the famous nose Anne Flippo did another great job here ! i didn't even remember well of this wonderful scent in my storage very behind in the dark and almost forgotten ohhh, what a shame on me! this happens when one has too mutch scents in collection... but treasures get burried and lost to get burried out and discovered again some day, as it had happened this lovely sunny wintermorning when having clearout of my tons of bath & beauty items. ;P and this one is a keeper for shure. poupée! the bottle is soooo cute, wanna pet it instantly. this is a wonderful clean and very juicy, floral slight powdery scent, all about icecream and plushy barbie-dreams of childhood inbeeded in sultry feminity. definitively no plastic smell like in cheap perfumes. guess people who are reviewing this are inspired and missleaded by the name and package or they think about the benzoin when they believe smelling plastic? but it isn't! this perfume hasn't got even the slightest alcohlish smell in the top or something else unpleasent as lots of other scents do have almost caused by the scent fixer. this is not a girlish scent, it is soft and feminine and somehow powerful at same time. it could easely suit a romantic but unconcentional bride too and i can imagine marie antoinette wrapped in poupée when she takes long walks through her wonderful gardens full of soft pink and white flowers. the frozen pinapple-juice, creamy lemon-ice with slightly sugared powder lays on your skin like a soft embrace. hints of woody and earthy accords staying very in the background. the top: the juice opens with freezy pinapple and creamy orangeblossom! full of joy! it uplifts your mood instantly. the heart: middlenotes with powdery tuberose and precious shy rose are stepping in to stay there, close to your skin, spreading waves of luminous gardenia and sweet jasmine with a hint of nutmeg by every moove you make. the bottom: the base is well done with a round and smooth sandalwood, amber and benzoin. someone suggested similarity to a Burberry Scent, yes it has indeed some similarity with Burberry Brit Sheer, but i wouldn't say that they are sisters. poupée is bolder, has a mutch stronger appeal and it tells a very different story... it's almost linear pure delicious fruity floral from top to bottom! by wearing poupée you will let creamy powdery trails behind you, innocent and sexy at the same time. a truly very unconventional and not very known scent what makes it even more attractive for me. definitely not only a summer scent. i can easely where it in colder winter month and i enjoy it a lot by pampering myself at home or hanging around with friends in a coffeshop. my hubby told me it smells heavenly delicious and he's very picky for woman perfumes. the perfume has a very nice sillage and a good staying power. i will definitely wear this again more often in future to not get forgotten again. :)

What is this, I thought to myself as lovely wafts of light florals drifted up to my nose? Surely it can't be what was written on the decant that a lovely friend sent me a short while ago. I even contacted her, and she assured me that indeed it was what she sent. I had heard of the fragrance before, but it certainly wasn't something I was interested in. I thought it would probably be just another fruity floral so overdone over the past several years. And while it is a fruity floral, there is something about this that sets it apart from others in this genre, besides the nostalgic scent of a child's doll on opening that is so fitting for the name of this fragrance. Sweet effervescent pineapple, beautiful spicy orange blossom, creamy gardenia and tuberose, all grounded with benzoin, sandalwood and amber that's highlighted with a light dusting of nutmeg. So unusual, and so pretty. I love it right now. I know I am going to love it much more next summer as it seems designed for hot weather wear. Edit - I still love the smell of this as much as the first time I wore it, but the silage and longevity are just not there. I thought it would behave better in warmer weather, but actually the opposite happened. I sprayed it on in an air-conditioned environment, walked out the door into the heat, and the scent practically disappeared. Not good at all. That's too bad. This would have been wonderful if it was only a little stronger.

I think this may be the most interesting and the most difficult-to-describe perfume I own. How do I start... This really caught my attention based on its description and notes, so when I saw one last bottle being available for purchase online in the country where I live in, I had to have it... and it was so affordable. First of all, the bottle is so nice, really fitting the scent and the "doll" aesthetics. When I was a little child, I loved everything red... inlcluding red perfume bottles and red caps. :P It's nice and a little bit fuzzy. As for the scent itself... it's kind of weird to my nose, but in the very best way... I'm really loving it, because to me, it smells literally like "good old times", whatever that might be. I get the fresh, pineapple top note, but then also something familiar, comforting and plasticky? As I said, it's so interesting. It's sweet and plasticky, and also a bit spicy. I am not sure if this comment (or kind of a review) might be actually helpful in any way, but if you like the scent of dolls, plastics and "things familiar from your childhood", this might be the right one for you. :) I will need to test its longevity and projection, but the scent itself is very cute.

As akats said: It's a summer scent! Ok, it's tuberose, gardenia and pineapple, everything noticable if you like, but when I close my eyes I feel like being a little girl at the beach, sunlotion and a bathing suit, a shovel in the warm sand by the sea. Not spring break summer or cocktail bar or Full-Moon-Party summerish, more the good old days, when everything was simple and delightful. Usually I don't like tuberose and usually don't wear it, but I guess this might be an exception? I'm eager to experience Poupee in the peak of summer. Not olfactorically overwhelming and without the citrus notes, which I'm not fond of, which are always included in summer frags; this might be a good choice?! I'm very astonished, that I like it that much... I'm a lucky devil, I tend to like fumes, which are sometimes really not very popular and therefor very inexpansive. Hehe.

For me this opening is a confusing, a bit cacophonous, some plastic flower-bouquet, scary but, ooh, fascinating... ( Indeed, as I were a little girl again whit my new dressed doll almost the size of myself, whose eyes move and who says "mama"...) When the opening calms down, I get a strong tuberose scent, which creaminess cut by fresh pineapple along with jasmine, Gardenia and floured walnut. That combination reminds me some green, almost like hyacinth( !?) , even though the pineapple is separable.But not ripe, green one...All in all, for me this is a so well-blended green tuberose with good, but pleasant performance. After initial embarrassment linear, but Cute like a "La bonne poupée"...

Definately smell the fruity scented doll head... I think the tuberose is not offensive at all (Diptique's Tuberose room spray gives me potpourri nightmares). It's very unique and femme, I like it. I've been wearing this since 8am and it's 3, I still get a delicious cloud of this when I sit down or move around. Those top notes still shine through after hours which is really impressive. Very well done. I don't particularly care for the fuzzy bottle cap, which feels like a magnet for hand creams and dust. But the bottle itself definately embodies "doll". It's giving "babygirl". It falls into the niche category so guess it's not for everyone but I really love it <3

I'm a vintage doll collector & I've got no words to describe how beautiful this perfume is & how its name is deadly accurate... There's a mysterious beauty that only dolls embody, & even though their skin is porcelain cold, they are tender & caring. That's how this perfume is as well. I simply love it. & guys, it's got a velvet cap, even the package has got a lace motif, can't get more romantic than that!!! Blind bought it & couldn't be happier with my decision! There's nothing alike out there & this is one of my favs now...

A totally unique tropical fruit floral. I doubt there's something like it on your dresser. It's heavenly on a hot and sultry day (like today, as I write this review.) I've never smelled a pineapple accord that's so lively. You can actually smell pineapple and not generic fruit. It almost smells fizzy, tickles the nose like a tart cocktail. But this one isn't heavily sweet, more like a vodka soda with a splash of pineapple, than a Mai Thai. The tuberose stands out more than the gardenia, for me. I find it very enjoyable.

What a nice little fragrance! Smells of flowers, a lot of them, but in such light and lovely way it ́s almost fruity on my skin. The jasmine blends with the rose perfectly and the fragrance becomes a really soft floral where the rose for me is the big surprise. I ́ve never smelled it like this before. It stays on me even after I ́ve taken a shower, so it ́s really longlasting...but this fragrance doesn ́t offend anyone, it stays close and makes me feel so feminine.

Wow,this one has me vexed! I love it,but I really shouldn't because it is strong in notes I would usually avoid in large doses,such as tuberose and orange blossom . It is incredibly intense on the gardenia and tuberose but also on the sandalwood and amber,but although it is heavy,it is still feminine because of the powdery rose and nutmeg and fruity tang of pineapple. A puzzling fragrance ideal for someone like me with eclectic tastes!

Hi Moraine!! I know a bit how you feel! The first time I sprayed Poupee I was soo surprised by it's power that I really had to adjust my expectation. But later in time I learned this perfume to be one you have to give into. If you can surrender to this beauty, it will be the most lovely companion of the day! But it does not care for a half hearted approach, so you choose this one to wear on a day when you think 'NO COMPROMISES TODAY!'

Inspired by Miguels Matos lovely review of this fragrance on Fragrantica I just purchased a bottle and I'm glad I did. This perfume is such a beautiful peculiar vintage gem. The combination of pineapple, tuberose and nutmeg makes it artificial but also playful and a bit nostalgic. I easily get the "plastic doll smell". They don't make them anymore like this, which makes this scent even more precious to me. Love it, love it, love it.

It's a big shame they stopped making this perfume because it's truly a great scent. It smells very sweet, powdery, girly, but not in a cheap way, I can not really explain it but it smells just very French! People always asked me what I was wearing and the bottle was gorgeous too. If they'd ever start reproducing this again, I would run to the store to get myself a new bottle!

At first I only smell strong gardenia + tuberose. Then the benzoin creeps in and it becomes a playful, plastic bouquet. I mean this in the best way, it smells like a doll's head! A young, girly and fresh white floral. In the drydown I start to get the orange blossom, rose & sandalwood. It has a floral sweetness to it that is very pleasant and never cloying. Coquettish.

This is such an unusual scent! It smells like white flowers, pineapple, and has a waxy-quality, like plastic dolls. It's so feminine and girly, but it doesn't smell cheap at all. So unique and the bottle is too cute! Perfect for Springtime/ cool Summer days..and when I wear it, I feel like a doll :)

Oh why did I purchase the smaller bottle? Big mistake, will order the biggest one. This one really reminds me of a new doll smell, without being plasticky. It is really pretty on me, too bad it’s too soft and vanishes kinda quickly.

I'd say "pretty". at first I was attracted to pineapple scent, after a little while flowers and nutmeg charmed me. I can't help sniffing.

This is the godmother to all white flower perfumes, in that category one of the best.

I'm so bewildered by this fragrance. I simply love white florals, but hate chemical beasts. Poupée actually has a plastic doll smell, still I can't stop sniffing my wrist. I guess that I'm trying to sniff beyond the doll to further investigate the notes. Doing that I can really se myself wearing it both in a little black dress at an evening party somewhere in the city, but also at work, wearing any of my flowery small-patterned dresses (like a doll?). Poupée is both beautyfully innocent and sexy at the same time. The best part of this cute frag appears when the pineapple in the top has left the scene. Now the scent transforms itself from juicy notes to silky powdery ones from the sandalwood, which also seems to erase the sharpness from the white flowers by making them soft almost airy. Poupée seems to lift a few mm's from the skin and becomes a lukewarm sweet-scented breeze. This is why it will work for me, both in small patterned flowery dresses and the LBD. Poupée is wellcrafted and sweet, without beeing cloying and it is young but also sophisticated. Somehow it reminds me of the early Cacharels that I adore som much. Their sweetness is balanced with powdery, acrid cedar that also gives them a twist. The sandalwood in Poupée is much more inviting. Still it has a little twist from a moderate peppery nutmeg. I'm totally captivated by this scent. I'm so going to buy it. Edit: I was so captivated by this scent, but in the end I didn't buy it. I found out that the nutmeg in the endnotes was too strong, sour and peppery for my liking. Still it took almost 10 times of testing to find that out. Try before buy, I did it several times.

I normally have a hard time with gardenia, tuberose, and nutmeg notes, and wow was I nervous trying a scent with all those notes combined, but this is an example of a fragrance that transcends its note list and takes on the role of presenting a memory whenever it's smelled. I spray this and I'm suddenly 6 years old again. I'm playing with my porcelain dolls, strawberry clips in my hair and wearing white sparkly tights (God, those were itchy!) My mother is running a bubble bath for me and floral teacups and a little tiny teapot with imaginary tea inside are scattered around us. I remove my nose from my wrist or my arm and I'm back to the present day. But everytime I lean back in to smell it I jump back in the time machine and travel 20+ years back. It's absolutely amazing to me that a scent can do that. Before this fragrance I scoffed at those who talked about perfume this way, they were just trying to be pretentious. I think the amount of times I've sniffed a perfume and had it take me back in time have been few and far between, but whenever it happens it's worth sharing, and I think the memories of being a little girl and playing with dolls are exactly what the creator of this perfume knew many of us would experience when they created this scent. It's one of the most genius compositions, and at such an affordable price. What a hidden, underrated treasure this perfume is!

While I normally prefer my tuberose heavier and greener, this has a really gorgeous, clean, pretty tuberose smell that is complemented by the tropical pineapple and smooth orange blossom. The jasmine and nutmeg are a nice touch. If you love tuberose but want something more universally appealing than, say Carnal Flower (which I love but it not for everyone or every occasion), this is a great and inoffensive way to still bathe in the gorgeous scent of tuberose but know you aren’t going to bring on headaches in those with super sensitive noses or get too heady a dose of indoles. Sillage and longevity both moderate but that is consistent with the generally inoffensive and lovely nature of this perfume. I love the unique suede-esque cap on the bottle as well.

Had no expectations on this one, as I believe Rochas is nowadays far from the outstanding creations of the past (Byzance, Eau de Rochas, Madame Rochas to name a few). I was wrong. Indeed Poupée is a very lovely fragrance, well constructed. I like how the top notes - pineapple- are not overwhelming and lead immediately to the heart notes, where a creamy but not heady gardenia melts with nutmeg. While it is not listed, I detect some pear in the notes. The tuberose is mild and very wearable. The drydown is of a classic oriental, amber and benzoin. Very wearable and enjoyable. Of course, it will never be a milestone in perfumery, but it can be for you if you are looking for a simple, feminine, lighthearted fragrance. _____

I wasn't sure I was going to like this at all having read some of the reviews here but I really do like it. I can't detect any plastic, thank goodness, but plenty of white flowers. Gardenia and tuberose. I've been wearing this for about 3 hours and its showing no sign of dying down yet, I'm looking forward to the nutmeg later. I received this as a sample in a lot with other fragrances, I will definitely consider buying a small bottle if the price is good. Fabulous for spring/summer days. EDIT: Its now 11 hours since I applied Poup'ee and its still here! Amazing longevity and sillage. The nutmeg never arrived but the dry down is SO dry, its kinda like tea. I'm very very impressed with Poup'ee!!

I always find myself unable to pronounce this properly and end up laughing at the immaturity. The scent itself is just plain bizarre, but in a truly lovely way. Rose has been a rather recent fascination of mine and I find this to be done in a way not dissimilar to a Cacharel fragrance. In saying this, it isn't as loud or intriguing. It's rather soft and won't last too long. That being said, I haven't worn it in a few weeks. From the listed notes, obviously rose is the most prominent but tuberose and jasmine are also very detectable. The dry down consists of what I suspect to be benzoin but I can't say for sure. Worth a try if you can get it for a good price, for sure.

This is actually surprisingly nice! Serves me right for judging a book by its cover. I can see where the plastic-doll-smell reviews are coming from, it does remind me of dolls, but at the same time it's not plasticky enough that it bothers me at all. It does have a waxy quality that (at least to me) adds to an impression of white flowers. They're very soft, quietly sweet white flowers too, not overwhelming at all. I mainly get a beautifully gentle gardenia with a hint of jasmine, it's very delicate and demure. I can't imagine anyone being offended by this. Unless they're weirded out by the doll smell.

To me it is nearly a twin- a fraternal twin, not identical perhaps- of White Shoulders about which others have also perceived a plastic or plastic doll note. I do not get any plastic powder or soap from either of these at any stage when wearing. I detect only the slightest fleeting pineapple in Poup'ee, and a slightly less rich or complex dry down than WS. Otherwise, a lovely soft smooth slightly warm but redundant bouquet in the lady like pastoral genre, not "old lady" or cutey cute girly, but gentle and sweetly lady-like- but, redundant. I already have WS.

I really like this. It's practically a dupe of La Chasse aux papillons, (An earlier, iconic creation by the same perfumer, Anne Flipo), with a pinch of pineapple. I smell black pepper in the drydown, but I don't notice in the least whatever is called "plastic doll" smell in other reviews. I think the name suggests this note to those who sniff it, and they have a specific doll in mind, maybe?. I think the name Poupee works, because this smells like a garden bouquet a little girl would gather for her mother; precious, innocent, and gentle.

How strange is that?! My dear husband LIKES this fragrance! WOW.... He is very difficult to please when it comes to my parfumes (not that I am trying too hard, it is MY hobby). He does not like "plastic doll semell". In fact, most of the fragrances I have "tested" on him smels like: Lego, plastic doll or rhubarb. However, he likes this one! app.15min this fragrance becomes very powdery- soft & sensitive. Love it!

This is honestly not what I was expecting... The projection is very good! As it dries down it evokes that powdery fruity doll head scent, though on initial spray it is very loud! The magic is definitely in the dry down. I think this one could be over sprayed easily so must be careful with that. I think not everyone could pull this off, I haven't figured whether I can myself yet. Quite a unique frag

Rochas Poupeé is such a delightful scent experience, lovely, soft, velvety, fruity-floral. I have one tester bottle available for purchase, if any collector is interested. Notes are intact and lovely. It seems Rochas should have kept the English language in mind when they named Poupee. It would have been a success I dare say. What’s in a name?

It starts with sharp and sour jasmine + pineapple,.The top notes are synthetic and awful...but when it settles down the beauty of the white flowers shows and i love it and i cant stop smelling my wrist.The lasting powers is very bad,i wish it could be better because i love the dry down P.S It has a plastic,doll smell:)

First time i smelled it i felt like I am in an old soviet room wearing red shirt with black dots, with a Matroska braid on my head. It just felt like this. :D I quite like it, but it has some softness/roundness about it, that i, personally, do not prefer. But this is an interesting scent. :)

the most hard to find perfume in greece...so i like the fact that it is feminine,discreet and unique.(plus,it actually reminds you of barbie dolls!!!pouppees!lol)but i dont like the plastic"finishing"in the scent...anyway,ideal for springtime!xo xo

A very light gardenia scent. The best word to describe it is "pretty". It's just a very pretty fragrance. Soft, inviting and innocent, it's probably the best gardenia perfume I've smelled. I imagine someone who is all smiles wearing this.

pineapple, tuberose, magnolia, sandalwood, would swear there is some iris in here; soft and close, office appropriate; this is NOT rose prominent; as it dries down, the jasmine takes center stage

wow! this is a very strange perfume! It reminds me of that dishwash soap named Palmolive! The green one that does good on your hands :P But I still like it a lot.. It's very unique!

sweet tropical dreamy scent !!

I just love the aesthetic of this bottle. It's so cute with the quirky font and the combo of the pink juice with the red flocked cap. The scent itself is quite special and unique too. It is not my favorite, but it's one of those I can't give up on because I love the idea of it. I love the bottle. I want to love the scent. I was born in 1981 and I am quite nostalgic about a certain part of my childhood, the part where I played with dolls and my huge collection of scented erasers. I am always looking for perfumes that some how reminds me of childhood worry-free existence, boundless imagination and big laughs. Poupée just wasn't "that" for me, though I see the references to dolls and the plasticky feel (but I don't recall a doll or toy that actually smelled like this) I can not describe the scent, I can hardly even pick out the pineapple (one of my top 3 favorite notes in perfumes). I can only say that it was more flowery and less sweet than I expected. The sum of it creates a whole where the single components are hard to distinguish imo I am quite liking this today, actually! And with the cheep price and uniqueness of it I'd certainly recommend trying it, even if it means you have to BB.

What a unique little fragrance, but sadly, it doesn't work for me. I generally love scents that are intentionally plastic-like, smell like toys, dolls or lip gloss, so I thought Poupée would be right up my alley. What can I say, I'm very nostalgic for my 90s childhood. I adore the pineapple in this, it's so fresh but sweet and really does smell like something Barbie would wear when I sniff it directly from my skin. It has a glossy, vinyl-like texture that I enjoy a lot. Unfortunately the white florals ruin it for me. I like white florals and especially tuberoses that smell plasticy and bubblegummy, but this is not what I got from Poupée. Instead they have a slightly chalky, powdery edge that I usually mostly get from older perfumes and never liked. More like a dusty old-fashioned porcelain doll than something I would have played with as a child. It's such a shame, when I put my nose to the part of my skin I sprayed I'm in love, but then I get whiffs from the sillage that I can't stand. I haven't smelled anything similar before and all in all it's not an unpleasant fragrance, so I would still recommend to try it out, but it's not for me and not quite what I expected.

I approached this perfume with genuine enthusiasm fueled by a long standins curiosity I’ve had about it. My favorite fragrance genre is scents that are inspired by and evoke the whimsical charm of dolls and Poupee is considered an OG in that category. Sadly, nothing about Poupee gives “doll” imo. For reference, I grew up with the dolls of the early 2000s so it might be my age that’s preventing me from making the connection. I had the same issue with Cacharel’s Loulou, another vintage, doll inspired fragrance. The composition here is straightforward and stays true to its notes, but the tuberose is what dominates on my skin. As someone who has never been particularly enamored with tuberose, its prominence in the fragrance immediately turned me off along with the nutmeg note that adds a spicy aspect that, for me personally, is unpleasant. While Poupee is far from an unworthy fragrance, its character simply doesn’t speak to me.

This is interesting. I kept asking the guy to re-spray until he ended up spraying all over my arm. That's because I didn't 'get it'. I could barely smell anything, and was also expecting more. I always get excited when I hear a perfume smells 'plastic-dolly'. I've been looking for the right one for a long time. Sad to say that I don't think this ones it. All I got was a faint pineapple smell with a whole lot of plastic. There was something nice about it but something so off too. I tried on 'baby doll' by YSL in the same day and found that to be more of plastic-doll smell than this. I though maybe its because of testing too many perfumes at one time; so when I went back two days later and tried it again, its pretty much still the same. Plastic Pineapple. Slightly disappointed. There is something interesting about it, but not what I thought it would be.....hmm....we'll see....

I ve made this profile account just because I wanted to write a review for this parfume.Just to warn blind buyers like me. For me this is one of the most disgusting fragrances ever made.The name and the notes were really attractive at the beginning.."Poupee"..I was expecting something similar by this name, but when I first sprayed it on myself I smelled like an old virgin...too bad ..Even ppl around were keep asking what the hell I am smelling like...so this is how HELL supposed to smells like..never ever this ever... Its not even sweet, not even bitter fragrance..I can hardly describe how it smells..just like silage and old filthy room...

Ghastly. Over the top, overwhelmingly sticky, sickly, sickly sweet. The tuberose in this leaps out, grabs me by the throat and starts to throttle me, then I get whacked around the head with a horrible, overpowering, concentrated plastic dolly smell, which I’ve never liked. I've tried this a few times, just in case, but no – just no. If anybody would like to swap this for something else, I have a full bottle (minus around four of the “just in case” sprays).

This smells simular to Coty's Sand and Sable both have Gardenia Dominates both of those perfumes. Gardenia to me does not do any favor on my chemistry even with the Drydown of Pineapple nutmeg and Jasmine can not persude me to like this perfume. it has a Like Sand and Sable a strange Urine scent. i think it's the Gardenia is making it like that. I Don't Really care about this Perfume.

I almost blind bought this as it's so cheap. Thank god I did not. It's just a light scent on me and all I get is a faintly sweet, with peppery vibe. Lacks substance and character, just blah.

Initially there’s mostly a light, woody-green orange flower/petitgrain note that reminds me of the woody, green orange flower in Giorgio. In both of these scents it’s not the big indolic or grape-y or candied “white flower”, that appears in so many perfumes, but rather the same simple, artificial orange flower scent that’s sold for next to nothing in Florida souvenir shops. In Poupée it’s presented at a modest concentration, not ridiculously over-endowed the way its mother Giorgio was. Despite the allusion in the shape of the bottle, Rochas Femme is not the mother of Poupée, which was clearly adopted, or maybe bought at the toy store. Poupée also adds an odd note that smells exactly the way a large, moist flower does when it’s dying. If you have ever smelled a cattleya orchid flower after it’s turned brown and is ready to drop off (I know not many people have), that’s the note. It’s sort of like a combination of a used green tea bag that’s been sitting around for a while, and decaying vegetation. I think maybe it’s supposed to be tuberose, or maybe it’s tuberose plus hazelnut, but it doesn’t work for me. After the orange-flowers and dying orchid phase, a new player comes on the scene for just a few minutes - almonds/benzaldehyde. It seems a little incongruous here, but disappears as quickly as it appeared, going right back to the orange flower-tuberose “lite” combination. What was that about? I never smelled any pineapple until the final death throes, when a faint fruity note appeared on my skin along with a synthetic woody-musky base. The whole sequence lasts about 3-5 hours, so longevity isn’t the best. The sample that I have is more than enough.
