated, and it's always fun to smell clean fragrances that don't draw heavily from ADG, Cool Water, GIT, etc. Definitely worth the price if you're looking for something to just freshen up with.

There are great dirty citrus scents (Eau Sauvage, Colonia) and there are great citrus-woodsy scents (Chanel PM, Colonia Intensa), citrus tobaccos (Tom Ford, Vera Wang), citrus-whatevers - but for straight-up fresh citrus scents this is the best I've ever smelled. Even the effusive praise from the reviews below didn't prepare me for just how splendid this is. It's not tart citrus like you just doused yourself in fresh-squeezed, and it's not gourmand citrus like Ultrazest, it's perfectly situated right in the middle - it's zesty enough to stay authentically citric all the way through the drydown, with just enough sweetness from the floral components to stay safely out of the sour range. If you want the perfect citrus delivery system for work, play, rest or romping, look no farther - absolutely spectacular that they can provide this scent at this price. It does fade pretty fast, but I get 4-5 hours on my skin before it's hard to pick up, which is about all I expect from citrus-heavy summer scents no matter who they're from or how much they cost.

Just bought this one online today and waiting for delivery. When I was young, I always liked a lot how this one smelled, but I ended up buying it only for gifting someone and never for myself, I ignore why (well, when young I never spent money on perfumes). Now that it came this moment of my life when I'm collecting, it's when I purchased a 200 ml bottle. I read that it has been reformulated, so I'm excited to smell this new formulation. I will edit my review once I get the bottle, but according to my memories the one I smelled many years ago, I was in love with it, it smelled sooo nice, fresh, rich, versatile, refined... But I ignore if it might be a bit "dated" nowadays. For me it is a must have. EDIT: I got it few weeks back and, although I still like the scent a lot, but I find it somehow a bit different than the original, possibly a little bit "watered down" and softer. I might be wrong because it's many years ago since I don't smell the original one. Anyways, I like it very much and I don't see it dated at all. It's a safe buy.

A timeless scent! Still one of the best citrus & wood fragrances I've had the pleasure to experience, the mixed citrus opening (mainly bergamot, lemon and lime to me) is just superb. I wore this today, sunny & 28°c and alas it did seem to evaporate fairly quickly (after a couple of hours it's a very close scent) but then I did a fair bit of walking in the heat, I doubt too many other similar scents would have done much better. Not that this is dated (to me) but for a modern take on a similar theme Azzaro Pour Homme Cologne Intense is a very good one too, although it isn't as natural smelling to my nose. Edit: It's now 7 hours since my review and I can still smell Eau de Rochas on my arms (I initially did a double spray on each forearm), very close yes, but it's still there ( fragrances typically last quite well for me ) 😉 Edit 2: On another site beginning with a 'P' this is marked as discontinued, a real shame if true 😳

I had heard so many wonderful reviews on YouTube about this fragrance, so I just had to get it. Despite anticipating that intitial blast of heavy citruses(lemon+lime), I just couldn't put my finger on what I was smelling. I was then reminded of the personal review of Miguel Matos, Fragrantica editor and columnist. Basically, he likened Eau de Rochas Homme to a gin and tonic. Mind you, the initial cap did resemble an ice block. I then got a better understanding of what I was smelling. Thank you Miguel! A gin and tonic on the rocks, with a lime wedge. It's an absolutely fantastic, classy, citrus aromatic/chypre fragrance, with alcoholic nuances. Keep this in your rotation for the hot days of Spring and Summer. I love the inexplicable design at the back of a very classy looking flacon. Eau de Rochas Homme is an absolute must have for all fragrance connoisseurs. Price-Quality ratio is UNBELIEVABLE.

I finally got myself a bottle (new formulation). This is such a lovely spring & summer scent. It doesn't smell dated but rather has a little of that classic 'eau de cologne' vibe coming from the lemon & verbena, which combined with the other citrus ingredients here produces a scent pretty much like sunshine in a bottle. Or rather like drinking a cold citrus fruit juice on a warm sunny day. Unlike the previous reviewer I do pick up on some vetiver and oak moss but they're not too strong. I don't smell any floral notes or basil though! The only disappointing thing as stated in the review below mine is that the performance isn't too great. At all! However I bought my bottle at a bargain price so can go heavy with the sprays of this timeless and simple (despite the long note-listing!) beauty! Update; anyone with a sweet-tooth like me will recognise a nice fizzy lemon sherbet vibe! :D

Citrus and verbena, decorated with light herbaceous and floral notes before some woody vibes kick in. Green and fresh. It's not a photorealistic citrus fruit (or citrus fruit + some flowers) captured in a perfume as some perfumes try to make. It's a perfume that conveys freshness assisted by composite citrusy aromas. It's a bottle of cool and refreshing juice without any connotation of cloying sweetness. (aldehydes have played a big role) Not dated at all (side note: this eau and I have similar ages). It's classy and classic. Unisex. 10/10 summer scent, works for late spring and early fall too. Longevity is better than many other citrusy juices. Great price value. update: I don't know it's due to oxidization, the so-called 'maceration', or simply skin chemistry, my bottle now leaves an obvious trace of patchouli on my skin. I love patchouli though, it's just feels weird

Gin and tonic on the skin; it's so citrusy and aromatic. Big ol' lemon and lime open with ozonic aldehydes and herbal verbana / basil give me that fresh glass of that fizzy goodness. It's not sweet, more fresh sliced lime with the wedge dropped in your carbonated drink. Then in the heart, as you dive into the glass up to catch the happy little bubbles you get mixed soft floral notes alongside spicy gin from the cardamom and pine combination, but still with that lime wedge hovering about. The base is mostly lemon lime vetiver with a little mossy cedar to me and while it isn't really a long-lasting fragrance, it's a Summer banger that you don't need to last for more than 2-3 hours. Rock this to the gym or to the pool and let the heat carry your refreshment forward. If you like Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme EDT this will probably be a love. It is for me.

Well this quickly became one of my favourites. Beautiful lime in the opening followed by more citrus and a floral component. The florals aren't feminine at all. What I love is that it doesn't deteriorate after wearing it for a few hours, but it maintains that fresh feel until it fades away. Longevity is great (8+ hours), and sillage is perfect. You're surrounded by a nice aura. 4 sprays is not too much with this one, two on the chest and two on the neck. You could spray your shirt as well if you want the top notes to last longer. It didn't stain. I was discussing a case with a woman at work a few days ago when I was wearing this, and I noticed she was leaning towards me. She just said it as it was: "Sorry if I was leaning towards you, but you smell so good." Something along that line. Damn good fragrance, and I wish I found out about it sooner.

This is an amazing scent. I am not surprised by the high ratings, because it is hard to imagine a more refreshing and classy perfume. Eau de Rochas is a cannot-go-wrong kind of perfume that fits all occacions, but I do think it is best in warm weather. It has moderate sillage and longevity. To me, Eau de Rochas holds special memories, transporting me back to a year that I spent in Spain. Officially to study, inofficially to party and experience a lot of emotional turmoil. Just ask any Erasmus student how it goes. (For those from other parts of the world and with possibly less frivolous scholarship associations: Erasmus is a well-known and widespread scholarship given by the European Union.) I hope that all the sexy, decadent and crazy people I once partied with are safe and sound and still smelling beautifully - of Eau de Rochas or otherwise.

I bought 5 strong lemon fragrances to pick myself a winner for this summer and Eau de Rochas is the winner by a long shot, beating out Versace Man Eau Fraiche, D&G Light Blue, Azzaro PH L'Eau, and Azzaro Chrome Sport. Eau de Rochas could definitely be a unisex scent and is so pleasant. It opens with a STRONG lemon lime blast that smells more like a candy than it does a fragrance. It tames down into the perfect amount of lemon lime. With the drydown comes refreshing woody scents with some lemon remaining throughout. Looking at Eau de Rochas, you might see a release date of 1993 and a note of oakmoss and just write it off as a dated scent but the oakmoss is minimal and this fragrance appears to have been way before it's time. I'm truly surprised this is not a more popular fragrance. It will be my new go-to in the summertime.

This is a fresh citrus scent with some real depth and character behind it. There are two distinct phases to this fragrance, both of which are excellent. The opening is a delightful combination of citrus, slightly sweet, energizing and optimistic. This lasts for about 20-30 minutes, during which time the next phase slowly emerges and then takes over. This second phase is my favorite and lasts for hours: the waxy, lemony character of aldehydes combined with soft florals and vetiver/woods. This dry down phase is still fresh with lingering citrus and aldehydes yet at the same time warm and inviting. Very nice combination for warm weather, and doesn't smell dated like a 25 year old fragrance often does. Eau de Rochas PH is one of the nicest long-lasting citrus summer scents I've encountered and I'm glad its in my collection.

My favourite real lemon-citrus fragrance with an Italian gelato refreshment vibe. Surprises with the freshness lasting till the fragrance is gone but is pleasant throughout with a very nice vetiver-woody dry down. I love this fragrance for a sunny mood and enjoy the occasional unexpected whiff that hits my nose. A classic that is absolutely up-to-date with no old frag connotations. Hasn't met its match yet that could replace this gem; one of my best-loved all-time picks. Am actually surprised about the low number of votes and that this does not receive more review time and love on YouTube, especially when compared to the high number of sweet run-of-the-mill summer frags out there. In mho, EdRH beats most of them in terms of realistic lemon freshness and uniqueness. Hope more people will give this a well deserved try.

Initially, all I got was a Lemon Pledge opening and a decent citrus dry down. I chalked it up as a 'Meh' blind buy and banished it to the bottom shelf of my frag case. Big mistake. Gave it another go a few weeks later and couldn't believe it was the same cologne I'd scoffed at earlier. Now, I don't get the Pledge vibe at all; it smells like a lemon/lime blast of cool, fresh air. I get about four hours of moderate projection and then it turns into a lemon/cedar skin scent. I don't get why anyone would consider Eau de Rochas Homme generic or boring, unless they made the same mistake I made initially and did not spend enough time with it. I give Eau de Rochas five out of five stars. Highly recommended, especially if you pay under 35 bucks for the 100 ml bottle.

Blind bought this fragrance as the reviews described a scent a typically really enjoy... and i'm not disappointed! Eau De Rochas is everything I hoped it would be. It opens with a burst of lime that quickly starts to smell like a mojito that was just poured into a glass. The hyper realistic lime is very present along side the greener notes (Lemon Verbena notably) and together they create a wonderful refreshing scent that I just can't stop smelling. This isn't a projection monster, but that isn't a problem as it is for the hot summer days where fresh and airy is appropriate. Some people say this smells outdated but 30 seconds after the initial spray I don't see that and i'm in my 20's. 100% worth checking out, great value for money.

Oh boy, this is what a very expensive limonade would smell like. So clean and fresh! The price you get this juice for is a steal for the quality of the smell. Performance, i mean, it's a freshie so it is what it is but the scent is beautiful. So versatile too, you can legit wear this to a summer wedding or to the office, dress up or down, doesn't smell "cheap" at all unlike a lot of frags of this category specially for the asking price. Also, doesn't feel like a syntethic bomb...i'm very impressed by this juice. The opening is casual, the drydown is business-like. This is a no-brainer, blind buy worthy if you like citrus based frags. I just can't see how anyone would not appreciate how you smell wearing this one.

Lemon with depth (or rather lemon verbena with depth). This has fast become one of my favourite summer scents. You know from the opening exactly what you're getting, as the fragrance is fairly linear. It has a luscious citrus brightness with a fair amount of greenness from the lemon verbena note. The florals give it an extra dimension with almost a sweetness that is never overly cloying, and the amber and musk give it real sticking power with the whole scent being grounded by vetiver. This lasts and lasts on my skin, and even if I've sprayed it on around midday I can still get a hint of it after the sun's gone down in midsummer, and not just the base notes. For the price, one hell of a summer scent.

I tried this out in a store today (finally!) and wow! Eau de Rochas homme is so lemon-zesty! In some ways I wish I'd bought this instead of my (rather generic & weak performing) recent summer acquisition Mercedes-Benz Cologne-they're not similar (apart from the lemon vibe) but both are good for the hot weather. I think this fragrance has more to it than just a summer citrus scent though, it's quite refined and rich with many different notes that can be picked up on at certain times. There's a lot of citrus & florals but I also smell the verbena, vetiver and cedar in the musky/woody dry-down in which the citrus is ever-present. Very nice fragrance 25 years on, apparently it's aged particularly well!

Brilliant balanced, a crisp delicious lemon/lime/bergamot dries down to a elegant woody finish. Uncomplicated but still it has a beautiful complexity to it. Fresh and elegant at the same time.Unique in the sense it has classic notes but still a very modern feel, this can never get dated. Perfect for day use in my opinion. I use it as my goto gym-fragrance , three sprays after shower and i know i smell good . Hands down my best gym fragrance. In a world of thousands different fragrances to chose from I'd say this is one of the safest buy you can make.The quality for the price is hard to beat. Only big drawback it doesnt last long on me, i only get 2-3 hours or so and the projection is not the best.

I have two bottles of this. Bottle 1, a 1.7 oz which is mostly clear (barely yellow), is an elegant fresh smooth zesty lemon fragrance that would work for either daytime or evening in spring and summer, dressed up or down. It is fairly strong and stays fresh for hours. It is a 10 out of 10! Bottle 2, which is a more yellow-colored 3.4 oz I bought because I loved the fragrance so much, definitely has a great lemon side to it, but is just as much a woody fragrance. It is weaker, requires more sprays, and dries down to smell like a good woody citrus shaving foam. It seems more suitable for casual daytime wear in the summer. It is an 8 or 9 out of 10.

On the top notes this is an energizing citrus explosion with aquatic notes and all the charm of a summer vacation. Curiously I found this gorgeous fragrance like an upgraded and a classier Cool Water. On my skin it has clear aquatic notes that when mixed with the floral notes of the heart and the chypre base makes it my perfect choice for the beach or summer time getaways. An amazing performance and a true compliment inducer. Can’t understand why this is not so popular. Very secretly kept and that’s how I will keep this wonderful fragrance since I don’t want anyone else around me to wear it. Adorable!

I have this bad habit of blind buying citrus EDC's, but with Eau de Rochas Pour Homme I have absolutely no regrets. At it's essence, EDR is a traditional EDC. The open is a very simple, fresh citrus with a mix of lime, bergamot and lemon verbena. The beauty is in the heart of the fragrance, however, which is a lovely blend of citrus and florals, with an undercurrent of herbs. The vetiver and oakmoss then enter the mix, which sustain into the drydown. I get pretty decent longevity on my skin (for an EDC), around 4 hours with moderate sillage. In short, this is a lovely interpretation of a classic EDC.

A stunning fresh citrus fragrance that just never stops giving. From the beautiful burst of lemon and lime in the opening to the herbal floral's in the mid-notes this scent has it all. The way the fresh citrus mixes in with the florals that lead to the woody base has you wondering why the fragrance cost is so affordable. The projection is moderate and I get about six hours from a healthy six sprays. As it's a citrus fragrance you can be generous in it's application. I cannot express enough how good this smells for a freshie, it smells better than scents five times it's price. Big thumbs up from me!

The scent of Eau de Rochas I find very fresh and mature. That's why I am sure some younger guys (not all) will find it quite dated. It is typical old school cologne that reminds me of my childhood in early 90s. Performance is mediocre. I wear it normally after shower in hot days during weekend, when run errand, or after work at night. Even though I think it is office safe (my office is not strict tho. A colleague wear room filling frag almost every day), but I never wear it to the office due to its bad performance. For me it won't survive even lunch time. Not safe blind safe.

A fantastic scent for less than 30€ /100ml. Its aromatic, fresh, citrusy, woody. High quality stuff. A classic that stood the test of time. Gilles Romey did a great job. I still have a vintage 50ml bottle that i reach every summer. Classy and masculine. A must have in every collection. Rochas is a historical house that doesn't get the respect that it deserves. Always talked as a cheapie house but its fragrances are everything but cheap smelling. Yes, they can be found for a penny but they are great. Rochas Man and L'Homme Rochas are others 2 favorites of mine

This fantastically bright scent reminds me of lemon sherbet and even lemon sorbet (without the sugar!) in the opening, perfect on sunny spring days, I think this fragrance is quite underrated or at least overlooked! Not modern nor dated (ok maybe a little or perhaps 'traditional' would be more suitable word), it's one of those timeless scents that doesn't smell like it's from the era in which it was created (1993) either. The dry down eventually becomes woodier but there's still an ever-present citrus fizz. A must try for fans of citrus, lemon in particular!

This is good stuff, and for the price you just can’t argue what you get here. Bright citrus in the opening and it dances on your skin before the dry down. In the end you will get a slight sweet woody finish with a clean and fresh vibe. For me it lasts all day, and projects decently for the first four hours. I am really glad I took the advice from Dan (Mr.Smelly) who has a good eye for fragrances that don’t get a lot of attention, but are quality items for anyone’s rotation. Great bottle, solid price, and the perfect addition for summer.

Another great fragrance under the radar! So citrus, fresh, zest, woody, elegant and manly. A Lemon and Vetiver bomb. Eau de Rochas is a Time Machine. You gonna be transport to 90's! It is a perfect 90's fragrance. One of the most complements fragrance that I had. All women love everytime that I wore it. I just wish a better performance, longevity is around 6 hours but with a great and strong sillage at first hour. Absolutely lovely and easy buying again! Guys, try this awesome perfume. You will be surprise too.

This truly deserves the title of 'affordable gem'. Surely one of the best citrus openings I've experienced, the lemon in particular. This is brilliantly blended, it doesn't smell dated nor modern/current (ie ambroxan or sweet etc), it simply smells timeless. I sense many men's fragrances in the past 25 years or so were inspired by this superb citrus & wood scent. A fantastic fragrance, particularly in warm, even hot weather. Very good longevity for this type of scent with a noticeable yet elegant scent trail.

If you're after something distinctive or attention-grabbing, this might not be the one for you. But that's exactly why I love it: it's a masculine scent that feels elegant without trying too hard.

I wore this today (6 sprays-sprayer isn't generous) layered with a few sprays of Lalique Encre Noire. Working in the woods on a sunny, fairly mild day (for the winter season). Very nice, I really do wish the opening fresh citrus blast lasted a bit longer though! I could still detect a faint hint of the Rochas several hours later but more so the Lalique. Anyway just thought I'd share that blend, I enjoyed it. Still highly recommend this fragrance which really does open with some superb citrus.

Came here to vote that it smells like Creed’s exquisite Neroli Sauvage and saw that two people had already beat me to it. After subsequent wearings, I have noticed that the dry down doesn’t have the detailed woodiness of the Creed. However, the drydown does have some great white florals and hedione, similar to Eau Sauvage but more casual while strikingly beautiful. They essentially just share the same lovely verbena note in the opening and then become different fragrances after 15 minutes.

this is utterly beautiful... Fantastic citrus and cedar perfectly safe for any casual setting I wear this to run quick errands/shopping and it's one of my favorites for the gym (gotten several compliments there) The first initial spray it is very lemony up close and little furniture cleaner realm but the dry down sillage is where this fragrance dances you'll get whiffs of a beautiful citrus with a clean lite wood doesn't smell dated either and for the price definitely worth getting

Incredible. Starts off with fresh lime which blends with other citruses to form something smooth and sweet, yet dry enough to remain airy. Continues to smoothen out and become a fresh woody scent. Never generic though. One of the best for hot climates - reminds me of beaches, jungles, cool drinks in the warm breeze. Performance varies - sometimes lasts all day, sometimes needs reapplication after an hour. In either case, still amazing. It's cheap, so buy the biggest bottle you can.

Fun frag built along the lines of a classic EDC. Perfect for a sunny spring or summer morning. Opening is incredibly fresh, revitalizing. In about 40 minutes, sharp citrus gets more rounded thanks to floral background and slowly developing woody-ambery notes. Oakmoss, cedar, and vetiver are here to stay for a drydown, spiced with a gentle lime note. Sillage and longevity are OK - and much more than OK if applied generously. Bottom line - recommended for every age and situation.

Oh, wow. I was not expecting this from a fragrance that has been on the market for nearly 30 years. It smells surprisingly unique. I love citrus summer fragrances. I have (had) quite a few and this one truly sets itself apart from the rest. It is on the lighter side though. So do not expect a performance monster. If you love bright, slightly tart citrus scents, you will love this. The price is also great! A 200ml bottle will set you back only $50-ish. Good bang for your buck.

Simply amazing and highly underrated summer scent . Fresh, juicy, zesty (not soft) lemon and citruses and green notes, very much in style of older classic men's fragrances like Eau Sauvage. Does have similarities to Rochas Original 1949 and reminds me of Lauder for men for some reason. Maybe because it has that classic vintage feel to it while still being pleasing and relevant to this day. Very refreshing and classy, and helps with thirsty feeling during the summer heat.

underrated gem that's perfect for the spring and summer. the lemon-lime in the open is so refreshing that I will sometimes spray this on my chest in the morning to perk me up and brighten the day. it's also green and sparkling from the nice blend of woods and aldehydes. as it dries down, the vetiver and floral notes become more pronounced, while the zesty citrus fades to a quiet murmur. at prices this low, there's really no reason to not have this in your collection.

This is such a beautiful scent on its own. It’s so fresh, airy, citrusy and the wood notes are just so good. Perfect fresh blend and not outdated in the slightest. Performance is very weak.. but for this type of fragrance and honestly the price, it does its job. Layered it with Jimmy Choo Ice, which I am surprised that no one thought it smells like cause they’re almost identical to me, and got a solid 7-8 hour longevity. They’re literally made to be used together.

It's RL Romance Silver with a lemon summer opening. Nice. The more it dries down, the more you'll be reminded of the Silver connection. I was fortunate enough to score a vintage 3.4 oz bottle, so I'll be using sparingly. Word to the wise, if you want to get in on this one, go vintage and buy now. Ebay is flooded with reformulations and the older version is getting hard to find in anything larger than a 1.7 ounce. Look for the white at the top of the box.

Zingy sparkling zesty freshie. I would not say Verbena (a botanical verbena has a sweet lemon candy finish, I'd give verbena to Rocha's cousin Eau de Lancome). This is more towards spearmint mojito and grapefruit out of all things. Breezy, almost aquatic. Soapy, with light vintage but not cloying aldehydes, so safer to blind buy (O de Lacome has more prominent vintage soap) Total unisex. Probably top 3 best freshies existing, including niche. 10/10

I am so happy I purchased Eau De Rochas Homme! I picked all the top fresh citrus fragrances this spring. Just opened 12 fragrances and tested them all. This is in my second place out of the 12. The price is unbeatable for this authentic citrus scent profile. I will venture to say this is perfect for hot days. This was a safe blind buy and would be for anyone in my opinion. There is nothing synthetic about this fragrance. Enjoy the hell out of this.
