Gingembre Rouge Intense

nice... I like the original Gingembre version too ... am doing side by side, they are similar , although it looks as though this one, Rouge Intense is slightly more citrussy and bright while Gingembre original is a bit more powdery. It is slightly strange as Rouge Intense does not have citrus note, while Eau de Gingembre does. Anyhow, it may be the distinction between ginger note and ginger flower note? Eau gingembre has both and apparently Rouge Intense only the ginger flower. Whatever the reason, Rouge intense to me is fresher and brighter. With regards to performance, Intense does seem to have more projection and tenacity.

I’m not sure how this is accomplished but I pick up a berry note. On my second wearing, I would describe this is as a fruity ginger scent because I don’t distinguish the spices. It has a pretty opening, kind of sharp and juicy, the drydown is light and doesn’t project. I get about 1.5-2 hours of performance. I’m a fan of this budget line, and in years past always picked up some inexpensive soaps as souvenirs whenever I visited Paris. Unfortunately this brand is not easy to come by in the U.S., and when you do find it, the cost is quite a bit more. If I lived in France I would own several Roger et Gallet’s, including this one.

As my comment below shows, the notes listed above seem to be totally different. However, having worn this a while I can give my impression which is of very fragrant fruits, a hint of burnt sugar and nice twist of ginger though not ‘spicy’ as such. It lasts really well and develops surprisingly a slightly pleasant masculine edge. I love it and can see me wearing this a lot this coming Autumn. It makes for a great evening fragrance also as smells a little high end and wouldn’t be out of place on a man who likes a sweeter fragrance either. It’s a love for me.

Tested a spray on my hand. Soft, fresh, natural and slightly spicy. Pleasant and happy. Unfortunately, not intense at all. After 5 minutes I have to put my nose next to the place I sprayed if I want to smell anything. It does last at least 5 hours as a soft, skin-close veil of very beautiful natural and soft scent. I would like it, it is very beautiful and pleasant. I just wish it was slightly stronger.

Got a sample of this wit another purchase, I think CK All. Since I had no idea what it was, and I generaly don't care much about the male/female classification, I gave it two wearings to testit out. Well, it's basically spiced up D&G Light Blue (the "woman" version). Same attitude, a bit more peppery and vibrant, and less soapy. It's inoffensive and has a parfumy vibe but not too pronaunced. Nice, but nothing groundbreaking, if you like the, quite boring in my book, D&G, you'll like rhis one too for granted. Longevity is about 5 hours, guess it could do better in springb or autumn, with light projection (it's indistinguishable feom Light Blue from some 1,5 meters od distance) and has an OK sillage for some 1 to 2 hours. Have no idea what's the price range with this one but, were I into it, wouldn't pay more than 20 Euro for 100 ml. A C+, because it reminds of the forementioned butvis less boring from up close.

Recently, I rediscoved Roger et Gallet. I used to buy their soap since many years but I never try the perfume line. When I was looking for a fig perfume, I try Fleur de figuier (parfum intense) and immediatly felt in love with it. I was not expecting a ''real'' perfume from that house but more ''cologne'' in the way of their old classic Jean Marie Farina cologne extra vieille or soliflore. I was really happy to find a modern juice done by a great contemporary nose, Francis Kurkdjian. I was curious to try their other parfum intense, Gingembre rouge. This one is another love at first sniff. It's spicy but also fresh at the same time. It's such a nice surprise. I hope they will add other ''parfum intense'' to their line. For me Roger et Gallet is synonyme of quality and chic and I adore their new design/image.
