Open White

I'm very surprised with this one, as it goes in the different directopn from other Open fragrances. I would say this is quite an unisex fragrance, unlike Open and Open Black wich are more masculine. My opinion is that the notes mentioned here on Fragrantica are not very precise. White is very similar to Armaf Sillage, it's in the ballpark at least. I would add a white musc as a base note, and some fruity note, black currant maybe. It is a very nice fragrance.

I don't understand how some says this is a clone of Tom Ford FF when this was released way before FF I get light powdery ambery almond type experience The Tonka beans and patchouli is evident Overall it's a very pleasant smelling perfume And no brainer 6.80$ I use this mostly when going to bed It's a great scent for relaxing Definitely for fall winter

Fresh and spicy. yes - there is a Body Kouros and Pi vibe going on and it gives off a nice silage. Not much Iris (which I hoped for) here, but there is lovely anise and almond notes. Open White is a really nice, clean, spicy perfume with an effective silage. I love it. Definitely a fresh spicy juice.

Roger & Gallet's Open line is one of the best values for the money in the fragrance world. Open is 80's fougere powerhouse with suprising depth. Open Gold is a warm, spicy fragrance that lasts for ages. White starts out quite unique, and given the 10 or so different fragrances that people compare it to, is hard to pin down. I am glad to see that I am not the only one to notice the almond note that is not mentioned in the profile. I am also getting a red delicious candy apple note that is in part due to the significant tonka participation. There is some bergamot early on, some patchouli and anise later in the development, but they are secondary players to my nose, on my skin. Mind you, I am used to strong anise barbershops like Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and Azzaro Pour Homme, so I may have a different frame of reference. I get little to no hints of yuzu, incense or violet. The first 15 minutes provide a very unique but not fully likeable opening. Fortunately, this smooths out into the tonka/almond main accord pretty quickly, bringing to mind Percival and Caron Pour Un Homme. The other noted elements rise and fall in the background, but the fragrance is quite linear. By the 2.5 hours mark, with five generous sprays to the chest/shirt, this is a personal scent, giving moderate/light wafts. What remains is a slightly sweet, warm and comforting tonka/vanilla with light almond and patchouli notes. Charming, and I can understand why a prior reviewer said that he applies this before bed. With all that said, this does not have good longevity and it does not end up as something unique and powerful like its other flanker brothers. It would probably be pretty good for romantic encounters, maybe even with someone who doesn't like fragrances, because at the 3 hour mark, this comes across as more of an enhancement of your natural skin smell and less of an applied fragrance. It is also unisex, and can be worn by both genders from 16 to 70 years old. For $19 for 3.4 ounces, it may be perfect for you. For me, it is likeable but isn't in the same league as Open and Open Gold.

I love perfumes with anise aroma. That delicate sweetness of anise its present in a natural way in this elegant formula. Start with a touch of yuzu and anise changing into a more sweet powder (probably because the violet ) that make me think of "German Springeler" (Springerle are German anise-flavored cookies that go back at least 700 years in their rich tradition ) " Not strong, but just the right amount. That smell stay for long on you and after 3 hours it changes into the tonka bean and patchouli but still you can smell the delicate sweetness around. I cannot notice the Incense or iris. Probably because it creates the right mix to complement the others ingredients. On me last close to 6 hours. Moderate sillage. Doesn't change much (only two phases) but it is elegant and sweet. To me, easily unisex. Good quality for the price.

I can't wrap my head around this. It smells VERY alcoholic at first, like anise-based liquor, then in 30 minutes it turns into a very unusual creamy and powdery scent, I can mainly smell anise and...kinda like almondy smth in there. I have to say, I like it because it's unlike anything else I ever smelled, sadly it lasts just 3 hours on my skin, and it turns into a skin scent in almost no time. This can be worn year-round to me. Doesn't smell anywhere near Sillage, I don't know where the other commenter got that impression from.

I have a hard time with this one. I don't like it all that much, but it is hard to describe why. Plenty of people point out the almond note, and I understand what they are saying even if I don't necessarily agree. It isn't like it has almond oil in it, but the composition itself hints at that, but not really, because it is almond-like but that's not quite it. Certainly, the florals are prominent the violet and the iris, and that oddball almond not-almond is at the base. It is unique. I'll give it that, and it really bears no resemblance, no common dna, with the others in this line. You know how fragrances have overlap. This one doesn't seem to overlap with anything that I know about. It stands alone. It is floral and clean. Nobody is going to think you smell weird, but just sort of clean and nice, but not in a way that is familiar, if that makes sense. I seldom reach for it, but I wore it today, very hot and humid, and that was ten hours ago and I can still smell it on my chest hair, so yeah, the performance of this is pretty incredible, especially for the money. A woman, a clerk at the auto parts store, told me I smell nice. Really? I didn't expect to ever get a notice or a comment when wearing this one, but that just goes to show you what I know. Sometimes its a good idea to do something counter-intuitive just to see what happens.

To me i can smell the yuzu loud and clear,it smell more like givenchy monsieur,80 % identical... Its fresh with a 70's DNA vipe nothing modern.its alright i use it as an after shave or at the gym.

The combination of top notes really resemblances a lavender scent. Overall, it is a very pleasant unisex perfume, non boringly clean and intriguing. I am pleased :)

Similar to givenchy pi, anise common

This fragrance does have some similarity to Body by Kouros. However, there is an off-putting note in the fragrance that smells like moth balls. I like anise and violet, but it may be the combination of these two notes that is giving off that moth ball smell. It is floral, so you could say it is a violet moth ball scent. It stays with the fragrance from the top to the bottom, and I don't like it. I like Kouros Body, because it does not have this moth ball accord. I don't get any of the base notes in the fragrance. It's linear, and the only time it is tolerable is when the moth ball accord fades away and the scent is basically gone. I wasn't going to review this, but I thought I would warn others of my experience with the scent. It's dirt cheap, so if you love moth balls, it will be the best $15 bucks you can spend. If this is what the Tom Ford smells like, I don't want that one either.

Hello all, I just setup my account and this is my first review. I'm a beginner and my olfactory palate isn't as refined and sensitive as some, but here's my pedestrian opinion. What I get from Open White is fresh baked biscoti. I bought this "on-the-blind" as I often do. I can't say I'd buy this again, and I rarely use it. Perhaps it's just what you're looking for but, as for me, I'll stick with my beastly big hair & gold medallion juices!

Like the previous reviewer, I can understand the "fresh baked biscotti" perception. It's not quite that gourmand but the gourmand element is obvious. It doesn't change much, so you'll likely smell like this for a long time. And while it doesn't have substantial depth, it does smell natural, especially at this price level. I'm not sure I get any patchouli, perhaps a hint at some point, but it's easy to layer a strong patchouli scent with this one if you like. Overall, I'd give this a high rating for those who want something exactly like this but don't want to spend much. Also, I don't know why this wasn't marketed as unisex.

This is certainly like nothing I have owned or smelt before. It is one of three Opens I have owned, and the only one that remains, and there is plenty left in the bottle. I used the other 2 up. This one is challenging for me. I rarely reach for it. I guess I could describe it as a thick and fresh almond smell.

Opens very powdery and spicy for around 5 minutes then it drys down and smells like givenchy pi mixed with tom ford fabulous it has some resemblance its more old school has a little bit of baby powder/baby wipe smell and its much sweeter

Open White definitely sits in the same wheelhouse as Jaguar Classic but feels like it’s made with higher quality materials. Overall it’s a great three season fragrance and I would recommend giving it a sniff.
