Thé Fantaisie

I'm a huge fan of Roger & Gallet products and Extrait de Cologne collection was something special. Unfortunetly, it's no longer in production. I went through countless bottles of Néroli and Tubéreuse, but this Thé and Cassis were just a bit too sharp for me. In summer heath they cut through the stickiness with rare efficiency and poise. This Thé is the most persistent tea based perfume I have ever encountered. I enjoy the freshness that reminds of the smell of hot iron. The same can be found in DKNY Women. It's like wearing white shirt that stays pristine all day long. The longevity is impressive. Apparently, there is another Thé, a replacement, in classic cologne concentration, but in my experience it's probably sweeter and diluted version of this one. As usual, shower gel smells even better, addictive little thing. I will enjoy it as long as my bottle lasts. Often it reminds me of Bvlgari's Thé Blanc and Voyage from Hermès. I enjoy my chai masala even more while wearing it. For some reason, not entirely my cup of tea, but truly remarkable, nonetheless. Update...well, it took me years to understand it and now that it's out of production, I regret I didn't took my time to get to know it better sooner. I only bought this bottle because I knew the jig was up. Well, there is still new Feuille de Thé and maybe it's even good.

I don’t know why this reminds me of Valentino Valentina, V&R Flower Bomb, and another perfume I can’t recall. To be clear, I am not saying it’s exact. I am saying it’s of the same family. It’s less sweet than it’s line sister Tubéreuse Hédonie. The middle notes are more prominent and distinct here as well but aren’t in the order listed on Fragrantica. For example the citrus and tea make up the heart, the cardamom appears with the woods as base, the florals including geranium and MAYBE peony and iris and tea come first. It has this citrus peppery woody oriental accord. I like it but wouldn’t personally wear it. It lasts longer than Tubéreuse, I liked the top note better here, but preferred the die down of the other. The base here is banal and mainstream. There’s a sense of familiarity that is maybe reassuring to some and may appeal to many. What it lacks is adventure and unique personality. This isn’t bad though, some prefer it that way. I would definitely get this for my mom and sister who like the aforementioned fragrances. Top: floral Middle: citrus and pepper Base: wood and pepper

This scent is delicious. It's not a milky cup of tea like BPAL's Dorian or a Christmas spicy tea like Serge Lutens 5 O'Clock au Gingembre. Personally I don't get a lot of the fruity top notes on my skin, they're present to the extent it lends some sweetness to the mix. The pine and the coriander are the strongest notes to me in the opening. Next I get the tea and the pink pepper. I love pink pepper and I think it's used really well here. For me the final dry down is woodsy with some remaining traces of that pink pepper. I love tea as a beverage and if someone had asked me to describe what I would want in a tea inspired perfume I don't think I would have gone in this direction, but I love it. It's so delicious it could almost be a gourmand if it weren't for the woodsy notes. The longevity is decent for a cologne, and I definitely think it could be worn by anyone.

A few moments after spraying it over my hand I smelled tea, vetiver and woody notes and thought that it reminded me a lot of Kieh's Vetiver and black tea. After a few minutes it turned into a sweet bubbly lemonade. A bit too sweet to my taste. Then tea notes started appearing through the citrusy sweetness, but it wasn't the initial black tea anymore, rather the green one. At some moments the lemonade took over again, but lost its original sweetness. Finally it settled down as a green tea with lemon, much like Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea. Non-offensive and pleasant.

This is the perfect freshie for the gym! Smells yummy and spicy and refreshing. I have not tried the new reformulated version of this yet but the neroli was a downgrade :( EDIT: This was one of my favourite scents before the reformulation. In classic L'oreal fashion this has become a ghost of its previous version. You dont get any spices and the scent is much more faint, even if the old version was an eau de cologne.

Smells really delicious. Lots of juicy orange/citrus, tea, and spices. This is a great spicy scent for hot weather that doesn't lean masculine. I spray fragrances on my clothes as well as skin and my friends could smell this when they were nearby. I smell it just fine throughout most of the day. The price is right and I like the bottle design too, so this might get repurchased if I ever use up my bottle.

The Extraits de Cologne line from Roger and Gallet left me surprised. Thé Fantaisie despite its low sillage has an amazing staying power. It's very interesting, aromatic, sensual, velvety, airy scent, very pleasant. Personally, I don't really bother with tea scents, but the colors of this line caught my eye, so I'm examining all the perfumes available. Tea and bergamot are very apparent; the rest of the notes, I don't really catch them. Unisex, good quality and affordable. Well done

Already discontinued. R&G changed their line and a new Feuille de Thé is launched... I just can't stand these two... Incredibly long lasting on my skin (24+ hours).

I have never tried anything by Roger & Gallet before and it’s not because they don’t offer anything that would appeal to me. It just never happened to make a ping on my radar. For whatever reason, I don’t feel like they receive as much exposure when compared to similar brands like Yves Rocher or L'Occitance. Perhaps they do throughout other places in the world but definitely not in my part. I do understand that they were a very reputable house at one point but recently, especially after being acquired by L’Oreal, have flown under the radar more in recent years. I have been curious about Thé Fantaisie for a while but I didn’t want to buy the dreaded reformulated version that many people are complaining about on here. I found a moderately priced bottle of the old version recently and had to try it. Given that this is an extrait de cologne concentration, I knew what I was in for in regards to longevity and sillage. Honestly, after testing this out for a short period of time, it outperforms some of my EDP’s and EDT’s. I knew that I would enjoy this because it’s a citrus, aromatic, fresh scent with tea. In reality, Fantasie is more complex than what I would have originally imagined it would be. It’s not a scent that transitions from one layer to the next, in fact it stays pretty linear. Sometimes you just want to reach for something simple when you’re at home relaxing or to center your senses when you have a long, arduous day ahead. It gives me the same sensation that Tommy Girl used to back in the day when I was working and trying to get through school. Fantasie is also a part of the ethereal category of fragrances. I consider perfumes in this category to be the soft, encompassing, and rejuvenating scents that don’t wear or define you. Rather, they meld to the natural chemistry of your body and amplify the cleanliness of what’s already there. I can’t really pick out a particular note once this has settled on my skin for 20 minutes. It just all blends together to create a spa-like, tranquil smell. I’m sure that a majority of people could reduce that to being boring but I find it captivating. The bottle is beautiful even though mine has a few scuffs on it from being pre-owned It has a very kitschy Marie Antoinette vibe to it. Packaging and quality both have seemed to suffer as a result of L’Oréal’s acquisition but I am happy to have an original bottle. I’m sure this will layer beautifully with other perfumes well. All in all, this is a great one to explore if you enjoy a zen scent.

All of the notes listed here look like this should be an opulent fantasia - but I just get a classy little wisp of lemon tea and then ... no wait, that's ALL I get. Very pleasant indeed, as lemon-tea scents often are - very evanescent too, as the rest of its class nearly always are. None of the fascinating-sounding ingredients in its bottom end (all those woods, spices, and herbs!) which are indicated on this page really make themselves felt on my skin. It's just clean, spare, light, refreshing green tea and citrus all the way, and not for all that long, either. Unfortunately this sort of fresh, airy, citrus-tea treatment never lingers as long on my skin as I would like, whatever the price point - whether it's the reasonable cost of R&G, the mid-level niche of L'Artisan's Thé pour un Eté, or Berdoues Assam of India, or the high-end class of Nishane Wulong Cha or Kilian Imperial Tea, which all smell pretty similar to this, NONE sticks to my skin for an acceptable length of time except Ormonde Jayne Qi (which is of course the most expensive.) So that's annoying. Thé Fantaisie is extremely pleasant, never acrid, nearly beautiful at some moments, but it just can't do the heavy lifting. I might feel differently if I lived somewhere so hot that fresh-tea scents were a daily necessity, and I'd never object to wearing it ... but at the moment, my feelings towards it are more cool than warm. It's fine. But it's not a star.

Reminds me of the long time defunct Bergamote Tea from L’occitane . But it also has green tea for sure, I thought it was supposed to be black tea . It’s quite strong in the beginning , and Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea comes to mind , in a more refined version, and definitely with plenty of Earl Grey . There is some note combination here that gives a musky trail in the mid notes , probably the cedar wood. That remains until the drydown . I am not a wood lover so I would have preferred anything else other than cedar, but it’s not bad. Lasting power is good. I don’t really know what extrait de cologne is supposed to be . Is it Edt ? Edp? No idea . But it isn’t Edc ... Silage is good for the first hour too , but then it’s becomes my more quiet . If you like fresh tea scents , or Earl Grey variations , it’s a safe blind buy . Could be unisex , it’s fresh , pleasant , high quality , not too sweet, decently priced .( $80 plus tax for a 100ml bottle ) It made me curious about the entire collection , I might need to get another . Edit : I wore this several times . I thought it was gone after a couple of hours but I received compliments for how good and herbal I smell after 3 hours Edit again . I got the Tuberose Hedonie , it’s gorgeosu too and similar to La chase aux papillons . I think I want more from this collection , it’s great !

This is my absolutely favourite scent of all times. It's fresh and complex without being harsh. All notes smell very natural - no artificial echoes at all. It is a citrusy/herbal/fruity scent with a little bit of powder to it. There is nothing overpowering, heavy or cloying in it. Some very high quality black tea has light citrus notes in it - this scent plays on that, and I can smell something like currants as well. It is sweet, but not headily so. In terms of longevity - I get whilst of it 2-3 hours after spraying, from at around arms length. It lasts in a subtle way for quite a while. 11/10

Beautiful, complex, fresh tea scent, I can see why this is a big favourite for lemon / tea lovers (my sample partner put a little heart on this sample and I see this is his signature - definitely signature worthy.) It is subtle enough for summer, but lots of complexity to it, beautiful tea, lots of citrus, and also spicy and creamy but not at all overwhelming this could be a beautiful spring / summer scent. I will get this for myself if I find a good price on it. No synthetic notes or nasty notes, very smooth and wearable. ** 200 samples for swap UK - check my custom shelves, get in touch! **

The opening is a bit too citrusy for my taste, but after an hour or so, it gets softer and more pleasant. It gets woody, softly spicy and a bit rosy. It also gets sweeter. It is not really original, but it is well done. Not my favorite tea fragrance, but, again, not bad. Feminine and simple, i am sure a lot of people will like it.

lovely but unisex tea with kardamon and nutmeg. Then it starts to be too light to notice any development of the scent. Not really my type, but nice - spicy tea. I am shocked that a scent so simple was created by so many notes. Maybe another time I will have a better experience with it :)

I found a sealed bottle in a thrift store.It was a blind buy but I was sure to like it because you can't go wrong with Roger et Gallet. It's always good taste and quality. Sadly Roger et Gallet are no more available in Montréal...I don't understand why.

Smelled this on a client! Very woodsy and spicy yet clean. She smelled GREAT!
