Fleur d'Osmanthus

This is an eau fraiche or "fresh (fragrant) water" which is really meant as a refresher so it's not really meant to last, for those complaining about longevity and maybe don't understand fragrance concentrations in perfumery. That aside, I think it's a lovely, sheer, simple osmanthus tea-like scent. None of the leathery or smoky aspects of more complex osmanthus scents like Auphorie Miyako or Perris Monte Carlo Absolute d'Osmanthe. Citrusy up top, then settles to a sheer peachy/apricot. I don't like sweet and didn't find this too sweet for me. It also lasted pretty well on me-like 6 hours- albeit with little projection. I love having some perfumes that form a sheer veil of scent, rather than a brick wall, in-your-face scent that demands my attention all day. Especially when it's hot out(I keep it in the fridge in summer)or after an evening shower. Just really calming. I also have The Different Company Osmanthus but I actually prefer this much cheaper fragrance and reach for it more often! The TDC version is the same in feel-like a light, citrusy osmanthus tea. It is decidedly more floral and is more complex in comparison , but still pretty minimalist in style. The citrus smells more synthetic to me and there's this sharp, almost ammonia-like, cleaning product quality in the TDC that actually grates on me at times and the drydown sometimes registers as clean laundry to me-not a big fan of that smell. TDC is a proper perfume so does project a little more and lasts a little longer. A little being the operative phrase. I'm a fan of R &G and often find them in pharmacies deeply discounted so I don't feel guilty dousing myself.

After years of hesitation, I got myself a bottle at the end of a frustrating day. My first, or second, encounter with it was in the swimming pool locker room, a good friend of mine was using a body lotion that smelled divine. I still mostly associate it with her, but she is so nice that I'll eventually get over it. It's also quite sweet but not obnoxiously so, or even gourmand. Sweet yellow floral with hints of jammy apricot. Joyful, sunny and sparkling. I should not have waited this long to get it. Sometimes its behaviour reminds me of N°5 Eau Première, big love of mine, it's a great mood lifter. I can't help myself, I like my perfumes sunny and happy. For simple "perfumed water", its performance is outstanding. We currently enjoy mild late summer weather and I love wearing it in the evenings. I can only hope to continue enjoying it when the weather glooms. It's December and I still enjoy it as much as I did three months ago. Jammy texture with suede undertone, one of the osmanthus caracteristics with sunny yellow-ness, is simply delightful. There is also touch of acidity and bitter zestiness like in those expensive artisanal marmelades that smell and taste like sunshine. It's a real treat to wear. And body care is just as good. My aunt and cousin went on a trip to France and they bought a bottle of Fleur d'Osmanthus as a gift for me. It was the first time I heard of Roger & Gallet. Upon the first spritz, I was meh on it. I used it a few more times and then suddenly it became heavenly to me. A lady stood by me and she even complimented telling me "ooh you smell so good." The osmanthus scent got so addicting; clear, crisp, juicy and fresh. I ended up using the whole bottle. A few years later, I missed the scent so much, I had to stalk and scour online just to find another bottle and let me tell you, it was very hard! Eventually, I came upon a site called Perfume Premium (DO NOT use this site unless you live in Europe which I don't. I'm a Vietnamese living in the U.S.) I thought I was scammed after paying so much money for another bottle of this but after going through pains, they finally delivered a bottle of Fleur d'Osmanthus to my house two days ago. It smelled just as heavenly and amazing as a few years back and I will be using it sparingly.

Just impulsively sprayed this on in a pharmacy in a very small farm town in the south of France. I was in a terrible mood - didn't get much sleep last night, unexpectedly started my period early and was cramping bad, the sun was out and very hot, I was dehydrated, and I needed to stop at the pharmacy to pick up paracetemol because I'd accidently ran out. So when I tell you this was a mood lifter, I mean it. It's very pretty, sweet and floral and light with a soft brightness that I think is the citrus, simple, noticeable enough that I don't have to literally press my wrist to my face but not strong enough to be intrusive at all, I could probably ignore it if I wanted too. I absolutely fell in love with it. I have a rule against buying perfumes the first time I smell them, and I was in a rush, so I kept moving. But definitely going back and grabbing it. Tried a couple others in the pharmacy but this stood out to me. Lovely. Extremely reminisicent of French summers too, with the freshness, brightness, and sweet floral.

Smells exactly like peachy shower gel in the opening, but why not? It's not literal, it's your peach-washed skin in a summer day. Minutes later, the neroli kicks in, filling the exact half of the space with its Mediterranean soapiness/happiness. I have a story here. I had a very stressful working month, lots of anxiety and not enough sleep, when I found Fleur d'Osmanthus. It helped me transcend. I needed this reapplied through the whole day, regardless of weather conditions or its limited projection and short life. It becomes slightly sweeter and woodier in the base, but remains balanced and light, talking about sunshine and simple life, as opposed to the complications one might be going through in this very moment. I speak rarely about the therapeutic qualities of a fragrance and I don't take them for granted (lavender, for example, makes me nervous most of the time). In this case though, therapeutic it is indeed, speaking from my own experience.

Smells like iced apricot green tea. It's not too 'young' or 'old.' It's the scent of a pretty girl that always smells freshly shampooed and airy. Super delicious and refreshing and makes me feel even better when I apply it straight out of the shower. Osmanthus is one of my more preferred tea-like scents - the likes of ethereal wave is too smokey and Nest indigo is too spicy and syrupy. On the search for more osmanthus now! This perfume solidifed my love for this note. It is just too perfect. When I am at home it actually lasts a good 3 ish hours on well moisturized skin. For such an inexpensive perfume with these notes, that's very reasonable to me.

Love pulling this out this time of the year. It’s little hint that spring is here and summer is around the corner. And I definitely need a pick me up for what’s been going on around the world so this stuff is helping me big time. I only buy the body products to pair with my fragrances for spring and summer. It’s very zesty fresh and floral with bit of a woody scent hidden in the background. That why it’s perfect to layer with your D&Gs light blues and Issey miyake’s. I love to layer with my terre d'hermes for evenings out. Always be a favorite of mine

tried it today on my skin. love at first sniff! perfect for summer. surprisingly the longevity is very good on my skin, even the projection is good for an eau fraiche. i had 'the vert' on my other arm but that lost its lasting power much sooner. agree with previous reviewer, it smells a lot like acqua di parma's arancia but lasts longer and cheaper. edit: now i have the bottle and wear it. the lasting power isnt as good as i first thought it be on the skin. but it does last quite a long time on clothes.

I tried it today and I liked it a lot. It reminds me of a doll I have had since I was a little girl. This doll smells like soft apricot and Fleur d'Osmanthus has almost the same scent. I tried it on paper and on my skin. I still get whiffs from time to time and I can't believe how lovely and innocent smell it is. I don't know what osmanthus smells like, but this perfume is mainly apricot and citrus notes. Really nice! Oh, and I don't think it is like Light Blue at all (which I dislike, actually).

After spraying: citruses (lemon?) + apricot + crushed green grass After half an hour: cistrusy note is very optimistic, it "enhances" apricot which is one of the best apricots I've smelled in perfumes ever, real juicy not too sweet. Crushed gras morphes into wet hay note (it's wet hay with chamomile!!!) and then into dry leather note. And osmanthus flower is told to possess the leather note (so now I finally know how it smells :)

I love it...a smooth, calm, silky, classy floral...it has quality in the ingredients, but why why doesn ́t it last longer? I wear it more on weekend, to stay with the children and my husband, to receive friends, to enjoy ... It ́s a unpretentious scent, but with a such class...less is really much more...

mmmmm... just tried this one on my vacation in Berlin. Such a LOVELY scent!!! Just YUMMY! But i totally agree with Sylvane71, after an hour i couldn't smell it any more. Gone is the fairytale. They really should make a perfume of it instead of eau fraiche. I would buy it the next minute!

This fragrance in summer is just the most delightful thing , it has a fresh vibe but with a little bit or sweat and romantic feel to it. When I wear this is just feel joyful and it boost my spirit. It might not have the best longevity but I personally still smell it after 8 hours one me.

Wonderfully bright, clear, clean and emotional, it evokes feelings of well being just as the package promises. Negative is that it doesn ́t last an hour on my skin and that the powdery dry down gives me a granny vibe.

A colleague owns a bottle, and it smells so fabulous on her! I tried it on me for a day, and I absolutely want one now. Love the grapefruit notes on this, it makes me feel giddy <3

This is a beautiful, comforting, light and sweet perfume! Happiness in a bottle. Unfortunately, as is the case with happiness, it doesn't last.

A nice, androgynous and European smell.

I found an sample of Fleur d'Osmanthus in the pocket of an old handbag, so I duly added it to my extensive collection of samples. It is labelled as an eau fraîche, but its performance is better than this would suggest, as is the case for my beloved R&G Fleur de Figuier. FO is a very sweet floral-fruity. There is a good bit of citrus in there, but it is sweet rather than fresh. FO opens with sweet mandarin followed closely by the juicy peach accord that dominates this scent. There is a woody undertone to the opening, grounding things somewhat. As it develops, the fruit-tinged florals emerge, with apricot-like osmanthus following seamlessly from the peach/apricot of the opening. Likewise, the neroli serves as a floral development of the sweet orange notes. It is all very, very sweet, but the ingredients smell natural. As it dries down, the woodiness develops, complementing the sweet florals nicely. There is a honeyed sweetness at the later stages, rich and floral. It fades to a sweet musky skin scent. Overall, FO reminds me of Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey. Sillage and longevity are moderate. An uplifting, feminine summer scent, FO is nicely composed and better than i expected. Too sweet for me personally, but objectively good. 3/5.

As someone from Northern Europe, I instinctively associate florals with spring and summer. That's why it's a dream of mine to experience osmanthus season somewhere in Asia and understand it as the flower of autumn that it truly is. Roger & Gallet's interpretation is the first fragrance that truly makes sense of that idea for me. It captures the feeling of late summer slowly giving way to fall, with all the bittersweet beauty that comes with the changing season. I love osmanthus and, dare I say, it's a floral for people who don't usually like florals. The subtle apricot sweetness and soft leathery touch give it a depth that keeps it from ever feeling overly pretty or cliché. The fragrance opens with a burst of bright citrus before settling into delicate peachy tea notes. There's a transparent sweetness and an effortless sophistication running through the entire composition. While it's fairly light on skin, it clings beautifully to clothing and easily lasts for hours. Pro tip for osmanthus superfans with long hair: use K-Beauty La'dor Perfumed Hair Treatment Osmanthus and layer Roger & Gallet Osmanthus on top as a hair mist.

"Fleur d'osmanthus" v.2025/6 plays the citrus card too much in the opening, because even if it goes very well with the osmanthus, the initial effervescence melts irrevocably very quickly like snow in the sun. I'm not sure if the fragrance pyramid on this page is the same as the one in the currently marketed version (I don't detect any pepper or patchouli). I often use this perfume as a top-layer to add a touch of freshness to more gourmand fragrances, but its longevity is so minimal that it's not very useful. This eau parfumée is ultimately closer to a body mist than a perfume. As another member mentioned, a complete routine with this fragrance is recommended if you want the scent to linger. I think Roger & Gallet should significantly reduce the citrus notes in this fragrance to highlight the osmanthus more. It's quite fresh for summer, but hard to recommend in its current form, except for people (and I know they exist) who like to forget about their perfume once they step out of the bathroom.

I was not very convinced upon the opening of Roger & Gallet Fleur d'Osmanthus, as there seems to be a sort of mess of tea and ginger-like notes. However, given a few minutes, a beautiful osmanthus comes through. It's unapologetically fruity and sweet, without many green notes holding it back. At the same time, it smells natural and translucent, which preventing it from being cloying or saccharine. It's still slightly too watery to my liking, but overall, it's luscious enough for an osmanthus soliflore fragrance. The longevity is around 5 hours, and while it lasts, it's not too difficult to detect, although it stays close to the skin. If you're looking for a delectable osmanthus fragrance, or just a random invigorating fruity floral fragrance, considering the price and the availability, I'd recommend giving Fleur d'Osmanthus a try.

I am sorry but I disagree with truffles... in my opinion, Fleur d'Osmanthus is no way comparable to Light Blue. Light Blue is very lemony... Fleur d'Osmanthus has a strong orange top note, not lemon, nor apple... I wore Fleur d'Osmanthus every day this summer. It is refreshing thanks to the orange note, but it is soon replaced by the delicate abricot and leather scent which is typical of osmanthus flower, somewhat oriental.There is a bit of almondy sweetness thanks to Tonka Bean.Neroli is unobstrusive but combines deliciously with the osmnathus flower. I got many compliments with this one. However the fragrance doesn't hold at all, it's a pity... you have to reapply very often and it's quite surprising that people can smell it. Anyway it's cheap where I live. So never mind...

Picked up this perfume while on vacation in Paris, and bought it for the name. As many people have said, upon first spray the scent is bright, green, and citrusy, but eventually dries down into a sweeter more muted scent. I am currently wearing it for the office, as the scent is quite intimate and not very loud-smelling, and it smells bright, clean, and fresh. Good for after the gym as well. In regard to the osmanthus note, in comparison to Jo Malone's Osmanthus perfume (which has a much beachy-er, sunscreeny profile) it's a lot brighter and smells like the combination of the flower and leaves. So in terms of a "true" osmanthus scent, this isn't it. But it is still a great summer pick for daily wear going to the gym, the office, and everything else.

I tested it several times and it`s probably my fave of all R&G scents, along with Fleur de Figuer. Fresh, slightly citrusy and just about sweet, although I haven`t a clue if this is what Osmanthus really smells like or not..I also get bits of the tonka bean and the musk which works great here as nobody wants `justanothercitrusysummerperfume`. In colder climate it doesn`t last though and in warmer climate it has to be re-applied also, as staying power is not much more than 2-3 hours ( Fleur de Figuer scores slightly higher points in that department...) But it is still a brilliant composition, worth having a small bottle of it in your collection!

What a beautiful and uplifting scent..! Osmanthus sheer and tender, mingled with crisp sweetness of citrus. The citrusy notes reminds me of a clementine orange, juicy and tarte. Got many compliments from both men and women : ) I get osmanthus all the way, but it definitely steers towards "fruity" than "floral" category. If you are not a fan of overly flowery fragrances, don't be afraid to give this a try. The overall effect is transluscent, slightly sweet and very likable. I would recommend this for spring/summer days and night. Smelling it would really put a smile on your face. LOVE!

This is sooo pretty! definitely a happy scent. Relaxing, casual and effortless elegant. Osmanthus and apricots with a very clean base. Sweet but fresh at the same time. Zesty, vibrant, luminous. This is not a romantic, sexy or flirty scent. Nt at all. This is a very simple, yet almost perfect scent. Everything I want after a long day of work. Yeah, this will be my new bed time scent. I just want to associate this beautiful smell with relaxation, comfort and restoration. I also got the body lotion which by the way is super silky. What a little treasure!

It finally arrived.. I've never liked blind buys but had reasonable hopes for this (considering the price). I was actually pretty mad at all the positive comments here when I first sprayed it because it smelled cheap and generic, worse than my old Honeysuckle Green Tea from Elizabeth Arden, but once it dried down, I could finally see what [some] people are talking about. Started out from crappy sweet citrus floral to fake syrupy peach tea, then finally everything came together and I detect the impressive connection to Good Girls Gone Bad!

Right after spraying, Fleur d’Osmanthus smells like alcohol, followed by nose-piercing citrus notes. However, once dried down, a gorgeous osmanthus / apricot note takes over, and is here to stay. Natural osmanthus essential oil also has a leathery facet, besides apricot, but I do not get that one in here. The focus is purely on osmanthus‘ apricot side, which is rendered in a juicy, delicious and uplifting way.

I had my doubts at first, but after smelling it, I had to say it holds very true to Osmanthus. Very much like real osmanthus tea that my parents always drink(osmanthus blossoms are usually sprinkled on top of fine green tea). My mother commented that it was a very nice smell that she'd love to have, so I really wanted to peg this down for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, it's not for sale where I am anymore. :(

Fleur d'Osmanthus performs best in the heat. I sampled this in a store when we are having a rare Seattle 80* day in mid September. It’s refreshing and clearly centered around osmanthus, and a citrus note but only briefly in the opening. About 5 sprays lasted over an hour. I think the entire Roger & Gallet line is great, I have yet to sample a stinker. Super easy to wear and and super easy on the wallet.

Became my go-to-bed/sleeping scent. I can't detect the pepper and patchouli only the zest of citrus and fruity notes of apricot ant osmanthus. Outfit: an egyptian cotton PJ or lounge wear, bed with an egyptian cotton sheets after putting ur night skincare routine Wanna give it a try on the Gym but worry to lose the relax vibes it gives to me...

It is a sweet, pretty, summery scent. I liked it initially but found it a little too sweet at times. Would probably not purchase again. I think it is better of young women (in their 20's) or teenage girls. A little lacking in sophistication.

I was charmed by the collection Roger & Gallet. This fragrance was the one that most caught my attention, is somewhat most remarkable than others of this brand. This brings me a sense of freshness, comfort, lightness ...

A cheapie, but a goodie. It's just a very happy, pretty floral scent. Osmanthus in all its glory. Not too sweet, not too sharp. I normally wear in to the gym in summer months.

The soap bar and the eau fraiche smell a little different. I bought the eau based on the soap smell. Very nice! Citrusy/flowery/woody! A must for summer days.

A very light osmanthus and peachy scent, almost like a light aureole enevloping you. Perfect for a tea room in the spring time. Horrid longevity.

This review is for the revamped wellbeing water version. According to the roger et gallet website the notes are simply mandarin, osmanthus and benzoin. I adore the fleur d'osmanthus shower gel so was really looking forward to trying this. I am really disappointed. I get about a milisecond of juicy mandarin on initial spray, then we move into the apricot like osmanthus. This immediately becomes a barely discernible skin scent and the whole thing is gone without trace in less than 30 minutes. Very poor value for money as this was not cheap, particularly in view of the atrocious performance. I'm not quite sure who this is aimed at or what the point of it is? If you have lots of money and don't enjoy being able to smell your perfume then this is for you? No matter how much I spray I still can't smell it. Huge disappointment. EDIT Nov 24 After letting this sit for quite some time it has greatly improved. I still don't get the bright citrus of the shower gel but the osmanthus is definitely there loud and clear. I use this as a linen spray now and it lasts a decent amount of time and makes my sheets smell gorgeous.

I love this one on the bottle - fruity, fresh, open and invigorating. Made the mistake of purchasing it without trying it on. Big no-no: I hate the way it smells on my skin. It lasts a bit longer than my favourite perfume (which is Fleur de Figuier), but longevity is still bad. Probably 3 hours and then you have to re-apply. I am actually thinking this is probably a problem with all Roger & Gallet fragrances, longevity and sillage is always bad. Well, their fragrances are usually cheap so you get what you pay for.

This smells like almost nothing on my skin. And what I do smell makes me think of You Fleur, which I also don’t like. I don’t know how to accurately describe it. The fragrance completely dies on my skin, leaving a suffocating smell that doesn’t seem compatible with hot and humid weather.

During my trip to Asia, I fell in love with Osmanthus and its head turning scent. It doesn't smell like real Osmanthus, maybe a bit in the dry down. Too sweet for my taste.

I tried it in the store and on me, it's sadly mostly a bitter grapefruit note. :(

All I want, is a fragrance that smells like REAL osmanthus flowers. Why is it that after 20 years of looking,it appears that no perfume can achieve that, when you can easily go into a 7-Eleven in Taiwan and purchase a ready-to-drink packaged osmanthus iced green tea with the fragrance of heavenly osmanthus swirling inside your mouth? Obviously, someone was able to create flavoring that wonderfully mimics osmanthus flowers. But all the talented perfumers of the world cannot? Just baffled. Roger & Gallet's version did try. It opens as a watery fresh, citrus and woods scent, very spring and summery. After a few minutes, a delicate sweet floral emerges and that's where the osmanthus supposedly enters. It got the delicate and sweet part right, and it's a very nice sweet floral, but it doesn't quite capture the osmanthus flowers I obsess about. To most people, it might be close enough, but it does not satisfy me....I'm very demanding! I guess I need to stop trying to smell exactly like the flower I love and instead just lug around a pot of osmanthus plant when it flowers, whereever I go! I would recommend this fragrant water anyway, because it is very very nice indeed, while it lasts, which isn't long.
