Amber Aoud

These citruses don’t simply flash and vanish; their longevity is striking, lingering as a cool, luminous trail that stays visible even as the composition deepens. Fig steps in early, tilted more toward its leaf and the velvet rasp of its skin than toward syrupy flesh, lending a textured greenness that prevents this brightness from ever feeling naïve or juvenile. Ylang‐ylang then etches its petals into the light, a golden sweetness that acts as an elegant bridge between this sparkling top and the florals that follow, softening the edges of the citrus without blurring them. At the heart, a classic Middle Eastern damascena‐style rose emerges—confident, concentrated, and fully in command of the frame. It feels like a seasoned leading lady: no coyness, no pastel romance, but a rich, saturated rose that anchors the entire narrative, as if wearing a gauze palatine of lemon and lime around her shoulders. Smoke begins to creep in, not as tar or ash, but as cloud‐like apparitions of purple lilac haze—suggestive rather than abrasive—rising from the interplay of oud, birch, and resinous warmth. This haze does not smother the rose; instead, it casts her in soft focus, enhancing the damascena’s depth and allowing the fig and ylang‐ylang to read as glints of light refracted through the smoke. The oud here is of unmistakably high quality: neither musty nor dirty, never veering into barnyard or medicinal territory. It is noble and upstanding, perfectly aged and impeccably executed, more like polished dark wood in a panelled drawing room than a wild or unruly animal. Ambergris, cinnamon, and civet weave the golden threads beneath this structure, slowly warming the composition and creating flashes of molten amber that throw highlights onto the rose and oud. These notes don’t shout; they smolder, moving the fragrance from luminous to incandescent, creating an almost cinematic glow—as if the scene has shifted from stark monochrome into a subtle sepia without you noticing the transition. Oakmoss quietly catches the trailing citruses, deepening them, making them more grown up and grounded, and introducing a chypre‐like facet without fully transforming Amber Aoud into an actual chypre. Patchouli, sandalwood, saffron, and musk reinforce this foundation, adding woodlands and animalic hum that frames the composition rather than dominates it. The result is a complex architecture where brightness and shadow are held in precise tension: citrus and fig keep the air moving, while oakmoss, oud, and ambergris keep the feet firmly planted on velvet carpet. This equilibrium gives Amber Aoud a film‐noir poise—an aura of polished danger, of someone who knows exactly how the story ends and walks through it anyway. On skin, Amber Aoud reads as masculine‐leaning, with its smoky oud, grounded moss, and animalic‐amber undertones, but never collapses into a stereotype. It is perfectly suited to a strong, confident woman who wears structure and presence as naturally as a well‐cut coat, - Carmen Dell’Orefice in Thierry Mugler tailoring not an ingénue in chiffon. There is no softness for its own sake here; the softness is always purposeful—ylang‐ylang sweetening the citruses, fig smoothing the smoky edges, amber wrapping the rose in warmth—each element calibrated to maintain an air of command. In that sense, Amber Aoud feels less like a romantic lead and more like a noir protagonist: poised, enigmatic, impeccably groomed, yet carrying within its golden depths the mystery of shadow and the memory of unspoken stories.

It's easy to smell Amber Aoud and fall prey to its spell. Taking the perfume name literally, and before trying it, I imagined a strong amber fragrance, like Amber Absolute, generously sprinkled with the finest oud from the far east. Pure mistake! The fragrance opens with timid, fleeting citrus that is immediately overwhelmed by a classic blend of Rose, Saffron, and Oud. An only slightly ambary ambiance does not do justice to the name the perfume bears. Roja Oud identifies the notes of Rose, Fig, Cinnamon, Saffron, Oud, and Benzoin as the key blending ingredients. One might be led to think that we have come across the umpteenth oriental Rose-Oud offer, but only a more refined one and quite more expensive. A few seconds are enough to realize that this is not just any ordinary Rose-Oud scent seasoned with Saffron. It transcends in perfection with small touches of sweet Benzoin and Fig that contrast with a salty Ambergris background. Despite knowing to be in face of a perfume composed of extremely refined ingredients and high concentrations, Amber Aoud still manages to amaze us with its perfectly tuned balance and beauty, without hurting or bothering anybody with its high sillage and projection. And then, very gradually, the fragrance evolves to a creamier and sweeter scent. It could be reminiscent of the floral notes present in the heart, but I suspect that this evolution is more connected to secondary base notes like sandalwood, iris Musk, benzoin, and cinnamon. It became a scent blended in heaven for the angel's and saint's pleasure. As we approach the dryness, the aroma is still hauntingly divine, although it has faded a bit of its initial radiance. In the air, I still sense several notes, and none of them overpower the others. I even forget the near absence of the promised ambary notes. I can't find a better definition than the one given by Roja Dove: "A creamy symphony of sweet, spicy, salty and woody tones embraces us in an enchanting experience that I have dubbed "The Amber Aoud Effect". My opinion about this oriental-woody masterpiece: My average rating suffers from the price low mark. The bottle bears the standard rich and flashy presentation of Roja Dove. It has superior ingredients and blending quality. The opening consists of an outstanding Rose-Oud starting stage. The base and dryness may well be among one of my very best olfactory experiences if not the best one. (But bear in mind that I really like Oud oriental fragrances). Just as a curiosity this is not the most expensive fragrance I tested. That dubious first-place glory belongs to The Night that I also like very much (also an oriental woody fragrance but way more animalistic). If I would have to choose just one of those two fragrances, I would probably stick to Amber Aoud, despite loving the animal facets of the Frédéric Malle perfume. I don't recommend it as a blind purchase because of its skyrocketing price. . The music: Sir Edward Elgar - "Pomp and Circumstance March No.1"

Having purchased the triptyque of Roja’s Aoud collection (Aoud, Amber Aoud, and Musc Aoud), it’s perhaps time to write a review. I’m not going to attempt to elucidate which is the best, as that is in the nose of the beholder. I’ll also not comment on price, as affordability is relative to your income level, and as such there’s no point in judging the merits of a fragrance based on its cost. If it’s not affordable to you, don’t go into debt to buy a fragrance. Amber Aoud was the first of the three I acquired. It opens with a sharp, almost acidic sensation that was a surprise to someone used to vanillic ambers such as Lutens Ambre Sultan, most probably a contribution from the citrics bergamot, lemon, and lime, perhaps assisted by the ambergris. Aside from this astringency, my nose doesn’t detect overt lemon/lime facets. Also surprising was the rose that was immediately apparent. My memory of the fragrance from a vacation stop at Bergdorf Goodman’s was of a more woody composition, though I only tested the three Aouds there on paper. It was a good 3 years between that testing and my purchase from Neimans. The rose here is not a light, open, airy, or bright rose such as that in Malle’s Une Rose. Roja’s Amber Aoud’s rose is the essence of the rose’s heart. The aoud and woody notes play a supporting role to that rose, deepening it even further and melding with the rose overtones to give a solid foundation to the scent. The other notes lend depth and complexity, with the musks and civet working together to make this slightly animalic, giving it a more organic complexion than otherwise. The oud here is not barnyard like Malle’s Night (which I enjoy!). I’m not an expert in oud’s, having never trained my nose on the real stuff. Here it lends a more courtesan grace, mostly fastidious with a bit of just-got-off-the-leather-carriage-bench after a long ride from the country estate. Development has the sharpness of the acidic citrus decaying in 1-2 hours, though it’s never fully absent. The rose/wood chord is a gradual fade out with the rose dissipating a bit faster than the woods, though mostly linear. This projects strongly for 2-3 hours, then lingers at shoulder’s reach for 7-12 hours. I always spray on clothes only, so duration on skin is likely less. On a personal note, this is my second favorite from the three. Roja Aoud is my top choice as I find the sharp opening of Amber Aoud to be a bit off-putting. Roja Musc Aoud is a different animal altogether. I wear this exclusively at night, and since rose is considered a feminine note here in Texas, usually at home with my wife rather than out and about. Another in my collection, Moresque’s Rand, has great similarities to Roja’s Aoud and Amber Aoud. It slips in somewhere in between the two. If Roja’s price is a concern, even at discounters, you will likely be more pleased with Moresque’s Rand.

ROJA PARFUMS AOUD AND AMBER AOUD BOTH UNISEX I wanted to make a post of these Roja Dove’s two perfumes since there seems to be people who would like to know the difference of these two and if another one is redundant if you already have the other. You can check the differences from the notes of course but that doesn’t tell always how those similarities or/and differences appears. So here is my opinion. As I love Roja so much I have both: Aoud in 30ml and 100ml and Amber Aoud Crystal in 100ml. I like to have both and for me I feel that I need to have both. The difference is not so big for most of the people but it’s noticeable. Differences are: - Amber Aoud is slightly more sweet because of Fig in the opening and Benzoin in the base. - In the same time it’s warmer because of Ambergris and Benzoin in the base. (Ambergris is as well in Aoud but it’s not the main note.) - Aoud is more fresh and rosy. It’s more traditional Rose Oud scent. - Even if there is Saffron in both, Aoud is more earthy since there is less the main notes in overall so Saffron is easier to detect. - I would say that Aoud is not so complex than Amber Aoud. In Aoud it’s really easy to smell Rose, Saffron and Oud separately while in Amber Aoud its 5 different main base notes are really well blended. - Aoud is the first one of those three (Aoud, Musk Aoud, Amber Aoud) which Roja launched so it is like the most simple one. If you want a real Rose Oud scent go for Aoud, if you are not a huge fan of traditional Rose Ouds, you can love Amber Aoud. MY OPINION: If you like AOUD, you will like Amber Aoud as well but not automatically in the other way. These both perfumes are suitable in the same kind of occasions, they share the same kind of feeling and character despite of the differences. They are attractive, seductice, rich, complex, mesmerising, utterly luxurious and absolutely in among of the best scents ever. The juice of the original perfumes is very dark and it stains clothes permanently so Crystal versions of those scents are very practical. I love to wear these scents during a summertime and with white clothes so clear juice is great with them. The scent itself is identical with the dark, original juice, only the colour has been removed.Both perfumes are unisex. I hope this will help some people to choose between these two chic, captivating and mesmerizing perfumes. Musk Aoud is by the way totally different and unfortunately it’s discontinued due to the regulations of certain natural ingredients. #185 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Roja Parfums "Amber Aoud" "Twas beast killed the beauty" (Apologies to King Kong) Good Gawd this is a brute! When I opened the sample vial yesterday, I couldn't bring myself to apply this bunker-busting concoction because I had to go out in public. I had the vial open for seconds and my entire office reeked of this stuff. Nevertheless, this morning I summoned my courage and dabbed this on gingerly with a fingertip. This stuff projects like an IMAX (Two hours after I applied this a super-attractive 20-year-old barista standing a yard away says, "What are you wearing? It's smells amazing!") Of the 184 fragrances I've previously tried in this process, this is the first to scare me that it would never lighten up. But I like it kind of the way I like sexy (not pornographic) horror films. Super strong rose and fig going on here. Strongest I've experienced. Almost wrote this off as a grandma scent the rose is so overpowering at first, even headache inducing. But that rose does fade down in fifteen, the other middle notes outlast it by an hour plus, especially the fig, and the base notes are all day persistent. There was a brief period during the opening when something like a burnt meat scent popped up but disappeared in a few minutes. This stays strong for a very long time. Even at an hour and a half I thought, "If a date smelled this, she might think I bathed in it." So, I love it, but I would be very, very conservative applying it. Only a lunatic would overspray this before going to the office. This cannot be worn in tight spaces for a couple of hours at least. If my carpool partner had this on, they would have to call an Uber. I would even have your date meet you for dinner at an outside table to give this some air. She'll still pick it up, trust me, but that way it'll be intriguing, not overpowering. Don't blind buy this, not even at a discount. I checked out the pricing before actually opening this up and I understand why this is $500 an ounce. It's super-concentrated. But I think for many this scent may be more potent than you'll like. There's no rating button for "I love it but it's kinda scary", so I just gave it a "love." I already have a dozen oud scents, maybe more, so I won't be getting this any time soon, but when all else is exhausted I'll consider this scent, but at the current price I'd have to think on it very hard.

Many people, including myself, give Roja Dove a really hard time for their pricing and marketing (which upon analyzing is pretty solid from a business side but that is another discussion). Many of the scents just dont seem to hold up to the extreme price tags: some smell like well made clones of Guerlain, and some come across very delicate in a world where expensive price is automatically expected to yield mindblowingly potent, strong, cloying results. I was not a Roja person. I really loved A Midsummer Dream, but I disliked the other three I had tested on paper prior for reasons stated above: they seemed too light for such a price tag, and I had went in with an already disappointed attitude. However, as the marketing is designed to, I have still been fascinated by the brand. The ultra luxury status of the brand made me intrigued, much in the same way someone will stare at a Bentley driving down main even if they claim Bentleys are ugly. So when I got the chance to smell Nuwa and Amber Aoud, I did so. Amber Aoud changed my mind on Roja. It is such a rich, thick, seductive, but ultimately balanced blend that no fragrance nerd in their right mind can say it isnt an extremely well made perfume. Amber Aoud makes rose-oud interesting again, while also making it mass appealing and intoxicating WITHOUT losing the fecal side of a dirty oud. How many fragrances out there can say that? Most stinky ouds are frowned upon by the crowd-pleasers, banished into the world of people like me, the so called niche-scum. But Amber Aoud doesn't care. It is sweet, jammy, spicy and rich in woodiness that is undercut by a carnal, animal, sexiness. It evolves constantly. It is everything that makes a fragrance great, right in front of your eyes, but you have to ignore the glitzy bottling, the golden plate, the jewels, and the name "ROJA DOVE." Give this an open mind, and let the brand that so many hate greet you with sincerity of scent.

I thought I would do a comparison review of Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux (AAAP) and Amber Aoud (AA). They share similarities but to my nose are surprisingly different. AAAP has less citrus in the opening, less aoud, less rose, more fig and other sweet elements. The dry down for AAAP is more linear, sweet, and figgy. Overall, more opulent, and slightly more feminine. AA, I can detect the citrus in the opening, however the aoud/saffron notes are more prominent, the rose is more present, not as sweet, and the drydown is more complex with some of the contrast notes such as birch. AA is more unisex then AAAP, however never becomes overtly masculine. How to decide on which to purchase? I actually believe having both would not be redundant as they are (to my nose) are surprisingly different. However, having both is cost prohibitive as they are both quite expensive. The AA is more smokey/oudy, less figgy, more rosy, not as linear. Saffron and oud are more prominent and the birch in the base is more contrasting in the drydown. If you like more contrast in your fragrances, more oud, then the AA is the way to go. If you like more of that fig note, sweetness, and more opulence then AAAP is the way to go. If gender classification of a fragrance is important to you then I would suggest that AA is more unisex/masculine of the two. I personally enjoy AA more because I enjoy the more contrasting notes versus the pure opulence of AAAP. Final thoughts: both are amazing and provide enjoyable wearing experience. Oh, sweet sweet chypre. How I adore thee. Your bountiful fruits, your bitter mosses, your filthy musks. Come to me, and envelop me in your riches. Your filthy stinking riches... I couldn't afford this if I tried - unless I sold one of my kidneys. And I have to admit that I do feel a bit of a berk wearing it, climbing out the driver's seat of a Ford Fiesta. But when I'm at work or home, nobody knows... I am a king! This is so well blended and utterly heavenly - each wearing reveals new riches. My first was a sweet, fig and jammy rose - opulent and initially a bit sickly for me, but once you get used to it, sooo good. And it's backed and contrasted by the most gorgeous salty ambergris and civet hum. Very sexy. Very moneyed. The next wearing opened up the oakmoss, birch and the cinnamon. A totally different side of the same fragrance. Beautiful and very clever. The next time the ylang-ylang came out. I have to admit, I was expecting the other kind of amber - the mosquitoes in orange goop kind (vanilla and resins) along with some aoud. Trust Roj to opt for the expensive version of the former and go with ambergris! I'll be jiggered if I can smell any oud though, certainly not enough to justify naming it after its 'chief ingredient'! Overall, it's an impossibly luxurious, sweet fig, ylang-ylang chypre. Gorgeous as hell. Possibly with some oud (the creamy woody kind) to add body, certainly with some ambergris to give it some salty crispness. It is so plush - almost soft and squidgy - and has had all its sharp edges smoothed down with luxury. When's it's this good, who needs sharp edges?

This is top shelf stuff. This is the best sweet, creamy, woody, floral, spice fragrance I own Amber is generally a fantasy note. It is an accord of several ingredients vanilla, vanillin, benzoin, labdanum, incense, musk, patchouli, tonka bean, coumarin. Only musk and patchouli are used here. Ambergris is the amber of reference here. It is an excrement of whales often taking on a musky, sweet earthy, or woody aroma. Synthetic Ambergris Ambroxide, Ambrein, Ambrinol often used are a chemical compound created in a labratory. This is not used here. Molecule 02 is a good ambroxan reference. Another great natural Ambergris fragrance is Spell 125 by Papillon Artisan Perfumes. Amber Aoud by Roja is an excellent sweet woody rose fragrance. Many ouds smell like you just drove past a cow pasture with the windows down. It is gross. This oud has a sweet nature. Combined with the sweet earthy Ambergris, the sweet chocolatey patchouli (no hippies here), the sweetness of the cinnamon, the creaminess of the sandalwood and orris, the slight spice of the saffron combined with the cinnimon, the floral of the rose and jasmine... I would say this is the best sweet, creamy, woody, floral, spice fragrance I own. The citruses are not noticeable to me. This is also somewhat linear. I also do not detect the fig. I have Philosykos EDP by Diptyque and it is one of my least favorites with a big fig note. I would compare the rose oud in this to Ardent by Boadicea the Victorious. Excellent stuff! I found a 100ml for 380USD. Worth every penny!

This is gorgeous. I got a 2ml sample of it and thought it smells just like the Oud Satin Mood that I already have at first but once it dries down, it runs its own course. It’s Ambery, the rose is not as jammy, more Oud detected, and the ambergris gives it a slight animalic. Performance is not as beastly as OSM but more rounder, though still very good performance but just not as loud (still not skin scent) so the Amber Aoud is more versatile and wearable while I have to be careful on the occasion using OSM because it is so strong. Last about 10+ hours on my skin while OSM lasts 12+ hours. Actually I shouldn’t compare them together because they only have similar opening and they’re both rose Oud combination. They’re very different after the opening. I got to be honest, the Amber Aoud has even better quality (divine quality) than OSM, although I thought the quality of OSM is already so good. It’s just smoother. I still love them both. I’m going to get a 100ml of it now. The problem is, I don’t know which version I should get. I got a sample of the crystal Parfum version too and they smell the same but I found the dark juice version has slightly better performance and thicker than the crystal version while the crystal version is safe on clothes. Anyone can help me with choosing?

Amber Aoud opens with the most realistic, juicy fig note with bright and sparkly florals such as rose, ylang and jasmine, accompanied by refreshing hints of bergamot and lemon. It’s a much fresher and fruitier opening than you would expect for an oud fragrance, but it’s stunning nonetheless. Following this, it develops a robust heart with intense sweetness coming from the fig and saffron, but with a slight earthy bitterness and warm spiciness from the oud, civet, ambergris and cinnamon. Amber Aoud takes a while to completely dry down as the sweet fig, saffron and cinnamon lingers leaving an addictive and alluring scent trail. Eventually you are left with sweet florals of rose and saffron, expertly blended with an oily oud and creamy ambergris. The warm spices linger gently overall creating the most addicting scent bubble that just oozes quality and class. Amber Aoud is simply stunning, however despite how much I love it I personally think Aoud and Musk Aoud are better. Amber Aoud is slightly overhyped and overpriced, and judging from the name you would expect the oud to be more prominent. Nevertheless this is a modern masterpiece and one of the best floral ambergris scents on the market, a must try for those who adore sweet fragrances.

But for those who appreciate true artistry in perfumery, the investment feels justified—a 10/10 in every sense.

I recently got to experience and compare new batches of Amber Aoud (new packaging, rounded bottle corners, no signature at cap) with my older batch (older packaging, sharp corners, Roja’s signature at the cap) and I did make some observations. The newer batch is lighter in color (perhaps my older batch got darker with time). The scent of the newer batch does not have the strong fig note that was pretty noticeable on my skin with my older batch, making the new batch feel even smother and sweeter. I personally was not the biggest fan of the strong fig note in the older batch so to me the new batch feels more wearable scent-wise. However, I find the performance of the newer batch to be worse than the older batch. I have very cool skin and even the older batch did not have the best performance on me. But my experience with the new batch was similar to that of a reviewer Sondae, with very poor longevity and very weak sillage. My older batch lasts about 5-6 hours with moderate to weak sillage. The newer batch lasted about 2 hours with weak sillage. So the bottom line: scent-wise I liked the newer batch better, but performance -wise the older batch wins by far.

This is a gorgeous rose-based perfume with notes of spicy saffron and warm and intense ambergris. I personally do not detect the oud at all. If there is any oud here, it's soft and subtle, not like the Diptyque's Oud Palao which is very intense and "infected" smelling. This oud here is definitely not dirty but is rather woody. The most prominent note for me is a wet rose (similar to rose de mai), followed by saffron, which gives it an interesting sweet hint, and finally ambergris at the base (similar to the one in MFK 540 - intense, bright, synthetic-leaning, loud and obnoxious). I absolutely love the spice accord, dominated by saffron and cinnamon, and maybe even slightly presented by the fig. This rose is very unique, and is not floral at all. It's rather a statement-making wet rose with intense qualities. It's not photorealistic either (like the Red Roses by Jo Malone or Eau Rose by Diptyque), nor is it fruity like the one in Delina. Instead it's woody, spicy and somewhat sweet. It's an amazing and very unique perfume. I must admit, I have never smelled anything like this before!

After finally acquiring a bottle of Amber Aoud, I feel I can write a second review now that I’ve been able to wear it more often. This opens very similarly to the original Aoud, hints of lemon and bergamot alongside a floral medley of rose, jasmine and ylang compliment that classic woody base perfectly. Soon after the spraying, a juicy note of fig emerges which takes the first steps into a sweeter direction. This sweetness is intensified by cinnamon, saffron and a delectable Amber accord of the highest quality. Alongside this is the classic salty ambergris and oud duo which is so loved in the original. Amber Aoud is an absolute masterpiece and I can see why it’s the best seller from the 3 - it’s simply the most captivating. Where Aoud is dry and regal, and Musk Aoud being clean and subtle, this one truly pulls you in and seduces you straight away. I find this fragrance to be much more youthful, playful and versatile than the other two Aouds. Such a beautiful creation perfect for evening wear when you’re looking to attract others.

Beautiful perfume, very well blended and you can tell with quality ingredients, but for the extremely high price I expect it to last longer than 3-4 hrs before completely disappearing, it’s not even a skin scent. Roja is doing the same thing all the other big Niche houses are doing, weakening their perfumes but keeping the prices high. As if we don’t notice . Well I have noticed and I’m disgusted and will not be re purchasing. Yes it’s a beautiful perfume, but I have many many equally beautiful perfumes that last much longer. Mr Roja should be ashamed of himself. Greed has taken over the perfume industry. We need to let them know we are not putting up with it by hitting them where it hurts, in their pocketbook. They’re laughing all the way to the bank at our gullibleness. They only get away with it IF we the customer allow them to get away with it. They will deny deny deny not having weakened their fragrances when it’s so obvious that they have. So in other words believe their lies when we know better. SMH the utter nerve.

Very nice perfume, I only have a decant coz Roja has gone crazy with those insane high prices. No perfume is worth $1500. Or even $750. If I were gonna buy this one I would try to find it at a steep discount or just not buy it, I have many much more amazing perfumes to wear. I wish ppl would stop paying these outrageous perfume prices, then they would be forced to lower their prices . I’ve seen it happen. I don’t care how expensive you ppl assume perfume ingredients are, trust me they’re NOT that expensive to warrant paying $1200 or even $400 for 30mls. That’s just the perfume house being GREEDY AF . And none are greedier than Roja and Creed. I can afford to pay, I just choose NOT to. Because I’m not an idiot. I know exactly how much they pay for the ingredients. And they are seriously ripping the consumers off like u wouldn’t believe. It’s the same with the cosmetics and skin care industry. Sadly.

It's more about the rose on me. A quite jammy rose with a soapy character. That's the main body of the fragrance. The rest just plays around it. I get a sort of thick spicy amber that i get in Ambre Sultan. I know this gross and TMI but it kind of reminds me of the semi-caramelized, salty and funky scent of dried semen. I'm assuming its from the saffron and ambergris. I don't really know what those notes smell like but i blame those two for that spicy salty animalic ambery bit at the opening. The oud on the other hand is way at the background. From a distance I don't get it, its just a soapy rose, but at the drydown when I put my nose up to my skin i get it peaking through the window of this house made out of rose. The opening had my financial status at threat to how that spicy, animalic ambery jammy rosey madness impressed me. But as i live with it throughout the day...maybe no

Beautiful, full bodied and dense. Not too dense for summer in general, but may be too much for very warm humid weather. It's got a beautiful oud-rose combo, with a warming amber and spice mix, and a velvety smooth scent in general. Oozes quality and complexity. However, the price is a big herdal. I know the ingrediencies are expensive, and you get what you pay for. But still... Unfortunately, from late mid/early dry down, it smells like a beer on my skin. I don't know where that comes from, but it's a Very photorealistic beer smell. I don't like beer, so extra unfortunate for me. But that's Not normal, so don't worry. Personal score: 8/10. Lovely, sceductive, warming and comforting. But the price is high, and it makes me smell like a beer after an hour or two.

Great scent, criminally bad performance. Plus, for all the prestige and ridiculous prices of this brand, this isn't offering anything new, nor is it serving me the dazzling beauty and wonder of similarly priced oud fragrances. There are so many things I'd go for over this due to the poor performance and lack of originality. For me this brand is just way too cunty and elite, and while they do have some good perfumes, they seem to have been perfected into oblivion. There's no charm, no edge, nothing to make me come back. And it's not just the price, I mean I have bought perfumes in the same price range but to me the Roja Dove ones are worth a quarter of what they're asking for at most. Update: dries down to a very synthetic-smelling woody amber base.

citrus, fig, rose, ambergris, saffron and aoud bomb. this scent is not for the beginners out there, but i can see the art behind this formulation. its surprisingly light in the air but quite dark & heavy when smelt close on skin? the animalic notes is mostly from the ambergris & oud, not the civet so don't worry about that. overally a really good amber & oud scents for amateur noses, nothing too simple nor too challenging. this is a wonderful creation by roja himself. best worn during evening or night. however, i find the ambergris and saffron to be quite prominent in the drydown, and this makes the aoud more subdued, doesn't shine as much when compared to his og aoud. overall, 9/10

This is an absolutely beautiful, unique and very versatile fragrance. Give it a few wearings and you'll appreciate how impeccable the balance and the blending is in it, don't judge from the first time. And most importantly: Wait for the drydown. Citrusy, fruity (fig-y), spicy and warm at the same time. I put it in the same category as L'homme Ideal EDP, not scent wise, but in terms of the masterful blending between notes of opposite spectrums. Ylang-Ylang, fig and ambergris are most dominant on my skin, followed by oud in the background hovering around the base like a warm blanket. It also lasts and lasts and lasts with great projection. Signature scent worthy (minus the price).

I think Amber Aoud is a beautiful perfume, extremely well-blended. It’s a syrupy dark amber with a base of smooth oud and a touch of jammy rose with cinnamon. The syrupy quality seems like it comes from a very ripe fig. But really, every time I wear this I think “raisins.” Chewy, sugary, dark raisins on bran flakes. I also notice orris, which becomes more apparent into the drydown. It creates a lovely softness. A very distinctive and elegant frag. Sillage is great! It drifts easily up to my nose for many hours, as though I’d just sprayed. I only spray each wrist once. It’s a sweet fragrance, but I think it’s perfectly unisex. Lasts 12+ hours, no problem.

This is a masterpiece! Such an elegant and smooth Oud perfume. If you are afraid of Oud this is definitely beginner friendly - it’s sweet, opulent, soft and very refined. No note stands out, everything is so effortlessly blended. The best way to describe it is warm, sweet and woody. It’s perfect for male and female but to me it leans more feminine because of the sweetness. The rose is so perfectly blended and balanced with the other notes that even a hater of rose would love this. 12/10 and i would definitely recommend as it projects and leaves an intoxicating and addictive trail with a slight gourmand quality.

Roja Amber Aoud (2012) - fig oud - I ended my search for another oud fragrance right after I smelled @rojadove ‘s perfume. I said to myself - it could never get any better. This isn’t Amber like #ambresultan but a Rose, Oud and Ambergris. To contrast the heavy woody base, I get sweet and ripe Figs, Leather, Spices, and a floral powdery accord. It’s so hard to pick out individual notes as the fragrance is so well-blended and complex. Also, after smelling real oud, this one has it! As a whole, you will get this creamy fig and rose accord on a woody base. It billows and radiates off skin like a gem. Must try.

The charms and mysteries of the east, blended to perfection with the delicacy and refinement of western perfumery. Amber Aoud is a top notch Oud perfume, that shares to similarities with other MFK perfumes. This one smells very refined, elegant, and most importantly natural. There's a very good balance of all the ingredients, while the Agarwood has a supporting role, creating a woody vibe for other notes like the dry fig, the dusty rose, and the bitter jasmine. Performance is average, still its a must try for everyone enjoying Niche and Ultra niches out fragrances. Wonderful.

A bit old lady feminine. It has that old smelling civet, oak moss, rose combo that was popular in older women’s frags from the 1930s-60s like Youth Dew, Joy, Shalimar, etc. If you like this one I suggest checking out Youth Dew. This is a decent frag as far as quality of ingredients goes but it’s a little too simple and boring for what you’re paying, also it’s not something that I care to smell like as a 40yo man. Overall, I haven’t been impressed with the Roja oud frags, for the money I think Bortnikoff and Areej La Dore generally are much better for Oud in this price range.

I'm going to be boring and lazy here but... Roja's website describes best what I'm smelling in this scent (see below). I have nothing to add, except that this is one of my absolute favorite scents in my collection! This is a fantastic fragrance truly spectacular however as I have an extensive collection of Ouds/Aouds from fruity to smokey I don't need 500 for this.If you have money to spend but like to spend it wisely I'd go with Oud Satin Mood still expensive but less so. Or even more affordable better performance but a tad bolder less redined is Oudmazing by Montale.However don't get it misconstrued this is class in a bottle if you just want one rose oud and none other get this.I just think there are other smart ways to get the same affect.

I have a very ordinary nose that can't really distinguish notes apart from each other. This one has a smooth, sweet floral opening, very elegant. Dry down turns into this wonderful, somewhat sweet powdery scent, can't stop sniffing myself! Projection is medium I'd say, but long lasting, easy 10hr with 4/5 sprays. Comparing to the original Aoud, this one is a bit smoother, sweeter, which I prefer. The opening/mid of the Aoud smells a bit of bitter/medicinal to me, but after that, the dry down becomes wonderful.

I made the big mistake of trying this fragrance out of curiosity and well... I absolutely love this, how thick the smell feels and how you don't notice each individual note but the whole thing at once. This is magical... BUT sadly the price is way too much. This has honestly become one of my favourite smells and I will keep hunting a similar smell to no avail for sure. This one kind of reminds me of Oud Satin Mood by MFK but they are still a diferent vibes. I'll keep on dreaming for a while.

My bottle just arrived & couldn’t wait to try it! Interesting notes. On my skin I get foremost Saffron & hints of Wild Turmeric,the lovely musky Curcuma Aromatic variety not the cooking turmeric. There is the creaminess of Mysore sandalwood underlying the notes. I don’t get much else. It is beautiful! Reminds me a little of an Emporium I visited once in Mysore,India. Exotic! As with most Roja Dove, the longevity is good.

I always get compliments on this one although I enjoy my Musk Aoud even better. I also collect real oud, Chinese oud, Indian, Thai, Cambodi etc. and I can say that 99% of fragrances at department stores do not contain real oud which is why I can see childish uneducated reviews here but I digress. Roja knows his ouds and I certainly love and appreciate his work.

I really enjoy this. In fact, this is probably my favorite easy-to-wear oud and rose. This isn’t funky at all despite the civet, and it’s very high quality. For me, this is the better version of MFK’s Oud satin mood. They are in a similar category/DNA, but Amber Aoud is deeper, more textured, more masculine, and smoother. Such an opulent scent!

My god, this is one of the best smelling fragrances I have ever put my nose to. I smelt it a few months back and smelt so good. It smelt a million bucks. Also, a great performer with and it lasted 2 days on my skin no joke. Great as a signature scent or going out to a fancy dinner. This God-like fragrance is a masterpiece from Roja. 20/10.

Purchased my most expensive perfume Amber Aoud $765 directly from Roja Dove website Extremely disappointed with the performance of the perfume, sits too close to the skin and hardly detectable unless putting my nose to the area I sprayed! So sad, the so much money for nothing! The scent is amazing but just not worth so much money

This is something I literally cannot get enough of. I wish I could wear it more, but living in a warm climate limits it to mostly nights in my opinion. This is also my special occasion fragrance. I love wearing rose and floral notes and this isn't too masculine or too feminine. This is a masterpiece, plain and simple.

Wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I do. Ridiculously beautiful soft rose amber scent, perfectly unisex with incredible performance. Frightening price, but I can’t see something of this caliber when it comes to quality ever getting duped. So to me, this is worth the steep price tag. An honest 10/10 for me.

Smells amazing, you can really smell the quality. A very strong and complex scent. Starts fresh but the rosy, smoky oud scent comes really quick. It reminds me of MFK Oud Satin Mood but different. Way too overpriced though. You could theoretically buy 2 fragrances in the €180 - 200 range with its price.

This really is a masterpiece and I do not say that often. The fig is the predominate note that is supported by the sweetness and smoky background. Then there's a sprinkle of dirtiness by the civet. Overall it is very addicting, intoxicating, & super sexy scent.

I'm going to keep it very simply - I have many Oud oils, and Oud styles, this has to be one of the most opulent western style Amber/Rose/Oud combos that has ever graced my nose, it is stunning - the same applies to all Roja creations I've smelled or own.

One of the most captivating and complicated scents on the market. Somehow does this orchestra of florals without being too cloying or overly feminine. Put this on and you'll smell like pure wealth ironically, because this will break your bank account.

I agree with @manofpleseantscent — the notes are hard to distinguish, but rose stands out. To me, it’s a strong rose fragrance with a hint of citrus, and a base of oud and saffron. It truly is a beautiful scent: complex, yet surprisingly easy to wear

ELEGANT DEEP ROSE Gorgeous fragrance. A rich floral. Yes, Unisex, but leans a tad female. (/Florals tend to.) I don't need another fragrance for that special evening with that special someone. If I did - this would be a top contender.

Holy crap this is no more different from the hell cheap Supreme oud which I bought as oil. It's got the same profile same notes. Even the cheaper oil projects better. Huge price for zero uniqueness and novelty. Not recommended!
