Cassis Frénésie

Wearing Cassis Frénésie for the first time. The past few weeks I have been enjoying Beach Hut Man by Amouage, and Cassis Frénésie share the same creator: Elise Benat. I’m in love with Beach Hut Man, and am very curious about other creations by Elise Benat. And Cassis Frénésie does not disappoint. Very natural, herbal and green. There’s a rose in here but I would not place this in a floral category, nor does it belong in a fruit category, it’s not sweet either. It’s a beautiful spicy herbal aromatic cloud that lets you take a walk through a Mediterranean garden — for about 3 hours. Good performance considering this is cologne strength. I used to wear the original “In Love Again” by YSL in the late 1990s. This is a very similar cassis dominant scent and I see that other reviewers likened it to the relaunch. Guess the newer version is now on my “try” list as this one from Roger & Gallet is hard to find. If only Roger & Gallet had U.S. distribution, I would be one very happy camper.

Its very natural, bitter green scent. Its a bit floral rose, but also leaves and steams from the petigran. A gulbanum bomb thats highly aromatic. Althogh not listed I am getting a heavy dose of tomato leaf in the opening. Reminds me of Belles de Ricci open and Vent Vert drydown - but I preffer it to both. I recomend if you like unique scents and can handel a bitterness opening. Nothing sweet here. It dries down warmer with a light powderyness like pollen. The cassis is not as prominent as other notes. Not girly or playfull. More cold, calm and collected. Not as fresh or sour as I expected, more savoury and natural - calming not zingy. Just sampled Diptyque L'ombre dans L'eau and its almost identical - and half the price!

A really wonderful aromatic fruity floral. The fresh facet of Cassis Frenesie is very green, pungent and yes a bit bitter. The opening is comparable to the real blackcurrant plant, and also reminds me strongly of the tomato leaf note in perfumery. The rose come along quickly to provide the floral facet, and it really helps to keep the composition smelling pretty in addition to botanical. Unlike many cheaper colognes this one dries down the same as it goes on - no muskiness, sweetness or stale perfume smell. I get 6 hour longevity which isn't bad for an EDC. Highly recommended for warm/hot summer days.

I am a man and I love it. It smells bitter, crisp and peppery like real blackcurrent fruit when you pick them from the tree. Not sweet or fruity but very strong and red pepper like. It reminds me of Insensé by Givenchy in the 90s. The drydown is quite linear, natural and comforting. The scent smells quality, natural ingredients and to me it can be as feminine as it can be masculine depending on who wears it. The bottle and the juice color are great. Fantastic product.

It opens as strongly tomato leaf on me, and this scent stays as the backbone for the entire duration. After a few hours the eucalyptus, pine, and lavender start to gain strength. It's fresh and aromatic and slightly peppery and very intriguing. Definitely not like anything else. It lasts over 12h, which is huge, and projects strongly more than an arm's length from you. R&G offer some excellent value for money with this range.

Cassis Frénésie opens with leafy-green herbal notes and a sprinkle of pepper, which cleverly gives an otherwise ordinary cologne a slightly spicy edge. Fresh, juicy blackcurrant is probably the most dominant note here, as befits the name. There is a crisp, natural quality to the ingredients, and the fruitiness of the blackcurrant is nicely tart rather than sweet. The geranium note becomes more prominent as it begins to dry down. It is green rather than floral, very natural and almost identical to the houseplant. I cannot detect any rose, but there is a soft woodiness to the drydown. Fresh and green to the end, this is definitely unisex. This light cologne is fresh, herbal and light, made with lovely natural-smelling ingredients but unfortunately has no longevity. Sillage is weak too after the opening. More of an eau fraiche. Still, a discreet, sophisticated summertime choice that reminds me of Tuscan vineyards. 2.5/5

Opens with green zesty freshness and black currant leaves, very natural and pleasant. In 5-10 min it gets creamier, rose get noticeable, freshness fades away slightly, but instead you get mainly garden rose with green undertones. It's not similar to Miller Harris at all, which is much more green and complex, has no roses and keeps that currant+tomato leaf freshness within developing. Overall it's very nice good quality cologne, I love opening and a bit disappointed with rosy development, but for rose lovers it would be great deal. And yes, it reminds me of Diptique as well, in which I like opening and don't like roses...

I love the smell of blackcurrant leaves - fruity, but a little bitter. And this is what I got on first spritz. Took me right back to my father's garden, picking and eating the tangy blackcurrants and smelling the leaves. This scent quickly settled on my skin to creamy woody blackcurrant leaves with a hint of floral in the background. It's really lovely and like nothing I've sampled before. Very natural smelling and delicate, and has perfumed my skin like a good talc would. I'll definitely be trying more from this French house.

not bad for the price. reminded me to give some love to my Baruti (Berlin im Winter) which is the most sumptuous, wholesome cassis I have smelled so far. For 20ish pounds Roger&Gallet gives you an hour of aromatic and fresh (ish) ride. Baruti is cca. 5 times more expensive but would last 12 hrs + especially on clothes and is a rich dense scent. I guess it is down to preferences now -

this one stood out to me in the shop. im usually not a big fan of those herby pharmacy perfumes but i decided to give it a chance. as @LauraAD mentioned, it really smells like tomato leaf at first. like i was at my grandparents' garden standing next to their cherry tomatoes plant on a sunny summer day. so quite a nostalgic and comforting scent! it kind of reminds me of Diptyque's l'ombre dans l'eau for its tomato leaf scent. however, i sprayed it on my wrist but the nostalgic tomato smell didn't stay long unfortunately. after about an hour it smells like a middle aged lady's perfume, with heavy bergamot. too bad!!

So I bought this after hearing comparisons to L’ombre Dans Leau! LDL is my signature scent and really the love of my scent life and I’ll say this does bear some similarities. It’s closer to LDL than anything else I’ve smelled but it’s just not quite it. Cassis Frenesie hits heavier on the bergamot and and it’s mintier and more of classic cologne type of scent than L’ombre and for me, the jammy rose doesn’t come through like it does for me with Diptyque. The longevity is mediocre but for the price it’s excellent and a cheaper alternative to LDL and tbh..it’s gorgeous in its own right but nothing compares to the Diptyque masterpiece for me. With that said, it’s lovely and I’ll definitely keep my bottle but it’s not a dupe for LDL.

Néroli Facètie, along with Cassis Frénésie are totally worth your money if you want an edc with medium longevity and medium sillage. Both tested in heat and performed great for edc. This one is sharp, earthy, bitter, I really enjoyed the sour dose of cassis in here. There is also a sharp floral in the mix. Men and women can wear this equally. In the end there is a medicinal trail. Lasted for five hours on the skin with greater sillage in the beginning. Well done!!

I think this is discontinued? can’t find it on the R&G website anymore. All the reviews are spot on. It’s a unisex scent that smells very natural, green/herbal, a bit soapy (maybe the lavender or geranium?) and a bit bitter. The smell of cassis is of the leaves, not the fruit. It smells way more expensive than it is! Although I don’t love every scent from this line, they all offer great value for money.

Unusual, beautiful, affordable. Geranium and cassis are reminiscent of Miller Harris Cassis en Feuille. Quality ingredients. I must try more from this line, as most are rated 4+. Nice blind buy.
