Lumiere (2000)

Bright bursts of soapy aldehydes, and a surprisingly youthful rose are the first to enter my space after first spray. There is almost a naive softness to this composition. Its floral components remain palpable; recognizing bold florals with a sense of clarity and openness. It glows with the same enthusiasm one carries to the first day of school, or dons before a first date.Lumiere is befitting a list of life in genesis. Radiating a vibrant white, we find honeysuckle, aldehydes, and tuberose take lead in the opening. The scrubbed hues moving into additional purity with jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Neroli. Even Hyacinth and Vanilla lend a pale powderiness to the base. Exceptional and inexpensive, this little girl seems to moving swiftly into becoming a true lady. And I, having given my ounce of courage towards a blind buy, am the better for it!

Synthetic smelling yet I love it. That might be from the LOTV. It's got a fat juiciness from tuberose, and dusty, powdery rose on a lovely strong cedar base. Honeysuckle is detectable and ylang spiciness also comes through. Lumiere is an interesting feminine floral with strong Y2K vibes. The biggest differences from the og are the additions of rose and vanilla, which make it smell warm and creamy, less indole & less airy, too.

Remind me a lot GHOST THE FRAGRANCE (by Tanya Sarne). Rose+ Softly Aldehydes+ Cedar and Vanilla = Lumière or GHOST? This is one of those scents that is inexplicable. Reminds me of the past, living things, good memories. It makes me nostalgic! I LOVE THESE TWO FRAGRANCES! 4,5****/ 5*****

In the realm of light, sweet roses, Rochas Lumiere is in a similar genre as Rochas Tocade, L'Eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum, and Elie Saab Le Parfum Rose Couture: a light and fresh floral rose. Somehow, though, it doesn't quite work for me. It produces a very alcoholic first blast and then starts the drydown just a little flat or solvent-y or something that I don't know how to describe, except to say that I find it a little yucky. As it dries down further, it becomes a pretty, light, fresh rose, but to me, it lacks something and seems sort of thin. I love the rich vanilla rose of Tocade, the fruity-fresh pear-rose of L'Eau d'Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum, and the lightly gourmand fresh caramel-rose of Rose Couture. Lumiere is nice but just not enough for me; it doesn't make my heart sing. So I'll be passing it along to my daughter, stepdaughter, sister, or any number of perfume-lovers in my life.

While everyone is complaining who bad it is, I am kicking myself for getting a 50 ml bottle, in stead of my usual 100. This is an absolutely lovely shypre, zesty and deep at the same time, very unique. This fragrance would definitely appeal to the fans of Y by YSL as they share some silmilarities in character. Great sillage and longevity! after 2 hours it still goes on strong, but changes into a warmer,sweeter rosy scent. Beautiful! So far I have been consistently happy with Rochas, even their new formulas.

Wow these reviews. I have this perfume and it is one of my favorites. I always get compliments whenever i wear this. May be it's my body chemistry but i absolutely love this one. It smells sexy but in a clean way. Unlike those heavy floral/ sugar overloaded scents tagged as sexy. This one is classy and unique.

i think Aldehydes and Hyacith don't go together in my opinion their to strong of substance it's like a power keg going off it just make me have a headache but the drydown is nice smells almost like Giorgio of Beverly Hills but more heavier and with more Aldehydes

Not entirely sure about this scent. On my skin it’s like a sour rose which is not too inviting. I tried using the scent as a house scent and it’s much better that way.

Another member of the category MISTAKES WERE MADE, Rochas LUMIERE holds the dubious distinction of being the grossest fragrance in my collection. My 1.7oz edt bottle is nearly full, and this one is sooooo very bad that I cannot even stand to test it on my skin. A spritz on a kleenex suffices to demonstrate the nocent qualities of this potion. The very thought of letting this possibly toxic liquid come in contact with my skin fills me with anxiety, evoking memories of the plight of Gulf War Syndrome victims... Has my bottle turned? Or is the reformulation no more and no less than a noxious chemical soup? Either way, I retain the bottle as a note to self: do not buy fragrances scent unsniffed!

I bought a massive 100ml bottle of this many years back, because, well, I thought that smelling like turkish delight was a good idea. I've still got some left, I did try to make it work as a linen spray, even that failed. I don't know why anyone would want to wear this when there are so many other beautiful perfumes out there! Does it smell like Ghost? Oh well, there's another one for me to avoid... :-D

Not much to add here - except for a word of caution: This brutally reformulated scent has absolutely NOTHING in common with the original, I can't understand why they've chosen to use the same name for a totally new perfume. This new scent might appeal to people not hoping for "old" Lumiere so PM me if you want to give it ago - I've got a 5ml boxed mini to swap or sell.

Light floral. The Damask rose note is the most noticeable mixed with the lily-of-the-valley note lightness. I can't say that I like this fragrance. It seems to me too light. And I would say that it smells simply.

I sold my flacon via Ebay, as on me it smelled like insecticide. IMO the rose and the peach don't mix very well in this one, making a bizarre concoction.

there is something off about this fragrance, it smells like roses& alcohol. i am not a fan but seems to work for other people.

Lumiere Eau de Parfum! could be a little sister to D&G femme classic (red cap). Great but soft aldehydes and fresh flowernotes. Compared to D&G classic Lumiere EdP is a bit softer and a little bit shortlived, about 5 hours on my skin (D&G 12 hours+). If you find it - try it. Lumiere Eau de Toilette! Great deep, unsweet and a bit dark flowernotes. Lumiere EdT is for grown-up girls =). Very nice and a perfect every-day-scent or office-scent. Lumiere Eau de Parfum! kan vara en lillasyster till D&G femme classic (med klarröd kork). Fina tydliga men lite mjuka aldehyder och fräscha blomnoter. Jämförd med D&G Classic, så är Lumiere EdP lite mjukare och lite mindre hållbar på huden, ca 5 timmar på mig. (D&G 12 timmar+). Om du hittar den- prova den. Lumiere Eau de Toilette! Superfin med djupa osöta och lite mörka blomnoter. Lumiere EdT är för vuxna tjejer. Otroligt fin och en perfekt varje-dag-doft eller kontors-doft.

I had a bottle some 10 years ago, which I kept and sniffed from time to time, but I never really wore..I ended up swapping it with a friend and she absolutely loved it! It is a really interesting scent, yet, I did not know where to put it, what to do with it. It is sharp, in the beginning gives you a synthetic impression, but when that is gone it is pleasant - yet as it is only fresh and clean (maybe too clean even? )it`s really not something that was worth keeping at that point..I think I`d gladly have a bottle now, just to see again what I gave away..I remember no rose in there anyway, just aldehydes, honeysuckle and something distinctly sharp, that made the perfume really unique and made me puzzled. And can`t put the finger on it..

ravenrose, lumiere is a good choice, yet very difficult to find these days. I used to wear the previous version of lumiere, it was awesome you not only smell the rose notes but also the hacinth and narcissus.. . but the fact is that I really don ́t know if this is the same smell or aroma as the classic and original lumiere I strongly belive the narcissus notes, which were very very beautiful and used to give this perfume its personality have dissapeared in this version.it is a sad thing which occurs with reformulations..

Lumiere or "The Light" is a simple beautiful fragrance. Roses - old fashioned roses and I say it utterly respectfully - delicately blended with hyacinths. Peaches give fruity accords and accompany the flowers to the fabulous drydown. Incredibly long lasting.

This perfume is bright and sunny - it's name is spot on. Wellbalanced - just the right ammount of sweetness, flovernotes and greens. This is the perfum for every woman and age. More of a daytime scent but could work for evning as well.

I couldn't wait to try this however, when I did it smelled like stale wine that had been sitting out for too long. I have tried several times to like it but that is all I get. Good luck for those who can wear it I wish I could.

I can't say anything really nice about this. Smelt very synthetic. A cold, fizzy, pungent floral. One to definately test before you buy. Not a fan, there are many more beautiful scents than this.

Clean and powdery rose. I thought it would have a more "old perfume" smell but I was wrong. It is a fragances for all women, no matter what is their age. Fresh, joyful and very good rose scent.

very foral and sexy, yet classic. people stop to ask the name of perfume.light and romantic.

Excuse me: why Lumiere is "for women" and Lumier Intense is "for women and Man" ???
