Le Jade

Ok, I see I'm the first reviewer of Le Jade. I bought my bottle on eBay at least 10 years ago and although it's a vintage bottle, it's not one of the ones in exotic packaging. Mine is a little bottle about 3 inches high, with a screw top, which I think originally had one of those tiny rubber stoppers in it when I got it. I don't know how old my bottle is but I would say it's from around the late 1950's. Or maybe from the last 5 years or so before they stopped making it. I don't know when they stopped making Le Jade, but I was buying Roger Gallet soap by 1970 and I don't remember Le Jade being sold then. They made a Le Jade soap and I would have remembered it and bought some if it had been for sale in 1970. My bottle has the original price sticker of $3.50 on the back. Ugh, the good old days. I'm sure I didn't pay that on eBay. The fragrance itself is pleasant enough, and must have been considered exotic in the 1923 , when they started selling it,and 1930's, when they were selling all those gift sets. And that exotic green glass snuff bottle looking flacon; be sure to look for a photo of that; Google Images has photos. Le Jade is a green scent of course; the juice is bright medium green. I think they marketed this to women but it isn't very femmie, at least not to me. Of the notes listed, it seems more lime, bergamot, and sandalwood, with lesser amounts of musk and tonka. There's vetiver in the drydown, but don't expect heavy vetiver or patchouli or any vanilla at all. It lasts on my skin at least 5 hours. It's worth looking for a good but cheap bottle. I used to think I wanted Roger & Gallet to bring this back, but they've done such a miserable job of making fragrances lately, long before they weakened them to meet the French restrictions, that I wouldn't want Roger & Gallet to try. Maybe someone else. DSH?
