Aoud Extraordinaire

Not only fruity scent but a dense, vintage style rich floral with Ambery base This fragrance has received very mixed reviews, and some of the reasons I completely understand, some I don't. Of Roja's latest releases, Isola Sol (you can find my review) and this one are the ones that have caused a lot of emotional turmoil. I think the biggest reason in both cases is the name, although personally, the name Isola Sol fits the scent quite well (more on that in the review of that particular scent). Aoud Extraordinaire , on the other hand, as a name, gives a completely different picture of what the fragrance contains and if you are very inexperienced with Roja's fragrances, then I understand the disappointment. However, if you consider the other fragrances in the Aoud collection, then Aoud as a word in Roja's fragrances has never meant a heavy, challenging Oud, so why would it hear? Take Enigma Aoud (Parfum) for example, which is one of the most beautiful and elegant clear fruity fragrances: the amount of Oud in it is also minimal, but just right to bring the necessary depth to both the peachy scent and the peachy soft powdery character. I think the bigger issue is the word "Extraordinaire" since for many of us Chypré Extraordinaire is the best Chypre in that style, in that category ( Diaghilev , Femme Rochas, Mitsouko, Jubilation 25 Woman etc.) and the combination of those two words "Aoud" and "Extraordinaire" made many of us think and imagine some very special Oud scent, possibly distinctly oriental, and it led to huge disappointments and emotions because it wasn't. Aoud Extraordinaire opens up with an intense cocktail of fruits, with only Pineapple clearly standing out first. It also blends in very quickly with the others. As the fragrance develops, the clear fruity aroma fades slightly and the huge floral bouquet typical of Roja takes the stage. The heady scent of the flowers remains under the fruity veil for an hour, yet creating an elegant and adult style to the scent from the beginning. When you add to this a complex base, where depth and a subtle darkness as well as softness and sweetness come from many notes, it is very difficult to find a similar concoction (or even close) in existing fruity or floral fruity fragrances. I am happy to accept suggestions, because fruity fragrances have been difficult for me precisely because they are either too youthful, too clearly juicy fruity, too simple and/or shockingly synthetic. Most often, fruity fragrances combine all of the things I mentioned. If there is something comparable, it is unlikely to be at the cheapest end of the spectrum, and I personally don't need it, because quality rarely comes cheap. If this fragrance were a simple fruity scent, if it only had the top notes with some musky base, then it would be generic. However, this fragrance is much more than that. There are no three dramatically clear phases in the fragrance, but there is usually nothing more in Roja's fragrances, but all the scents are skillfully, elegantly and ingeniously mixed. However, those phases are always distinguishable. If you are familiar with Roja, Aoud in the name or Oud in the ingredients does not necessarily make the fragrance an Oriental, so I will mention it now so that this does not cause disappointment or misunderstanding. Don't expect overly sweet or clear Cotton Candy or Caramel either since they don't perform in that kind of way. Caramel for example is not like in Lost in Paris. As the fragrance progresses to the 1.5 hour mark, the abundance of fruit fades into the background, while still maintaining the irresistible, a tad tropical undertone like the vibrant and luminous vibe as well that fruits give to this style of fragrance. The scent is also extremely unisex, thanks to the deep, intense and Ambery base, and it is not too sweet at all, thanks to the floral heart. On my husband's skin, the leather and Vetiver come through more than on mine, which partly changes the experience of the scent. The texture is extremely thick but I don't find it creamy. Fruity scents can also easily be made too strong, making simple scents tawdry and somehow girly, while such a dense and rich scent like this would feel suffocating, even though the quality is the best. Although at first I myself thought that the scent should project more, this way it is more versatile, especially for the work environment. Personally, I love this luxurious, golden, energetic scent and especially the phase it develops into after an hour, which lasts 6-7 hours. On clothes, the scent lasts forever. Fruits are always welcome in my fragrances, as long as they are not clearly edible or drinkable and are part of a more complex blend like they are here. This is definitely not that typical feminine fruity scent and if you are sampling this one, please give it at least a couple of full wears. The magic really happens when the aroma of all those fruits fades. First, this didn't made that kind of wow effect like for example Turandot, Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie 15, Chypré Extraordinaire or some others did but there is not this kind of scent in Roja's catalog so after the initial astonishment I started to like it a lot and I found there some kind of vintage style complexity that you find in 80s floral fragrances. The packaging is more minimal than that of some other niche brands, but it feels elegant and refined. It may lean slightly feminine in its aesthetic, but it still conveys a sense of quality and understated luxury. Moving on to the fragrance itself, this is where it truly shines. From the very first spray, it clearly feels like a high-concentration extrait de parfum. There is even a subtle, oily, almost moisturizing sensation on the skin, suggesting a rich presence of essential oils (30%), something often missing in many modern “extraits.” The projection is excellent, and the longevity is solid (around 6 hours on my skin). While it may not be an all-day powerhouse, it performs very well and maintains a beautiful presence throughout its evolution. On blotter: the opening is slightly less sweet, with woody and ambery tones, vanilla and vetiver, a soft, musky, slightly powdery texture (likely cashmeran), and fresh citrus and tropical nuances. As it develops, floral notes begin to emerge—heliotrope, geranium, and lily of the valley—adding depth and elegance. On my skin, the fragrance becomes more rounded, sweeter, and more expressive. What stands out the most to me is a beautiful honeysuckle-like accord. Although the official notes mention jasmine and cotton candy, what I perceive is unmistakably honeysuckle—lush, slightly nectar-like, floral, and delicately sweet. It gives the impression of being immersed in white flowers, almost like a floral bath. This note is the true highlight of the fragrance and feels incredibly natural, vibrant, and well-blended. The scent evolves into a rich and nuanced composition combining warm amber and woods, vanilla, and a soft toffee-like sweetness, floral accords (with a strong honeysuckle impression), and subtle tropical and citrus facets. The drydown is "creamy", slightly powdery, and musky, while still retaining that outstanding floral sweetness. It feels unisex, with a slightly feminine lean, mainly due to its floral, nectar-like notes.

You need this bottle, loaded with volatile high naturals, to rest for at least a week after the disruption of delivery, or you will either have an imbalance of notes, or the entire composition will be muted. Perfumes are fully macerated (soaked) when bottled. They need rest after bottle shock, and aging/maturation can richen certain notes and color. This is amazing! This fragrance takes you on an intoxicating journey. It's opens with a tropical fruit explosion with emphasis on mango and pineapple. 15 minutes later it segues into light, bright and watery florals with a touch of that fruity sweetness lingering about. The next stage takes you in to gourmand bliss! The ambery, toffee notes get very creamy, sweet and just downright edible! This may be my favorite stage. At the very deep dry down you get very gentle hints of oud and clean, gentle leather. The oud and leather by no means take prominence. They are gentle pops woven in beautifully. Nothing is jarring or overwhelming. This is not a screamer. This is not a heavy, masculine eastern oud. If that is what you are seeking, search elsewhere. If you prefer western style fragrances, are timid with leather or oud, and prefer easy to wear fruity or gourmand fragrances, this is for you! This is definitely a new profile for Roja. I hope he continues on this trajectory. As a western female, I find this much more appealing and wearable than his previous eastern style oud perfumes. I’m delighted for a Roja oud that isn’t so masculine or heavy eastern style. This is very mass appealing, luxurious and easy to wear.

Beyond beautiful! Aoud Extraordinare is the quintessential warm weather ‘fruit bowl’ scent, but elevated and refined. It’s difficult to pick out any individual fruit notes, but the overall impression leans tropical to my nose. Florals are there for support and contribute to the feminine feel. I really only notice the orange blossom and jasmine. But I think the cyclamen is bringing in an airy and fresh aspect. The dry down is wispy vanilla, cotton candy musk with soft, fluffy cashmeran and oud. This oud is soft and sweet rather than medicinal or animalic. I don’t find this to be powdery on my skin, but I would describe the texture as ‘fuzzy.’ The only down side to this is performance compared to price. The fruity top notes fade after about 1-2 hours and it’s a faint skin scent at 4. Otherwise, this is a perfect fruity floral scent for spring and summer. This was an instant love and went from a sample to a 100ml almost immediately.

I absolutely love this one - It completely blew me away, and I had to buy it immediately! Sure, it might look like a hodgepodge of fruits at first glance, but to me, it’s a delectable fruity floral with a tartness that feels beautifully balanced. The dry down has just enough weight to ground it. I don’t pick up on the oud as others have mentioned, which might be misleading given the line/name, but there is a suede-like finish that adds a soft, refined touch. PS - The Fragrantica staff or monitors really need to clean up some of these ratings. I’m so glad I tested this fragrance before checking the reviews, because I might have skipped sampling it otherwise. It’s unfortunate to see a bunch of “adults” arguing back and forth, which has clearly impacted this stunner’s ratings.

Well done roja, very complex, it does somehow have perfect versatility, changes alot quite seamlessly. On the nano scale it might lean feminine, I would sample it first though this could very well not be ur jam, very fruity, I don't get alot of oud, I love the masterfully blended floral mid notes, and once that base kicks in it's really really enjoyable, I don't usually wear fragrances twice in a row but this one did it, I do find it to have structure like how some people didn't, I have no problems with performance here, im getting 8-10 hours before becoming skin scent. That's with 3 sprays coming from a 2ml sample. And it certainly does smell expensive, I don't have anything quite close to it so it is unique in my collection, check it out on my profile if you want.

Aoud Extraordinaire by Roja Parfums is a delightful and captivating fragrance. It possesses a sweet and fruity aroma, with a prominent and radiant mango note. The overall composition is highly enjoyable and pleasant. However, despite its name, I did not detect any noticeable oud presence in the fragrance. Therefore, it may not be considered an extraordinary oud fragrance. Nevertheless, it remains an exceptional and remarkable scent that is highly recommended for those who appreciate sweet and fruity fragrances. It is important to note that it is a relatively expensive fragrance, so it may not be suitable for everyone's budget. Overall, I would rate this fragrance a 9/10.

Joyous and feminine. Sparkling fruit cocktail at the beach is the picture I am imagining. To coneptualize and "Aoud" fragrance that is "Extraordianaire" and resulting in this beachy scent is quite misleading to me. No oud is prominent to my nose. I do enjoy this one. As of now I own a full 100ml bottle and a 10ml travel size, one has to go. The fabulous aspect of this scent is how smooth it is. Usually with a lot of fruit tropical fragrances, they make them screechy and off-putting. This is not the case with Aoud Extraordianaire which is an attractive trait to have.

I love it even though I completely agree it is misnamed! :) Fruity, floral fragrance with a little oud support in the background (you can smell oud a little better in the deep dry down while it gets completely drowned by fruity floral concoction in the opening). Good longevity, below average projection. Very feminine leaning IMO. Exquisite blend! This should have been called SUMMER AOUD and would make more sense!!! PS Reminded me of PDM Valaya Exclusif a little at first. If you like one, you will probably like the other....

I'm hoping to have my 100ml delivered this week, in time for fall/winter or as us Brits would say autumn. I really like this and definitely more feminine in the opening but becomes more masculine the longer it's on. Definitely unisex and will come down too individual taste but give it a few wears if on the fence or contemplating buying full size. I get easily 12 hours with mild to moderate projection. Easily wearable all year especially with opening giving it a summer vibe.

Oud is actually pretty strong in the drydown (like Sweetie Aoud strong, almost). Not sure how people arrive at the reviews below (questionable samples or fake bottles, maybe?). This is a very delicate but strong sweet floral woody scent (gets woody in the drydown). Excellent longevity, strong projection in the first 1-2 hours, get more tame later in the woody stage. While this is nowhere near Aoud or Amber Aoud, this is a very lovely fragrance for a lady!!!

Beautiful scent, very feminine, sophisticated. One of the best I’ve had from the Roja. Not sure it’s worth it price wise but it’s beautiful nevertheless. From the name I mistakenly expected more of the Oud but no 😆 it’s sweet and soft. Not too much in your face. I receive many compliments when I wear it. I wear it in warm weather but taking it for traveling for skiing as well and will see how it behaves in cold weather.

The first notes are very sweet, fruity, and powdery. This quickly gives way to a powerfully sexy and alluring scent dominated by vanilla. The amber and vanilla do not excessively overshadow the subtler florals. The strongest notes may be enough to turn off a sensitive nose, but the fragrance develops into a fairly mature and pleasant scent that will be enjoyable for most.

I got a sample at the launch event, this is a very well crafted fruity floral oud fragrance. Typical Roja quality and performance, I really like it, have to wear a few times to see if this is worth the price tag but this is a very masterfully blended fragrance in a very crowded field already as it is. Must sample if you like oud based fragrances.

Frangratica is full of a bunch of snot nosed balding men who hate everything in their life. this scent is so gorgeous i was shocked. I've never smelled anything like it before, so sweet, and rich, and ambery, so edible. My favorite fragrance of all time. i only wear it on special occasions.

This is beautiful and perfectly unisex. Definitely overpriced for what it is. But you get something very high quality and unique. Not to mention it’s versatile enough to be worn all year round. Any season, any reason. Picked this up alongside Elysium Intense and couldn’t be happier.

This is a beautiful golden, sparkling and uplifting fragrance. It's well blended, smooth, bright, yet cozy. There is oud, but this is certainly more of a western oud. It is beautiful and I wear it when I want t to feel illuminated and happy.

I have this fragrance however it's wayyyyy overpriced and the silage is weak and after about an hour and a half it becomes a skin scent on my skin. Maybe I'll try it again with some unscented lotion on next time.

Absolute perfection. Apart from Guidance 46, the only perfume that I smelled that is so perfect, I wouldn't change anything about it. Smells like liquid gold to me. So sophisticated, luxurious, seductive, 10/10.

Floral, fruity opening, dries with a suede type note with some woods. Adds a sense of creaminess to this cotton candy like scent. Performance however....come on now :(. Smells 10/10 Performance 4/10.

For those who like a fruity-floral and want a nice well-blended one. It's like Britney Spears finally grew up (and stopped posting strange videos on IG). If you loved those BS types but want a great quality version - try this. The aoud is not the nasty oud in cheaper fragrances - nothing funky at all, here it is just a wood note that is hardly felt. This is cute, but not my style. Neither were the BS fragrances though.

700 € for a fragrance is quite a bit of money, so the scent has to reach for the absolute best. Aoud Extraordinaire doesn't achieve that, but as a fan of sweet scents, it's nice and luxurious, although quite feminine.

for the price just get something else. 7/10 purely on smell

Another sad-to-see but unsurprising cashgrab from ROJA this year - a brand clearly working towards an acquisition of the business's majority share. The fragrance is pretty disappointing: thin, light, overbearingly synthetic in its unconvincing florals and thin woods, but a pleasant (if jumbled) fruit opening that leans decidedly towards mango. No discernible oud, just a predominantly cashmeran and ambrox base weighed down with the fuzzy synthetic blonde woods/cashmeran. First came the Elysium flanker, then the mainstream obnoxiously loud Apex, then the cheap-smelling Elysium Pour Femme and Aoud Extraordinaire. It's disappointing. A brand that once stood for irrefutable quality is now churning out ludicrously priced versions of mainstream releases. Ultimately, a brand is free to price their fragrances where they want, but pitching this as an "Extraordinaire" addition to the line is easy to debate when compared to the brand's Amber Aoud it sits alongside; sticking to the party of line of 'we use the large percentages of the finest naturals' now feels a little empty as a statement, given these recent releases. A perfectly acceptable tropical fruit opening - quite tart, bright and fizzy, and by far the most pleasant part of the fragrance. If complemented by rounder, more substantial floral accords and some woody naturals, this could have been a winner. As it stands, the top notes fall away into something scratchy and thin, and lacking the titular oud. Think Enigma Aoud, thinner, and with a tropical, slightly green, slightly sulfurous, slightly melon-like opening with a very prominent green mango accord.

As someone said below comparing Isola Sol, I tend to agree it’s an extension of that fragrance with more fruits, lots of orange blossom and a slight sour oud note, but nothing that’s challenging. In the opening I definitely detected the oud with a sharp pineapple, before the array of florals kick in. In the latter stages the sweetness increases and you do pick up that candy floss and toffee note which smells really nice. I would say it leans slightly feminine on a spectrum, and sits close to the skin. I need to wear more to really experience, and to let the bottle macerate also.

Sampled Aoud Extraordinaire from an official sample vial sent by Roja. This is an intense cocktail of fruits and florals on a dense base of musk , very smooth with a bit of a soapy vibe thrown in. Honestly though, I think there's a tad too much going on here. Being used to the high quality (earlier batches of) Enigma Parfum Pour Homme , I thought AE smells good but it doesn't have much class, it's as if it tries too hard. Not something I'd pick to wear when I want to look sharp. AE is nice to sample but that's it.

Nice , pleasant sweet fruity bit of warmth but nothing special at all in any direction or simply in skilful composition , it’s a why did they bother fragrance , the only thing spectacular about it is its overinflated price tag and ego , extraordinaire it most definitely is not , also oud or oud accord is MIA, forget not challenging it’s not there . Someone said masculine Middle Eastern , this must be the imaginary version because it’s definitely not what I’ve lived , experienced or travelled through .

The opening is a beautiful burst of so many beautiful fruits! Followed by a beautiful bouquet of florals and a solid dry down of musk and aoud. Stunning, gorgeous frangrance that makes me feel like old money on a yacht! But then.... but then... it goes away. Far too soon. I have no problem spending high dollar on quality fragrances but I just don't want to given how quickly this one vanishes. If only it could last longer I would buy it today. :(

As a fragrance it is ok. The scent is not bad, very vacation and summer like. But it feels more of a different company, not Roja. This style of fragrance, like this one and Isola Sol, is not typical for Roja. It is a sign of a change in industry.

Instead of infantile arguments on bias and subjectivity, the mods here really need to delete the comments that aren’t actual reviews. I just wanna know what it smells like and not watch adults fighting over smelly water.

Utterly generic - none of the notes listed can be detected by me. Just smells like "the entire fragance hall in any department store in-one." Pointless.

Coming from a huge Roja fan - this release is a flop. This perfume has zero structure. Aoud Extraordinaire is just a hodgepodge of tropical notes competing against an overpowering animalic musk. The oud just seems to be there for the namesake with no actual contribution to the blend. Huge miss... Just go with either of the Enigmas for a much better fruity-sweet-oud experience. I am trying to gather something nice to say and I am just at a loss...

What a mess of a fragrance. Sweet fruity opening with indistinguishable notes. I detect maybe a little bit of green apple and pear but apart from that it's just a fruity pulp. After a few minutes there are some soft floral notes and even more sweetness. There is vanilla, probably some toffee and musky woody base. Smells cheap and synthetic which is laughable considering the price.

Oooof no! Nope! And that’s a big NO!!! Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice-ish but this is nowhere close to my beloved Lost in Paris, it’s not sweet, it’s not fruity but it is DEFINITELY A POWDERY BOMB 💣☁️ And on my skin, it’s a complete disaster 😑 So yeah, that was my review...definitely sample first, if able...

This is NOT similar to Lost in Paris in any shape or form. As others have said, the exact notes are undisguisable, I don't get any vanilla. I do get an incense/attar note that is off putting, may be its the heliotrope, I don't like that note in other perfumes. Also the longevity and silage are non-existent.

Aoud Extraordinaire is the worst creation from Roja that I've smelled. Absolutely chemical mess, as well no longevity and silage. I have 7 perfumes from this brand but this one is huge disappointment.

Who came up with this name? Should be called cashmeran extraordinaire.. No originality. No oud. No Aoud either lol. I don't hate it, it would be fine on a woman. But seriously, this is lazy release.

Insignificant overpriced flower water. An absolute joke considering the price. (But would honestly be crap even priced at 70€)

Very feminine, powdery, soapy, and sweet. This does not smell natural all. No oud to be found. Sharp and headache inducing

The fragrance is very complex, with a dense and rich character. The oud is clearly noticeable here, yet quite soft, with a subtle iodine-like nuance. The fruity gourmand notes beautifully frame the oud, giving the fragrance depth, richness, and a full-bodied character. This is definitely not a lighthearted scent, despite what the note pyramid might suggest at first glance. I can also detect the leather accord, though it stays rather close to the skin. It adds a delicate bitterness to the composition, balancing out its sweeter facets. To me, this fragrance feels made for someone who wants to make a statement and be noticed. It has strength and character, yet at the same time a certain softness. A very intriguing perfume 👌🏻 Above, I wrote my review right after opening the bottle, and the bottle had just been through shipping. Now it’s been two days since it arrived, and I can say that the scent has become softer, the oud seems to have hidden away somewhere, while the fruity side has become more prominent. I even started noticing a banana note 😳 (these are my impressions from wearing it on my skin). Now I can say that this fragrance would work beautifully both during the day and in the evening, and it feels very suitable for summer 👌🏻 This just proves that you really should let a bottle rest after shipping before properly getting to know the fragrance.

This is so lush and gorgeous!! 1st this is nothing like the putrid, synthetic rotting fruits in a gelee of cheap men’s body wash that is Erba Pura. Some of the “smells like” is straight up trolling” Aoud Extraordinaire is a pastel, rounded and creamy mix of mango, pear and peach. It’s mouth watering and natural smelling. The first floral I perceive is jasmine. Beneath the sweet almost candied fruits (think hi-chew candies, creamy and rounded not fake, crystalline jolly rancher fruits) is the LOTV, orange blossom and rose keeping the fruits clean and sophisticated. I do get a strong vanilla. Actually in the early mid I started to smell Libre Vanilla couture which was blowing my mind. Libre vanilla couture has a very specific vanilla note and it’s very close the the note in Aoud Extraordinare. The base is a fuzzy western style oud and soft woods. Not really powdery. More dry, silky and gauzy. I find this to lean feminine but if you love it, wear it.

I know there is oud in this fragrance, because when I received my official 2 ml sample the only thing I smelled was oud, woodiness, and fruitiness in the background. I almost immediately dismissed this fragrance because I do not enjoy overly woody scents. Now, the sample was delivered in extreme heat, and it took 3 weeks to get to me. Around two months later, I decided to try it again out of curiosity. And yep, I cannot smell oud at all now, woodiness is mostly gone. The fragrance is extremely enjoyable, it is fruity, but also floral and sweet, and there is something velvety about it especially when smelling up close. It is a smooth fragrance and smells unique to my nose. Lasting power and sillage are good, therefore I would not recommend over-spraying it.

as a man i def appreciate the artistry of Roja's creations. Went to Neiman's and sampled a few Rojas and this one impressed me the most along with Lost in Paris. the top fruity floral notes is beautiful with a sweet vanilla dry down. to me this is perfectly unisex as I received a few compliments by women, as a matter of fact most of my floral or sweet fragrances are most complimented by women. only drawback to this fragrances is the longevity I get 1-2 hrs of top notes then becomes a skin scent by the 3 -4 hr mark, after that I couldn't detect it at all... I hope a dupe will come out so I can layer it for more push.. overall its good but def sample and decant first..
