Moustache Original 1949

Only recently gaining interest in fragrances, this was a blind buy along with the newer formula of the Moustache EDP. This is citrus and light florals - for a mild and airy backdrop to experience the sunny days of spring and summer. Moustache is refreshing against the warmer months' heat and humidity, when you don't want to be sickened by a heavy perfume filling your nostrils in the thick warm air! Being a lemon based scent, it only lasts for two hours before I'm nose-blind to it being on me. This might be because I'm used to lemons as background noise to my sense of smell, and maybe others might notice it lasting longer? Overspraying is definitely welcomed with this EDT, as I find the lemon, lavender, and moss as too calm and fresh to become overpowering or offensive. This one is relatively basic, and I don't imagine it'll grab any compliments out loud. But conversely, this subtlety might give the impression that you just happen to smell fresh. It definitely helped me feel that way when wearing throughout the day. Apologies if this is too much info, but I found after heavy outdoor work while wearing Moustache EDT - it didn't mask my sweat, but surprisingly enhanced it to become less salty. Rather than just smelling like lemons, my own scent became a bit more pleasant. So I would suggest this as a transparent fragrance, where it'll add a sense of cool citrus freshness to the existing smells rather than competing to mask anything. It's definitely weird, but I think this aspect helps it become a more versatile and subtle fragrance to use! I was not expecting a fragrance to offer this kind of chemistry. Looking at my small collection - this 1949 scent is very fresh, similar to Dior’s Eau Sauvage from 1966 which I also recently purchased blind. I would say comparing the two, Dior's lasts a little bit longer by an hour. Otherwise they have a different approach in how they present the freshness of a lemon - Moustache is almost equal in lavender and lemon for a more sparkling concept, whereas Dior is more mysterious with the jasmine and rose suggesting the initial thought of lemon is hiding something more, but you can't quite figure it out. Both are good in subtly different ways, and I can't recommend one over the other! Also they're apparently both created by the perfumer Edmond Roudnitska - so it might be worth getting both to see how these related creations can tell the story of 17 years apart? As for the recently created collection of Moustache: I highly recommend having both EDP and EDT options in your collection - I'll write more about the comparison of these two on the 2018 Moustache EDP's page. The warmer-scented EDP is definitely designed to compliment this one through the use of oranges, feeding into the modern need for day/night and summer/winter options with this set! I found it interesting how this vintage EDT was a stand alone piece for many years, and then the new 2018 creation was released to help categorize the original one - instead of the old school idea of being recognized by one signature scent, it seems they acknowledge some people want to have the options for different occasions. And in this case, it certainly works!

I've long been a big fan of Dior's Eau Sauvage Cologne and (by scent profile relation) Xerjoff's Nio. I love that classic sweet citrus sherbet vibe that you get with both of them and I love wearing them (sometimes layered) in the Spring and Summer. Some people of course perceive that scent profile as dated (I say classic) and in fact my wife says it reminds her of citrus disinfectants and cleaning products so I can understand why some other people relate this to wet wipes or nappies. ;))) If like me you 'do' like that classic Eau Sauvage, YSL Pour Homme vibe then here's the thing... To my nose, although there are slight differences in dry down, at the top, Moustache EDT is ' very ' close in scent profile to the two aforementioned fragrance's I own. Dior Eau Sauvage Cologne is different from the EDT, it feels lighter to me and has more of the bergamot citrus sherbet vibe that I prefer. If you too like that, then I'm pretty sure that you will like Moustache EDT. Will it last as long as Eau Sauvage Cologne? not quite. However, on my skin it's very respectable and close enough to Eau Sauvage Cologne as to not make a difference. You have to consider though, that your getting 125ml of juice for only £35.00 and IMO you'd need to be churlish to complain about that. Everyone's different of course, but to my nose there are no negatives regarding Moustache EDT. The fragrance I purchased brought no drama and smells nothing like a wet nappy and has no animalic stench - maybe the reviewers who commented on that were unlucky and received a bad or outdated batch, or like my wife, relate this fragrance scent profile to cleaning products? CONCLUSION | ★★★ If your looking for a fresh clean Spring/Summer scent with a profile similar to Eau Sauvage Cologne, Dior Homme and Nio that also offers exceptional value for money then you should definitely be considering Moustache EDT. Have a great day folks! ;)

Oh yes, this one is great! Lemon sherbet, fresh and zingy with a surprising weight and depth to it. The heat in London currently is 30+ degrees and it’s been killing my summer freshies but I’ve had this on for the day today and with 5 sprays, it’s been with me for 8 hours or so ..... and I’m amazed! It certainly has a slightly old school vibe about it but also manages to have a modern twist. Although not listed in the notes, I definitely get a minty accord in amongst the citrus which I find lovely. As has been noted below, it’s very much in the same vein as Nina Ricci Signoricci, Lalique pour Homme Lion and to a degree, Eau Sauvage by the same nose but then again, given that this was originally formulated in 1949, it’s the others that are following Moustache Original really. It’s almost like a diet version of TF Beau de Jour (signature version) in some respects too. The patch, moss and musk in the base are clearly giving this a degree of heft in the dry-down, extending its longevity in the heat but that doesn’t impact on the fresh vibe at all & there’s just the right amount of lavender in this for me personally, without the fragrance veering into fougere territory, which isn’t my bag at all. Ultimately, I have to say that at a shade over £30 in the UK for a 125ml bottle, it’s a complete no-brainer for spring and summer & I’ve already ordered another bottle as it’s not that widely available, which really surprises me. If you like your summer juice with a slightly old school touch, yet relevant for modern day too, I’d be hard pushed to recommend something else anywhere near this price and quality. The EDP from this line is great too but this one has really impressed me hugely. Big thumbs up from me 👍

This recently arrived and I'm really pleased. I'd had a bad Moustache experience previously. Having read about this classic, I located a bottle of the EDT Concentree a few years ago. While I could just make out what it was meant to be, it was a sad failure. The only note that lingered after the first minute was a vague, almost leathery funk. Rochas seems to have pulled it back together for this reissue, however, and it's a beauty. It is LIGHT--maybe twice as strong as a Guerlain eau de cologne. If pressed, I might describe it as Eau de Cologne du Coq meets Eau Sauvage, except the dry neroli and citrus of the eau has become sweeter and lemony. As you might expect, much of the exhilaration comes with that first citrus burst, but the dry down is comfortable, comforting, and beautiful. If you're a hater of the old-school fresh-over-funky genre, don't even bother, obviously. But if you appreciate classic masculine perfumery, snap this up while it's readily available for just over US$20. It's worth it for the current presentation alone, in a simple, elegant, and heavy bottle that will improve the real estate on top of your dresser immensely and can be used to ward off an intruder in a pinch. While this is not going to excite anyone or be anyone's signature scent, you'll love having it around and using it. When it gets warmer, at shower/shave time I'll be wandering around in just my sandals and my Moustache.

I trusted the community and blind bought this on sale since I really dig Dior Eau Sauvage, but I find it to be too expensive for me to wear it casually on a daily basis. Well, considering the size of my collection, I don't wear any fragrance on a daily basis but that's a different story. Point is, I liked the idea of a cheaper alternative in the "Eau Sauvage" category and because I like Rochas and the Rochas Moustache EdP specifically, I pulled the trigger on this one. And I am not disappointed. The first spray of Moustache EdT immediately hit me with the Eau Sauvage vibe. I hadn't smelled the original in a while, but the resemblance only judging by my memory was so close that I thought to myself I wouldn't even need to get the original anymore. On further inspection, after pulling out my bottle of the original Eau Sauvage and smelling both side by side, the original turns out to be smoother and softer, I would even describe it as a bit more floral. Especially in the opening, the Moustache EdT is much sharper and more citrusy than Eau Sauvage. But still, Moustache EdT bears an uncanny resemblance to Eau Sauvage. All in all, Moustache EdT is a great cheap alternative for getting the Eau Sauvage vibe in casual situations, which allows me to save my original bottle for special occasions.

i just got this the other day.. it is such a good really tangy sharp lemon, mixed in with kitchen herbs like a herbal rub of thyme and others made for putting on a roast chicken, there's a spicyness, and even some florals being maybe lavender and a touch of iris. there's this hazy spiciness throughout it and also it's got a touch of dirtiness and warmth. its an envigorating kinda outdoorsy macho man scent, its in a way a country smelling style scent with its kitchen herbs and warmth. there is no doubt to this being a masculine scent. this is certainly a bit of a rougher outdoorsy man type scent like for a guy who chops logs and has a moustache. and a woodstove in the kitchen. there is also a youthfullness to this scent as well freshness underneath. it would probably be classified as a citrusy spicy. or a chypre generally. or a citrus chypre fougere. the light floral elements and a certain sweetness under there gives great contrast.. i think it can be worn just about anyplace, or in most environments. the new bottle is quite impressive even with a heavy metal cap and 4.2 oz! very nice of Rochas to get this one going again and hopefully it stays in their permanent classics lineup like other fragrance houses keep their old masterpieces as well.

Classy, fresh, and “old school.” Moustache is a bright, lively fragrance with a classic character. For those unfamiliar with it, you could think of it in the same style as Dior Eau Sauvage. They offer slightly different experiences – Moustache feels lighter and more linear – but they are not very different. Despite its vintage roots, Moustache is not overplayed and remains less well-known than Eau Sauvage, and its quality at the current price is excellent. I enjoy the opening more than the dry down – very zingy and lively. I’ve been wearing it a lot during spring and summer. On my first day at a social event, I received three compliments from female friends, aged 21, 32, and 45, proving that, even as a 50+ year-old fragrance, it still resonates and entices a varied crowd. Performance is not very strong, but that’s expected for a fresh fragrance and it’s not disappointing. I get around five to six hours, and I’m happy to reapply rather than wear something synthetic and long-lasting. Lighter, fresher scents often feel harsh when synthetic, so it’s refreshing that Moustache stays natural, clean, and appealing throughout its wear.

So this is my second bottle. The first was a lemon blast on the opening and thick lavender with a mossy and musky base. This second bottle i feel is reformulated. i LOVE this one. Its way more bergamot and lemon together bright and that unmistakable clean barbershop masculine quality. Its changing and i get Neroli in the mid the way I NEVER did on the original bottle i got 3 years ago. Also, i get a nice scent bubble and the night air is low 50's. Very surprised with this. I bought another as a gift and keeping this one i love so much. The presentation most can agree is first rate. Also, this allows me to move away from Beau Di Jour Tom Ford as the price quality proposition is fantastic and i dont have to do the 165 for TF . Moustache Edt is a fine compliment to the Edp version with the amber juice. Now i have both. This forumulation is citrus and flowery with Neroli with the lavender and slight filth in the musk . My final thought is....8.5 out of 10 . This version i have now in 2023 was a welcome surprise and im proud to own it. Will rock it also after my haircuts too. Got a feeling this'll shine in the summer :) cant wait.

Just got this and this is my first impression: I was expecting it to be a fragrance more on the daring side, however, to my surprise, Moustache is a very smooth, sophisticated perfume. Opens up with a sweet citrus note that is reminiscent to lemon flavored sweets. In other words the opening is simple, I would even call it basic. After some minutes smell starts developing into something more complex. That's when the other notes start coming up, nicely blending with one another, creating a more complex fresh and uplifting barbershop-y smell. One downside could be the performance, but you can always reapply. A great throwback for which I am thankful to the house of Rochas. I am still wishing that they will one day bring back a long discontinued fragrance called Monsier Rochas, which in my book is the best perfume ever created. Either way, highly suggest you checking this one out if you enjoy non-linear citrus fougeres that have some old school vibe going on and if you don't mind reapplying from time to time. Cheers!

Citrus-Lavender Cologne Vibes with a Leather-y Tannic Accord... The write-up calls this "suitably tannic" and I would agree. Some would call this barbershop. Under the fresh burst of citrus, there's a leather-y tannic accord that's likely coming from the lavender-patchouli, as it leans to lavender-tea/leather. The tannins here are powdery and leather-like and darken into a licorice-y pool as the citrus slowly fades. This benefits from dark storage after first sprays to improve performance, after which I'm getting arm's length or better projection for about 5-6 hours of moderate performance with arms length or better projection for the first three hours. Anyone could wear this, but it's also suitable as a gift for a man and I recently gave a bottle to my Dad, but there's a timeless quality that I think any age could wear this. Smells so good. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I love Moustache Original 1949. It is one of the most intriguing fragrances I own and was a blind buy. The lemon contradicts the patchouli and moss, creating a scent that is antique, completely out of synch with modern trends and definitely a little pissy/funky/musky. On my skin every now and again I get a vague, powdery hint of Lapidus Pour Homme's lavender note somewhere in the middle. Although the two are nothing alike, MO1949 appeals to me in the same way that Salvador Dali Pour Homme does: it's something dramatic, peculiar and slightly seedy from days gone by. It is the smell you'd expect walking into the dusty, plumbing-free attic room of an old Parisian artist in the early 1920s. He's lying on the bed snoring, still wearing last night's lemon cologne but unconscious and sweaty from a night on the absinthe. That type of vibe.

#153 in my "Tour de Fragrance" and I like this scent much more than I expected. It's a spicy, woody, citrus you've smelled a dozen times, but among the classic aromatic fougeres the best projection, at six feet for several hours, and best longevity out there, holding on as a skin scent for 12 hours. Definitely a safe blind buy and full bottle purchase worthy at a good price. Lots of compliments, but along the lines of "it's nice". Classic scents like this are so very familiar that no one who smells this will rave about it, let alone rip off their clothes. But I think it's a perfect office scent. It's a little old fashioned but not in a sixties oriental kind of way. Could be a signature scent if your fifty and up. Definitely would be pretentious on a teen/twenties man.

This is a great old school barbershop fougere! It starts sparkling fresh, like a lemon ginger feel and then the lavender and the moss come out and make it more green, sweet and muscy. The opening is breathtaking! Longevity and projection are moderate. It's an all year round scent, a signature scent for all occasions and in my opinion for a grown man (40+). It's very masculine and clean fresh! Overall, i can appreciate the scent, i think this is great quality and for 25-30 euros this is a steal but it's not for me. I am not at all a fan of fougeres and this is a classic fougere, i will give it a lot opportunities to make up my mind. If you are a fan of fougeres just buy this, it will not disappoint you!

There’s so much love for this fragrance online and I decided to buy this. I received my purchase today and I wanted to sample this. This is my second Rochas purchase. My first one Rochas Man (is now known as the butt plug looking cologne thanks to my cousin) is such a gourmand scent. I was expecting similar. Well... This is incredible. It’s beautiful. I love this. This is a very beautiful lemon scent mixed with lavender. You can smell the bergamot and the violet but it’s a secondary players in this show. Pinned by the moss and musk. The patchouli isn’t a major scent to me but then again give it some more time and I’m sure it’ll make its presence known.

Just got this one today, mostly because I love Eau Sauvage. It's indeed similar, but much more soapy powdery, just as the main accords section above suggests. However, you still get that signature green citrusy aromatic floral accord that you find in Eau Sauvage. You can definitely tell they were initially created by the same perfumer. Now, compared to Boucheron, it's much smoother, without those strong raspy mossy vintage notes. In fact, neither Eau Sauvage, nor Moustache Original smell vintage to me, because of the clever way Edmond used Oakmoss in these two, which I can't say about Boucheron though.

Top tier scent, price for value is fantastic. Many will have the original 1949 confused with the new EDP but they are complete opposites. This reminds me of a fresh and clean scent, definitely a daily scent, perfect for that summer and spring freshness without that heavy scent feeling. Though could easily be used all year round. Not the showstopper and that's where the value comes. Just a solid scent for the wearer. Definitely in my top 10 scents, last long and won't become tiring after multiple consecutive uses. EDP is phenomenal as well, strongly recommend both if it fits the budget.

Fabulous! This fragrance smells fantastic. From the sherbot opening, which is intriguing and different than nowadsays fragrances, to the heart of lavender that muddled up with the lemon, ending with that musky base. Each stage is a blast to smell. Can't stop from recommending this, as it important to have one in your waredrobe, or at least smelling it! The performance is good. The sillage isn't choking me and those around me; present and noticeable. And the longevity is respectable. Nothing jaw-dropping. But it is something that will persist through your workday.

So many men's lemon fragrances are 'spiced up' until they smell like salad dressing. They kept it under control here, more smooth/musky than spicy. • I'm not sure why people are criticizing it for "lacking mass appeal". Perhaps they are fresh out of the teen club fragrance world? Or just reviewing the macho name without testing it? This is as polite and gentlemanly as it gets. This is loungeroom piano cologne.

revel in the glory of a soapy, citrusy lavender floral fougere. Unabashedly old-fashion but damn its so good. Does what a great cologne should do, smells great, makes you feel great, doesn't encroach on others (niche sillage monster lovers be damned) but I do get subtle longevity, which is really all I want from a fragrance. I'm wearing today, had to choose something to wear for a Broadway matinee, and now 9 hours later I can still smell it on myself.

At last the original moustache is back! This scent is simply amazing for spring & summer time! The perfumer edmmond rudinstka later created eau sauvage by dior & we can say moustache is the big brother of eau sauvage ! Also i can say signoricci by nina ricci is close to moustache ! Oldies but worthy! Hail to King moustache! Thanks to rochas for releasing again this timeless scent & i hope next will he monsieur de rochas !

Lemon juice on a background of lavender musk and moss. It's mature and polite, kind of dated. A powdery and slightly bitter composition. Suitable for spring and summer. No replacement of Eau Sauvage. Performs like a modern day edt. You gotta love fougères to like this. Can't think of a situation in which wearing this can be a good idea. If you have a grand father, give it to him, you'll make his day.

Oh wow - I have wanted this for a long time and finally found it. I really think this smells like Eau Sauvage. To my nose, I can’t tell much of a difference. Lemon is such a difficult note to capture in perfumery. It’s just too fragile. On my skin, Moustache ‘49 only lasts a couple of hours and doesn’t project far, just like Eau Sauvage. The only difference - it’s about 70% cheaper than ES.

Purchased this gem while intending to buy the EDP. I was worried I wouldn't like it but I actually like it more than the EDP, which I purchased later on. I like wearing this scent to church as it feels old fashioned and modern at the same time, while also being an unoffensive scent that can fit into traditional environments while still being signature ad unique.

This was a blind buy and it's pretty much what I expected! It absolutely has a similarity to Eau Sauvage but smells slightly rougher. It opens up with a blast of sweet lemon. The dry down is very soapy. It doesn't last all that long on my skin so this is one that I will wear when I want to stay in. I got the 75 ml for $17. Can't go wrong with a price like that!

Moustache Original 1949 by Rochas is a vintage scent that still feels fresh. It opens with sharp lemon, bergamot, and lavender, like a classic barbershop. As it dries down, warm notes of oakmoss, patchouli, musk, and tonka bean add depth. It’s often compared to Dior's Eau Sauvage but comes at a more affordable price.

The opening is musky Lemonheads candy, and I mean this in the most loving way—its marvelous. Holy smokes, this is delectable. It's a barbershop-style aromatic, so I won't gripe about performance or longevity. Moustache Original 1949 will be my scent for the summer.

I find this version infinitely better than the EdP version. Which seems to me to be totally mainstream... I simply can't stand it. The original version seems to me unique, undoubtedly worthy of being among the great timeless fragrances of perfumery.

This is such a great fragrance. It's has this classic manly, non-offensive "dry" lemon note that permeates throughout the life of the fragrance. It's the third day and I can still smell it on my t-shirt, everytime I open the hamper.

Wonderful smell overall, very very citrusy that eventually dives into a deeper and woody-er musk. Don't buy this if you want something strong/bold though, there are better fragrances out there for that. This one is more subtle.

Classic scent and I totally love it. Sharp lemon, lavender, moss, and musk. Smells like a 1950s Italian Mafia boss.

Smells like lemon sorbet. Love it. The bottle weighs a ton. The cap alone could be used as a anchor 9/10

The easiest way to put this is it's a cleaner version of the original Moustache and the Concentrée. The opening and heart of the new stuff smells like citrus fruit, where the old smells like overripe fruit. The drydown of the new stuff smells like fresh hay, where the old smells like hay in a barn. You guys who are getting the urinal cake thing? Imagine one that hasn't been flushed and you'll know how it used to smell. In other words, the civet is missing. Not necessarily a bad thing given modern tastes but, you know, some of us actually like that vaguely erotic animal musk from yesteryear. The new 1949 is a very nice fougère done in the the classic style. Starts with lemon and bergamot which immediately bring Eau Sauvage to mind, but it's a fleeting comparison. It has a similar feel to Eau Sauvage in the opening and far drydown, but the majority is a different animal. 1949's lavender comes through and gives a doughier, powdery feel with coumarin and patchouli rounding out their part of the fern accord. Longevity is quite good for me, as it lasts over 8 hours. Wears close by the end, but people will notice it when they're in your personal space. All in all, I think it's a nice modernization of one of Roudnitska's (and his wife Thérèse, who shouldn't be forgotten) old masterpieces. It gives the same vibes off, just in a little different way. It's lacking the dirty musk and the urinous civet, but that's probably better for a lot of people. And really, I'd imagine that's what Rochas set out to do. It pays homage to one of the greatest perfumers who ever lived by giving younger generations a taste of the way things were. It may not be Roudnitska's Moustache, but it's not far off and it's a very nice tribute.

ADDENDUM to review below: I didn't think this fragrance could get any better but part of me wished it was just a little more soapy and just a tad bit not quite as bitter of a sour lemon note during the opening. Then one day I was wearing one of my other favorites ... Lalique Pour Homme ... definitely a soapy clean masterpiece ... and later that evening I gave Mustache EDT a few sprays ... the layering of these two was PERFECTION! Don't get me wrong ... they are both excellent fragrances on their own but the 2 layered together is a match made in Heaven. Check it out! So UNIQUE! This goes on with a different opening citrus note ... it's sour ... almost slightly bitter but within seconds comes the lavender and other herbal notes ... a beautiful violet mixes with the citrus and lavender ... very simple, fresh and invigorating yet unique. Finally ... a fresh, citrus, floral scent that isn't sweet! The unique part comes within 30-45 minutes that all of these notes stay present but subdued ... then enters the masculine musk, moss and patchouli. It becomes a pleasant masculine and CLASSIC fresh scent and because of the lavender mixing with the musk it becomes slightly barbershopy. This is a great, GREAT simple Spring and Summer fragrance. It projects well and lasts 5-6 hours with even 4-6 sprays. This fragrance is an an old school vibe so people who love the strong, sweet vanilla scents or real young guys probably shouldn't blind buy it. For me ... I'm wearing it now in June in San Antonio, TX and would give it an 8/10.

Well ... I bought this by mistake. I ordered it Online with the EDP in Mind ... I didn't knew that a EDT 2018 re-launch version was made honestly so I just went for the bottle (SAME EFFIN BOTTLE JUST THE CAP CHANGES IN SHADE) When it arrived today I was expecting the sweet Creamy Vanilla and the Patchouli ...... yet I got this citrussy fresh and nerolish barbershop splash. Dont get me wrong, I liked the scent a lot... but it felt like when you go to Grandma's House and open the fridge.... There you see a Nice Jar filled with "Cherry Kool-Aid" .... You grab a Glass and poured yourself some of it.... You pit the Jar back and close the door. When you sip it ... You discover that the Jar contained CRANBERRY JUICE FROM CONCENTRATED ..... I like them Both! But my mind was expectinf Kool-Aid. Im keeping it because is a nice addition to my collection. It gives me this Old School Vibe. It reminds me of my Grandfather (which was my paternal figure actually since my Biological father never took care of me) .... My Grampa was the one who took me to my FIRST Barbershop Haircut .... This perfume smells just like that Day. It doesnt last too much but for the price I just overspray and it performs really nice. Its a daytime all year around relaxed and "vibing" out type of smell .... wearing Linen shorts with sandals and a Cotton Vneck Shirt while walking around an island vacationing spot. In conclusion: I cant be specific or technical on this Review ... I just went to the Vibe/Emotions the scent brings.

Indeed, a modernized, slightly cleaner take on the (real) original (I have the EDT Concentree to compare). Blast of lemon supported by lavender, similar to the vintage EDTC and definitely masculine at that stage. The base will have a shy soapy green-ness (moss and musk), supported by a hint of patchouli, and a very noticeable resinous note (probably bezoin). That said, at that stage, it's quite distant from the vintage, with the 'soapy greens' toned down and the light plastick-y animalics fully swapped for an amber-y base a-la Eau de Rochas. Aside of the other versions of Moustache, this could obviously be compared to a plethora of old school citrus/floral fragrances (YSL PH, Dior Eau Sauvage, AdP Colonia...) but to my nose, the two that result the closest to my nose are Boucheron PH EDT and Eau de Rochas PH, which both have some resins in the base that will soften the edges. Performance is moderate, as expected for a citrusy Summer fragrance. As I underlined, quite redundant with many other citrus fragrances, but at under $20 a pop, it might do the job for noses looking for a more metrosexual/unisex take on Moustache. That said, no valid reason to get that one if one already owns the vintage, that I personally find much superior, and more masculine.

Very classy summer freshie - old-school and gentlemanly. Lemon bomb in the opening - harsh zesty cold lemon blast, with hints of that animalic oldies - very refreshing yet classy. This is where people draw the line with Eau Sauvage or AdP Colonia even - mostly because those are the most popular fragrances that open similarly, but the resemblance ends here IMO. The Lemon note might seem screechy, or offensive even to some people, but for people looking for this exact this old-school cologne presentation - is to die for. Moustrache 1949 leans towards classic barbershop fragrances with soapy Lavender and that old-school Mossy base. It's a great Lemon-Lavender scent that's fresh, classy, and decently performing (longevity-wise) for the genre. Doesn't project much though. Good choice for a summer white shirt attire.

This a Great Fragrance, Fresh, Citrusy, Clean and Nostalgic. Edmond Roudnitska Created this Classic Fougère before Eau Sauvage for Rochas, In my opinion, Eau Sauvage is A MASTERPIECE in the History of perfumery. Overall, This review is based on the new reformulation Moustache bottle. It opens up with fresh citrusy, zesty and floral notes in background then dry down is slightly sweet, Earthy, musky. I bought it blind-buy after watching on YouTube and reading the positive comments, I don't care about negative comments or fake comments, If you check and read information about all of the perfumes, You can find many fake comments! Please ignore the negative comments. I really enjoy it and I'm so happy that I have it in my collection. Longevity is good, Highly Recommended. Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 / 10

Your dream starts out with you in a thick cloud of fog. You hear the pleasant sound of a fountain. The fog begins to clear and you find yourself inside a well kept dojo. A soft bamboo flute plays in the background. Suddenly, the door slides open to reveal a shadowy figure. The figure makes his way into the light. It’s Bruce Lee! Bruce slowly approaches you... you wake up, but not before you notice the distinct scent of Moustache Original radiating off Lee’s glistening chest. I told you that story to let you know that this is what Bruce Lee most likely smelled like in his prime. Yes, it’s that powerful.

What starts as a sparkling fresh ode to lemon flavoured candy, momentarily becomes a traditional Eau de Farina cologne, before thankfully mustering into an oakmoss, patchouli, musk grind. There is a nice balance for those who enjoy a bit of sweat to their Farina. This beautiful bottle of heft and design deserves accolades, and Rochas for its audacity to present Moustache Original 1949 as a contemporary scent. More power to those who appreciate timeless tradition. What’s old is new again, at least in essence.

I will second most of what Rockmyer says, below. This is a very plesant, office friendly scent. The patchouli in the base is a nice, clean, non-earthy patchouli that works well with whatever aromachemicals are adding the muskieness and standing in for the oak moss. Presentation is great. This fragrance is far better than the others in the Moustache line and is a huge value at the prices for which it is offered on the discount websites. Full bottle worthy. Year round appropriate. All ages. A classic reborn.

This is a nice blend of light aromatics. On my skin, lime and lavender are very prominent. It also smells very similar to Boucheron EDP but a milder version of it. I like how it smells: fresh, clean, and soapy. Nice fragrance to have in your collection. P.S. I gave this another detailed try an it smells much like lemon candy with a dab of musk :) So if you like to smell like lemon candy then this is it. It's very unisex leaning a bit toward masculine side. Still I think women can pull this off easily.

Rochas Monsieur Original (1949) - Lavandin Violet - #edmondroudnitska crafts a traditional chypre-like structure, incorporating Lavandin (an eucalyptus-like scent similar to lavender), Moss, Patchouli, and Violets. His signature spiced accord, reminiscent of Cumin and animalic musk, adds depth to the fragrance. This reformulated version is undoubtedly cleaner than his usual offerings, yet it still complements a clean-shaven fougere accord effectively.

If you like Gillette Barbershop Fresh shaving foam and want to smell like a somewhat more upscale version of that for several hours, get Rochas Moustache EDT. I'm sometimes in the mood for that, so I'm glad to have it in my collection. If I remember correctly, Canoe smells a bit like that shaving foam too, except a little more like baby wipes, so if you want a more upscale and less baby-wipes version of Canoe, this is a good one too.

Very nice, likeable, classy, manly. The initial citrus blast is not my favourite, but not bad... the drydown is all about lavender, musk, and the patchouli gives it a slight depth and sweetness, but not too much. This one is wearable all around the year. Longevity is not too good, and it's a skin scent, so you need to overspray it... like... 10+ sprays at least. It has not similarity to the new Moustache

This really will take you back to the old days of men's perfumery: it's a classic barbershop fougere, with lavender and moss and bergamot. The heavy doses of white musk and neroli make this seem quite powdery and from a different era. This would smell great on the right guy.

Simplified description: Initially like the citrus candy Refreshers, later it ́s a lemony soapy green frag. Impossible to overspray, so go crazy on your body. Minimum 10 on body for somewhat acceptable longevity. But for better longevity, spray on fabric.

Another summertime barbershop banger! That opening sweet lemon notes is the most realistic lemon I’ve ever smelled. Projection and sillage are on the moderate side but at the current price go crazy and don’t worry about reapplying throughout the day.
